DC sucks and Zero not the same but 100% better than DC Fries are only worth it if you are the less than 1% who likes battered and season salted fries. The burger meat is very excellent and fresh here. In my opinion this burger meat has to be the best in Houston. The bun was soft and airy and the cheeseburger was so well constructed. I'd definitely return as my go to burger place. The chili cheese fries were not so great! I wonder if it is because I took this to go and they didn't want it soggy so placed the chili and cheese in different containers. Still, the ratios were off, way too much chili for the tiny amount of cheese. The chili itself had a sweetness to it that felt like it had an extra seasoning that overpowered it. It might taste different dining in and they may even portion the cheese and chili out correctly, but 1 star for the chili and cheese fries. So if you are like me, which hopefully you are not, you pass right by this place and never bother to stop. But today happened and my husband had wanted a burger so I looked online and we stopped. Now the burgers. It was a good burger (beef) husband loved the bison. You can choose from either bison or beef for any of there burgers so I thought that was super cool. But the Smokey jalapeños were what made this burger outstanding. What an amazing idea instead of just your regular pickled jalapeños. They are sweet Smoky and spicy and oh so perfect. I got a bison mushroom burger and it was solid. Not the ground breaking mouth watering goodness I was expecting but was definitely good. It was rather surprising that they don't have any fries on their menu but I did go ahead and try the jalapeno potato salad. It has a cool little kick to it. It was more of a quick pickup here so I don't have the most to say about here but it was cool. The place had a very rustic feel whether it's the tucked off location or the decor or the fact that it's a SHACK. Had a nice feel and the lady I spoke with for ordering was nice so I'd be willing to try them again. Well it's definitely nothing to look at. Run down looking shack under 59, really close to the Galleria mall if that somehow fits into your plans. Parking is pretty limited - you park directly in front of the shack and there are only a few spaces. After parking you walk up to an elevated patio with a few tables. Directly ahead is the entrance to the shack itself where you order. To the left is a ground-level patio area complete with lovely string lights. A beautiful place if you can find a place to park; watch out for the mosquitoes! Diced white onions, deliciously melted ample cheese, and decent savory patty. Bun is pretty standard and nothing to write home about. all in all for the price it's a pretty decent burger. read more

Classic burger but for the price, you definitely could get something worth more bang for the buck. Burger 6.5/ 10 bacon, cheese, grilled jalapeños, grilled onion, Mayo. Bun was cold, dry and chewy. You can tell it's a low quality bun. The bun is one of the most overlooked ingredient of a burger and they failed with a cold, dense breaded bun. I think some butter to it could've made it better Meat - decent taste but texture was EEEHhh.... On same level as burger joint with the middle school quality lunch meat texture. Imagine a McRib texture Fries - been here years ago and seen fries and onion rings was added. Located under the Westpark Tollway (any business that they build the highway AROUND has to be good), Bubba's is a hole-in-the-wall burger joint, an actual shack. The front door isn't obvious (it's all the way to the right), but once you go in, the "shack" feel doesn't dissipate - it's a shack in and out. Being a shack doesn't mean they can't cook, they can. I ordered a bison cheeseburger and fries, my wife ordered a beef burger and onion rings. Based on the ambience, I'd expect the world's best burger. It is above average, but not the best. Their meat Patties are what I call "frisbees" - smashed round in a mold, then frozen, and finally unpacked and flung onto a flattop like a frisbee. Since the meat is covered in frost, it steams more than it grills, so the cooked patty isn't really browned properly. On the positive side, they have a proprietary spice rub sprinkled on the meat as it cooks and the fries and onion rings AFTER they're cooked that is quite good and what elevates my rating from a 3 to 4. Overall, it's worth an occasional trip. Nice people, Pretty good burgers in a unique location. Burger Bodega or the original Lankford's Grocery on Dennis Street are good alternatives. read more

