The taco salad! ---He already ate a bit of it ---
    Amber B.

After being turned down by a couple of restaurants for it being late on Saturday around 9pm we saw this restaurant down the street, and can hear music playing. I wanted to say real quick because I read a review here that said "I love Hispanic food and this place is not." I totally disagree with this statement and Im from southern California where our Mexican food is amazing and always prestigious. I'm telling you, restaurant knows good Mexican food. Okay, onto the review. The chips they pass out are fresh and crispy and their salsa they give out complementary is way delicious!! My biggest regret the next day is not asking if I could buy a jar of it. For the dinner I had taco salad that had fresh tasty ingredients with this tangy mildly spicy sauce. Also I tried the burger which if I know It's not there specialty but I was so surprised on how great both the burger and fries were. The service here is also so amazing and the waitresses are sweet. Thank god for this place because we would have had no where to eat that night, since the rest of the island closes down early. Thank you!

We came in just for a drink on the 4th of July. Although it was EXTREMELY busy, the staff, including the bartenders, (especially Jordan) were SO NICE! They gave us chips and salsa and talked my friend into getting churros. It came with ice cream and chocolate sauce. She loves it!

After resting from a long trip to L.A. & back, I stopped into Margaritas & had some delicious Mexican street corn & the charred jerk wings. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everyone here is laughing, smiling & talking. Enjoying each other & their favorite meals.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you haven't been here, or haven't been in a while, I think you should come say hi to Darrah & say Diezel sent me.

Finally! Good Mexican fare has arrived in Ellsworth. At least on an early Wednesday afternoon we got there before the rush and so glad. Kitchen and Service were on point. Great Margs (got naked). All of us in our party used words like "Fabulous" and "Fantastic". Fish tacos are so worthy and nachos hit the spot. Go early and enjoy a slice of Jalisco!

    Tio's Super Burrito

1 Star seems harsh, but how bad could it be, well let me tell you. So I never go into a Mexican restaurant with high expectations any longer. Most have "Taco Bell'd" their food for people who think onion is spicy. So when the chips and salsa are brought to the table and I get some salsa, well it tastes like a Taco Bell packet. So I now know what I am about to expect out of the meal and I generally would not leave a review for this type of establishment, but it only got worse. Let me start by saying the place was packed, both the dining and bar areas were full. I ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita, which was brought to me in a pint glass. As this is a chain and the place was packed, a true Margarita glass would have been greatly appreciated, where is Jon Taffer when you need him? My daughter ordered Tacos Americanos and I ordered the Tios's Super Burrito, while we waited on our food I saw the woman at the table next to me get up to get a set of utensils for her son and a gentleman from another table getup to get some small plates. It seemed that the patrons from the restaurant were all in the service area for one thing or another for their table. What I didn't know at this time was I should have been getting my own food. My daughter's tacos arrived at the table, and then 5 minutes passed and my food has yet to arrive. I'm looking around for my server and she is nowhere to be seen. She finally comes to the table after 10 minutes to check on us, see's I don't have my food, and heads back to the kitchen. She then comes back to the table and apologizes that she had hit "exit" instead of "enter" on my food order and she asked that it be rushed. So I am still waiting and looking around the restaurant and see Freddy Kruger riding in the bus in the mural on the wall, and a Stop Domestic Violence poster on the front windows, which for me that should have been in the restroom, not front and center of the establishment. To me it is tasteless what are they saying, domestic violence is so bad in our community that they need to display it so prominently. So my daughter had stopped eating and I told her to continue, that if my food doesn't arrive by the time she is finished we would leave. So just as she takes her last bite, my steaming hot plate of food arrives. The description on the menu is, "A real gut buster" and what I got was this tiny burrito smothered in cheese, salsa, sour cream, and a disgusting attempt at guacamole. At this point I am hungry, I cut into my dinner to take a bite and burn my tongue. So I can't tell you how it tasted, because I burned my tongue but it probably wouldn't have tasted good anyway because I was already disappointed with my service. As this is a chain and available to me in New Jersey, I won't be going to this or any of their establishments ever again. The sad thing is there don't appear to be any other choices here, so this is probably good for the locals.

