Great food but the kids working up there always get the order wrong. They always forget something. Example, they give chili and forget the cheese. Food is not very consistent. The chili can be too spicy or too watery. Same goes for the potato salad. Either way too spicy or not enough. We love the food but always, they mess up .

Right under the highway

I've been to this location many times, but it's been years since I'd been back. If you're ever in the mood for a dive/ice house burger vibe, look no further The locations is rather peculiar as it is located directly under the highway at west park and 69. Ethereally something about it being the only thing tucked under the highway there that makes it sort of inviting and quaint The exterior is particularly inviting as it's rustic, has an order window, various patio seating, and it just looks like a good time You will order inside. Then menu is on the wall. They have a list of delicious signature burgers, but they also have classics and BYO options. They use both beef and bison for burger options. Order a side of fries or a bag of chips. They also have alcoholic and non alcoholic drink options The staff were great. Very personable, helpful, and made great small talk. The order was prepared quickly, and they passed it to me with a smile through the order window outside These burgers are tasty. They're big, they're messy, but they're very flavorful. I took mine togo, but feel free to dine on one of their shaded patios Some tips: Their credit card reader was temporarily out of order, so, they had to manually input the credit card numbers. If you're not comfortable with that, bring cash. There is a parking lot, but it can get slightly bumpy and wet as it's a gravel lot Cheers!!

Fantastic Bison-Dog togo !!!

I ordered my # 1 favorite here togo being the Bison Hotdog with nothing on it. I don't like relish at all, don't like ketchup and only like a pinch of mustard. A good hotdog needs none of these, but that's each person's call. The bun was thick, soft and fresh. The bison dog itself was very delicious, hearty, savory and definitely not gamy or so so small you could miss it. It was crunchy, tender, soft in the middle and yet higher in volume in the middle too. It was obviously not as fatty as a beef one, but still just as awesome. If we're talking about TX only hotdog places, this one is in my top 2 for sure.

Ambiance under the overpass kinda feel, but looks like home. Great burgers, great staff, and consistently excellent yum. Sure it's a popular place, but don't drive past it. Make sure you get some to go. Buffalo burgers are epic. Vegas beef burgers with avocado and a fried egg are nice option too.

Ordered lunch from here yesterday. We had no idea it was a little roadside shack. They did not disappoint!! It was so cold but it was worth getting out the car. When you go inside the music catches your attention. The staff was enjoying themselves while cooking and preparing the food. It was truly made with love. I will go back in the near future but beware you will get sleepy after eating . Tip: they get busy around lunch so call before you head that way; especially if you have a limited break time If you get chili cheese fries be careful because the containers were topped with foil and it spilled over cutting through the bad etc on our less than 10 min drive back

The food was pretty great here. And the price was amazing. I highly recommend if you are in the area. The ambiance was also pretty cool and we had dinner on their outside patio. The service was also great and the food came out super quick. Great spot all around.

Bison Burgers with extra cheese avocado , French Fries Onion Rings,

Super Friendly service. Food is soo worth the price fills you up. Not to mention the Bison burgers have a super rich flavor and juicy bread is even nice and fluffy. Absolutely must stop by!

Consistently well made bison bbq burgers. Been coming here for 10 years and it never disappoints. Make it a stop to eat at this quirky place underneath the freeway in Houston. Long wooden benches and tvs with sports and a double wide trailer for the restaurants. Cashier was very friendly. Ambiance is very casual. Perfect for solo or just friends. NOT a date spot. Come for the food and unique location

Solid spot. Decent burgers, good fries. Want to try the potato salad next time! Order at a window and wait for order to get called out, seat yourself. Very no frills, self service. It is also pretty much a shack under a bridge. Hidden gem vibes

Had high expectations from a food bloggers recommendation but ultimately was disappointed. We went with a large group (7) and go inconsistent answers/recommendation from the same employee for the same questions. There were also a few errors in our orders (I.e cheese not changed as requested, patty forgotten for a burger etc.) Had the Bison Patty Melt on rye as recommended by other Yelpers and was ultimately disappointed. Not a lot of flavour or sustenance and I left hungry. My partner had the Vegas burger and we were more impressed by the flavour and ingredients on that burger. The fries were well seasoned and yummy. Ultimately just a little disappointed and won't be returning there are other better burger places in Houston.

