I am a long time ICE Cream fan. It remains one of my all-time favorite foods. Brusters has the best Ice Cream in our part of the world. First off, it is real ice cream. Second, they make what you order right there as you wait. Their waffle cones are amazing. Ask for one, two or more generous scoops of the most amazing ice cream! My personal favorite though, is their shakes. I love the salted carlmel shake. It has the sweetness of caramel and just a little sea salt. My favorite stop on a really hot day! I came here to pick up ice cream and the first thing I did was go online and see the flavors they had so that it will make it easier. When we got there, ordered the flavors we wanted, the lady at the drive thru said, "we don't have that" after the many flavors we tried to order. She was very rude and sounded annoyed because we wanted flavors that were listed on the board. How were we supposed to know they didn't have the flavors that were on the website vs in person? I, personally, think that's false advertising because the MANY MANY flavors they have on their website, they didn't have half. This wouldn't have been a problem if they have a different subcategory or some kind of indication on the website saying what they have that day. It's not very fair to get an idea of what flavors a person may want ahead of time and then come to realization that it's not there. Honestly, that puts customers in a bad position because not only will they hold up the line in drive thru, but also they will need to sit there and figure out what they want, and if they can't decide then I'm sure they'll drive on through aka losing a customer(s). read more

Tonight my two friends and I came to this place to get ice cream. I was told that this place is a high school date spot so I knew it would probably be good. When we arrived here on our group date, I thought it was an Arby's because I only saw its drive thru. I've never seen an ice cream place with a drive thru before. I ordered a regular waffle cone with graham central station, New York cheesecake, and death by chocolate. I thought these flavors should be good because the names are funny, and I wasn't wrong. The graham central station was the best out of them in my opinion. I liked how the graham crackers added a crumbly texture to the creamier ice cream base. It was a little too sweet though since I had to take a couple breaks to finish it. The New York cheesecake flavor tasted like cheesecake but it was difficult to detect under the ice dream's milky taste. It tasted like cheesecake and I was content with that. The death by chocolate was very chocolatey with chocolate chunks and syrup but it was more like "death by sugar" haha. My mouth felt dry after each bite. I enjoyed the chocolate though, and it paired with New York cheesecake pretty nicely. I like this place a lot. Low key and tasty ice cream tastes better when you see how long the drive thru line is. Other people be waiting while I feast. Next time, I'd like to see what the drive thru is like. read more

What can I say Brusters is the place for homemade ice cream they have so many staple flavors and some awesome seasonal choice they will never disappoint you. My go to flavor is vanilla some may say it boring but I love it I visit their location on 355 at least twice a week since it so hot outside lately. But be prepared to wait line for a least 20 minutes if you park and decided to walk up and place your order or if you decide to venture into drive-thru it could be a bit quicker to receive your ice cold creamy goodness in a waffle cone or cup. They also sell milkshakes that are made to order. My kids love their dirt sundae with gummy worms on top. I always buy a pint of mint chocolate chip in a quartz size for my freezer just in case I get a craving This location is very family friendly just park your car in a cool spot and procure your favorite ice cream in you vehicle of choice ( sugar or waffle cone, cup, milkshake, etc.. Enjoyed the heck out of my maple nut groove, but I would've loved to see pecans or walnuts used instead of peanuts. Yummy! Bruster's has been around since '89, founded by Bruce Reed, in Bridgewater, PA. It was to showcase his recipe for homemade ice cream, and there are many locations throughout the US, where they still make all the desserts/cakes/pies/waffle cones/ice creams right on the premise. They had a variety of flavors of ice cream, such as Mint Chocolate Chip, Banana, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Death by Chocolate, Cherry Vanilla, Mango, S'mores, Nutella Crunch. etc. I had the Graham Central Station and the Butter Brickle (an extra scoop) in the Dino Sundae style - this actually came with a big dinosaur sugar cookie with colorful purple sprinkles (YES!)! You can sample as many flavors as you want (the sample spoons are so generous!), so if you're indecisive like me, take advantage of this! I looooved the Graham Central Station as it had chunks of graham cracker crusts throughout; the Butter Brickle was toffee/brown sugary goodness and more rich in flavor. My husband had an Oreo Blast Mix-In, which was just vanilla with tons of Oreo cookie chunks throughout (it was just okay). Meage, the sweet sweet employee that was helping us, was quite lovely (ask for her when you're there!)! I loved the generous portions, the generous samplings, and the deliciousness of the ice cream. I seriously like Bruster's!!! They have nice quality ice cream, delicious cones, and fantastic service! Although I haven't used their drive-thru yet, it's super convenient for when you're not up to standing out in the cold to make your order. They have plenty of coupons available and occasionally offer fun promotions. Although I've often found a line there, it moves pretty swiftly and gives you the opportunity to consider your flavor choice. Bruster's offers plenty of unique flavors. Nothing complex but certainly very delicious. My current favorites are Graham Central Station and Chocolate Peanut Butter Buckeye. It would be nice if they had more exotic flavors - like ube, corn, lychee, etc. However, the more exotic flavors may not be quite the right fit for the area's local demographic. The ice cream itself is fairly high quality. It tastes far superior over your standard scoop from Baskin Robbins or Coldstone Creamery. However, this isn't your highbrow organic, non-gmo, specially-sourced fancy schmancy scoops either. Their ice cream is