Prices very fair; house wine is adequate. Bar prices are very competitive, but selection is limited- no Bloody Marys. Food is spiced to your request, Brown rice avail as a substitute for the health conscious. Service was excellent. Decor was mid-Thai, could have used cloth napkins, but you can't have everything. Portions generous: wife had Drunken Noodle with Shrimp, and she was amazed at the size & number of shrimp. We gave this place a try after 4 years of having another bad experience. We ordered take out for yellow curry chicken. The chicken was stringy and soft - I had very high suspicion that it was undercooked. We proceeded the boil the curry hard for a few minutes, the chicken was noticeable tougher after. I have ordered from here a few times recently through Door Dash. The food typically is delivered within 30 to 40 minutes at most. I have ordered the Larb Gai, chicken lettuce wraps, shrimp summer rolls, chicken pad cashew, beef drunken noodles, chicken satay, and the tasty Thai lo Meir. (Not all in one order!! :) The Larb Gai is considered a salad (if have not had it mostly meat) and is typically something I order when having Thai food, so I have a lot to compare it to. Over all of my orders this has been consistently yummy. It would be nice if there was more of the shredded carrots do each bite includes some. Other than that the flavors are spot on. (Definitely order again) The Chicken lettuce wrap has also been consistently yummy. It would be nice if the lettuce didn't include the core (more yellow than green), as wrapping up your bite is difficult. NOTE: do not expect to get something like PF Chang's lettuce wraps, those are not Thai cuisine. (Definitely order again) The shrimp summer rolls are usually part of my order at Thai and Vietnamese restaurants. ( I sometimes get chicken, but have not yet here) Unfortunately, these have not had consistent flavors. Most of the orders were good, but a few times there was too much mint which over powered all the other flavors. The shrimp pieces have been on the small side making the roll more a veggie version. All that said, they have been very fresh and and tasty. The peanut sauce on the side is pretty thick making the peanuts difficult to distribute evenly; after a few dips or spoonfuls (if you're nice enough to share) you are left with mostly the sauce without the peanut pieces. (Will Order again when craving a fresh and mostly healthy appetizer.) The chicken pad cashew is not something I typically order for myself, but my wife usually will. That said I will usually have a little bit. At most restaurants I've been to those bites a yummy. Unfortunately, I did not like the flavor. My wife also did not like it. (Would not order again) The Beef Drunken noodles are often what I order as my main dish at Thai restaurants. Overall their version has been pretty good, but my most recent orders have not been. I am not sure why but the noodles in those orders were stuck together in giant clumps. I also think the amount of meat in the dish is too small. (Might order again, but I think I will try the Kaprow next time) The chicken satay is not worth many words. They were very dry and lacked the peanutty flavor I expect. There was also no sauce to dip in. (Will not order again) The lo mein is in the same boat. One bite and that dish went straight in the trash. That's harsh, I know, but it was that bad too me. (Definitely will not order again!) I have only tried a few items off the menu, so my overall rating should not sway you from trying it yourself. Very nice place and really friendly husband and wife owners who were our servers when we went. We were there at an odd hour 3:15pm on a Saturday so maybe other servers weren't there yet for the dinner service. The tableware was very high quality starting with the exquisite water glasses, heavy fancy plates and nice silverware. We ordered vegetable pot stickers $6.95, shrimp pad thai $15.95, drunken noodles with tofu $12.95, and pad see eew noodles with tofu $12.95. All were very good. We highly recommend this place. Overall: it was good, but not exceptional. If you live in the area and are craving Thai, this works. Our table ordered two curries, one soup, one noodle dish, summer rolls and papaya salad. Pros: - the ambiance is lovely. The restaurant has a mishmash of country tables and chairs that all seem to work and give a relaxing, country vibe. - The papaya salad and summer rolls tasted fresh with crisp vegetables. You also didn't get the gummy texture that sometimes happens with rice paper. - the drunken noodles were not greasy. Not sure why they changed their name - maybe management change? But anyways, Bua Thai didn't disappoint. I always thought the service at this Thai restaurant was superb and I'm glad it stayed that way. Our waitress was attentive and kind. She kept checking up on us, which was nice. I got the usual Thai Box ($15) that I always get. This is basically a bento box with your choice of a Thai entree. I got the pad thai, which was good. My mom got the drunken noodles, which weren't too spicy. There was plenty of food with the box. Dumplings, a chicken dish, egg rolls, etc. I had to take home some food bc it was so much! In addition, my Thai iced coffee really hit the spot. The decor upgraded to cute dainty furniture. Almost like sisters thai in fairfax. Overall, I was pleased with this new change. Went here based on all the good reviews. Not sure if it was an off night or what but we were very disappointed. We tried some appetizers and seafood noodle dishes. The seafood (scallops) did not seem fresh, fried calamari was dry and tough to chew. Additionally there was a stale/ off putting smell from my husbands noodle dish. We both asked for mild but mine was made much spicier. We eat at Thai places often and this was not the quality of food we are used to. Finally a drunken noodle that's not salty! I really enjoyed the drunken noodle and with the jalapeño spice try it added a nice kick to it. Before we ordered our main dish, we got Thai dumplings and the sauce that was put on top was really good with the cilantro. Make sure you eat it right away or it'll get dry. Or dip it around in the sauce. My friend and I were talking... hence it got a little dry, but a little swirl in the sauce fixed the dryness. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure that everything was okay and made sure that our cups were filled with water before it emptied out. I'm not too sure who came out to serve our food, but he also was very kind and asked if he could clear out any plates before he just took them. Many other restaurants tend to take them without actually confirming whether or not we still need it. The mango sticky rice is pretty good, but very different than the ones that I've tried. The rice is blue and they have a coconut liquid base. Make sure you like sesame seeds (as I do) because it's mixed in the rice. I will def. be back if I need a dose of Thai food. read more

