Bruster's is a chain to which I was first introduced in Maryland. One would think that as a chain that the ice cream would be the same from location to location. Alas, no quite. In Maryland, it just seemed that the ice cream was "fresher" if that's a thing. I want to say that here in OrCo it was a little chewy? Maybe I just caught them on a bad day but maybe not. Don't get me wrong, it still tasted great but there are a lot of great ice cream options around (like the 5 star variety) and if I had the time and the vehicle, I might go to one of those instead (I've reviewed one recently that I really adored - you can find it in my other reviews). If you're nearby and want some good ice cream, Bruster's is a fine choice. Maybe a shake would address the chewiness component. Also...as a side note...their selection when I was there was not great and their board of available flavors was wildly unclear (as if the staff couldn't be bothered to update what was and was not available). read more

Stopped by Bruster's Ice Cream in Huntington Beach after dinner with my wife. I got a small cup of their banana cream pie flavor. It was alright overall--nice and creamy, but definitely on the sweeter side. Honestly, it was a bit *too* sweet for my taste. Not bad if you've got a big sweet tooth, but it didn't really hit the spot for me. Still, a decent place to check out if you're already nearby and craving dessert. read more

I'm a total ice cream junkie/connoisseur, and when my family was up in Arrowhead over the weekend we were craving something sweet after a salty, savory lunch. I checked out the local options and, no offense, to Rite Aid/Thrifty's but none of the candy/ice cream places met my needs. For me, it just wasn't worth the calories. Hard pass. Painfully, I watched my family happily like their cones while I stood strong Not gonna lie... it wasn't easy. So I gave myself a rain check and made plans for a solo trip the next day to Bruster's near my house. I was way too excited walking in and ordered a double waffle cone with two of my favorites: Caramel Toffee and Peanut Butter Butterfinger. Both were incredible -- creamy, buttery goodness with just the right balance of salty and sweet. And a must for me with ice cream: chunks inside. Candy, nuts, something crunchy... It's always a treat whenever I get to enjoy Bruster's ice-cream! There's a good amount of parking, even though it's shared with other businesses. You order at the counter and pick up from the window. There's outside seating with tables for you to enjoy the ice-cream. Plus, they offer vegan and non-dairy options! They allow you to sample flavors. My favorite flavor from Bruster's is graham central station. Graham central station is basically smores. I love anything smores! The ice-cream here is rich and creamy! I usually end up eating half of the serving. Also they scoop a lot for the portions size. I end up having to ask for a to go lid. I get a small, but I always regret not getting a kid's size. A small has two scoops, while a kid's size is only 1 scoop. The service can be ok though, since sometimes I'm not greeted. It's usually college kids working, and they don't look too happy to be working. Also, the pricing is a bit more expensive, which is why I get it once in awhile. You're paying for the quality! I recommend Bruster's for delicious ice-cream. read more

Ugh I'm so mad cus I didn't know this place existed.. I randomly passed by and decided to get some ice cream & brooooo this is the SPOT!! Ordering is so easy, they just have a window! So many different flavors of ice cream available. I got the graham station something ?? And black cherry on a cone The consistency of the ice cream is so creamy & smooth. I was craving ice cream. That can happen sometimes. This location of Bruster's is in a strip mall and has plenty of parking. They also have quite a few outdoor tables with umbrellas so you can sit and enjoy your treat. As I approached the front of the building, the ordering window slid open and I was warmly greeted. Bruster's has a lot of flavors to choose from, most being unique. I couldn't decide between two so just made the obvious choice: have both. Two scoops in a cup. Graham Central Station and Cold Brew Brownie. I was surprised at how quickly the woman working here found, scooped, and presented my ice cream to me. I had barely put my wallet back in my pocket! I sat at one of the tables and dug in. Graham Central Station has bits of sweet graham cracker and chocolate bits mixed into a graham cracker-flavored ice cream. Cold Brew Brownie has a light coffee flavor with small chunks of brownie. Both were deliciously creamy and satisfied my craving. read more

This location is convenient to locate and offers plenty of free parking. They offer a lot of variety of flavors on their menu. Their cost is a little high, but it's justified because of their high quality ice cream and large serving sizes. The staff is patient if you need recommendations and helpful. The ambiance is nice if you like sitting outdoors. I would have preferred an air conditioned indoor seating due to the afternoon heat and sun. But this is a location I recommend if you need a cold treat in OC. read more

