Tiramisu
Linda V.

Found this place while scrolling Yelp for something decent and close to Duval after sunset. Even though we'd had Italian the night before, the reviews sucked me in and I was ready to experience the "magic" for myself. We were seated immediately at an upstairs table--so far, so good. We started with the salmone cream cheese appetizer: cream cheese, capers, smoked salmon, and onions. Perfectly fine. Pleasant. No complaints. The real surprise, though, was the bread. Fresh, warm, and paired with a side plate of olive oil, balsamic, and a generous mix of freshly grated Parmesan and garlic. Simple, yes--but honestly the best thing we ate all night. I would've been happy just continuing to dip bread and calling it a meal. I ordered the spaghetti vongole, hoping it would easily outshine the last one I had in California at Café Solé in La Cañada Flintridge, given how "authentic" this place looks and how glowing the reviews are. Reader, it did not. The house-made spaghetti was oddly chewy, the clam-to-pasta ratio was wildly off, and there was a tragic lack of garlic. The dish was watery with no real sauce to speak of. At the California spot, the sauce was so good I used bread to mop up some of my sauce. Here, I finished the sparse number of clams in basically clam water and abandoned half the pasta. Wasted carbs. A sin. Our friend ordered the tiramisu, which was actually quite good as tiramisus go--credit where credit is due. Kenya, our server, was fun, friendly, and genuinely pleasant, which helped soften the disappointment. I'd still recommend this place with conditions: skip the vongole and absolutely avoid the gnocchi. My son is a devoted gnocchi enthusiast and ordered the pesto gnocchi. I expected at least a hint of green. Instead, it arrived looking suspiciously like marinara, with maybe a handful of gnocchi total. He was still hungry and openly unimpressed, noting it didn't come close to the gnocchi we had back in California before our Florida trip. In short: great bread, good service, decent dessert--but choose wisely, or you may leave full of regret and unmet carb expectations.

What a true hidden gem in Key West. When you're burnt out on seafood, try this truly authentic Sicilian Italian restaurant. Service was great and the vibe was family oriented. Pro tip: try the Pappardelle Funghi E Salsiccia and cannoli

OMG. Homemade authentic Sicilian Italian food. The owner was so nice as were all the staff. The pasta. Wow!

We found this little touch of Italy near Mallory square and the food/service was excellent. Jimmy was a great waiter and we feel like we have found our Italian go to. Delicious.

Waiting on food.

We came without reservations, on the last night of our long weekend trip. The waiters were on the side-walk trying to drum up business from passers-by, and seated us inside at the front window. We ordered a bruschetta to share between the 4 of us, but then beforehand, they brought out a complimentary bruschetta. I LOVED the first, complimentary one. The second one was not hot and was just not nearly as good. I was excited to see a Montepulciano wine offered and I chose that. Several others at the table had an Argentinian Malbec that they raved about. Unfortunately, I didn't really care for my Montepulciano. I ordered one of their daily specials - cheese ravioli - and it was ok. Two others had gnocchi and loved it. The 4th had the lasagna special. He liked it very much. We got full quickly, and since we had to fly home in the morning, we had no plans to take our leftovers. But, a woman at the next table wanted them and took them!! Yep, true story.

Amazing food and ambiance. When you feel like every restaurant in key west feels the same , this place is like a little Italian vacation. Service was amazing, Gianni gave us great recommendations. My husband had the homemade lasagna , and I had the chicken parmigiana, both delicious! And the tiramisu is a must try! Legitimate Italian flavors !

And it's not only the drink menu with its custom crafted cocktails, wines, beers & ciders that will wow you but the accompanying snacks and bites are just as divine. And bonus, it's not only a bar, but also a liquor store with an awesome selection of wines and spirits. This bar definitely has a locals vibe. It's small , dark and cozy and the small tables with velvet chairs are very welcoming. We loved it so much. We came back for a second night. We tried the Maria Rita, which was a reposado tequila with fresh lemon, lime, hibiscus, and habanero, perfect version of a margarita. We also tried blowing smoke up your glass, this was made with Papa Pilar, dark rum, pineapple, fresh lime, house made basil syrup & tiki bitters. Absolutely fabulous. We also tried their deviled eggs each topped with unique toppings like trout row, bacon, and scallions. They were absolutely fabulous. They also have a great selection of charcuterie, Key nuts which you can order with different flavor, profiles, caviar, olives & peppers. Also, the most generous happy hour I've ever heard of from 12 to 6 PM every day. Don't miss out on this little jewel when in Key West.

