    Chili lime tofu tacos
    John B.

This place was open only for lunch after 1 for some reason, but this worked fine with my plans. It is a small and rather spartan place which offered a Latin American menu, notably with decent vegetarian options. Their crispy chili lime tofu delivered 100% on the description, being both very battered and fried and having a strong tart flavor. It made for a great taco filling, and arrived with ample beans and rice. The rice seemed to have been sitting a while and was a bit clumped, but the beans had a nice spice mix. Given the limited alternatives, I felt I made a good choice in coming here and was well fueled for some hiking.

What a fantastic gem of a restaurant in Southwest Harbor! We were visiting this charming town and noticed Bubs when we drove through - a quick Yelp search told us we had to try this place, and we're so glad we did! Everything was fresh & expertly made, and I especially loved the chicken tortilla soup on a chilly night. The delicious burritos are XL and definitely shareable. Staff was kind and helpful, and most of the menu seemed to be gluten-free, which was welcome news for one of my friends - there was even a GF tortilla option for the burritos. Gracias, amigos!

    House salad

My wife and I ordered takeout; one chicken burrito, one house salad, and one chicken enchilada. We were amazed by the amount of food we received! We are both above average eaters in the middle of marathon training and we got three meals out of the burrito and it must have weighed 2-3lbs. The house salad was equally large. Flavors were excellent. The house salad dressing could use a bit of work, but overall it was nice to have some variety in the land of seafood and sandwiches.

Overall, it was a solid 3-star experience. We arrived and stood by the door for a few minutes before anyone acknowledged us, even though we made eye contact with the servers. That was a bit surprising given how small the indoor dining area is. Speaking of small, they don't have a restroom inside, so you have to walk around the building and go up to the second floor to use the bathroom. The menu isn't huge but covers the Mexican staples -- tacos, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas -- along with a few Latin American dishes like yuca and empanadas. The yuca nachos were honestly the highlight of the meal, really tasty. The enchiladas, though, were pretty disappointing; the chicken was super bland, and there wasn't even an option to make it spicy. The rice and beans that came with it were just okay, nothing memorable. We also got a burrito and decided to pay extra to double its size, which in hindsight wasn't necessary. The regular portion is big enough! Two people could easily share the doubled version. The pork in the burrito had way more flavor than the chicken in the enchiladas. What was strange, though, was that the burrito didn't automatically come with cheese; you had to pay extra for it. That's like ordering a lobster roll and being charged extra for mayo. The total came to $75 after tip, for one appetizer, two entrees, and a Dos XX beer ($6).

Amazing food! Great portion sizes and great taste. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. Service was good, always on point with the water refills. Owner is super nice.

Enchiladas I ate before remembering to take pic - would recommend!!!

Totally did not expect the good to be as good as it was. Everything obviously made from scratch with a ton of thought. If we lived closer would come back.

Awesome food. Empanadas were light and crispy. Got seated quickly on a Saturday night. Good selection of Mexican sodas and beer.

Very cute little spot in Maine within Acadia National Park. It's something different among the various seafood joints. We got a burrito and burrito bowl with fresh squeezed lemonade. My boyfriend's burrito was huge. My food was good right siz. But our lemonade was not sweet at all and we had to ask for some sugar. It is a bit pricey overall, but not a bad spot to go eat considering the touristy location.

Mexican Food in Maine? Absolutely!…read more We found this amazing Mexican spot right in the middle of downtown Bar Harbor, and let me tell you the location couldn't be better! Families were walking by, live music was playing across the street, and people were sitting barefoot on the grass trying to stay grounded. Meanwhile, we were being spiritually guided by the smell of Mexican food coming from Salsa Verde Grill. It pulled us in like a tractor beam! We started with the fresh guacamole, blue corn chips, and their Christmas sauce a combination of red and green sauce. Oh man Christmas came early! That sauce was so good I almost asked for it in a cup with a straw. My wife ordered the steak burrito, and it was so big she couldn't finish it. Imagine that! I ordered the enchiladas topped with a fried egg, refried beans, and rice. Oh boy, I was stuffed but somehow kept eating like I was training for the Mexican Food Olympics. Our daughter ordered the same thing as Dad, but hers was smothered in that delicious holiday sauce. She couldn't finish hers either. My wife and daughter are a couple of wimps! Or maybe I'm just a big-backed roly-poly with no quit in me. The food was flavorful, the portions were generous, and the atmosphere was perfect. We absolutely recommend Salsa Verde Grill when visiting Bar Harbor. Come hungry, wear stretchy pants, and don't blame me when that Christmas sauce has you licking the plate. Bye-bye now!

We ordered several dishes and were thoroughly impressed. We started with the tostada, which featured wonderfully smoky brisket with a richness reminiscent of pork belly. Our summer salad with whipped feta was also delicious. The "Gambas" shrimp appetizer was probably our favorite of the night, full of layered buttery, spicy flavors reminiscent of an Indian curry. We also loved the mussels appetizer, served in a briny broth simmered with smoked pork and chorizo. The seasoning and flavor profiles of every dish were surprising and exceeded our expectations. We all agreed that Havana is a must try for all foodies!

Our waiter, HarHar, paid special attention to all of the allergies at our large table, including gluten free, pineapple, almonds, etc. The space is incredibly intimate, with live music. One thing that I would have wished for was more bathrooms, since there was frequently a line for them. However, not so intimate that we were smooshed together like sardines! EVERYTHING on that menu, including the paella, was spectacular. There was not a person in my party that left hungry that night- portions were large, and the food was extraordinary. I would absolutely come here again.

However, we weren't too tired to eat it, so we had the food delivered from Side Street Cafe. So glad we did it that way cuz it was terrific... and easy to arrange ! My hubby ordered their Cubano sandwich while I ordered a cheeseburger. He loved his Cubano, which came with a side of mac 'n cheese. The mac 'n cheese was light in flavor, I think because of the kind of cheese used. I prefer more flavor, but it wasn't bad either. My( burger was quite large, and it was really tasty... very nicely seasoned beef patty, and it had all the things I like... cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle.... and catsup. I was very happy. It came with fries, but I had my fill of fries with all the lobster rolls I had ordered along the way, so I didn't eat them. Plus, there was a slice of blueberry pie calling out to me, so I wanted to blow my calories with the pie... and so glad I did cuz it was another spectacular piece of blueberry pie. Against my will, I split it with my hubby. Lol. It was a great way to end our meal. (Turns out we never got dinner that night cuz we were so full from such a nice lunch.) Side Street Cafe is definitely going on my radar if we're ever fortunate enough to return to Bar Harbor.