This place is pure garbage. Chips and salsa...chips were decent but salsa taste exactly like Tostitos, only more sour. Order the Taco Del Mar aka Baja style beer batter fish. More like frozen fish sticks that we used to have in elementary/high school. The tortilla tasted like undercooked tortilla. Package tortilla from a supermarket taste way better than this. No salsa, only some nasty tasting cream. I end up eating half of one and just threw in the towel. My bf ordered 3 enchilada combo. Same tortilla wrapped with cheese, chicken, and beef. The enchilada sauce looked and tasted straight out of a can. I can't say much about the rice & beans. Should have known when we asked what kind of aqua fresca they have. Our server didn't even know what that was. Seriously? A real Mexican restaurant would know what that is. Be forewarn....STAY AWAY from this place!!

The review is based on my experience during my Acadia trip during the Memorial Day long weekend. After watching the sunset on the Cadillac mountain, it was quite late.. we were near bar harbor by 8:45 pm and we realized that we have no chance to find a good restaurant there because it was so crowded. I yelped around a bit and found this Margaritas 20min away. I called up to check if they were accepting more people and luckily they had an availability in the bar area. Upon reaching the restaurant, Melissa took the order. She asked good questions, checked if we forgot to order something. When I asked for hot sauce, she mentioned that she has 2 options with different spice levels. She brought both and warned me before trying one of those because it was too hot. I thought that she really loved her job! It was closing time and still she cared for her customers till the last minute. I am not sure about the other staff but I am extremely impressed by her approach towards her work. The food was good. 5 stars for this location!

My cocktail (I forget the name, but something with pineapple rum) was very good too. Our entrees were good as well. The chicken with a truffle cream sauce was very well done. I had the rigatoni with short rib, and enjoyed it, although I'll try something else next time. The chocolate torte for dessert was small, but very, very good. Service was friendly, helpful, and efficient. Ambiance is not fancy, but modern and comfortable. I appreciated the lounge / house music in the background... audible enough to set the vibe, but very easy to have a conversation over. The need to give credit card information to make a reservation had dissuaded me from trying Provender in the past, but now I'm kicking myself for not coming sooner. If it was served with crusty bread instead of a thick slice of toasted bread, it would have been perfect. The nachos were unique and delicious with generous toppings and ahi tuna... also could have been a meal by itself... chef's kiss to those two items! Our entrees were a dish called Gnudi- which if you don't know what they are(we didn't and when we looked it up, it said it is similar to gnocchi- IT ISN'T!!!) ask before you order, if you've never had it, it's very unique and we didn't care for it at all... there was no recourse given by the restaurant... make sure you know what it is!! Our other entree was rigatoni that was topped with ricotta and short rib sauce, shredded cheese... it was tasty, but very pricey for a bowl of pasta... To make a reservation, you need to give a credit card and if you don't show up, your card is charged $25 per person. The service was friendly until we didn't like the Gnudi... then it was a little weird... It was fine, but not exceptional... Cold bottles of water are given to the table and refreshed as necessary. The restroom is not kept up, could use shine attention, a little elbow grease to clean it. They are on Facebook and offer specials on their burgers.

Mexican Food in Maine? Absolutely!…read more We found this amazing Mexican spot right in the middle of downtown Bar Harbor, and let me tell you the location couldn't be better! Families were walking by, live music was playing across the street, and people were sitting barefoot on the grass trying to stay grounded. Meanwhile, we were being spiritually guided by the smell of Mexican food coming from Salsa Verde Grill. It pulled us in like a tractor beam! We started with the fresh guacamole, blue corn chips, and their Christmas sauce a combination of red and green sauce. Oh man Christmas came early! That sauce was so good I almost asked for it in a cup with a straw. My wife ordered the steak burrito, and it was so big she couldn't finish it. Imagine that! I ordered the enchiladas topped with a fried egg, refried beans, and rice. Oh boy, I was stuffed but somehow kept eating like I was training for the Mexican Food Olympics. Our daughter ordered the same thing as Dad, but hers was smothered in that delicious holiday sauce. She couldn't finish hers either. My wife and daughter are a couple of wimps! Or maybe I'm just a big-backed roly-poly with no quit in me. The food was flavorful, the portions were generous, and the atmosphere was perfect. We absolutely recommend Salsa Verde Grill when visiting Bar Harbor. Come hungry, wear stretchy pants, and don't blame me when that Christmas sauce has you licking the plate. Bye-bye now!

