I saw this place advertised on a pamphlet and decided to stop by on a Saturday night. The venue was a bit small for my taste with nowhere to sit, which I understood because it's "Saturday" night. I asked my husband for a margarita and he went to bar to order me one. I order something simple because there's just no way someone can screw up such a simple popular drink, well I was wrong! The drink was pretty much a cup of sugar! I had my husband taste it but he was too embarrassed to ask the bartender to fix it, but I made him. Not sure if he just bought me a new one to shut me up and save himself the embarrassment or if he actually demanded that they fix it. He came back with another margarita which this time tasted more like club soda mixed with something lemon and no alcohol or salt???On top of that each drink was $12 plus a tip which comes out to $15 bucks...for what a drink in a plastic cup full of ice and a crappy mix? NOT WORTH IT SAVE YOUR MONEY! I also placed an ordered or brisket nachos...also a BIG mistake! There was no brisket but grizzle all over the nachos and bbq sauce all over the nachos? Maybe it's a Chicago thing that they use bbq sauce instead of cheese it was definitely not something I was expecting but something that I was able to over look if the nachos actually had lean brisket meat. Just adding brisket to the nachos was additional $4 dollars and the nachos themselves were $10 or $11 bucks. Okay, the band was AWESOME! they played really great songs and they were really good! So whoever played on 5/12 Saturday rebook them! The bouncer at the front was so nice and professional. So thank you both! Overall, they get three stars for the band and the bouncer at the front door. Mixed thoughts. Our server was very busy, but extremely nice and attentive. She was knowledgable about the food which helped answer some of our questions before we ordered. We had a reservation on OpenTable and got right in when expected. $6 for a Miller Lite can or $22/bucket of 5 is a little pricey for this area. Salad ($11) was ...oily. Who greases lettuce? So weird. I tried the spoon bread side--tiny crock for the price. Salty as heck. Ambiance--cute but crowded and LOUD. We couldn't carry on a conversation. At 6:30, the band next door at Joes was warming up and it was super loud with the divider doors shut. How does that work when Bub's band starts playing? We didn't stay to find out. One and done, I'm afraid. Not a great value and we didn't care for the food. Five stars go to the sweet waitress and hostesses. 1 star to the food. I've been going to Bub City since I first tried their food at Windy City Smokeout. Working in the health field I understand there are certain restrictions that need to be implemented, however their new menu is so saddening. Had dinner here a week or so ago. We were pretty impressed. It is not as good as smoque downtown but it's pretty darn good. I got the 3 meat platter and it was A LOT of food. That was maybe the only negative was that the waiter did not say, "hey man, that is a LOT of food". My wife and I could have shared it so we ended up taking a lot of it home with us. I got the ribs, brisket and hot link on the platter. The brisket and hot link were excellent. The ribs were just ok. It said they were fall off the bone tender -- they were not. But everything was pretty good...we loved the sprouts. Tasted like they deep fry them or something and then toss them in a mustard based sauce. Yum. Service and ambience were very good. read more

I don't normally give reviews, but I feel like I have to for this situation. I walked in here not knowing what to expect and it was an awesome place. The BBQ was really really good, and everyone we were with loved what they got. So we were all just hanging out having a good time when this group of guys started getting really aggressive with the girls we were there with. It was a really awkward situation and we didn't want to leave but luckily before things got too out of hand one of the security guards named Gary saw what was going on and escorted the guys out by himself so we could continue enjoying ourselves. Loved it!! We are from out of town & knew we wanted to visit Rosemont area. We didn't know which restaurant to eat & enjoy with so many to choose from. So, after walking around and seeing which restaurant was the most hopping, we ended up at Bub City! O.M.G, it was great! If you're craving BBQ this place will do your stomach good. Went with the brisket with a mixture of lean and fat and it was delicious!! For the price however the portions were a bit on the smaller side. Would have given it 5 stars but the music was a bit too loud, we went at 9pm, and I didn't get my appetizer until after my meal was already over. I can not eat much here since I am a Vegan, but I do like there mixed drink and cocktail options. If possible to give 0 stars, I would. Bub City earned all of them. I went there for dinner solo while in town on business on a random Wed night. The restaurant had a good buzz, but plenty of open tables. After being completely ignored for almost 10 minutes at the near bar, I ignored my better judgement to just leave, and walked over to the bar on the far side. It took about 5 minutes to be recognized there, but I already knew what I want so I was able