The car line went back as far as the Tile and Floor Decor store. I wish I could have taken a pick but it was dark. The walk up area had a crowd. We waited a long time in line, but it's nice that there is a drive-thru. They gave us a coupon at the window for next time. There are many premium flavors. The small cone or cup is a two scooper. The sundae was a good size for a small, but a little sloppy. Ice cream itself wasn't too special. I should have gotten Death By Chocolate instead of plain chocolate. It's much better IMO. Decided to escape quarantine for some ice cream. There were five kids working there at 8pm on a Friday night and they were doing a great job. There was a crazy amount of people and they handled it well. The line outside is way faster than the drive thru. I had a good experience ordering in person, cannot speak for the drive thru experience. It was moving much slower than ordering in person. Every employee was wearing a mask. The lines were organized and evenly spaced. They called out at the window when ready to take an order. They still had a variety of flavors when I went. They were only out of the cotton candy flavor. The ice cream was delicious; softer handmade ice cream. When I checked in on Yelp I received a $1 off coupon! No complaints here. Very happy! I had the chocolate peanutbutter buckeye which was chocolate ice cream and mini peanutbutter cups. And I had a scoop of the salted caramel which was delicious and had a fresh swirl of caramel on top. The hype is worth it yall! There is always a line wrapping around the building so I decided to try the ice cream. We ended up going through the drive thru and it went by so fast, so definitely do this instead of getting line! I ordered a Small waffle cone with cookies and cream ice cream. I was surprised to see how big the "small" cone was, so you definitely get your moneys worth. The ice cream was very creamy and full of crumbled oreos, super delicious. I've been going to this particular location for over 10years and they've never let me down! Today, was the first time in maybe 6 or 7 month and I can still say it's one of the best REAL ice cream spots in the area! Everything is creamy and full of flavor. I've been trying to cut back on dairy, so I tried the VEGAN cookies and cream/oreo flavor with a cake cone and I think I've found my go-to spot for vegan ice cream cravings in the area. If you don't like coconut milk, don't order this, but if you don't mind it as the substitute, go for it. The first bites the coconut was really dominating, but then the more I ate it, the coconut flavor just disappeared. It was magical. It was like I got two flavors for the price of one. My gf got the banana SPLIT, the split is emphasized because the portion is really meant to be split amongst 3 or more people, which I had no idea because it was my first time trying it. there was plenty of ice cream, plenty of whipped cream, and plenty of banana to be shared. Full of flavor and full of just being FULL, we couldn't finish it! The service was great! There was a line of perhaps two people when we arrived, but we purposely stepped to the side to just check out the menu and outta nowhere a young lady popped her head out the window to let us know that she could take our order as soon as we were ready. This is my go-to place to satisfy my sweet tooth. I first had Brusters ice-cream 9 years ago in Alabama and never saw another Brusters until this one, so I was quite happy to find one nearby. It's a cute little shack in middle of a parking lot with some benches for seating. They also have a drive-through, which I didn't expect and is quite convenient. The service is fast even when there are crazy long lines. I have only tried their ice-creams so far, which are rich in flavor and so good. They have lot of other options from milkshakes to cakes. Their ice-creams cost more than your regular ice-cream parlors, but you also get the quantity that matches the price and it's totally worth it. My favorite is their hot fudge brownie sundae, which is a perfect combination of melted hot fudge, chocolate chip brownie, vanilla ice-cream, whipped cream and a cherry on top. Bring your dogs, they give a free "doggie sundae" to your friend so you will get a second of peace to sit and eat. Even with COVID the Gaithersburg shop is in an underutilized shopping center so there are curbs to sit on and eat if it is warm enough to sit and relax. There is a rewards program and you will get coupons sent to your email. All in all a great ice cream place. One warning, the lines can be long particularly on beautiful warm days so be prepared to hang out a bit. This is not the workers' fault, there are only so many workers and so many windows and they go as fast as they can. Here are the reasons other than having delicious ice cream to visit Brusters: 1) Drive Through.They have a drive thru. Seriously. You could park your car, and walk two feet to the window, or stay in your car and go through the drive-thru window. For someone who spends most of her day thinking about how to get food as close to my mouth as possible without excessive use of movement, this place is awesome. 2) Coupons and free ice cream galore.There's always a deal here. Basically every time you go they give you a $1 off coupon for a waffle cone, or sundae. They also offer free ice cream if it rains and you are in line. They give free cone if they are under a certain height, which is great for kids or me basically. Basically if you go here often enough you will never pay full price for ice cream. 3) Extensive seasonal flavors. Flavors like pumpkin, black raspberry, egg nog, apple pie. I am a purist and just usually opt for coffee. It has a strong coffee flavor, and not too sweet. One of my favorites. I also love the Chocolate Peanut Butter Buckeye - which is butterfudge Ice Cream with Peanut Butter and Buckeyes. I have no idea what butterfudge is but it's good and the buckeyes are mini peanut butter cups.I read they have coffee oreo flavor but have yet to see it. The day I do, I will practically live here 4)Waffle cone sleeves.Glaciers melt at a faster rate than me eating. With so many flavors on the menu (it changes daily, but they have standard ones as well), I've tried the birthday cake, chocolate chip, nutella, oreo, and vanilla. Loved the nutella, which was a special one day. I thought the birthday cake was okay. Way too many rainbow sprinkles and the blue frosting was a little too heavy that I couldn't really taste the cake batter ice cream. None of the flavors I tried were too sweet, which is great. I assumed there would be no line but boy was I mistaken. There was a huge crowd around this shack waiting for fresh daily made icream. Luckily there's signs and prices above the counter so you can figure out what you want beforehand. Eventually it was my turn and I was offered samples...it was like a visit to Cosco but ice-cream only. Ultimately I went with the chocolate peanut butter buckeye (try saying that ten times fast). I ordered a small and spent about $5.99. The small waffle cone was actually two scoops and a lot of ice cream. I will say the ice cream melts extremely fast due to being made daily... Been here for cones a few times but this review is for their ice cream cakes. On a last minute hunt to find an ice cream cakes, I called Brusters and was delighted to learn that they had some premade. They answered the phone quickly and notified me of which flavors were available. When I got there, the line was quite long and when I finally was able to speak to someone at the booth, they looked really confused about premade ice creams. The boy upfront seemed inexperienced and first brought me an order form telling me I had to choose what I wanted and they would have it the next day. I pointed at the fridge behind him which displayed the cakes and asked whether I could take one of those. He said no but after insisting he finally asked some other staff who said I could just pick one. Afterwards they were able to write happy birthday on the cake and I was off on my merry way. Pricing was decent, $30 for 8 inch round. I got the Oreo cake which looked beautiful and tasted good but a little too sweet. They did have nice big pieces of Oreos inside the cake though. One suggestion for how to reduce lines-have someone take the order and have a runner to prepare it, this way there won't be such a holdup in the line. There looked to be a number of people in the back. Ask train the staff to ask when they don't know instead of telling the wrong information. In spite of all this I would come back!