You can NEVER speak to a person! THAT ALONE IS A MASSIVE RED FLAG, BUT IT GETS SO MUCH WORSE. When you are forced to WALK OUT of a restaurant with starving kids because the garbage they put on your table is completely INEDIBLE, that tells you everything you need to know. Our family travels constantly, we love great food, and we have had a fantastic time in Bar Harbor--until this total disaster. My daughter ordered a simple chicken taco and they handed her dry, rock-hard poultry crammed into a stale, salt-bomb hard shell with ZERO toppings, zero salsa, zero dressing, and ZERO EFFORT. My other daughter's quesadilla was packed with so much cheap, rubbery cheese that she LITERALLY CHOKED ON IT. And to top off that insult, they served her RANCH DRESSING and tried to claim it was sour cream! As for my enchiladas? A COMPLETELY LAUGHABLE DISGRACE TO MEXICAN CUISINE. A soggy, slimy, undercooked DISASTER. AND THEN CAME THE OWNER. This arrogant joke of a manager explicitly ADMITTED: "Yeah, those enchiladas could have gone in for longer!" YET HE STILL REFUSED TO COMP A SINGLE CENT. He didn't offer to remake the food, didn't offer a refund, and didn't even have the basic decency to offer chips and guac to-go for our hungry kids! When my husband confronted him--"You do see the way you are treating customers, right? You didn't offer me anything for this horrible experience"--this guy ACTUALLY LAUGHED IN OUR FACES AND SAID, "I DON'T OWE YOU ANYTHING." UNBELIEVABLE. DISGUSTING. Our family ALWAYS treats the food and beverage industry with the grace and respect it deserves. We NEVER return food, we NEVER complain, and we NEVER disrespect servers. In all our travels, we have NEVER encountered an owner who wouldn't bend over backward if a guest was unhappy. But this place? A total scam run by a smug, toxic narcissist. DO NOT WASTE A SINGLE PENNY HERE. THEY NEED NEW OWNERSHIP IMMEDIATELY!

It did fill up by the time I left (around 12:30). Was seated promptly in a booth, menu with silverware was provided. Menu is huge, took me a while to find the page with lunch specials. (Might have been nice to point it out.) I ordered the chicken burrito lunch special. Chips and salsa came quickly as did a soda. When lunch came, it was just placed and the waiter came and asked "how it was." My response was I haven't tried it yet. The enchilada was mostly rice, with some chicken, and the cheese sauce on the top was COLD. Pretty much the worst enchilada I remember. I ate 1/2 and waited for the waiter to come so I could get a check. English was a struggle for my waiter. I asked for $1 back from my $20 to cover lunch and tip. Said it a couple times, and he eventually just brought me full change to let me leave a tip. Normally, I would have just rounded up and left the $20, but it was just so bad I couldn't. There were many in the restaurant when I left so I'm going to hope I just picked the wrong item. Maybe I'll try again on a Tuesday night.

Our server was helpful and friendly. We started with the standard chips and salsa. I liked it fine, but the salsa was too spicy for my wife. The server offered some enchilada brown sauce for her instead. It was a nice thought, but my wife disliked the taste and, I must agree, when I sampled it I felt it tasted unsuitable, at least for that purpose. It was Margarita Monday and I would have liked to indulge, but I was driving so I demurred. We both ordered taco salads for our meal. Taco salad is also a Monday special, priced a dollar less than the regular dinner version. Just out of curiosity, after my wife ordered the lunch special with guacamole, I ordered the regular dinner version. Our salads looked about the same, except hers had more ground beef for whatever reason. So my experiment was inconclusive. The taco salad was pretty good, and we brought some home with us for later, so it was a good value these days at around $10 each. Ordinarily I would finish by saying we'll be going back again, but the spicy salsa is probably a deal breaker for my wife, unless we bring our own mild salsa!