So delicious! I got a "small" in a waffle cone $8.99 with Death by Chocolate and Chocolate Peanut Butter w/Buckeyes. Then had them flip it into a cup so it didn't melt everywhere. Apparently this is a very common request. I don't know what the Buckeyes were but this ice cream was amazing. I loved the peanut butter swirls, the chocolate chunks in the Death by Chocolate. The small is huge, I can't imagine what the Medium or Large look like. There are so many flavors, it's going be fun to try different ones every visit. Or just get the same thing again since it was so good! This location is not as busy as the one in Seal Beach on Main. There was only one employee on Sunday afternoon but she was keeping a great pace, knocking out those orders. read more

Another stellar experience at Bruster's Real Ice Cream. Expedient service from Kalley as there was 5 of us wanting different flavors and sizes and cones vs cups. She had it under control as our orders were called one by one at the pick-up window. Chocolate Chip is a favorite of the grand daughter and Cold Brew Brownie with a scoop of sea salt caramel Toffee for the tall grand son. That caramel Toffee is a winner as I see another order but inside a Waffle cone. Cookie Dough reminds one of home made and the coffee is my favorite. We sat under the umbrella and watched the procession of customers after us. We came just in time and had a great service and Ice Cream at Bruster's. read more

After eating dinner, I was really craving some ice cream and was new to the area so I had to scroll through Yelp. I stumbled upon this place and was amazed by all the different flavors that they offered, as well as different variations (ice cream cup or cone, sundaes, shakes, etc.) I got a strawberry and Oreo shake. They claim to be real ice cream, and once I had the first sip of it it was actually very good. It surprised me about the quality and the taste of the shake. I wish they added a little more milk; just because the shake was a little thick and a little difficult to drink. The guy taking my order was friendly and took in consideration of my allergy and was able to make sure to reduce cross contamination. A good amount of people were sitting outside and enjoying their dessert. Overall, I would come back to this place if I'm in the area again. read more

I love Brusters Real Ice Cream. The Banana Pie flavor is FIRE. I always drive past these guys on my way back and fourth from work, and I never have the chance to stop by. This is a place that rivals Handel's, and Handel's is my favorite ice cream spot of all time. This is just a small spot that has seating outside, no seating inside, so be aware of that. It's nothing fancy, but it does have good ice cream. Service was good, you're allowed plenty of taste testing with the ice cream. Now for the important stuff. There are fewer flavors than Handel's, but on its own plenty of tasty and interesting flavors, frankly they had every flavor I could've wanted anyway. The serving size compared to Handel's is actually enormous. I've got a big appetite, and I could barely get myself to finish the medium size bowl which was same price as the Handel's bowl I usually clean easily. I must swallow my pride and just order a small next time. Really good value for ice cream and plenty of good flavors. I'll be returning. read more

My sister had been raving about this spot, so I decided I had to give it a try. We were around the corner at 2nd Floor and wanted to get some dessert. I was really looking forward to the seasonal Strawberry Matcha flavor, but they had run out of several flavors by the time we got there. I was pretty upset, but we still got a couple good flavors that included the Cheesecake and the Graham cracker flavor. I liked the texture and the size of the scoops they gave us. I think that the price for the portion is definitely fair. We got 2 separate cups, but one between the both of us definitely could have been enough! I would say that the scoops were not very similar though. One for sure had more than the other. Nevertheless, will need to be back to try other flavors. read more

Fourth time coming to this Bruster's for a banana split and they haven't had bananas, all 4x they say they are out. We literally had to bring our own banana just to order a banana split, which we did. Even though they used my banana they messed up the order forgetting the vanilla ice cream and putting the pineapple on the chocolate (which is honestly a crime ). It's pretty ridiculous that an ice cream shop consistently doesn't have bananas. At this point, it feels like a pattern, not a fluke. The line was 10 deep and everyone was saying the same thing. Not sure what is going on but not a good look for one of our favorite ice cream places. read more

