One of the best Thai restaurants in Saratoga County. I have been here multiple times and never been disappointed. My usual dishes were Tom Khar soup and Avavado roll with a side of rice. This time I tried the lunch menu (red curry) and I just ate it all....it's just a right blend of spices that wants you go back for more. While I was there I stopped by to say hello to my friend who lives in the building. I definitely would recommend thos place.

Yum! yum!.... delicious food, great atmosphere, good service. I come here just for the avacdo hand rolls and tom kha soup... just love it!! I've had pineapple fried rice and thai red curry (which was almost similar to the tom kha soup) .... mango sticky rice for dessert... everything was delicious, consistent..good portion size as well and affordable too.

Pho with pork

I had a bit of a cold and really wanted my cure all, noodle soup or more specifically spicy Pho or Ramen. I am not from the area and did a search and unfortunately on Mondays many places are closed so I ended up here. I wouldn't normally go to a Sushi/Thai place for Pho but it was listed under "House Specialties". Should have gone with my first inclination. One of the best parts of Pho is that it is served with a bunch of items to customize like Ming beans, basil, jalapeño and the condiment cart with spice, vinegars, hoisin etc. Sadly my Pho came with nothing but the salt and pepper and light and regular soy on the table. I didn't even get the Asian soup spoon or chopsticks. I asked for hot sauce and some chopsticks. The hot sauce was good and added to the relatively light tasting broth, it is possible it may have even been a vegetarian based broth. The protein choices to add to the Pho were also odd, chicken, pork, beef and seafood. No meatballs or tendon. I went with their suggestion of pork. The pork serving was generous in the bowl but was also weirdly thickly cut. I am pretty sure if I had chosen beef it would have been fully cooked and not the thin slices that cook in the ripping hot broth that you normally get. Three stars because it was good if not traditional and the place was clean but if I go back I would not order it again.

Food was delicious, plate was beautiful decorated. It's a quiet relaxing environment.the servers are kind and nice and make the mood better.

Thai fried rice? No seasoning. Horrible.

We've ordered takeout from here five times during the pandemic. The pad Thai is the only thing that's decent (and it's not great). Last night, we got the Thai fried rice. It's white, unseasoned rice with BOILED chicken (been boiling for at least eight days) and steamed veggies. I'm not really sure how this could ever be construed as fried rice? Spent $65 on two pad thais (chicken and tofu), a Thai fried rice, and two peanut sauces. Hard pass from now on.

I stopped in for a weekday sushi lunch, not for the Thai dishes. Everything started out well enough, as I was escorted to the 8-seat, mostly empty, sushi bar. The regular indoor and patio tables held about a dozen other customers as I entered. I was pleased to see cloth napkins and actual hashi but noticed the muted television in the background and was then handed a menu with lots of photos of some else's sushi. Sorry, I haven't been a fan of picture menus for a very long time. Seeing a couple of temaki available, I ordered a handful of nigiri, a temaki and a maki. The physical sushi bar here dominates the center of this restaurant. You would not guess that reading the limited sushi menu, and the sushi bar also seems to diminish itself. The elevated display cooler completely hides the chef (photo) - they might as well prepare their creations in another time zone. The whole idea of a sushi bar is to interact with the chef. My experience found that very difficult here. I enjoyed a simple soup waiting for the main. The two-plate main was simply decorated, but a bit uneven. The rice itself was not bad. The spicy salmon temaki presentation was a bit sloppy, but the taste was good, and it was actually spicy - a healthy dose of cayenne pepper seemed to be mixed in. The nigiri also had some lower notes. I was surprised that the hotate was prepared as careless gunkenmaki, instead of a simple nigiri. The pieces themselves did not appear evenly cut, but random chunks. If I was suspicious, I'd think this was solely to allow the chef to use cheaper frozen scallop pieces instead of whole scallops. On another nigiri, the chef apparently tore a visible hole in the white fish, and didn't bother to remove, correct or even cover the error (photo). Perhaps I am exaggerating the importance of presentation as part of the sushi experience. Overall, I get the feeling that the chef was, at best, distracted, while creating my meal. I'll probably return, but if the chef can hide behind the counter while assembling sushi, I have no reason to expect an improvement any time soon. 2019 06 26. S 16.

Excellent lunch specials, fresh great quality food. We ordered lunch box specials with sushi, sashimi, sunamono and tuna tataki. Really really good. Very fair price also. Service was friendly and helpful.

This is a great place for lunch in Malta. The sushi is delicious and fresh! One of my favorites is the Dollar roll.

