I went with my family to get a few bubble milk teas and used their bathroom and it had dog pee pads on the floor with pee spots on them! Then I noticed they had a small dog in the back room! That's gross! Then 1 of our teas didn't taste right and the lady argued with us and finally reluctantly made another 1! But she tasted our bubble tea after we all drank from it! I've been going to bubble tea labs for a while. I go between the Libertyville location and the gurnee location. They never disappoint, no matter the location. My favorite and recommendation is the brown sugar milk tea with brown sugar jellies. I love how chewy the jellies are. The service is usually pretty quick once you order. They have self paying kiosks that will take your order and ping the barista. This location had a super cool boba wall and gave me trendy vibes. Will definitely be back. read more

Bubble tea lab is tucked away in a small strip right by Wildberry. We stumbled upon Bubble Tea Lab after seeing their large sign outside. And wanted to see what it was all about. When we walked in we saw this super cute wall art and their large variety of beverages. We decided to try the banana milk tea and the strawberry milk tea. The banana milk tea was a bit too sweet for my liking (mainly because bananas are usually pretty sweet) but my husband loved it. I haven't been here much because the few experiences i've had here haven't gone well. The year or so ago I was here last, the boba was really flavorless and unenjoyable, but I heard it was under new management since then so I was interested to try it again. The place is really cute, and is pleasant to be in. Service varies for if you'd like to order it off a kiosk provided or in person with a cashier. The reason I gave it two stars is because in my experience, the boba hasn't improved. My friend who I went with got the mango smoothie, and although they really enjoyed the flavor, the car filled with a pee-like smell. My partner was not a huge fan of the boba and said it had an aftertaste, as well as their slushy's consistency as it was more soupy than smoothie like. I am a huge boba lover and I would totally recommend somewhere else like milkcow or kung fu tea personally. read more

Just visited the Bubble Tea Lab in Libertyville. I ordered an avocado, banana and oat milk with boba. It tastes like ice milk. Couldn't taste the avocado or banana. It seem like they only use powdered flavor and not real fruits and vegetables. Definitely can't be healthy. I'd rather have the real produce in my smoothies. 20 minutes after drinking this imitation boba tea, my mouth and tongue are very sore feeling. Must be all the powdered produce they use. At first the place was okay, it's not the best boba you can get around Libertyville, more mediocre. The boba is overpriced to start with, it's a 8$ drink for something that probably cost 1/4 of that to make it. The service is lacking and the people behind the counter are rude and not welcoming at all. When I asked for clarification on the menu the man behind the counter got irritated and rude. They messed my order up and when I asked for a remake the man behind the counter just gave a look and walked away. (Most of the time they have earbuds or headphones on and don't bother taking them off to speak to you as well). We've been here a number of times and when they are open, the drinks are good. But we have been there twice during open hours and no one is there. Lights are on, open sign is lit, but doors are locked. Arrived today at 11:20am (store hours said open at 11am). They have no fresh flavors due to covid, which I never heard of before, but they maybe could've added more flavor to enhance the flavor of coconut, but it was nothing close to the many bubble teas I have drank over time. This is the same drink she always gets. I also said we ordered a large not a small. We went back in the store and asked if this had been made correctly....maybe it was too concentrated because it was in the small cup. One of the two young persons behind the counter said maybe we took the wrong drink...?? We asked if it could be remade because it was so concentrated as we've ordered this several times before. I've been here 3 times now so I've finally been able to determine this place is just okay. The actually milk tea is pretty good, a little on the sweet side unless you get the coffee milk tea which is delightfully bitter. What really is the let down is the boba. I don't know if they make it themselves or are using pre-made or what, the boba is not that soft gummy texture, it's so chewy and tough! Very similar to the boba you get in the canned bubble tea drinks, which you expect because it's canned...you do not expect that from a milk tea shop.
