My wife and I ordered the South Of The Border (pictured) and the Breakfast Burrito (Not pictured.) The Breakfast Burrito was way better, it had more flavor with each bite being the perfect blend of egg, cheese and veggies for breakfast. The South Of The Border was alright too but a bit bland compared to the burrito. Should have ordered a sweet breakfast item now that I think of it, but I guess I'll do that next time. I frequent this restaurant probably once a week. 1. Large selection of great breakfast food, both healthy and not so healthy. But you get to choose. 2. Great coffee. Not sure what brand but very tasty. Most breakfast places out this way have horrible coffee. Also have several other coffee options. 3. Service is incredible. Been here probably 100 times or more and never had bad service. 4. Food comes out pretty quickly and hot even when they are busy. 5. Talked with the owners several times and they welcome feedback as well. Personal favorite is the steak skillet, add spinach and light potatoes, scrambled eggs. read more

My Yelp friend Christina S convinced me to check out this breakfast place. From the minute my husband & I were walking in the parking lot to the door, I smelled bacon & maple syrup. Wow, I was hoping that this would be a start to a great experience. When we walked in, someone explained the specials which they had displayed by the door. We sat in a huge booth & knew that if we ever brought the whole family, my muscular step sons would sit comfortably in these seating arrangements. Our server was Sara (not Sarah) & she was great to us Newbies. She was informative & always checked on us. She even asked how everything was & wanted us to come back. I ordered my basic --- Buttermilk Pancakes & they were great. Next time, I will try their French Toast. They are opened for breakfast & lunch, so I would not mind coming back for lunch either. The brunch cafe in McHenry is awesome. Really good, consistent food. Especially enjoyed the stuffed potato pancake and the Irish skillet, but we haven't had a bad meal there in multiple visits. We love Brunch Cafe. The staff is wonderful and so is the food. We appreciate that you do not have to wear a mask. Masks don't work anyway and they just make you sick. I love seeing everyone's face that isn't wearing one. A smile goes a long way. FYI, almost everyplace you go has signs up to wear a mask, but no one ever says anything about it. I adore this place! I have recommended it to family and friends who have checked it out since, and they rave about it too! Used to frequent Brunch Cafe first thing in the morning after working night shift with fellow nurses, and the manager always greeted us with a smile and remembered us. Wait staff is attentive and friendly, never received bad service here. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get a seat, usually we walk right in. Menu has so many breakfast or lunch items to choose from, all of which look amazing. From Chocolate bacon pancakes, to California Crepes, or the skillets - I try something different every time I go and have never been disappointed. Big portions and food comes out quickly. Mimosas or Bloody Marys available as alcohol options (a must after a long daunting night shift!). Decent prices too. I definitely recommend Brunch Cafe as it is by far my favorite joint to visit for breakfast! read more

I came here for lunch after a class in the area and ordered the Apple Gouda Melt. The sandwich just caught me eye perusing the menu. I have never had anything like it. The sandwich was nestled between an apple bread that was really sweet. Sliced ham, Gouda cheese, and a cranberry mayo just made this thing perfect. I have to admit that I was reluctant to see these things mixed together but found it to be the most outrageous mix of ingredients. I and my family we come every Sunday , the food is delicious . Today the waiter make us seat down in a very small table , the restaurant was not busy so we ask the busboy if we can move to a booth that he was cleaning and he told us it was okay, I run into the bathroom and the waiter( tall guy) came to my son and told him that the table was reserved. We are four in the family and the table was so small I look around and I notice that few couples were seated in booth. I have call couple time to reserve and I been told that the restaurant doesn't accept reservation ! So I don't understand why this guys always seats in small table ? If there's an empty booth we're party of four can seat and fit better. I guess is time for me to look for another brunch restaurant read more

