Went for Easter buffet. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice-very old school, although it was very warm in there and people were really packed in. The food was just ok. We were expecting brunch and it was not brunch at all as there were only lunch items on the buffet. A bowl of greens with a few dressing choices for salad (no other toppings), I believe a pasta and a potato salad, carrots, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, a pasta choice-like lasagna, chicken breast, and ham, sweet potatoes, rolls and butter. The desserts were the biggest disappointment IMO. I was looking forward to the "all made in-house" selections. They all were more or less the same version of a cake with cool whip type frosting-a strawberry cake with cool Whip, a yellow cake with cool whip and pineapple, and a chocolate one with cool whip-no brownies or cupcakes or tortes or pie or anything. We plan to go back on a regular Sunday to try the brunch-our server said it includes breakfast items, before we put this on the "not going again" list. read more

Wow. We first found this place when searching for a diner in the area. Bryan Place is truly not a diner. It is an absolutely beautiful restaurant. What a gem. The buffet is elegant. The food fantastic. Beautiful inside. The price was what you would expect. I truly can't say enough about it. Stopped for lunch with the kids as we were driving though town on a Friday afternoon. We decided to skip a fast food place and try this based on the yelp reviews. Such a great decision! We sat outside on the adorable porch on a beautiful afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was good and huge portion sizes. Everyone was happy. If you have time, so upstairs and shop around. The rooms they used to use when it was a working YWCA are decorated and it's interesting to imagine people staying there. read more

Everyone else seemed to come for brunch. We came for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. Atmosphere is lovely. Nice clean attractive quiet place. I had a lovely chunky chicken salad with fresh fruit...and it was all ripe. Husband had a cowboy hamburger and said it was very good too. Service was good too. This review only applies to the brunch buffet. The first time, the selection and service was great. It was a holiday weekend so they must've stepped up the offerings a bit. The second visit was just a normal weekend and I was disappointed. For a place with such nice decor, I expect better quality food and service. They have an omelet chef which is the star of the buffet. The hot trays for more lunch type foods were often empty and the ones that weren't were bland. They were moderately busy during our second visit (certainly no busier than the first time) and our service was just not good. We aren't demanding customers, and just had coffee and water to drink. When you're getting your own food, that really simplifies the server's job. Our plates were cleared slowly and our drinks were only refilled once. Perhaps I'll give them one more shot and order from the regular menu. read more

I have to admit I can't decide if I had lunch in a furniture store or ate at a restaurant that sell couches and end tables. Bryan's Place is in an old YMCA building that is in the National Historic Register. The owner also sells furniture, so when she bought the place (this is according to the waitress) she decided to turn the rooms in the Y into a place to sell her wares. DISCLIAMER - I did not furniture shop so I can't comment on the selection. But I can say the grilled chicken sandwich at lunch was great, the noodle soup delicious and the service excellent. read more

This was an unexpected gem. We were traveling and found it on Yelp. The Sunday Brunch was excellent, starting with made to order omelets, waffles and pancakes., and ending with a table full of mouth-watering desserts. There were also many excellent lunch offerings. My husband raved about the blueberry cake. It's got an awesome store including antiques, gifts and interesting furniture. They're currently remodeling their banquet facilities. Wife and I ate at Bryan Place on a Sunday and what a treat! They have a Sunday brunch that is spectacular and at a very fair price. Their omelets are to die for. Now you might be like I was where an omelet is an omelet but I found out that isn't true. You have to try theirs to see what I mean. The brunch also had what must of us call dinner items, i.e., green bean casserole, a pork roast, German potatoes and gravy and other items. One of the other items was a oriental chicken dish that was out of this world! In addition, they have a good salad selection, and an array of deserts. How I rated Bryan Place: the food gets a 5, the service gets a 5, the facility gets a 5 and the value gets a 5. That adds up to a great place to eat! Wednesday lunch. Beautiful place. Food was about what I'd get at a cafeteria. Stick with fried or lunch meat. Pizza was very similar to a $2 Tony's frozen pizza. The kids took one bite and got fries for lunch. There were only 2 other tables and we were there for close to 2 hours. 22 minutes from when we sat down till our flat sodas were brought out. Service was friendly but non existent. I really wanted to like this place but we'll look elsewhere. read more

We drove past Bryan Place in Zanesville on a Sunday afternoon. Since the restaurant where we had planned to eat is now closed on Sunday we took a chance at Bryan Place for their Sunday brunch buffet. The restaurant took us back to the 1950's. There were many families with children, parents and their parents. A great place to bring the whole clan or gather with friends. It is clean and comfortable and I did not see a single television. The omelet bar was well stocked with lots of choices. Neither of us were interested in eggs. The food selection was good. I tried my first and last piece of chicken fried steak. The mashed red skinned potatoes were excellent, the mixed vegetables were over cooked but tasty. The salad bar had a good selection of options. The dessert table was oh so tempting. The servers were attentive and very friendly. We will return but go earlier when everything is fresher. read more

In town for 3 days and went there twice!!! The first day we had the turkey club with a side salad--- turkey piled high with bread separating the meat and the lettuce and bacon with mayo!!! Delicious!!! Then went for Sunday brunch----- Wow--outstanding---had a chef there to prepare you're omelet which you give him the ingredients you wanted and he prepared it in front of you!! In 2011 I booked Bryan's Place to have my wedding. It seemed like a beautiful location and after meeting with the owner to discuss details I felt confident in my choice. Unfortunately, there were many things that did not go as expected. As time went on between our first meeting and my wedding it became hard to get in touch with her. I was assured some specific decorations that would clash with my decorations (including a small 2 foot statue of a dog wearing a red fire hat) would be removed from the area we were using and some other things would be cleaned up. The morning of my wedding, those things had not been taken care of and one of my bridesmaids had to move stuff herself. I had asked for 22 tables to be set up, each table had the potential to hold 8 people but because of how I arranged families some only had 6 or 7. Despite giving her the max number of people that would be in attendance for food prep because I was charged per person, she charged my parents as though all the tables were full and said 'Well, you could have had more people'. And to top it off, I was supposed to have the gym portion of the building until 11 but at 10:15 the staff started taking things off the tables, moving guests items so they could take tablecloths off, etc. it was so rude, my parents and I were horrified! The upside: my wedding was amazing anyway and the food was good also. Just be cautious and get details in writing. read more