In a town chock full of Japanese sushi restaurants, this new entry - located in the former (and…read moremuch missed) seafood dining favorite, 30 Lake, two streets off the main shopping area downtown - Omakase is a stand out. Which is notable since it's costly. How costly you say? Well, my lunch set me back $70 which - for a cocktail, appetizer and one sushi roll - is high. Very high. The pricing cost them 1/2 a point in my review. The ambiance is more nightclub than Asian restaurant. Rather dark but not in a bad way. Modern Japanese? Maybe. Just not the 'feel' I expected on a Friday afternoon. I was warmly welcomed. I think the staff might upgrade their attire to complement their fine dining prices. Just sayin'. As previously mentioned, Omakase's prices are high. Think Upscale NYC which - as my hubs pointed out when I shared my luncheon experience with him - seems to be the direction that much of Saratoga Springs's downtown is going. For example, their Tom Yum Soup, which is offered in most Japanese restaurants, at $15.60 is twice what you would pay elsewhere locally. My Tuna Tartare was elegantly presented. It was similar to other sushi places I've been to except that the tuna was mushy instead of small pieces stop the mashed avocado. I did not find this especially appealing. What really set this dish apart from other Japanese places where I have eaten it was the crunch bits on top, the accompanying wasabi chips and sprinkling of micro greens. Nice touch but not worth $24 which is about double what I have paid at other dining establishments. A review of the menu shows that sushi prices are twice the cost of other Japanese places in town. I ordered what I will call their Signature Roll (not its real name) at $24. I tried to tie my leftovers to their menu without success. Was it good? Yes. The crunch bit on top were different. Was it worth the hefty roll price tag? Hmmm ... not sure. Service was attentive, 5 stars. If you are looking for a new take on sushi and have deep pockets, then definitely give Omakase a try. The menu has many chef reactions that you will not find elsewhere. And because I am a sushi aficionado and love creativity in dining, I will return to experience other interesting items on the menu. The chef's creative approach to sushi gets 5 stars. Keep in mind that street parking can be a challenge (as it was for the former 30 Lake). I give Omakase 4-1/2 stars.

The sushi was fantastic--the rice-to-fish ratio was spot on (about 90% sushi rice and 10% rich,…read morefresh fish), exactly how it should be. The rock shrimp bites were another winner: mostly shrimp with just a light, crisp batter, paired perfectly with the delicious yum yum dipping sauce. Even the salad bed that it sat on wasnt just decoration. It was actually a seasoned salad. 100% will be going back. A real gem!

We were a group of nine that included a few children. We went all out. The clear soup was good and flavorful. The salad was fresh and we loved the dressing. It wasn't the typical orange ginger but a light dressing. Delicious! I got the shrimp and scallop combo hibachi and I love that it comes with both rice and noodles. Lots of fresh vegetables. The scallops and shrimp were meaty and perfectly grilled. Others got steak cooked to their liking and some got salmon. Apps were edamame and a dragon roll and spicy tuna. I didn't try the apps but it was a fancy presentation. Everything was just so good. The service was impeccable. The chef was super engaging with everyone, including the littles. Hibachi is always fun and they are pros on fun. They handled our group with humor and the theatrics you've become accustomed to at hibachi dinner were on point. We went there on a Sunday, late afternoon, and it was amazing. I also got a fried ice cream for my birthday with fireworks! Thank you! The restaurant is big and can accommodate large parties. I want to go back soon! I do want to mention that the person that was paying for this birthday dinner didn't realize that gratuity was already added. They came back to give her the extra cash back that she had put in her payment. She was so grateful she still added a little extra!

Sake Bon is an absolute hibachi heaven in the Capital Region! I don't have any other that can quite…read morecompare to the quality of food they serve here. Their hibachi is always delicious, fun, & entertaining. Their chefs have more than a decade of experience and their teppanyaki skills really show it. Whether you're eating solo or with a friend, or a whole group, remember that you can still take a seat in front of the hot and flaming grill. However, you can still get the hibachi meals at a regular table but won't be able to watch the show (I highly recommend watching the show and enjoying the meal at the grill). They have great lunch specials and even kid's meals for those looking to keep the kids entertained. My go-to is their HIBACHI COMBO with STEAK + SCALLOPS. The chef will most definitely cook the protein to your liking. Not all hibachi spots include both fried rice and noodles in the meal, but Sake Bon does! The carbs are so packed with garlicky soy flavor, unlike many other places I've tried (bold, umami, and addicting...no kidding). The meal is complete with a side salad topped with the creamiest ginger dressing and a clear soup loaded with the perfect amount of sliced mushrooms and an onion flavored broth. Pair it with a nice cocktail, wine, or sake... you're all set! Their apps are also very generously portioned, so it's a good idea to share. It's always a great time with friends and family at Sake Bon. Enjoy their hibachi, sushi and sashimi , rice and noodles, plus so much more. Their fish is fresh and tasty if you like sushi and sashimi. Overall a wonderful Japanese restaurant that serves delicious food and drink that will leave you happy and satisfied. So grab a seat at their bar and enjoy some drinks and apps before heading over to one of their hibachi grills or dine at a table for an intimate and exquisite dinner.
