When I have the time in an airport concourse to relax before a flight, i seem to want to hang out in places that make me feel like I am not in an airport. There are very few. At O'Hare in terminal 3 we came across Bubbles. What attracted me to this place was the wine display on the back wall that looked intriguing to me. Most of these bars and restaurants serve house wines with minimal choices but Bubbles has higher end wines, Champaign and Prosecco, but not expensive and a variety of different wine regions and varietals to offer. Wines from California, France and Spain as well as Argentina. This was a classic wine bar that also served cocktails beers and mimosas. Limited to a Charcuterie board selection of meat and one that has cheeses but we did not sit down here for a meal. We came for the wine. I drank an excellent Cabernet from Alexander Valley and my wife had a Savignon Blanc. We ordered the Cheese Charcuterie board to pair with the wines. The bar atmosphere was conducive to meeting people and anytime you are drinking wine in an atmosphere like this, it makes it easy to do so. We really had a nice time here and will definitely be looking to spend my time before my flights here when in Terminal 3. Great find to spend our time. The service was great and friendly. I recommend Bubbles if you have the time and drink good wine. Just don't miss your flight!! read more

We ended up at Bubbles Wine Bar at O'Hare after missing a connecting flight, which is usually the kind of situation that sets the tone in the wrong direction. But this place actually turned it into a pretty enjoyable layover. It was definitely busy when we walked up, but we were able to grab a table without too much of a wait. Once we sat down, the whole vibe shifted. For an airport bar, it feels surprisingly relaxed. The standout feature is the piano--while we were there, a few different people stopped to play, and it gave the space a really cool, almost lounge-like atmosphere that you don't expect in the middle of an airport terminal. The wine list is legitimately good, not just "good for an airport." We went with a bottle of Zuccardi Malbec, which was a great choice and paired perfectly with some chocolate we grabbed from a nearby shop. Simple, but it worked really well. They also have beer and cocktails if wine isn't your thing, so it's easy to find something for everyone. Service kept up well considering how busy it was, and we never felt rushed, which was appreciated given the circumstances. Cute little wine bar in Terminal 3 at O'Hare. I've come here twice now, both times when I had several hours to kill before a flight. The biggest knock against this place is the prices; however, this is the airport and prices are inflated everywhere so if you keep that perspective it's not bad. It's also not super-high quality, but I've always enjoyed what I've had. Seating is limited-there is a bar with about 6-8 stools, and then a couple of high-top tables. If you come at a busy time expect to stand or hover until someone leaves. People do seem to turn over so it you are hovering it probably won't be too long. The bartender, Caesar, is great. He's very attentive and personable without being overbearing. Today I sat down at the bar and pulled out my laptop, right away he pointed out where there was an outlet so I could plug in. He also pulled out a portable speaker (presumably connected to his phone), so he could play some tunes. I got a kick out of the fact that when I noticed he was going to play music he told me I might be too young to enjoy his music (I took that as a compliment, and I know most of the songs he's playing anyway). They only serve wine, no food, but I've seen multiple people grab food from other nearby vendors and bring it here, so that doesn't seem to be an issue. I believe I was traveling mid May 2019. I always try to allow enough time to enjoy an adult beverage before traveling. It always calms me down and allows me to handle the craziness that always unfolds when traveling commercially. Because, let's face it...There's always something! So, imagine my surprise when walking to my gate, I was looking for a nice bar to have a cocktail in and I spot Bubbles...It's the classiest bar I have ever seen in an airport. Of course the drinks are overpriced. It's the airport! When have you ever seen a Happy Hour at an airport? I remember once complaining to a girl who had a tiny kiosk type water juice establishment...and she was like the prices are so high, because the rent is so high...she pointed to the small hamburger joint next to her and said, I know for a fact he pays $30,000 a MONTH...that helped me put the ridiculous drink prices into perspective. There was a good looking guy playing piano, which was nice. I ordered a glass of bubbly and enjoyed it. I did not have anything to snack on, but there were a few things that you could if you so chose. I conversed with a fellow traveler and found the bartender to be cordial and polite. If you want a good glass of red and to pay triple it's value while sitting in a beat up lounge, this place is for you. This is a cute-ish wine bar in the airport near the American gates. There was a piano player behind us playing some nice music and it looked like he was a pilot. Nice touch! The wine and drinks are pricey but my friend and I thought that a bottle of bubbly at $40 was a decent deal for us. We also had a light lunch there but I definitely wouldn't go for the food. They had a cheese plate and charcuterie but it came to us in like plastic containers that you get actually on an airplane. It was edible but not worth $14-$16. The service was fast but not friendly. This little spot is located between gates H and K in the American Airlines terminal, and has been a trusty go to on several occasions. It has a menu of small plates, as well as several wines, beers, and spirits to ease your mind before a flight. I have to say that the glassware here is perfectly polished every time, which is a little detail that I really enjoy. On this visit in I had 6oz pour for $11.00 putting my tab at $12.27 total after tax, but before tip. I believe Alejandro was my server, and was a pleasant young man. I've had a relaxing wine flight and snack a few times in a Vino Volo in various airports, and assumed Bubbles would be similar. Unfortunately it is a very pale imitation. The limited food menu seems to consist solely of pre-packaged snacks kept in a refrigerator. (Afterwards I looked around the premises and saw that there were no kitchen facilities.) They were out of the first 2 snacks we tried to order. The third thing was only adequate, and was inelegantly served in a plastic container. More surprisingly, for a place billed as a wine bar, they had no flights of wine to give customers the chance to try different things. That's disappointing. My husband and I had a 4 hour delay on our way to Florida, and so we stopped a Bubbles Wine Bar for a glass of wine. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very laid back. The white leather chairs are extremely comfortable, and the self-playing piano adds a classy touch. My only complaint is that the wine is horribly overpriced, and quite average. For example, Mirassou Pinot Noir, which retails for $7-10 a bottle, was on the menu for $11 (6 oz glass) and $40 a bottle. I know there always has to be some level of markup, but that much markup is just crazy, especially for a very average glass of wine. That said,at least the wine was being stored and served at the proper temperature. Overall, this place could do very well if they would change up their wine list and/or lower the prices. For an airport bar, I don't think it could get much better. The man who is always there is so nice, polite, and amenable - you couldn't ask for better service. (I have experienced a rather nasty waitress once before, as I've been here many times, thanks to flying American). It's such a sweet sanctuary right off the main concourse - with piano music usually played by a pianist or the piano going solo. The blue plastic covering the window makes the area totally calm. If you are lucky, you might snag one of the plush white chairs with low tables that line the exterior of this little shop. If you get a seat at all though, you're in luck. I love the prosecco here as well as the Malbec. What really makes this awesome is, if you're looking for a light, decent, bite of food before flight, their plates are classy and excellent. The most recent time my husband and I opted for the charcuterie plate and the shrimp. The shrimp were enormous, very tasty, and came with a good cocktail sauce and fresh, sweet diced cucumbers. The charcuterie plate had a diverse assortment of meats (o proscuitto de parma! I am sorry I dropped you - but our puppy was not!)... They could be a bit more daring in their cheeses, but all in all it was a great selection. I don't doubt we'll be back. read more