I've been a loyal customer for over a decade and will keep coming back as long as they're around. If you've never had a buffalo burger, you need to try one here. Not a bad place for burgers to be on the side of the road. It's cute and friendly workers there. Got stickers inside the restaurant seating area inside and outside. Owner or manager was very friendly and so was the staff. The burgers was just regular size. Mushroom burger ($8.50) was delicious. So was the cheeseburger ($6.75) we ordered with everything. Burgers or price he doesn't come with fries or any other side. Nothing special about this place they did have Hello buffalo meat but we didn't get that since were just testing it. Bubba's is a true Houston classic that's been around for many many years. I've been coming here since I was young and the informal vibe, delicious meat, and very competitive price has kept me coming back year after year. They also offer bison meat in their burgers, which I feel is a healthier alternative to beef and, in my opinion, has a gamier, richer taste. Service is usually pretty fast, and they're able to accommodate even when things get a little bit crowded. Other than that, there's just not much else to say! The burgers were good. The hot dogs were good. The chili was just so so- a bit too much chili seasoning to the point it was obnoxiously spicy. The bison burgers were really hyped up and while they were good, certainly not to the level of the hype. Would I go back? Yes. Would it be a priority, not really. There is no indoors seating so if it is hot, it's hot! And while they do have fans, it is open air and the fans can only do so much. Bubba's Texas Burger Shack is literally that, a shack, by the highway. You might very well drive right by it, if you're not looking for it specifically. We tried three of their specialty burgers, the Border, Houston and Mushroom Jack burgers, all Bison, in addition to a nice helping of chili cheese fries. The Border burger was decent but nothing to write home about. The Mushroom Jack was a few steps up from the Border but the true stars of the afternoon were definitely the Houston burger, with its tasty spicy jalapeño bbq sauce and the amazing chili cheese fries. Service was quick for so many items, so can't complain there. They also have a variety of adult beverages available for purchase if you prefer a beer with your burger. That they offer all their selections in ground buffalo as an option, well, in my book that should earn a sixth star. I have eaten here at least four times. I can personally vouch for the buffalo hot dog with chili & cheese as well as the Vegas burger. When a burger joint can get that fried egg perfectly oozy, well, that is some kind of special. There are tables inside (about five) and outside. The outside seating is somewhat picnic-style, so make a friend! Drinks come from the cooler. They offer a few adult selections as well. There is a good selection of burger option/recipes. Let's talk about the burger itself - i do think the bison comes from a frozen patty. I could be wrong, but it did look that way on this last visit. Even so, it was perfectly cooked with just a hint of pink. The bacon was crispy, the egg perfectly over-medium, the lettuce & tomatoes fresh and crisp. The staff is very friendly, calling regulars by name. I have not quite figured out how they get five folks in that little kitchen & have ay room to move, but they are very efficient. From where we sat, I had a great view of the kitchen. It is one of the cleanest kitchens I have ever seen. The next time you're in the Galleria are, make a point to seek out this "joint" and your mouth & tummy will thank you. This is as good as it gets. read more

I've had burgers all over the United States and outside of the United States and nothing and I mean absolutely nothing can compare to the buffalo burgers here at bubbas under the beltway. I've been coming here for over ten years and will forever come here as long as they are around. They are the best! If you have never had a buffalo burger come here and try it. My god. So good! Food: double bison bacon burger is 15.00 but so worth it. Packed with protein and flavor! Tastes so good my god. This has been my go to burger here for levee 10 years. Such a great burger. Literally the best in Houston. I believe they are still family owned. Back in the day when I first started coming there were two older nice gentlemen that ran the spot. One wore and old train engineer hat. The other looked like Dave Adams from Wendy's. Hope they are still alive. I think their kids or grandkids run it now. I'm updating my review because the last time I went there this burger was just amazing! For those that didn't read my last review I tried the "famous" buffalo burger. It was okay but not the burger I was looking for. So this time around I ordered the mushroom swiss burger with beef patty on a white bun. I really wanted to taste the meat and the other ingredients so I chose not to have any veggies. So it was mushrooms , cheese , onions and I believe mayo. By accident I left the pickles on the bottom of my burger. First of all, wow the meat flavor was great. It was not heavily seasoned but just enough. Perfect medium cooked so it was juicy. The mushrooms were sautéed and the cheese was not excessive. I was really blown away to be honest. He bread to patty patio was not bad but a little more bread than meat. With that said, I was full after the burger , chips and my soft drink. I was not crazy full though. There is out door seating and indoor. Definitely family owned and I love the location.
