My dog LOVES to go to this vet. Everyone has been incredibly kind and when the inevitable comes, they are just as upset as the owners of the pet. Sometimes it may be a little difficult to get an appointment, and I was upset when I had recommended this clinic to a new neighbor who was never able to bring her dog in. What's that about? Here's the thing. I've been going to Brumley now for nearly 20 years. I'm on my 4th cat and 1st dog with them. I love Dr. Ellie. She is kind and generous and so so caring of your cats. She helped us through putting down our elderly and very well loved cats (one had stoke and died naturally) the other two were put down after 18 years and diabetes. I knew she would be the right person to come back to after we were animal free for 2 years. She takes care of Luna like her own. My issue or why review is not higher than a 3 is their front desk person, Alex. Like I said, we are on our fifth animal there, so we weren't planning on going anywhere else, until now. We had an emergency, or so we thought for our new dog. Never had a dog before so didn't know what to expect. My husband had called to set up appointment, now baring that it is a day after Christmas and money is oh so tight right now, he called to make an appointment and to see if could make payments. And not for an extended amount of time just to next pay date. Which was 6 days away. She said no. All bills had to paid in full. We didn't know what the issue was or how much it would be. So I take my scared dog to the vet and again the service of vet is exceptional had Dr. Otto for the dog so hadn't met him before, he was kind and gave him treats, and got down on the floor with him. Turns out dogs have to have anal glands expressed. Who knew? He also got his rabies shot while there. Alex comes in with a little piece of paper with the total on it and says the price . I ask if we can pay some now and come in net week with rest. She says no I told your husband on the phone already. She mind you is standing over me in a chair blocking the doors and I feel very cornered. She takes a hostile stance and tone with the rest of the conversation as well. I explain that it's is not for anexorbinate amount of time just til pay day 6 days away. I ask to talk with someone else, says no, I ask to Dr Ellie, not there, I told her doesn't have to be so hostile to me. I want to write a check which I always have, she says no doesn't feel comfortable taking one from me. WTH! She has the gaul to say I can't take away the rabies shots and the anal expression. Duh, of course not, I say. I had a body organ removed and paid it off slowly and wasn't treated so rudely, I respond. End result is I paid nearly 80 percent of bill and left. Paid rest today 6 days later. It's a shame, that this experience will make me have to find new doctors for our beloved pets. I should have called to speak with Dr. Eliie, but life happens. Update. We went back for our cat today. Again exceptional doctors. Cat has UTI poor baby and her rabies shot. Paid with a check like normal, and didn't have to deal with Alex at all. Heck, I've been with Dr. Ketelaar for decades! He's always taken great care of our family's German Shepherds. Very gentle with our pets and very affordable. My boy Rexx will be 13 years old in a few months and he's doing very well. Highly recommended! read more

From the front desk and scheduling to the superb veterinarians, you won't find a more caring location for your pets. Occasionally appointments are a week or two out (think heart worm testing season), but whenever I have had an emergency, they find a way to help our pets. We have taken dogs and cats here for over 25 years. When we have had illnesses that require specialty care, both Dr. Ellie and Dr. Tony go above and beyond to help us find what we need - then they help us coordinate with the specialist to stay informed. This practice has a heart of gold and will go out of their way to accommodate and love your pets. They absolutely understand that pets are members of our families! No complaints form our family and would recommend Brumley to all. For the folks that had trouble with communication, I can't say who or why, but we have never experienced anything but caring professionalism and a true love for their craft. read more

AS IF COOKIES SLIPPED UNDER THE DOOR WERE NOT ENOUGH. . ! I have a big, klutzy, marshmallow of a dog... I've taken him to two other veterinary clinics in the area where he was seen by a different doc with each visit; one clinic felt like the Wal-Mart of animal care, the other seemed to judge him by his block head as simply a bully. I decided to try Brumley, and my dog had the absolute time of his life, getting inoculations, cookies, and a peticure! They've won both my and my dog's vote of confidence! Dr. Ketelaar and staff were awesome! I'm looking forward to many, many more years worth of visits, and will highly recommend them to friends and neighbors! read more

We have been bringing our pets (dogs & cats) to Brumley for 25+ years. Dr. Tony Ketelaar and Dr. Ellie Hikes are knowledgeable, kind and excellent caregivers. The staff is empathetic and exceptional with our pets - and we have met them all. It is easy to take this level of care and concern for granted - until you see vets outside of their practice. We recently had to see specialists for cardiology & neurology at a large practice in Aurora. What a difference. All I can say is we, and our pets, are very lucky to have Brumley. read more

