My husband, oldest son and I decided to stop by Bubble Island after lunch. We walked in and were greeted by a friendly man that took our order. It was very fast. This place is bright and basic with minimal decor. After waiting a few minutes our order was ready. It was quick. My husband ordered the iced vanilla latte with bubbles and 50 percent sugar. My son ordered the iced vanilla latte as it comes. I tried both drinks. What I liked about my husband's latte is that it wasn't as sweet as my son's because it had less sugar and more coffee flavor. What I liked about my son's latte was that his didn't have any jellies in it. The jellies in my husband's drink blocked the straw passage so I had to drink the jelly before getting some coffee. Overall it was a nice place to stop by and grab some coffee. The service was friendly and quick and the coffee was good. read more

I've been coming to this spot since I was in middle school. The drinks have never tasted bad, nor the food. I enjoy the simplicity of their food option, as it pairs nicely with the drinks! I have tried almost every flavor they have, but my go-to is the Lychee Smoothie with Lychee jelly and Tapioca or the Lychee Jasmine Green Tea with Lychee jelly and Tapioca. The avocado smoothies are also really tasty! I'm a die-hard fan of the milk teas and smoothies though. The service is always top-notch. The owners are kind and they've been part of our community for a long time! Some students grew up with them lol. They recognized me and that surprised me, but it shows that they care about their service and customers. The interior design has gone through changes, but the place has always held a pristine and neat look. The service is really good and it feels like home every visit. PLUS! I went to eat around this area and saw this place, decided to give it a try and it was not that bad. I ordered brown sugar with boba and the Oreo ice cream milk shake with boba as well. At first sips (after mixing and shaking the drink), the brown sugar was bland since I only tasted fresh milk, but then it got better when the brown sugar syrup mixed with the drink (after like 15min though). It was definitely less sweet than most of the other brown sugar drinks at other shops. The Oreo ice cream milk shake was very very good. It tasted exactly like cookies n cream ice cream but as a drink (like frappe ish). The shop looks like a family-owned shop, and the service was super duper nice. BOBA: The only thing I didn't like was the boba. It was very bland and had no sweetness. There are other boba shops that also have bland boba, but for some reasons this one tasted very eh (like i would avoid the boba when i drink it). I can't believe i lived in this area for a year and half and never stopped here until today! I absolutely love this place. It's clean the staff is friendly and the drinks are delicious and the price is great. You definitely can't go wrong. I got a large taro boba tea with green tea and it's delicious. I come by to get a bubble tea once or twice a week. The people who run the store are very nice. I believe they are the owners. I'm new to bubble tea so just getting the hang of it. Seems like there's plenty of options to choose from. I never have to wait long for my drink, and it's always tasty! I usually don't stay long, but there's usually a few people there playing games or reading. It's a pretty quiet place to hang out if you wanted to do a little reading or studying. The chairs are metal but not uncomfortable. They could probably add a couple of couches and a coffee table to give it more of the coffee house vibe. I usually go for their thai tea with boba and it's delicious. Their chocolate shake with boba and honey green milk tea is good too. Also, I'm very particular when it comes to the texture of by boba. I don't want it to squishy or to hard, and Bubble Island has just the right balance. I love Bubble Island! I've never written a review before (so bear with me), but I wanted to because this place is really special. I've been going to Bubble Island for years and have tried many different menu items. I especially love the flavor green/black teas, the Thai tea, and the slushies. My family is hooked, too! In addition to my favorites, they recommend the honey jasmine green tea, the taro tea, and the Vietnamese coffee. We also think the veggie dumplings and snacks are yummy. I have tried a lot of boba places, and this will always be my favorite. The staff is WONDERFUL; they are so kind and always make me, my family, and my friends feel at home. In my experience, they have also been really accommodating of food allergies and work to reduce cross contamination, which is something I really appreciate. They also care about making the store a great place to hang out. It's bright, clean, and has a warm & inviting atmosphere. I've tried the honeydew slushes and they were really yummy too. I would expect any choice would be a good choice here. There are plenty of other bubble tea places, but this one seems to do just fine for what it offers. Variety is pretty decent here, they have variations of drinks that aren't limited to simply boba, but shakes and smoothies as well. The sitting area is great for the casual afternoon drink and mini conversation, almost lounge like. Its not a large place however, so a large group of 6 or more wouldn't be recommended when the place is busy during lunch hours or the early evening. I've been coming to bubble island for about 15 years back when I went to high school near here, didn't realize I hadn't left a review yet! It's been a clear lake staple for bubble tea, and I've gotten many different things off the menu, but my latest favorite is the taro shake with tapioca. It's so creamy and satisfying, I could drink it any time of day. It had a sweet finish but doesn't leave you feeling dehydrated from the sweetness as American milkshakes can do. Bubble island has a bunch of board games available for patrons, and I can safely say they did it "before it was cool", considering how I see board games at many new places. They are never pushy on forcing you to order if only some of your group like their product, which made me always like it as a hangout spot. Bubble tea is a rarity in the CL area...so we decided to try this place out. First impressions are the lasting ones, and unfortunately, this bubble tea cafe is worn out, dirty, and tired. The ikea furniture was filthy and had poor-fitting slip covers. the seating was cramped and awkward. but even worse, the bathroom was an absolute atrocity. There is a urinal in the unisex bathroom (GROSS), and i swear that bathroom had not been cleaned for months if not years. avoid at all costs. as for the tea, it was pretty ok. i got classic black milk tea w/ almond jelly and pearls. the pearls were too chewy, and i think they might have been left out too long. and a very minor plus, they give you 10% off with a uhcl ID if you pay cash. if you have a bubble tea emergency, this place will do--but make the order to-go. read more

