Came for lunch at around 11:30A. We got the food in about 20 mins so it wasn't bad in comparison to others. We ordered the original, Nashville hot, and the angry Mac and cheese. The original chicken was tender and the waffle was airy so that was good. It's not heavy like your traditional waffle. It had a kick to it because of the chili honey, but it wasn't too spicy. It was a little hard to eat and messy so the whole thing kind of came apart for me, but I guess it's what you expect from a chicken waffle sandwich. I didn't get to try the Nashville but my husband said it was good with the right amount of spice. Also pretty messy to eat. They do give you wet wipes for this reason. The Mac and cheese was a bit spicy but it was on the sour side. Maybe it was because the recipe had too much tabasco sauce? I think that's what they make it with. The staff are super friendly and helpful and even make it a point to tell new people that their waffles for the savory items aren't sweet waffles but they have dessert waffles if you do want. We got the kickin Nashville hot chicken waffle sandwich which was delicious and would recommend! The spice definitely builds with each bite but it isn't too bad if you like spice. The waffle was crispy and it was a nice waffle to chicken ratio. Also very easy to cut in half which is super convenient and helped hold the sandwich together better. The staff recommended the spice tots as a side and they were so crispy and tasty and the perfect amount to share so these are a must! I tried the 2 tender and tot combo, and while the taste was good, the food was salty. The loaded tots are not worth the price, and the sausage grab-and-go waffle is subpar. The waffle is, meh. The ranch is absolutely delicious! The customer service was quite lovely. The employees are pretty helpful, and the employees are also excited to share information about the food at Bruxie, which could be a good signifier that they are being treated well. I've been twice now, last time yesterday, first time about two weeks before that. The first time was amazing - my sister and I both had the salad with fried chicken nuggets. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and fried - not overly salty, and super juicy. The salad was Cobb style, so had chopped egg, bacon, tomato, and cheese, along with the greens and a creamy dressing. Based on that I couldn't wait to go back, so I went yesterday with my daughter (who loves the chicken tenders at Jack's Urban Eats). Yesterday's experience was so different it made me wonder if they've changed their recipe or the kitchen staff. I got the salad with fried nuggets again, and my daughter the kids meal with nuggets and waffle fries. While the chicken was still cooked nicely, the breading was so salty it was practically inedible. My daughter stripped the breading off her nuggets and ate them like that; I got down all but two of the nuggets on my salad (the first visit, I finished the entire thing). Still giving four stars because the staff are SO nice and attentive that I'll be coming back. I want this place to make it, and the saltiness of the breading feels entirely fixable. Seriously, yesterday's visit made me wonder if someone measured out tablespoons instead of teaspoons, or accidentally doubled some seasoning during prep. I ordered a few of the sandwiches, and a strawberry creme brûlée waffle sandwich, which was very good - reminded me an Asian dessert. We had a great experience at this Bruxie for lunch. Our first impression was how wonderful the service was. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, which is a big factor in making this a 5 star review. They were helpful and patient as we decided our order. For our first visit we just ordered the standard chicken tenders and waffle fries, along with their signature strawberry-lemonade. This is certainly the best fried chicken in Davis, very juicy and well seasoned. Next time we will be more adventurous and try something with waffles. Most of the orders we saw were to-go, but they have great outdoor seating that made for a comfortable dine-in experience.
