Stopped here for lunch on our way back from an errand in Glenville. Fine would be the word to describe the basic experience. There were no real complaints about the food except that when it comes to sushi I prefer a more Japanese experience. The service was excellent and even if the food had been bad it would have been worth the opportunity to meet the young lady pictured at the top of the page in the traditonal blue Thai clothing. She was a delight to speak with and her smile would brighten any room. We enjoyed the tuna tataki and sushi. The restaurant was extremely clean and the decor was pleasant. We order delivery from Bua Thai Sushi every few weeks. The food is always hot and well-packaged. My favorites are the Yellow Curry and the Shrimp Tempura Roll. I'm not a big fan of their Pad Thai or their Crab Rangoon, but they aren't awful. read more

Been here twice now and the food is very good, the people are nice, the area is clean and smells great. But holy moly the ingredients must be shipped in from the homeland as you can see by the prices. Maybe I'm just a cheapskate but paying $20 for 2 sushi rolls and a drink seems a bit much. Another time, I ordered the Thai Fried Rice with chicken which was $15 for a tiny portion and I was still hungry afterward. Lower the prices and maybe I'll stop by a lot more often. read more

There are barely even words. Place was empty when I went to pick up the food. We go to other this places in the area and most have been fine. The major complaint is the food flavor/quality. I got the prik pow which was flavorless. Wife got pad Thai that tasted like it was covered in BBQ sauce. We also ordered the crab Rangoon, but the filling tasted rancid. Bua Thai Sushi is a lesser competitor to other local competitors. We decided to give this place a shot since they are currently offering the $15 for $30 Local Flavor voucher. Despite being Saturday evening, this place was fairly dead and had only one other couple eating there. Our service was okay, so we had no complaints there. I ate their drunken noodle entree, which was just all right. The menu listed it being very spicy, but it barely had any kick to it. The portion size was standard, and the price was a little high ($14.95). I noticed the sushi and dinner specials are priced very high compared to similar restaurants in this area. I suppose this is a consequence of renting a spot within Ellsworth Commons, but it still doesn't bode well for a solvent business model. TL;DR: Bua Thai Sushi is okay. It's not anything spectacular, and the premium prices don't make it very competitive unless you live in Ellsworth Commons and don't want to drive. read more

My girlfriend and I wanted something different tonight. Saw Door Dash partnered with BUA Thai so we ordered. We got the Thai sampler, green curry shrimp and cashew with chicken. It was nothing short of fantastic. Everything was cooked to perfection the flavors were complex and infectious. Spicy, sweet just splendid. Will definitely visit soon and order regularly. I love this place! I come here pretty regularly and most of the time they get it right. The few times they have messed up they are very quick to fix the problem with no problems. Great customer service and the food is always fresh. I love ordering take out for lunch and walking downstairs to pick it up. It also makes a great lunch/dinner hang out and it is so cozy and intimate to have a great conversation with friends. I would recommend visiting and getting to know the staff. Tonight we returned to Bua Thai The second time around was even better! This time we invited my daughter-in- law and 16 month old granddaughter. As an entree, my daughter-in- law had the Thai green curry with chicken. My husband had the pineapple thai rice, which he later drenched with the broth from the green curry, it was that good. I thoroughly enjoyed the thai rice with pork. The portions were huge! Each of us left the restaurant with tomorrow's lunch. As an added bonus, the owner, Lek, asked if we had a coupon (found on Localflavor.com). We didn't. However she graciously gave us a 20% discount off our entire order, and a bowl of fried ice cream on the house. read more

Recently opened but a little out of sight. Really enjoyed the mussaman curry definitely on par with some of the better curries I've had at other places. The spring rolls were excellent, nice and crisp very fresh, and not greasy in the least. As for the sushi, we are generally skeptical of fusion places, however what we had was some of the best in the capital region. Will definitely be back! read more

