Our waitress Sherry took our drink order then proceeded to sit and chit chat with one of the locals, when she brought our drinks one was wrong. She took our order which took forever to get made. We got up and left and as we were walking to the door I told the man at the front that we were never served and he seemed not to care. Great steaks! The waitress was very attentive to our group. Salad was cold a presented well and served quickly. I ordered the 12oz Trailboss cooked medium. This steak was much larger than 12oz!!! Thick, cooked perfect and a great char grilled flavor with the perfect grill marks to boot! The fries were hot and crisp to the end. I'm no small guy and it was close trying finish it all. The thick cut toast was great as well! I would go back. Great old school western vibe. Don't listen to the negative Nancy's. I wish I would had room for desert. Service was very good, abuzz with locals. Overpriced for what you get. My burger and baked potato were luke warm at best. It was not very busy so my food should have been fresh. Had the pleasure of eating some downright delicious food at K-Bob's. I was told how good it was by quite a few people and it did not disappoint. The building is a bit dated on the inside and could use a facelift but honestly why mess with something that is working so well. OUR FAMOUS CHICKEN-FRIED STEAK. 9/10 Hand-Breaded in Our Signature Batter and Topped with K-BOB'S Country Gravy. Served with one sidekick. The chicken fried steak was downright yummy. The breading has a ton of flavor and the steak was tender. The gravy was good but not really needed because of the flavor of the steak. Had mash potatoes and gravy as the sidekick. They are homemade and only needed a bit of seasoning to make them pop. Really good chicken fried steak. K-BOB'S BURGER. 9/10 USDA Choice Beef Garnished with Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, and Pickles. Cooked to your preference. I myself love rare to medium rare burgers, but usually they are always over cooked, not this time. A perfectly cooked rare burger is what I got. Added 2 slices of cheese because I love cheeseburgers. Topped it off with all the fixings and condiments and it was beyond perfect. Had the fries for a he side. Just fries, nothing more, nothing less. BUTTERMILK FRIED CHICKEN TENDERS 9/10 Original or Buffalo-Style with Gravy or Ranch Dressing. Ordered these original style with gravy and what a dish. I know they are just chicken tenders but they were cooked perfectly and the breading was crispy and seasoned to perfection. Had the fries for my side, just your ordinary fries. HOUSE SALAD. 9/10 Lettuce, tomato, cucumber and cheese served with your choice of dressing. It is a basic salad like most house salads. It was really good because of the veggies freshness. Had it with ranch dressing. The front of the house was stellar and the boys on the grill put out some awesome food. These guys are what all restaurants need on the line. 10 out of 10 for K-Bob's. It will be my go to a time I am close to Raton. Definitely a place to stop into and get some great food. They do have other locations but I can't vouch for them. read more

We walked into K-Bobs and the staff was not friendly. We placed a simple order which was either not placed by our waitress or was lost by the kitchen. Our waitress came to give us to hand us our bill and we had yet to receive our food. She had an attitude when we said we hadn't been served yet and went to the kitchen and was visibly annoyed and talking about us to the cook. He put our order on and the food was bland because he did not take the time to prepare it correctly because of their mistake. My husband and I are spending the night in Rotan, we were driving around trying to find a place to eat and came upon this restaurant. We happened to get in on the BOGO free special so we both got the chicken fried steak and gravy with 2 sides. We were pleased with our meal, we're from Texas and we're pretty picky about our chicken fried steaks but these were pretty darn good!!! Bottom Line: Okay to good food. Friendly staff. Prices maybe a touch high for the area & possible miss on the food. Rustic & dated decor. Top Line: Grabbed burgers at K-Bob's Steakhouse in Raton mid-trip to Denver. Food gets mixed reviews. Companion said their regular burger was very flat tasting & needed spicing up, even a bit of salt & pepper would have helped. Definitely wouldn't reorder that burger again, if stop here at all. One star rating for that meal per diner. I liked my green chile cheeseburger & sweet potato fries meal. Chile was spicy & flavorful. Cheese was gooey and drippy. Burger patty was large (1/3-1/2 lb I'd guess) & well grilled. Bun was toasted on the flat-top & had some buttery taste to it. A fine bit of breadage. Sweet potato fries were hot & quasi-crisp, so not from under a heat lamp. Solid 4 stars for my meal. Staff was friendly & engaging. Decor is a bit dark & rough, being Western Rustic that's been there a while. Special kudos for still having up in early January their giving tree for local animal organization. Prices seemed a couple bucks high for being this far removed from major population base. From interactions between staff & incoming diners it's obvious that there's a strong local cadre keeping K-Bob's going, which is kind of comforting in a way. My recommend is to grab the green chile cheeseburger here, this still being on the New Mexico side of the border and all. read more

We arrived before the dinner rush hour so we were hoping it was a good sign. We were greeted almost instantly and very warmly. That's where the good service ended. Our server was very busy visiting with another table deep in conversation. We sat for over 15 minutes while she chatted. Being that it's supposed to be a steak house I ordered a sirloin medium rare with onion rings. My husband ordered sausage and fries. The salad bar was beautifully stocked . The French fries were piping hot and well salted. Onion rings were good. My steak was a 3 inch by 3 inch hunk of meat that was lightly seasoned . It was really tough on the outside and a little warmer than room temperature. The server pulled herself away from her chosen table to ask how my steak was cooked and when I didn't respond quickly enough, caught a bit of an attitude (I didn't complain as I truly felt there would be absolutely no way to improve any of it and I was super leery of having them cook me another steak . The sausage looked like the cheapest kielbasa you can get at the grocery store. We were given our check very quickly. We went just down the street to the loaf and jug (a gas station/convenience store) and had a way better experience. read more

My waitress kept apologizing for the long wait time on the chips and steak. Did notice the other waitress tell my waitress "did he order chips and salsa I gave it to the other table." I actually went in to have a steak, but I had the all you can eat salad bar, and the chicken fried steak. I asked the waitress if their chicken fried steak was frozen, and they hand batter their chicken fried steak. It was homestyle cooking, and everything was delicious. Everyone there was very friendly, and helpful. The waitress was absolutely amazing! I forgot her name, Rosanna, Roxanne, I think I'm close. The atmosphere was great, I was seated in a booth. I absolutely love their salad bar and the different homestyle selections. They charge $12 for their salad bar, and then you have to pay for your entrée.