The texture and fluffiness of this ice cream is unbeatable. They offer really delicious flavors and large portions for their cost. The staff is always really friendly in letting you try as many as you'd like and give flavor suggestions. I get a kids scoop every time and it's almost the size of a double. So be prepared with some room in your belly when you come here!! The banana cream is hands down the best!!! I'm not a fan of banana ice cream but this one is so good, tastes like real bananas not artificial flavoring. I always pair it with the oat milk chocolate and it's tastes like a chocolate dipped banana. The oat milk ice creams have a good consistency and texture just like oat milk. I love going here sometimes. I try not to eat like this, but when I get the feeling...I love Bruster's. Their sign is what first attracted me...the red cherries. It drew me in. The menu is full of all kinds of flavors and some things are even more than ice cream. The portions are huge and sometimes overly sweet. A few times I couldn't finish my ice cream and had to give the rest to my husband to finish for me. He always gets the milk shakes. I think my favorite flavor so far is their Graham Central Station. Seating is outdoors under umbrellas. Lots of families go there, and if your kid is under a certain age or height, they get a free mini cone. read more

As we're driving home I see this ice cream shop and point it out Him: oh, I heard some people mention it's good. wanna go? Me *without skipping a beat*: sure He turns on his blinker and moves into the right lane in time to turn into the parking. Him: didn't have to force your hand on that Me: nope! Their minimum order is a double scoop. I felt like we had half a damn quart of ice cream in one sitting. He had a double scoop of dark cherry something something with chocolate chip in their house made waffle cone and I had the same with mint chip and salted caramel toffee So good but probably not going to be again for a long time even though it was nice to be spontaneous. Bad business practices. They advertised free ice cream on Halloween for kids in costume. When I showed up with my kids around 3:15, there was a sign that said they were closed for Halloween. Their Facebook page said nothing about being closed or closing early. 2 other families showed up as well only to be disappointed. I commented on both their Facebook story and one of their Halloween posts about how the free ice cream was false advertising because they were closed. I saw that they saw my comment on their story and forwarded my comment to someone. They also deleted the Halloween post that I commented on (there were 2 duplicate Halloween posts). But no one ever reached out and apologized or try to make up for their false advertisement. I won't be returning to this location again nor will I be recommending this place to anyone. read more

The peanut butter frosting smells out of this world. I almost took a bite. As always, this place is extremely clean Staff is great! Parking is great! Flavors to pick from are great They have a huge variety. I'm so bummed I got there too late and missed out on their coconut cupcake and they had a pistachio one!! (Her flavors are always the best and always changing) So I had to go with my old trusty. I got a wedding cake one and a birthday confetti one. Again, these cupcakes are HUGE. They have the perfect amount of frosting vs cake ratio, they are not dry at all!!! Hands down the best in Orange County I got sucked in. She can make any of her cupcake flavors into a donut. So I tried the strawberry donut (inspired by her strawberry cupcake) the donuts are all in the back and not on display like the cupcakes are It's the best of both worlds The donut was light and fresh. I went in for a custom cake order, and the owner was able to accommodate within a 72 hour window. I'll say that my daughter does not actually eat cake. She eats frosting, but when I tell you, she ate her entire slice including the cake and the buttercream frosting! The cake was so moist and so beautiful! The prices are fair for the quality that you receive. However, I will say that when I inquired on a separate order if she's able to accommodate for gluten allergies, she said unfortunately no. Although her website does advertise that she can. Besides that, this is a solid option for custom cakes, especially if you like them small and stacked.

However, we were really disappointed in how they handled our order. We placed our order a couple of weeks ago and received our confirmation about a week later that they were ready to be picked up. However, the email only indicated that they were ready to be picked up anytime Mon-Sun at their popup location. When we arrived, the told us that they had taken back our order because it had been over 5 days and no one had picked them up yet. Then they told us they would try and see if they could recreate our order. TBH, that is the absolute most ridiculous way to do business. No where on their site did it say it had to be picked up within a certain timeframe, AND no where on their confirmation pick up email did it say it had to be picked up by a certain timeframe either. On top of that, they said that we should have called them. Um no, it's your small business, you have left over orders that need to be picked up, then you need to reach out to the customers and let them know they only have so many more days to pick them up before they are forfeited. That's how all small business, food-related or not, handle thing, especially when there are timeframe constraints. To be clear, the time constraint was not an issue IF they had even expressed there is one, but they never did. Please clean up on your business practices, it's very important to communicate with your customer base.
