I was very happy with the tuckpointing Bruno's recently completed on the inside and outside of my home. First, I was given a thorough, visual (photos of specific areas with damaged areas clearly circled) and written estimate of all work to be done. None of the other 8 or more companies came anywhere close to providing a comprehensive estimate--they were mostly verbal with a few generalities scribbled on paper. Based on experience, a rock solid estimate with what work will and won't be done can be a dealbreaker and is reflective of good business practices and professionalism. Start dates are difficult to predict due to weather conditions, but once work began, Jeff (?) was here for a full day's work. I watched and spoke with him often during the course of the job. I was very impressed with his years of experience, pride in and quality of his work; he led me to an appreciation of the skill and experience required to do a tuckpointing job correctly. The cost of the job was competitive; there were some higher and some lower bids. But it's not all about the cost; you're purchasing experience and pride in one's work. All trades are exceptionally busy right now, but it's worth waiting a bit longer to get the job done well. I don't hesitate to recommend Bruno's whenever I can. read more

Bruno Construction fixed our parapet wall on our building in Chicago.  We have had leaks on that side of the building for years. They rebuilt the top courses of the wall and replaced the broken copings.  They poured a new concrete chimney cap and finally the leaks into the units below stopped working.  I waited a few months before posting this to make sure the water actually stopped, but with all the rains and snow we have had since the work was done we have not had anymore leaks.  They were very easy to work with.  Bruno came out for the initial estimate and his son Thomas provided us with a written quote the same day that was very detailed.  The communication between all parties involved was excellent.  We had a few other contractors come out to look at the work and Bruno's estimate was the most detailed, covered the most work and still they were one of the cheapest in terms of cost.  I am so glad the board decided to use this company and we will definitely use them again in the future for other repairs when needed. read more

This is the 2nd time I have hired Bruno to do repairs to my 105 year old Lakeview East apartment building. The first time was to do lintel repairs on basement windows and most recently, to tuckpoint my garage and to do a concrete wall and step repair. In both cases, his crew was on time, did the work expertly and left the site clean. They even made sure to touch up painted areas afterwards, which I had expected to do myself. My custodian claims he enjoyed watching the crew work since they operated like a well oiled machine. One last thought was Bruno came out very quickly after I called him and he scheduled the repairs within a few days knowing we had a serious problem that could be considered dangerous. It's not often you can get a good contractor to get a job quoted and finished all within one week. I highly recommend this company! I used Bruno Construction last year to have some lintels replaced on my apartment building and some major tuckpointing. They kept to their scheduled appointment for the estimate and explained everything to me so that I could understand exactly what work needed to be done and exactly why. They gave me a good price and their quality of work was excellent. They kept the job site clean everyday and they had no problem providing me with a certificate of insurance or a copy of their license as many other companies did that I called out to check the building. I recommend these guys to anyone and especially those that need a little education on why your building is leaking in the first place. Bruno Construction is a father and son family business and we loved that. One of them was always available to meet us and with the large project we had we did had to meet a lot. Last summer Bruno did an excellent job on the exterior brick walls of our town home in the Little Italy neighborhood. Work included grinding and tuckpointing of the building & privacy wall , repairing cracks in the stonework, recaulking the perimeter of 3 glass block windows, power washing the black stains and replacing coping with limestone on the top of new flashing system for the privacy wall. My chimney was in need of tuckpointing. Thomas and Bruno both came out and that weekend their men were out at my house repairing my chimney. We hired Bruno to restore the masonry on the front of our home. They replaced bricks grounded all the joints, tuck pointed the front and power washed bringing back the beautiful natural colors of the brick. They did an amazing job! We were so happy we chose them to do the masonry work! read more