With all the hype this spot gets, I guess we just expected more? Got a double stack with bacon and fries and it was just ok. The burger search continues..

Trays of food!

My company was hosting a belated Memorial Day luncheon in the office and what's more American than Burgers! Luckily Bubba's is right down the street from our office! We had Bubba's Cater our lunch last year and the food was great so we figured let's do it again this year! I called the restaurant to get a quote for 65 burgers and the host who picked up asked to put me on hold because she needed to talk to the GM. The GM Leo picked up the phone and took my order for 65 burgers (cheese burgers and regular burgers) with an additional 10 plain beef patties on the side. They did it catering style so we could "build your own burger" at the office. On the day of- I had to add a bean burger and a salad because I found out there were 2 individuals who were vegan & vegetarian and Leo was super accommodating to add those orders last minute. The only downer was that the salad dressing did not make it with the salad so the individual who got the salad did not have any dressing with their salad. When we came to pick up the food at 11:20AM, (arrived 10 minutes early) the kitchen was still prepping the food. We waited in my car until 11:35AM when they came out with all the trays of food and condiments. I waited another 5-10 minutes for the buns to be done toasting and brought out to my car and everything was set. Overall the food was delicious and even though we missed the salad dressing, everyone still enjoyed everything! one thing I would change is probably asking for the cheese to be left on the side because everyone loved the patties that had the cheese on it already. We were left with all the patties that didn't have cheese on it so next time, definitely asking for the cheese to be on the side so others can add cheese if they wanted to.

A simple burger is all you need. Who cares about all the other stuff? I ordered a patty melt. It was a decent size. Order it on rye for sure. So tasty. We liked it the best of the three we ordered. The onion rings were whole ones. Perfect crisp. The fries with the chili cheese was great. Loveddd the kick of the chili. I want to go back for the Frito pie now. Overall the service was decent. They have a pick up window outside. Decent wait time. The space overall wasn't anything to write home about. I'm sure not in the Texas summer would likely work better. No a/c. But fans.

The Bison burger was good. They need indoor seating to get out of the weather. Parking limited.

Bubba's Texas Burger Shack Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Bubba's Texas Burger Shack

How large are the burger Patties?

1/4 lb, maybe. Larger than fast food drive-through. Very flavorful.

How's the Bubbas Habernero sauce?

A little disappointing, tasted more like Louisiana hot sauce then habanero. Not spicy at all and tastes more vinegary.

Does this place have good fries?

No fries here. They sell chips

Does this establishment have indoor seating?

Yes a few tables. A four seater and a two seater! Great burgers! Make sure you try it!

Which beers and wines do you serve?

Good Afternoon David. We don't serve wine, but we do have a large selection of bottled and canned beers.… Read more

I had opted for a beef burger with a side of chili cheese tater tots to share. The burger is quite large and filled generously with whatever add-ins you check off so it was very filling for me. I went with two 2oz patties, but considering the size, I'd opt for a single 2 oz patty if I go back. For my burger I also added scallion aioli which didn't have a strong green onion flavor but was still nice and added creaminess to the burger overall. The tater tots were super crispy, and the chili cheese topping was nice. I had gone shortly after they opened and it wasn't super busy but it started to quickly fill up around 11:30-12. Decent amount of tables and good parking situation outside

