I remember when Brunch Room Bistro opened, I was excited, but hesitant. I've been to other, similar brunch spots and was completely underwhelmed. Why did I wait so long?? This place is GREAT! My husband and I arrived on a Friday, late morning and were quickly and warmly welcomed and seated. The restaurant is nicely decorated and it feels like and upscale vibe, yet comfortably fits in with the area (Forney, TX). Music played at the perfect volume level and was appropriate for a restaurant atmosphere. My husband got the Strawberries and Cream pancakes, which came with 2 very large pancakes, 2 eggs, and a healthy serving of either bacon or sausage. At a price point of $17, he'd come back almost everyday for this meal! The pancakes were perfect - crispy edges, fluffy on the inside. Bacon with just the right amount of crispness, over-medium eggs cooked expertly. I had the Chicken Breast and Waffles, which came with 1 large, fluffy waffle, a very nice sized fried chicken breast and 2 eggs. I totally expected the chicken breast to be dry - it's not easy to fry chicken breast correctly. When I tell you that chicken breast was juicy, well-seasoned and delicious, it ain't a lie!! My meal was $24. The waffle was just okay, and the syrup tasted too different for my liking, but the chicken and the eggs made up for it. We had coffee this time, but I can't wait to try the cocktails. We have deemed this place as our new go-to breakfast/brunch spot! This is the epitome of glam and brunch! The vibe is set with r&b sounds by live music! The saxophonist played a mixture of gospel music (Sunday brunch) and classic r&b hits. The food is top tier. I ordered multiple things on the menu to have a variety of options. The oxtails and grits were amazing! The meat literally fell off of the bone! The drinks are great as well! This was my first time at "The Bistro" and I must say, it was amazing! What brunch should be. The food was very tasty. I had the seafood greens gumbo and it was really good with a hint of spice. The cornbread was sweet. That combination was A-1. The Mac N Cheese was cheesy and HUGE! You'd definitely get your bang for your buck. The saxophonist was sooo good. We had reservations, for a party of (3) and seated about 30 minutes after our reservation time. Our waitress did not greet us until after about 20 minutes of waiting, we actually had to ask who was our waitress. Our food did not come out together. I ordered an entree and 1 side . My entree came out, but side did not come out until after 20 minutes of the arrival of my entree, in which I had to ask for.My sister in law ordered the seafood greens with Mac and cheese. The greens were cold the Mac and cheese arrived 30 minutes after the greens, the cornbread 30 minutes after the Mac and cheese. There is so much more but not enough space to write. Very Nice ambience. The service was super slow on a Sunday for brunch. There was a guy playing the saxophone and he was amazing! Gumbo greens come with cornbread. It was very meaty and nice portions but overly salty. The biscuits and gravy, eggs and potatoes were ok. Gravy was really good, it is $2 extra to add crumble sausage in the gravy which should be told. The potatoes have absolutely no taste at all. The drinks were good and the customer service was good. I was so excited to try this place after seeing reviews online. Sadly, not the experience I had hoped for. The Good: The ambience was eclectic & vibey. The menu looked fantastic for both drinks & food. Thea advertising looks great- such as professional pictures of food, seating bar & drinks look amazing. Enough that we drove 30 minutes to visit the restaurant. The Bad: The host said would be 15 min wait. There seemed to be plenty (over half the restaurant') tables open. I initially thought this was because we were a party of two so would be sat at a smaller table. This wait was actually 25minutes in their "lounge area". We were brought paper menus (not laminated & very print off a home computer feel). No one offered a drink in this area or that we could be served in the bar area for brunch cocktails. After 25 minutes we were sat in a large booth. After another 10 minutes a young kid (less than 21 & likely a teenager) brought us more paper menus & asked about drinks. We finally ordered . The drink I ordered looked nothing like the pictures online including the dressing of the drink. The drink also tasted like powdered Tang, not Jameson & not dressed the same. The color of the drink wasn't even the same. Making me think the mix was off. The wait staff (young teenage appearing kid under 21) also served the drinks spilling it on the table and menu & we had to ask for napkins. We were provided cheap paper napkins to wipe it up ourselves. After another 10 minutes my husband asked for the check so no food. A manager did apologize & comped our drinks. Sadly, this place is just not ready. 1) Servers serving alcohol should be 21. 2) Wait times need to be more accurate & drinks should be offered in lounge or guests seated at bar to wait. 3) To have such a great aesthetic it is currently cheapened by things like paper menus & disposable napkins (not just bar napkins with drinks but tableware not wrapped either) 4) The food on other people's tables looked great. 5) Staff needs training from the hostess to the wait staff. I was then told that they seat people that have made reservations first and if reservations do not show up within 15 minutes then they sit the groups that have walked in, bad system to have. I went here today at 11:30am with my partner, 1 toddler and an intact in car seat. When I approached the counter they asked how many in our party I said 4 if you want to include car seat. His response was "we can seat you at 8:00". I said 8pm, he said yes. It felt like he was trying to be turn me away and be funny at the same time. A better delivery would have been "I'm sorry we're booked up until about 8pm tonight if you were interested in coming back" or just anything that felt like they were actually interested in our business I looked around, saw people sitting and dining but no one waiting no which made me think maybe this was a reservation only establishment. I went to their website to confirm, and it does not state that it's reservation only, on top of that they had open reservations for a party if 4 starting at 3pm and plenty more after that time so why did I have to wait until 8? I'm not big on leaving negative reviews for Black owned restaurants so I left 2 stars instead of the 1 star I wanted to leave, but I did not appreciate the experience! read more

After shortly we were given a table for my family and i but a hostess gave us too many menus than what we needed and we had been waiting for our server for a too long wait. After she helped us after a long period we got our food and barely saw our server again. I would say the food was alright not the best but the ambiance did make up for it. The food is phenomenal and the ambiance is very fitting complete with live music. The only complaint I have is the wait time. Seating was a 50min wait. They open at 10am and I got there at 10:30am for a party of 3 on a Saturday . The food was delicious so the fact that it took time was not a problem at all (if you are very hungry keep that in mind). However, it did take a while to receive drinks from the bar. Overall, I will be back with friends and family to try the rest of the menu. Food was ok but wait time was ridiculous. The waiting area is wasted space where tables should be setup and you wouldn't have 3 hour wait times. Second attempt to eat here and was never told we could do reservations. Found that out when people kept getting seated before us because they had reservations. The waiter was a kid that wasn't professional and when asked for more syrup he laughed and ask are you serious. Then somebody totally different came back to the table and gave ticket.
