I work remotely for a company out of state, but two of my colleagues were in town for a conference at one of the many O'Hare/Rosemont area hotels. They asked if I wanted to meet for breakfast, and so after looking up the options close to their hotel (which was surprisingly limited), I stumbled upon Elly's. After looking at Yelp reviews, it seemed like a great option and would be easy for them to Uber to. And it was a great choice. We ordered coffee, which they promptly refilled multiple times for us, and then two of us got the crepes with either strawberries or blueberries on top, and the other got one of the omlettes. The crepes were extremely good. Portions are great and prices are reasonable given the amount of food. The staff was friendly at 6:45 in the morning (they were way more awake than I was) No photos of the food because it was my first time meeting one of my colleagues IRL (and only the second time meeting the other) and I didn't want to be weird haha. But trust me that the food looked great. I took my leftovers home to my parents' house (because I was visiting them afterward). I let my dad have them because I knew they wouldn't survive the extra 90 minutes back to my house when I was done with my visit. He told me later he put vanilla ice cream on them and they were delicious, so they held up well in the 45 minutes it took me to get from Elly's to their house, and being reheated later in the day. I've been to Elly's before (definitely the one in Jefferson Park, possibly this one too) but it's been more than five years since. I don't remember it being this bad but... now I know, I guess. Food was not great. The pancakes were kind of--well, gummy is the word that springs to mind. Not pleasant to eat, at any rate. The omelet I ordered, the Southwestern Omelet I think, was ok. It was a bit thin, but maybe that's just because there were a lot of ingredients in it. The "Homemade" lemonade tasted like it was fountain lemonade. I left half of it, and the half that was consumed was mostly because my child wanted some. That was especially disappointing, because I don't order lemonade at restaurants unless it's not Minute Maid because that stuff is awful--and if Elly's truly has homemade lemonade, they should be embarrassed that it tastes identical to what Coke sells. I don't usually eat everything when I go out for breakfast and am happy to take half home for another breakfast, but I didn't want to take any of this home with me. I will say that they're fast--we were here less than an hour. I think it took fewer than 15 minutes from the time we were seated to when we got our meal, and we didn't order immediately upon being seated. I was very pleasantly surprised by this one. I'd been hearing about this chain for some time and we finally decided to give it a go. We got A LOT of food at a very affordable price. All the food we got was up to par as far as quality and quantity. They also had these Cinnabuns that looked absolutely delicious a few people around us got to try. Service was good and attentive. The restaurant in itself is rather large with ample seating. Becoming more of a breakfast person throughout my lifetime and this was definitely better than any ihop I've ever tried! read more

When we got there, it was a 15-20 minute wait. We waited and it was spot on. They definitely pride themselves on getting people in. The service was great as well. I personally had the berry mascarpone French toast, a side of two eggs, and the iced caramel latte. The French toast was amazing. I am still thinking about it today. I ordered the 16 oz latte, but it felt too milky. I'm assuming whether you order a 12 oz or 16 oz, it is still one shot of espresso in the latte. I ordered a shot of espresso and it made the latte way better. If I didn't, I would have just been drinking an iced caramel milk. My partner had the southwest omelette and yum berry Belgian waffle. Decided to grab a bite after dropping my partner off at O'Hare and what a pleasant surprise Ellys was! The order mentioned it wasn't going to be done for 45 min, but I was at least 30 min early. I let the person inside know I was outside waiting with my dog, and was able to get my to go order super fast. The restaurant feels huge and has a family style slightly elevated diner feel. Loved the open kitchen area of the coffee bar. The pastries were on display and really made me wonder if I should've grabbed a croissant! I got the Latina skillet which came with two pancakes and biscuits and gravy, so it felt like a lot of bang for my buck. $25 for it all with tip and I ate it over the course of three meals. As mentioned, I got this to go. I live 40 min from this restaurant. I had a bite of the b&g in traffic and was kind of disappointed the biscuits were not warmed up at all, making them taste stale. When I heated them up later, they were much more tasty. The skillet!!!! I had a bite initially and was sad because it lacked flavor. I spiced it up only to realize there was a smoky hot sauce and a crema in with the pancake fixins. Heated it up in a skillet again. After that it was INCREDIBLE. And I loved it was meatless! Highly recommend this dish. The pancakes were surprisingly delicious, as I