I was extremely excited to give this place a shot and, after failing to try it about a month ago…read moredue to them being out of falafel patties, I finally got to try it this past weekend and honestly I was very much underwhelmed (I even called before going to make sure they hadn't run out of falafel patties this time). To start off with a positive, I thought the falafel patty had a really great taste and was absolutely the highlight of the burger. But outside of that the burger and the toppings I ordered just didn't work as well as I would've liked. I ordered my burger with mushrooms and sauteed onions, both toppings I know I absolutely love from making burgers at home and from other spots, but neither added much. At first I was worried that the falafel was overpowering them both but upon eating them by themselves they just lacked taste. We also got the scallion aioli on the burger and I never got a hint of it at any point. All in all, the burger was very much mediocre outside of the patty. We also got fries with the burger and while they absolutely had some potential they were extremely over seasoned. Any appreciation for the seasonings in a vacuum was immediately overshadowed by how salty they were. We also ordered the Sambal Mayo as a dipping sauce and while it did help subdue the insane salt level and overall tasted quite good, upon writing this review I found out by looking at their online menu that it contained some amount of shrimp. This information is nowhere to be seen on the ordering slip and wasn't mentioned when I handed it over to the person working at the cash register. And while I definitely accept some level of responsibility for not doing my due diligence and asking or letting them know of my dietary restrictions, it's still an extremely frustrating thing to have happen as both a vegetarian and someone with a mild shellfish allergy. If for whatever reason the online menu is out of date or I missed an obvious indication of it containing shrimp somewhere I am more than happy to edit my review.

I went with the Double Good Burger at Johnny Good Burger, and honestly... it was surprisingly good. Perfectly smashed patties with those crispy edges, juicy inside, and well-balanced flavors that didn't feel overcomplicated. Sometimes simple just works--and this definitely did. The fries deserve their own shoutout: extra crispy, hot, and downright addictive. No soggy sadness here. I kept telling myself "just one more" until the tray was mysteriously empty. All in all, a very satisfying burger experience. If you're in the mood for a legit smash burger and happen to be wandering POST Houston, this one's absolutely worth stopping for.

There were no other customers at the time, but that's to be expected for a slow Monday. The menu is quite simple with just 4 different entrees, 3 different ways to order fries, and a few soft drink options in a cold case. Everything here is a la carte but there is a combo option where you can save about $3 off the regular menu pricing. I chose the "Double Good" and added a patty for $3 more figuring the patties are most likely very thin. The burger comes with lettuce, onion tomato, pickles and special sauce. I subbed the American for Swiss, but the Swiss ended up being a Swiss-American blend, so it tasted mostly like American cheese which I hate. I keep having bad luck with Swiss lately. The patty is about 1/4 lb and tastes similar to a home cooked burger. I ended up setting the burger down and just eating the patty with a fork since I didn't like the taste of the cheese, sauce, or the entire burger as a whole after a handful of bites. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried it but this is not a burger I would come back for, especially at this price point.

A standard smashed Double cheeseburger and generous extra crispy impressively seasoned waffle fries as you want it cost $16 which is fair since adding the fries vs standalone burger is only $1 price differential. Clutch City Grill sits next to Burger Chan (the most recent title holder of best burger for my son) but this Sunday, they were not open so we tried the one we didn't try last time--CCG. And let me just say that this place tucked away inside a collective indoor food concession aka The Conservatory Galleria, has every right to boldly don the clutch city burger title. Inside this perfectly grilled almost Hawaiian role type hint of sweet homemade bun is a masterclass of burger perfection, made right in front of you and to your liking based on your selections from the order tap screens. While, waiting, I looked at everything I didn't order as it was being served and I'm almost certain that anything you order at CCG is delicious. Presentation is superb because others were sitting with large selections in front of them that caused me a bit of buyers remorse--I couldn't decide. The vibe is chill enough to talk to the grill master while my son was figuring out his massive burger order--he randomly had a hash brown added to a patty melt. And ordered something to take home or in case one order wasn't enough for the teen appetite. But the food is massive. I cannot stress that enough. Portions of everything there are beyond generous from what we saw and this is the kind of place where there's delivery guys picking up, people working on their laptops and the average joe grabbing takeout after work as well as families having dinner but not crowded. We sat and reflected on a great shopping day in a chill environment and reminisced on the old days of Galleria area last minute back to school night before/we should do this more type of memories in the making. The take something to go plus my own leftover (cutting the burger in half is an open from the order touch screen) and it passed the ultimate test of being really good cold the next day. This place begs the question--where is everybody? I can't be the only one who knows about it. But also was inviting enough to silently confirm that I think we've found our place. One that even has a cool bathroom with a mirror that says "you look amazing." Exactly how you're going to feel about the food that looks even better than it does in its promo photos