I went to this smaller restaurant and not one person was dining inside. The service was a bit slow from the young daughter of the family answering all the calls and taking orders, but once she took my order, she was very chipper and charming. The Thai Tea was delicious, as well as the Thai coffee. The food was pretty good compared to many other Thai restaurants. The decor of the restaurant was pretty with floral vibes and the prices were decent also. We ordered take-out from Bua Thai the night before Thanksgiving, anticipating a busy next day of cooking. What a mistake. Bigly. We've never had such bland, uninspired Thai food. With the exception of some tasty Thai dumplings, which tasted fresh and made with some actual passion and care, the Tom Ka soup, Pineapple fried rice, and Pad See Ew, were beyond disappointing, bordering on revolting. The soup lacked acid or spice, had overcooked strips of chicken breast (akin to shoe leather) and mystery "vegetables" swimming in a chalky-colored, watered-down broth with not a hint of flavor. The pineapple fried rice was dried out, and I don't know how this is possible, utterly lacking in pineapple flavor (save for a rare chunk). Frozen peas, carrots, stale cashews, and, gulp, raisins (you read that right), and zero Thai essence added up to a thoroughly failed dish. The Pad See Ew -- "ew" was right -- had pallid, tasteless noodles, unseasoned, dry, tough beef, and was also mind-numbingly bland, sadly also lacking not a single hint of Thai-ness. This is the type of soulless food you'd imagine being served in an elderly rest home's cafeteria's "let's explore the world" menu. Not only was this the worst Thai food we've ever had, it was also the worst takeout meal we've ever ordered. In an area teeming with amazing, far less expensive Thai cuisine, I cannot grasp how this restaurant possibly remains open. Never again. read more

We ordered delivery to our hotel from Bua Thai. We placed our order on yelp, which was very convenient. We had their spicy calamari, fried shrimp, red curry, and drunken noodles (both with chicken). When we first got the bag we noticed that there was a very strong fishy smell that you normally don't get with calamari or shrimp. I immediately thought of a previous review where it was reported that a vegetarian order was very fishy. It was pretty strong and not overly appetizing. The spicy calamari was good and very spicy. The calamari itself was very chewy but the flavor was good. The entrees were both spicy as well. Overall the flavors were good but I wasn't blown away. I would definitely say vegetarians or anyone who has an aversion to fish should absolutely avoid. I like some sea food but it was a bit much for me. read more

Additionally, with the restaurant industry taking a big hit from the pandemic, I'm inclined to be merciful. But. The Massaman curry that my wife and I ate tonight is the worst we have ever had. The dish is more accurately described as Spicy Peanut Butter Chicken.
