The new location is not "fun". The service was not great and.... who cares how much whiskey you have? It desperately needs a patio like the old location. You wanna dress pretentious, dress pretentious. You wanna wear a suit, wear a suit. You wanna be Republican, be Republican. You wanna be liberal, be liberal. The TR doesn't care. Drinks and beer are cheap, service good, and even sometimes friendly, but I tip well. The Tap Room is the perfect place for an all day Friday drinkathon, It makes Uber indispensable. I have never been so rudely treated by bartenders and many of the clientele in any bar in my life. For the record,I lived in Vegas for 20 years and patronized hotel/casino bars and bars for locals.I have patronized bars in SLC for many years. How does a bar stay open where some of the bartenders scream and yell at the customers, where virtually all of the bartenders act as if you, the customer, have to please them and not vice versa, where the old time customers act as if they are running the place and bartenders will literally kick people off a stool out of a table if one of the o "old" well known customers drops in. ( To be clear, this has nothing to do with someone having a reservation. In a place like this, nobody has a reservation.) Bars that that treat customers,particularly new customers, like this place do not deserve to stay in business. read more

This little bar has 2 rooms: 1 bar area and game room. The game room consists of 1 pool table ($1.00/game) a pinball machine ($0.50/game or $2.00 for 5 games) and 2 dart boards. The music is so low that you can barely hear it. The noise is from other people's weird conversations. Plenty of places to sit and pretty spacious. Servers are friendly and come by to take our drink orders pretty frequently. Drinks are fairly cheap too! Finding the place is a little tricky but it is on the south side of the building of Even Stevens. read more

This was one of the first bars I ever went to when I first moved here. It was in that little crowded shack next to fats so it's fitting to be my 100th review. I've seen the sign for the new location and decided to finally check it out. The staff is still friendly as ever and I must admit the patrons kick ass as well. Everyone there was great, the random conversations were fun and the regular drunkards were professionals. By that I mean they were happy and friendly, no BS just good ole happy drunks like myself. So yeah a great crowd that genuinely loves this place. One of the longtime patrons that I was speaking with genuinely felt sad that since the move the crowd has tapered off, and when the patrons have love - you're doing something right. Modern day Cheers! Everyone legit knows everyone's name in this place. I went for the first time a week or so ago, and was met with such hospitality from everyone in this place. After shift change, the bartender bought me a drink, then posted up at the bar enjoying his time off. You do not see that too often these days where they aren't running out the door! I walk in a couple of days later and was greeted with waves, hugs, then the typical catch up - it was amazing. If you haven't been here try it. Also, Vietnamese food from the store right in front of this place is SO GOOD, so grab a to go curry sandwich and walk in to the tap room, eat your food and have a drink. Or order from Even Stevens, they will drop your food off to you. Either way, come to this bar and be nice to everyone in here if you don't require a fancy cocktail. read more

Bartenders work hard and are very friendly. Good beer selection and great booze selection. You can drink on the cheap or have a glass of nice scotch. Great patio, enclosed so you don't feel like you're in the middle of a parking lot. There's always a crowd of regulars and first timers. The regulars have always been friendly and welcoming to me (then I became one I guess). If you feel the "regulars" aren't friendly, maybe they're not actually regulars, or maybe they're just not super-outgoing. But they're good folks. It smells really good in there, like a summertime barbecue. One pool table, one pinball machine, darts, TouchTunes jukebox, bingo on Mondays which is free and really fun and has cool prizes. Came here for trivia night. Will probably come back for trivia night, but only trivia night. There wasn't a ton of seating so we had to stand for the beginning. There was room for more seats but there weren't tables. Also trivia could only be heard from a close distance. Even being in the same room it was hard to hear and understand him. Luckily, there was a server who brought a small table from outside and moved some things around so that we could have a table, definitely made the bar a lot more favorable as we probably would have just left pretty quickly. Being new to Salt Lake City, I was unfamiliar with the old location for this fine little pub. I see it while driving all the time, and have wanted to see the inside. Today was that day. I sat down at the bar and found the people who frequent the place to be very friendly and very welcoming. My type of place. Not the biggest bar in the world , but what it lacks in size it makes up for inexpensive liquor and friendly customers. I'm sure I will be back. It's very close to our house. And it's one of the few places that actually has Bulleit, my favorite bourbon. Both kinds. The Bourbon aka Frontier Whiskey... and their rye whiskey which is quite tasty as well. Back in the day, when the TR was a little tavern in a small A-frame located in the very heart of Sugarhouse, we all loved hanging out there after work (or during work), because it was a friendly neighborhood tavern with a welcoming atmosphere. Twenty years later, the Tap Room has relocated a few times, but has managed to remain a fixture in the Sugarhouse district. I like this place as it has a very local vibe with quite a few "regulars" and it is very toned down. They have a good sized bar with a row of 4 tv's over it, as well as some pool tables and another tv in the larger room. Even on a "busy" night at Tap Room, it still doesn't feel that crowded compared to many of the other bars around. They do breaking bingo (Monday) and geeks who drink trivia (Wednesday), and those are both fun nights to go and relax and chat with friends and the friendly people who come here. It is mostly an older crowd, but not exclusively, which is just the kind of vibe I enjoy. The service has always been good here, and again, it's a small bar so you aren't really ever waiting for anything. Everyone has their own personal preferences for what a bar should be of course. Some like it wild, loud and crazy, but I prefer the Tap Room. read more

This bar is in an unlikely location...the old Este pizza place. As a result the crowd is pretty small and pretty chill. I prefer small crowds, but even with a few more folks this bar is great. Its a little divey, but nice enough to please your more demanding friends. The service is friendly, the drinks are cheep, and the patio is AWESOME. I am a sucker for a good patio and the Tap Room totally succeeds in creating a fun outdoor atmosphere. Skip the more crowded campfire lounge, or strange layout of sugarhouse pub and give the tap room a try. It seems to have the right balance of a nice but divey laid back bar. read more