am more of a French toast/waffles kind of person. The edges were super crispy! It came with two things of whipped butter, two things of a blueberry compote and another raspberry type of sauce, all of which were a surprise since this was my first time. Those with the syrup.... Unfortunately, while the service was genuinely good, the quality of the food versus the price was extremely disappointing. I ordered the Skirt Steak & Eggs, which was listed as Market Price. Normally I ask before ordering, but I've honestly never seen skirt steak and eggs priced this way at a breakfast spot, so I didn't think twice. That was a mistake. I ordered the steak medium, but it came out well done (overcooked), very salty, and shockingly small..., about 4 inches long, literally ¼ the size of what I've been served at countless other places. The real shock came when the bill arrived and I saw the price: $30.00. That is completely unjustifiable for the portion size and quality that was served. It didn't stop there. We also ordered the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs, which was full of gristle and basically uneatable. On top of that, the scrambled eggs had a strange plastic taste, which was extremely off-putting. Bottom line..., this place is grossly overpriced for the quality of food being served. Good service can't make up for poorly prepared, low-quality meals at premium prices. I came to Elly's Pancake House in Rosemont expecting a decent meal and left hungry, disappointed, and feeling unwelcome. From the beginning the energy was off. Instead of being greeted warmly I was sat at a booth by the open kitchen even though the restaurant was not busy. I waited nearly ten minutes before anyone brought me a glass of water, while families who walked in after me were promptly greeted, given water or coffee, and had their orders taken within minutes. When my server finally appeared he did not introduce himself or offer a greeting. His first words to me were, "Do you know what you want?" The tone was rushed and dismissive, as if I was an inconvenience. At that point I had already decided not to order. I asked for more time while quietly ordering an Uber, and for the rest of my wait he simply walked by, staring at me but never actually offering service or care. I eventually left without eating. The whole experience was careless, uncomfortable, and disrespectful. Restaurants thrive on first impressions and Elly's failed completely. The funny thing is, I was the only Black customer in the entire restaurant, surrounded by an all Hispanic staff. Meanwhile, white and Hispanic families who came in after me were greeted warmly, given drinks, and served right away. The contrast was impossible to ignore. As someone who grew up in Michigan I was not prepared to sit in a Chicago-adjacent restaurant and experience that kind of disregard from people of color, especially given the current climate and the very real challenges playing out in this state right now. That made the disappointment sting even more. I do not envision myself ever traveling back to Rosemont, but I can say without hesitation that I will never step foot in this establishment again. Walked in with no reservation. It didn't seem that busy. We got seated right away. Drinks- Water, good kind. Iced chai latte with caramel- really good I recommend. Food- French toast with side of bacon 10/10 no complaints, Banana french toast with side of extra crispy hash brown. 6/10 The french toast was okay I've had better but with the syrup and bananas it helped it out a bit. Seemed just not flavorful and a bit dry without it. The hash brown tasted like the greasy stovetop they were making it on. My family went to Elly's O'Haire on Cumberland today for our monthly brunch, and we were absolutely delighted with our experience. The restaurant is clean and bright, with attractive decor. They had set up a nice big table for the 10 of us, where we were not squeezed in. Our waiter, Ramone, was wonderful. He was friendly, accurate, and so pleasant, not an easy task with a large group like ours. The food was wonderful, fresh, arrived hot, and all together, and the fresh squeezed orange juice, and my daughter's gluten free pancakes were amazing. The prices here are quite reasonable, too. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. I especially want to praise our waiter, Ramone. He is one of the best servers I have had in recent times. Today was my worst service and I won't be back. In all fairness it wasn't terrible, just the worst since I've been coming here. So , the last time we were here, I felt sick immediately after eating. I don't know if they were understaffed but that was way too long to wait for service. For clarity, I rare even seen her walk pass the table so I can wave her down. After she finally came back she dropped off the check and asked if we wanted a box for the remaining food. I asked for another cup of coffee and more honey (instead of sugar). So, I waited to finished my coffee and still had to wait for her to come take payment. Food was fresh and delicious, I got the southwest omelette and man was it good, husband got the banana Nutella French toast and we split that as the portion is huge.