My boyfriend and I go here more than two times a week, sometimes more. I guess you could say we are regulars. If you go here often make sure to ask for a stamp card, every time you buy 10 drinks you get one free! I personally don't like tapioca but I love the popping boba and jelly options, among my favorites, are the coconut jelly, Lychee jelly, lychee popping boba, and the aloe Vera jelly. If you are a coffee nut like my boyfriend make sure to try their Siberian café java blended drink, it's his favorite. I am a huge fan of Boba or tapioca tea. I have heard it called bubble tea so I knew that Bubble Island would be a place where I could get my cravings fulfilled. They are located in a strip mall next to a Vietnamese restaurant and a Mediterranean restaurant. They are a small shop and I think that throws off some people who have written reviews on yelp. I have been to Boba places that charge you ridiculous prices for a small slush with very little tapioca and I have usually been convinced it is so they can afford their fancy bar style restaurants with hipster furniture. This is not the case here. The drinks are reasonably priced and the shop is not overly fancy. They have a nice seating area and small couch corner for people who just want to hang out. I have been here twice and each time the service has been pleasant. I am a huge fan if Lychee. My dad used to bring home Lychee from Costco when I was a kid and I liked them a lot. I think they taste a little bit like grapes except you have to peel them and there is a huge seed in the middle. Anyway the flavor here is great and tastes just like a Lychee. The first time I went here I got the Lychee slushy with tapioca and they gave me a generous portion of both. I was happy with my selection. The second time I decided to try the flavored bubbles so I got a Lychee slushy with strawberry bubbles. The strawberry bubbles are a little bit too sweet for what I wanted but were not bad. Next time I will stick with the regular tapioca because I like them better than the bubbles. I wanted to try the milk teas but they told me the only non-dairy milk they have is powdered. I was hoping for soy, almond, or coconut milk because I am lactose intolerant. They also have coffee and I would definitely like to try that. As far as food goes I have tried their vegetable steamed dumplings and they were just ok. However for a quick snack they weren't bad but I wouldn't go there just for the dumplings. I also have tried their crispy toast. They take a piece of bread that is sliced like Texas Toast and cover it in whatever flavored butter you asked for and they toast it. I got the coconut butter and they even put coconut shavings on top of the toast. It was sweet and delicious. It was a good sweet snack (I'm sure it is also horrible nutritionally). 3.5 stars. This place used to be the cool spot for the cool kids back when I first moved here years ago. Then, the owner sold the place and the new owners didn't quite live up to the old Bubble Island reputation. The drinks are decent and cheap, although the place itself needs some life. The board games are not organized on the shelf. There's shelves with board games with missing pieces and magazines. There's a TV that's always off. And the music only plays every once in a while. They always close at 8 pm too, so if you want to hang out after a late dinner this place wouldn't be it. Overall, cheap and decent drinks but the hours could be better. read more

Just waited 17 minutes for an iced coffee and I'm not sure why. Oh, because I had already paid and probably would have taken longer to get a refund. Normal couple that runs this shop works hard at keeping things moving. Difficult for 2 persons to keep up with large orders. Tonight the normal people weren't there. Both employees were working to complete open orders(I get that). After a brief wait(2-3 minutes) the lady in front of me orders 4 drinks and then I order 1. She gets hers and the lady behind me gets hers and when the lady at the register sees me still standing there she completed my order. Not sure why the other worker didn't. 15 minutes later I finally get my drink. I like local businesses and supporting small businesses but you're going to have to do better or I won't be back. We normally stop here 1-2 times a week but I will take a break and maybe give them another chance later. read more
