I can't tell you have many times I gave passed Bruster's and thought to myself, "I'm going to check this place out some time". Afters months... okay fine, it was more than a year later, but I can finally check Brusters off my list. On a Friday afternoon around 1pm we did what any normal employee does and we hit up an ice cream spot for some sugar (please don't tell my boss that we do this). I assumed there would be no line but boy was I mistaken. There was a huge crowd around this shack waiting for fresh daily made icream. Luckily there's signs and prices above the counter so you can figure out what you want beforehand. Eventually it was my turn and I was offered samples...it was like a visit to Cosco but ice-cream only. Ultimately I went with the chocolate peanut butter buckeye (try saying that ten times fast). I ordered a small and spent about $5.99. The small waffle cone was actually two scoops and a lot of ice cream. I will say the ice cream melts extremely fast due to being made daily... I can't fault Bruster's for that though. I definitely recommend this place and don't be concerned about the line- it is totally worth it. Plus, I was given a $1 off on my next visit :) read more

Been here for cones a few times but this review is for their ice cream cakes. On a last minute hunt to find an ice cream cakes, I called Brusters and was delighted to learn that they had some premade. They answered the phone quickly and notified me of which flavors were available. When I got there, the line was quite long and when I finally was able to speak to someone at the booth, they looked really confused about premade ice creams. The boy upfront seemed inexperienced and first brought me an order form telling me I had to choose what I wanted and they would have it the next day. I pointed at the fridge behind him which displayed the cakes and asked whether I could take one of those. He said no but after insisting he finally asked some other staff who said I could just pick one. Afterwards they were able to write happy birthday on the cake and I was off on my merry way. Pricing was decent, $30 for 8 inch round. I got the Oreo cake which looked beautiful and tasted good but a little too sweet. They did have nice big pieces of Oreos inside the cake though. One suggestion for how to reduce lines-have someone take the order and have a runner to prepare it, this way there won't be such a holdup in the line. There looked to be a number of people in the back. Ask train the staff to ask when they don't know instead of telling the wrong information. In spite of all this I would come back! We love Brusters! All their ice cream is home made and the flavors change regularly. They have a wide range of flavors, cones, sundaes, etc. Also, kids that are under a certain height get a free cone and dogs also get a free pup sundae (a little vanilla ice cream and a 2 milk bones). I stopped here on my way home from shopping and I haven't been to this place in YEAAARRSS! I think when the first opened. However, I love that they have a drive through. I was a little intimidated because I was unfamiliar with their options and a car pulled up behind me. I quickly ordered a scoop of the chocolate peanut butter ice cream to-go. I was greeted by a friendly employee that gave me a coupon for my next visit. The ice cream traveled well all the way home ( about 25 mins). I did pop it in the freezer while I unwound for the day. Brusters is awesome in Gaithersburg. Good flavor variety and they are partnered with Uber eats but cut off around 5pm on a busy day. Usually the staff is quick but occasionally are training new scoopers and that slows down the line. Most of the time, line is quick and easy. Drive thru option is great and sometimes quicker than standing in line on a hot afternoon. Now with Covid, they have distancing and safer measures are being taken. Now though, the drive thru line wraps like 3 times around the parking lots so good luck. Love that they offer pups an doggie sundae for free!!! Brusters Ice Cream is delicious! Unlike Baskin Robbins it has a very soft consistency which I love even though it isn't a soft serve ice cream. My only tiff with them is there is always a super long line! They also have a drive thru which makes waiting in line take twice as long. It is worth it though! They have a trillion and one ice cream flavors on the website and about 20 in-store, but Graham Central Station is my go-to. Graham ice cream with graham cracker swirl and chocolate flakes. I can't bring myself to get anything else no matter how tempting it sounds. I'll sometimes get this with some nuts and call it a day or get it in the Turtle Sundae - mixed caramel and huge pecans on top. Ugh I want it NOW. The boyfriend usually gets a milkshake with maybe 3 to 8 different flavors. They never say no and it is ALWAYS delicious.