The decor is seductive in such a tasteful and classy way, everything is so romantic. It's beautiful. Cozy, intimate booths. Sparkling chandeliers flickering in candlelight. Ambient lighting. It is a perfect place to end your evening with your partner. We made reservations the morning of, on a Wednesday evening for our anniversary, and were seated promptly. Service was incredible from start to finish. I appreciate their ipad menus with questions to ask your partner, peruse the menu, and read about the origins. There are plenty of drinks and deserts with double entendre names, they're so fun. Huge positive that they have virgin drinks, and several to choose from. Both deserts we tried were out of the world delicious. The missionary crisp ice cream and flavor was 10/10, no notes to improve. Key lime from behind was the best key lime I've had in my life and quickly became the best we have tried on Key West. Incredible and what a lovely place!!

Great people watching, a relaxed atmosphere, and exactly the kind of setting we were hoping for in Key West. The service was phenomenal from start to finish. The martinis were excellent, and every dish we ordered was a hit. We started with the ahi tuna, which was fresh, light, and the perfect way to start the meal. For dinner I had the fish special over risotto, and my husband had the homemade bolognese. Both were fantastic. It's hard to say which was better because we kept trading bites back and forth. To finish the evening, they surprised me with a pineapple upside down cake for my birthday, complete with a sparkler. It was a fun ending to an already memorable meal. Between the porch seating, the service, the cocktails, and the food, this was one of those dinners that just gets everything right. We'd happily return the next time we're in Key West.

There's a bar inside on both floors, and separate rooms with long tables for big parties. Cool wallpaper, decor, and music- ambiance is 10/10. I ordered the cheese board (SKIP- it's average and tastes like it's out of a lunchbox), and the bacon wrapped dates that are stuffed with blue cheese (the bacon was extra crispy, the blue cheese both chunky and creamy, and it really was the perfect bite). Also ordered the beef bolognese pappardelle (homemade al dente noodles with a creamy sauce and large chunks of Wagyu beef) and the whole yellowtail snapper. The whole yellowtail snapper is their signature dish and it was the star. The fish was fresh, flaky, and juicy, with a crispy skin; and the Thai fish sauce paired perfectly with the fish. Would come back and order this dish again, 100%.

Food Blackfin is a beer and wine restaurant, so no cocktails. I'm not a big drinker, but I do enjoy when a place offers creative house cocktails. Since I'm not much of a wine or beer person either, I was initially a bit disappointed. That changed quickly when I saw they served Stiegl Grapefruit Radler. That alone felt like a small vacation in a glass. The menu offers plenty of choices to satisfy almost any palate. We weren't especially hungry, so we opted for a lighter approach: * Grilled Octopus * Tempura Green Beans * Spinach and Goat Cheese Salad Everything we ordered was very good. The salad was fresh and thoughtfully balanced, with bacon, goat cheese, apple, and honey bringing layers of flavor. It was served with a crusty baguette. We don't normally eat bread, but this was a welcome addition. The grilled octopus was tender, flavorful, and served hot. Always a good sign. The tempura items were nicely executed, lightly battered and not greasy. The green beans were crisp with delicate seasoning, served alongside a balsamic glaze dipping sauce that complemented without overpowering. Service Service was attentive throughout the evening. We never felt forgotten, and we never felt rushed. The pacing was natural and relaxed. Thank you, Gabor. Atmosphere The indoor dining area feels quiet and intimate. The outdoor patio in the back leans more casual. Surrounded by a tall fence and shaded by trees that form natural canopies, it offers a sense of privacy that can be hard to find in many of the more open-air restaurants along Duval Street. Even though this was a lighter, abbreviated meal for us, my sense is that Blackfin would be an excellent choice for a full dinner. We would definitely plan to return on our next visit to Key West.