We tried this place bc it's literally 3 mins from our home. We tried their veggie gyozas and they were good just didn't see anywhere on the menu where it said fried and we prefer steamed. Between my wife and I we got 4 sushi rolls; Washington, Dynamite, Dora and Crazy. We liked the Dora and Dynamite (even though the Dynamite is a mushier roll so ppl with texture issues won't like it). The salmon skin in the Crazy was just too hard, I couldn't eat it and the Washington was dry. There is no sauce on top or anything my wife ate maybe two or three pieces of it. Their wasabi isn't that hot unless you use A LOT of it. The place itself is really nice inside and the waitress was friendly. There is no refill on sodas because they use can sodas. We'd return and skip sushi and order from their regular menu. read more

Tried this place last night and it was great! I had the pad see eew and my husband had the red curry with chicken I've been craving thai since we moved here in August. It isn't exactly what I was expecting but it does the job. They have a sushi menu with the normal rolls and then a few noodle dishes, fried rice and curry. The only thing I wish they had were noodle bowls such as pho. The pad see eew was delicious. It had the perfect amount of sauce and veggies to go along with the noodles and chicken. My husband liked the curry and his only complaint was that it was a little sweet for him. But he said he would try the green or yellow curry next time. Bua is close to my job so I'm sure I'll be enjoying it again in the future read more

We started going to Bua Thai when it first opened: we're locals and our regular sushi/thai haunt in Saratoga Springs gets so crowded during track season so we decided to give Bua Thai a shot. Our first visits showed all the signs of a new restaurant: OK Thai food but spotty service that spoke little English, good Sushi but deadly slow preparation. However, we stuck with them and our last couple of visits have shown us that this restaurant has really come into its own. The waitresses are easier to understand and much better at anticipating, the Sushi comes faster, more varied, and better made, and the Thai food has made leaps and bounds of progress. The ambience lacks somewhat compared to the other Thai place we go to but the food and Sushi are now just as good. We'll be returning for the good food, the relative ease of parking, the kid-ready staff, and the ease of getting a seat even during prime times in track season. Our favorite dishes include the spicy octopus salad, the drunken noodles, and bamboo shoot supper! I hope you enjoy it like we have! read more

My sister and I live nearby, and we both like Asian food, so we decided to give Bua in Malta a shot. The restaurant was not busy on this particular weekday, and it was just the two of us and two other small parties several tables away from us. The waitress took our orders, two simple noodle dishes, and then the fun began. We waited, and then waited some more, and then some more with no communication whatsoever as to when the food might be arriving, or any attempt by anybody to at least pretend to act concerned about... I don't know, the customers perhaps? Finally the waitress brought the food over, no apologies and completely indifferent about the longer than necessary wait, and placed the dishes on the table. The noodles appeared to be a bit dry, visually, but that was just a preview of what was about to transpire. With one poke of my fork, the entire mushy, stuck together mass of intertwined glop came right off the plate. The whole plate of food was dangling from my fork, and I was trying to eat it like it was a candy apple! The noodles were stuck together as if someone had mixed epoxy with them, and I could barely knock this disgusting clump off my fork with my knife. It was like jamming a pitchfork into a bale of hay. They should have served it on a stick - so I could eat it cotton candy style! What a pathetic excuse for a bowl of noodles from an alleged Thai restaurant, and to top it off, the food had absolutely no flavor. My sister was busy dousing her "noodles" with soy sauce, not only to add some flavor, but to moisten this parched heap of human mouth gag on a fork so that she didn't choke to death trying to swallow it. The waitress was not well versed in the English language, so getting into a debate was pointless. We ate some of the food, doggy bagged the rest and then threw it in the garbage the next day because by then the adhesive, or whatever it was that they put in these noodles had set and it was not edible without a hammer and chisel on hand. I wrote not one, but two emails to Bua explaining the situation to them. The tone was very civil, non confrontational, and I only expressed a desire for them to acknowledge that we had a bad experience, and that perhaps they might appreciate the feedback and show a tiny bit of empathy. Considering that the place is empty most of the time, you would think that they would be interested in retaining what few customers they have. Evidently they just don't care, so I will not be going back to Bua, and my sister will not be going back either. They are the epitome of horrible customer service, mediocre food (and I'm being kind) and for those of you who have a notion to try this place, all I can say is to be careful what you wish for! read more