creamy with little-to-no ice crystallization. It's a softer type of "hard" ice cream so it would probably be best eaten during cooler days. By mid-summer, a scoop like this could potentially be a total mess. Maybe go with a cup instead of a cone by then. Best of all, you can choose up to 2 flavors for a small, which consists of TWO scoops. How awesome is that?! If you want something smaller, order a kids cone (or a senior cone if you're 55 and older). Prices are fair, especially for the quality, but definitely keep an eye out for coupons in the mail. I usually receive them about once a month for $1 off a scoop. You can also sign up on their website for their Sweet Rewards E-Club to receive coupons and to find out about special events. They recently held a promotion called PJ Day, which offered a free small cone to anyone who came in their pajamas. Coincidentally, it snowed that same day! They also offer a free small cone if it's snowing. That's always well worth the trip if you don't live too far. There's plenty of parking in the area but very limited seating. There's a few benches in front and some picnic tables along the side. Most people usually sit on the grassy area during the summer or in their car on colder days. It was a bustling summer Monday night. Loooots of people, and a line (but it moved quickly!). The portions are MONSTROUS. Why oh why did I order a waffle cone? Mind you, it was delicious (But I mixed up in my head sugar cone with the big waffle cones, and ended up getting more than twice the amount I had intended...) My small waffle cone was 2 large scoops! I try to support small, locally-owned businesses when I can, but what I cannot support is businesses doing stupid things just because "well, that's how we've always done them". I abhor when businesses make it difficult for me to spend my money...especially when I have other options. After receiving a bunch of coupons in the mail from this place , I decided to check them out. I wanted to get an ice cream cake for my boyfriend's birthday so I decided to spend my money supporting a small business. Note that I could have easily gone to Carvel, Coldstone, or Baskin Robbins: all of which are closer to me, have virtually no wait, and would have had me on my way in 5 minutes or less, but I chose to go out of my way and "buy local" instead. The line for this place was insane, but fortunately, they had a drive-through. Great. We ordered the ice cream cake, but were told that we had to get out of the drive-through line, park, get out of our car, and wait in that long ass line just to ORDER the damn thing. HUH?!? Now, I would've had no problem if they told me I could pay for it at the drive-through and walk up to the window to pick it up when it's ready (which is also stupid, since I'm sitting right there. The cake isn't that big that you can't pass it to me through the window). But this chick told me I couldn't even order it at the window. By this point, I'm both confused and extremely annoyed. When we get to the window, I ask the cashier to explain why we can't place ice cream cake orders at the window. She says "They take too long to make". (Ummmm... what? It's not like you have to bake them or anything). I ask how long is "too long". She says , "Like 5 minutes, but we have other customers waiting in line in the meantime". Understandable. I ask her why we can't just pay here at the drive-through (you know, since we're already here and everything) and either park and wait for someone to bring it to us, or park, wait, and pick it up at the walk-up window when it's ready. She replied, "Sorry, that's our policy". Welp, that "policy" just cost you business... and a customer. After long day of walking around at cherry blossom festival, my friend who lives in the area took me to Busters for treat. They make their own ice-cream fresh daily and that defiantly reflects in the intense real flavors in the ice-cream. The server was really friendly and give you as many tastings as you like to figure out personal favorite flavors. the price is reasonable and scoops sizes are definitely big. I was up in King Farm (North Rockville) to pick up this girl for a date about a month ago. She wanted ice cream, and I recommended Bruster's. I had it once in southern MD, and it was really good. Also, when I lived in Birmingham, Alabama for a year in 2010 some people from the church I sometimes went to talked about the one at the bottom of the hill from the church and how good it was, but I had never tried it. On this warm June Saturday night, we got there, and the parking lot and place was packed. People were crowding the parking lot, which made it even more challenging to get a parking space. For a Saturday night in Gaithersburg, this was probably the biggest (& maybe best) hangout (Ok...j/k...maybe the Rio has a few more people & has some cooler spots). When we finally got to the counter to order, they were friendly. We enjoyed what I would argue is the best ice cream in the DC area (Unfortunately, there are no locations in Virginia, where I live). We were lucky enough to get one of just about two benches to sit and eat. I should've gotten napkins since it was melting rapidly on this hot night (Thank you climate change...haha...j/k...it's summer in DC), but luckily I have emergency napkins in the car. This place is ridiculously good. Came to the shopping area several times during the fall and winter while getting pho and shopping for furniture, and I noticed this place. I saw people getting ice cream here in the dead of winter with snow all over the place. I was hesitant to try it because I knew if I let my wife try it it should we would keep making me go get her ice cream while she stayed in the apartment. Guess what? I was right. So this ice cream is made fresh daily. They have so many different favors some of them are too sweat for my tastes but most are incredibly good. Summer nights at this place are ridiculous. It is packed until closing time. There are so many families, couples, and friends that just gather to this location, eat and chill. And this was every night. I pray for these people that they don't develop diabetes and heart disease. But you know it may be worth it. I really can't think of anything negative to say about Brewsters. They've been excellent every time I've been there. The ice cream is great, and any place that has apple dumplings (even if they're seasonal) wins bonus points in my book.