I will never do breakfast anywhere else again! I found this hidden gem totally by accident. While in McHenry with time to kill I was keeping my eyes peeled for a Panera or similar, I was dining solo and had about 30 minutes. At first I almost didn't go in, from the lot I couldn't tell if it was worth heading in. But alone I can eat simple and no biggie. Wow was I blown away! I was greeted with such hospitality from the hostesses, AND delicious displays of their tasty dishes. This is like breakfast that dreams are made of. I told them I was in a hurry so they had my food and coffee out pronto and it was DELISH! Fresh, hot, and more than I could possibly eat. My rye bread was thick and home made for sure. To top off amazing as I got my check my server asked to get my coffee to go ... ummm yes please! She also filled it to the top and NO extra charge! Note* they have "foo foo" creamer as my dad says. I had French vanilla this trip. I didn't have kids with me this time but I noticed their awesome price for the kiddos too because I will be back! The only downside I see to Brunch Café is finding it ,,, it is tucked away at the back of a strip mall. As out-of-staters, we have only had two visits to Brunch Café. The first time was in the fall of 2014. We needed a spot in the Wonder Lake/McHenry area on a Monday for a lunch for 9 people. Made the arrangements by phone and found the Brunch Café more than accommodating. In fact, they did not hurry our party even though we lingered quite awhile after closing time. Everyone in our party seemed to enjoy their meals, whether it was a breakfast or lunch item. On a return visit in the summer of 2015, DH and I were very pleased. We were offered a large booth and soon were ready to dig in to some delicious food. DH had his first ever "stuffed potato pancakes." I had one of my "best ever" breakfasts: a waffle with fresh strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. A slice of "bone in ham" was delicious. It reminded me why the best pork comes from the Midwest! Coffee was nothing to rave about but more than adequate, Our waitress, Maddi (spelling?) was delightful. (She even gave us a good shopping tip to look for tote bags at TJ Maxx at the other end of McHenry.) If we lived in the area, we would be frequent visitors to Brunch Café. Will certainly recommend it to family and friends in the area for breakfast or lunch. read more

I often eat here for weekday lunch and enjoy having breakfast options in addition to salads. The Gouda and Ham skillet with sweet potato tots is one of my favorite dishes, as are the Baja Steak Wrap and Mediterranean omelet. You can't go wrong with the salads, either. The Portobenny is a great alternative to eggs benedict. Brunch Cafe's pancakes are some of the best I've ever had. I can eat them with just butter and no syrup. My only disappointment so far has been the Route 31 crepe. The filling - spinach, mushroom, onion, cheese - is savory, but the crepe was too sweet. It was strange. If I had been dining in, I would have sent it back. Since I was eating at my desk at work, I was stuck with it. I don't order the sandwiches but my coworkers recommend the tuna melt and the turkey panini. Service is always great when I eat in. Staff are always friendly and prompt. There have occasionally been mistakes with my take-out order. "Please do not include the roll with my salad" was interpreted as "No roll and no croutons on the salad." So I stopped saying anything about the roll. Sometimes there's a roll, sometimes not, but at least I get the croutons. It works out. read more

My wife and I had a weekend away from the kids (5) and decided to sleep in and get a food bite to eat up the road. We've heard that this chain is pretty good and I saw that it rated out nicely on here. I will say, the atmosphere and our server were nice. But the coffee was something I could make at home and the scrambler my wife got was runny and pretty poor rly made with huge hunks of ham and full branches of spinach. My omelet was fine, nothing special. Overall we weren't happy with the reason we went there....for good breakfast! Had a very happy world eggs day! Mom stayed with the absolutely fabulous red velvet french toast. If you have never had it, it is a MUST! But today I decided to go with an egg dish. I had the portobenny. A take on eggs Benedict, but this was two perfectly poached eggs on asparagus on goat cheese sitting atop portobello mushroom caps. Smoothed in a delicious hollandaise. I ordered some hash-browns on the side for some potato goodness. YUM! The goat cheese just adds this special tart kick. Plus they have diet coke and I never want for refills. This is my favorite local breakfast restaurant. The staff is great, from the moment you get greeted by the host to the servers, busser's, to the managers. My daughter and I had Tessa today, she always gives great service. The food is so hot and fresh tasting all the time. They have several locations, although I have only been to this one. Omg!!! This is the place for breakfast if your in the McHenry, IL area. The staff is nice and the food is amazing!!!! You really get your bang for your buck. The portions are huge and the prices are great on my wallet. They also have specials which are not on the menu, with an actual picture of what your getting which is really great. We had the California crepes, the Florentine benedict, and the red velvet french toast which was to die for. Overall, the staff is great and they actually know and have any food from the menu and the food is great for breakfast or lunch, hence why they are called Brunch Cafe. The potatoes at the bottom of the skillet weren't hash browns like most skillets. They were cubed potatoes and were "different"...not crispy on the outside. The pumpkin pancakes were good except for the pumpkin filling/cream of some sort in-between the two pancakes! Very odd. Not a fan. Do wish we had've been told about that when we ordered the pancakes. Would not have ordered if we knew about the cream filling beforehand. Also, this place needs much better coffee. Not sure what brand they serve, but it's not very good. read more
