I felt pressured to submit to societal norms that are present in the U.S. and use toilet paper. The eyes of my ancestors were weighing down on me as I was on the verge of going against all of my hygiene principles that my elders have passed on to me. Including a LOTA would accomplish multiple things. It would allow the customers to think in a divergent fashion when it comes to cleaning themselves after they release their bowels. Additionally, it would demonstrate that Bubble Tea Lab is cognizant about the large Muslim-population in the greater Gurnee and Libertyville area and that the shop is willing to take additional measures for their convenience as a large part of their business stems from Muslims in the surrounding area. My partner and daughter wanted boba tea and since I'm happy to oblige I found this place. Business hours say they close at 10pm but there was a line so they stayed opened. I read the reviews and here's my take: we got regular sized bobas, one classic, one matcha green tea, and a mango. We could substitute soy milk for dairy and the clerk let me customize the amount of sugar. It was delicious, all three of them. The clerk was friendly and didn't make me feel bad for asking all the (probably) dumb questions I was asking about the sugar content and the kinds of boba (they have a little display case out on front). Wish I had read the reviews before I went. Walked in to a completely empty and completely silent store around lunchtime on a warm weekend day. No music, no greeting from the staff members working... When we ordered, the cashier instantly told us they were out of tapioca boba. An hour after opening. On a Saturday. When there's no one else there. What? I asked what the cashier recommended instead of tapioca boba and he just stared at me in silence and offered no help whatsoever. I'd have appreciated it if he said it was a day old, I would have gotten jelly. The boba had already lost its chewiness. This place is on par with the suburban milk tea places. You can get so much better tea in the city for the price they charge. My total came out to be a little over $6.50 for a large milk tea with boba after taxes. I visited closer to closing time and was helped out by a lovely lady who was actually about to close the store when we arrived, but gladly offered us service. The drinks we bought were delicious. My group ordered: a Thai smoothie with boba, a brown sugar milk tea with boba, and a matcha milk tea with boba. The actual aesthetic of the location was really cute too! They had boba drinks on the wall with a nice small neon sign in the back. I will definitely be back here again. A little more on the pricey side, but definitely better than most boba places you come across in Chicago and a good serving size. read more

We drive by this place all the time. We finally decided to try this place because it turns out they also serve burritos. Their burritos (tuna and combination) are amazing good and very special. They are not too spicy but very rich in flavor. Bubble teas (brown sugar milk tea and Thai) are also good and the kids really love them. However the cups are a little thin. My daughter went on Wednesday last week specifically for a sushi burrito and unfortunately they were out but she didn't hear him say that they were out and thought he met that they were out of the tuna one so she said it's ok I'll have the salmon one and that's when the attitude started. I came here with my wife the other night, only to be extremely disappointed. My wife had been hyping it up all day saying the "sushi burrito was sooo good!" Well, as we arrived and got inside we had seen that the menu had the "sushi burrito" as an option, however when we had asked the young lady at the register if we could order it, she said they hadn't been selling it for over 6 months! Why even have it on the menu, only to not sell it. This was not the biggest issues though, we decided to order some of their bowls instead and were greatly let down even more. The lady had served us FROZEN fish. I mean completely frozen, you could not bite through it without losing a tooth. I went to up the lady in the front and told her about my meal and she had the nerve to ask if she just wanted me to "microwave" the tuna so it could thaw out more. GROSS. I asked if i could just get a different meat to add to the bowl, and she had the audacity to say "is it okay if i still charge you 2.50$? It wasn't even about the money, yet the simple fact that she didn't just offer me a new bowl for free. She took the bowl back and added microwaved chicken on top of the frozen tuna. When she handed it back to us, she said, "The chicken should defrost the tuna a little bit more, sorry about that".... What the hell.. She seemed like she had no idea how to deal with customers and she didn't seem to care at all. Very disappointed because my wife's bowl was quite good, our experience overall was not. read more

I am very impressed with this recently established bubble tea café. I am used to going to liquid fusion which is about 25 minutes south of Bubble Tea Lab. Now I no longer have to drive 45 minutes just to get an amazing taste of Bubble Tea. The best part about this place is that they are reasonably priced and provide food options that taste AMAZING! If there was a way to give this place more than 5 stars I most definitely would. They also bring the drinks out to your car if you don't want to stand and wait, how awesome is that? read more

I would never go here again. We stopped in and ordered 5 bubble teas. One of them was a brown sugar tea which was horrible and was just thin syrup vs the known thick syrup base. The other drinks : strawberry, peach, lychee and milk tea were disgusting as well. After a few sips trying to give the drinks a chance, we tossed them out.