Brumley, and their staff, are beyond amazing. Not only do they always go above and beyond for my kitties and me but they're so patient, knowledgeable and caring. I have a mischievous little black cat while always getting into something and Brumley is always there to walk me through multiple solutions or offer assistance. They also, always call back to see how he's doing and offer additional tips or help. Caring doesn't do them justice, you can tell animals are their passion. This vet clinic is the best. My dog loves them and so do I!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My family and I have been clients of theirs for 27 years. I have never had any bad times with them...even when putting a few of our dogs down as sad of a time it is... they even cried with me. They are so kind and helpful. The best part is knowing that you are like family to them. They know you by name when you call and go out of their way to help you. I can't say enough good things about them. I live 45 mins away from their office and drive there to take my dogs to them. The place is immaculate and I can't recommend them enough. read more

My review is based solely on the lady that works the front desk, I'm sure the Drs are wonderful... When I was on my search for a vet for my awesome black lab puppy I liked this place because it was wicked close, I walked in to ask some questions and set up a new patient appointment and I was "greeted" (i guess?) by this extremely rude desk girl, nurse, helper, whatever she is... I love people so I'm very friendly when you meet me for the first time (takes time for me to get snappy ;-) ) She looked me up and down and gave me horrible looks, I was half tempted to glance behind me, because I know I'm not getting some attitude like that... but yep i was... she answered my questions with as little words as possible, she was not interested in talking to me and when I said Id like to set an appointment she paused in annoyance and told me I would have to wait a week, I said "Thats great I'm in no hurry" then she hands me a paper to fill out and i do so, give it back and she sent me on my way, I think? I don't really know she had nothing else to say to me lol So as predicted I never heard from them, thats a shame, and obviously I'm not going to beg you to take my money so ill go somewhere where they don't look at me like i just kicked a kitten... very rude lady. read more

Need more stars! Dr. Ellie and Dr. Tony are incredibly kind, patient and resourceful. 2 dogs and 7 cats would agree w/me. They have gone out of their way to accommodate our needs and peculiarities. And when those awful times happen when an elderly pet needs the last kindness, they help both the pet and myself with such tenderness. Have been going there for over 20 years and have NEVER had a problem. Also, their staff, including Alex, are always kind and helpful and do whatever they can to help. I have been going to Brumley and seeing Dr. Tony for close to 20 years. I drive about 30 minutes to go here, passing several vets on the way! They are phenonimal! I have had to put two dogs down over the years and dealt with cancer, etc.. Through everything, they have always been extremely compassionate. I have never felt that they recommend things just to make money, in fact, just the opposite. I always feel like they explain all different treatments, medicine options, etc.. I wouldnt bring my pet here ever, I had a golden retriever that we were going to Brumleys for a couple of years, and one time I could not make an appt. and the next appt I tried to set up for my dog Brumleys completely dropped us off there charts my dog was real sick and I begged them if I could please bring him in and Brumleys told me never to make another appt. there again. I told them I would pay for the missed appt but they were very rude and told me know. It was so bad that my wife wanted to go there and picket the place, but I told her it wasnt worth it. read more

My whole family has taken their pets here ever since I was a child, so naturally I take my dog there too. I have been to other vets, when I lived out of state, but have always valued the care from this clinic very much. Dr. Kettelaar is such a super nice man! He has a great big heart for not only the animals, but families too. He always asked about the other family dogs when there is something going on with them (and I am in with my dog), his concern is much appreciated. I have called before about a friends dog and he did a full consult over the phone for no charge. I LOVE this place. They have reasonable prices. My dog likes them too. In other offices I have had to carry my dog in, because he just DID NOT want to go, but here, at Brumley he walks right in with no problem. I strongly recommend this vet to anyone. read more

I have only been using this vet for a few years now and I could not be happier. They are very professional, clean, modern & most importantly, caring. They were highly recommended to me when I decided to part ways with my previous Lisle vet. It's a little difficult to get a last-minute appointment, as they are smaller practice ... but I quickly realized that this is one of things I like the most about this vet!! It's never over-crowded or over-booked .... every patient gets their full attention ... they do not rush you in and out to .... it's a pleasant experience for my pets and for me.