to place my order right away. That's where it went all downhill. I waited...and waited...and waited. At about the 35 minute mark, the bartender came over and assured me my food would be right out. The kitchen was just running a little behind. At the 45 minute mark the bartender told me she didn't know what was taking so long, or how long it would be until the food came out. At that point, with almost an hour invested, and famished from a long day, I requested my credit card back (she took it to open a tab for the food) and left. Starving. I walked a few doors down to Park Tavern, which was significantly busier, bellied up to the bar there and within 10 minutes had a fantastic dinner in front of me. Kudos to Park Tavern. Living in the Rosemont/Des Plaines area for 3 years now, so I had high hopes for this place. Amazing whiskey selection, and great band. However the service was aweful. My wife went to the bartender to ask who the band was that was playing and he shrugged his shoulders as if that would be an acceptable response. Later in the evening, we tried to order a drink and waited 20 min at the bar, this time the female bartender asked what we would like and mid conversation she turned her attention to a large group of a party and ignored us. I went here after my graduation. Parking was a little hard because the parking is behind the restaurant but it is one way. It is free as long as you validate your parking ticket. Theace wasn't too crowded so we got a seat right away. I ordered the brisket with a side if fried pickles. I shared the plate with my mom. So delicious. I got the Kean neat, so I didn't have to cut away so much fat. The fried pickles were my favorite. I usually don't like the batter around the pickle because I think they tend to be too cardboard. First impression upon entering- the decibel level was around 100 and made it impossible to have a normal conversation (even the guy who came over to run my credit card could not hear me yelling to request plastic utensils). We ordered some Texas Torpedos (deep fried jalapeños stuffed with cheese). They were okay - the texture of the peppers made me think they were undercooked. My bacon cheeseburger was okay, but expensive- a bacon double cheeseburger from Wendy's is slightly better and is less expensive. My wife ordered mac and cheese with brisket- she said it was really good and had chunks of meat throughout the dish. The server was initially attentive and my wife got her requested beer quickly. He also stopped by after the food was served to ask if everything was okay. But then he got busy with other tables and didn't return for about twenty-five minutes. My wife said she would have ordered another beer if he had come back sooner. Even if my food had been terrific, the overall experience would still have been significantly diminished by the excessively loud music. We won't visit this restaurant again. read more

There is country music playing at high volumes so if you don't like country this isn't the place. I like country so it was good with me. So I will say that everyone here is a lumberjack. They all wear the same thing, waitresses and customers alike. I guess looking like a lumberjack makes you country lol. The service is slower, it appears they need to hire more lumberjacks to take orders and make drinks. It was one lumberjack for like 25 tables! At least that's what it seemed like. So on to the food ...I ordered the burger. It was like $12 something- and came with tater tots. I was expecting a pub burger for that price. The burger was tiny af. It's fine. We've been there twice. I had the sampler platter. Brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. My wife however can't get enough of the chipotle-brisket mac and cheese. That's why we keep going back. It's been crowded both times, so prepare to wait at least 30 minutes. Some tables are positioned in a way that the music it way too loud! I like ribs...big boned, meaty, juicy ribs. Baby back ribs are generally not big or juicy. They can be meaty and are supposed to be tasty. Bub City just showed me how price and quality don't go hand in hand. At $18.95 for a half slab of 6 ribs...with a half piece of plain, dry, thick bread, a few circle-slices of sweet pickles, and large thimble of macerated cole slaw, it was the worst value I've had in a long time. The bread was listed as Texas toast, but it was no more Texas toast than the ribs were meaty. Not Texas toasted and not meaty. I love bbq sauces. They offer 3 types...I didn't care for any of them. My wife liked the sound of one of their cheeseburgers...yet she didn't want the cheese. In spite of ordering it without the cheese, it came with cheese. The burger came with fries, but she wanted tater tots. A $3 upcharge! BTW, at $29.95, they took the record for highest price I've ever seen for a slab of ribs...and it comes with no sides, just the pittance I mentioned above. Ok this is a unusual review. Only because I'm usually moved strongly towards a feeling about a place, Bub City just didn't have that thing for me. It's nice and clean. I'm not a fan of the decor. The theme of the restaurant just wasn't my thing. My food was average nothing wrong, but also no "special sauce". To be completely fair I was in a large group so it wasn't the full menu.
