This salon is quite new from what I've heard. They've only been open for about a month. It is located in a shopping center that has its own spacious parking lot. I did not have trouble finding a spot at all. They accept both walk-ins and appointments but I made an appointment to make sure that I wouldn't be waiting forever for a haircut. My hair stylist for the day was Tiffany. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted by the person at the desk and directed toward Tiffany. There was practically no wait time. Tiffany was very friendly and made sure we were on the same page in terms of what I wanted. I have straight Asian guy hair, which is one of the more difficult types of hair to cut, but Tiffany managed to cut and style my hair exactly how I wanted it. Finding someone who can do that for me is few and far between. I am certainly coming back for another haircut in three weeks. read more

Because I have curly hair, I'm always petrified to try a new stylist. Some say they "work" with curly hair, that doesn't mean they actually "know" curly hair. Well, Jane is amazing, and she's the only person I'll let touch my hair now. She cuts it perfectly and "knows" how much my curls are going to bounce up. She also adds long layers (not short layers) so my curls fall evenly rather than poofing out at the bottom. She's also sweet and friendly to chat with while I get my hair done. And she's super fast. As for the salon itself, it's clean, comfy in terms of waiting sofas (though I never wait long), and inviting, as they always offer coffee or water or whatever while I'm (or my husband is) waiting. The shampooing is relaxing and massage-like, and the overall atmosphere of this Bubbles is jovial. I highly recommend coming here, and I highly recommend you ask for Jane. :) read more

I was a little nervous to get my hair cut by someone I didn't know, somewhere I've never been. I needed a change though, and the lady I've gone to for years in Germantown had changed her hours. I was assigned to Erin, who was super sweet. I showed her some pictures of what I wanted and told her I trusted her and that she should have fun with the cut. Boy was that the right thing to do! I tend to be pretty picky with my hair even though it's not a tricky style :) Stylists make all the difference, though, and I met with Jenn R. today for the first time and she is amazing! She makes you feel very much at ease, is confident, has excellent suggestions, listens and just 'gets it'. I can't say enough great things about her. I cut a few inches off my length to create a bob style and she did just a stellar job. I brought in a photo of a style I liked and we worked from there. The salon itself is very clean and friendly. It's just the right size and isn't overwhelming (which large salons can feel like sometimes). Parking is very easy. The haircut costs are also very reasonable for a professional cut. For a last minute surprise before vacation, I scheduled a haircut and wax for my girlfriend here at Bubbles in Olney. I hadn't had any previous experience with this location- but I've had positive feedback from the one here in Tysons Corner and read a lot of good reviews here on Yelp. The receptionist's phone manners and helpfulness were incredible. She was polite, sincere, and very flexible. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a big smile and an energetic 'Hello!'. My girlfriend was scheduled with Elaine for the whole deal. Elaine is the embodiment of everything a stylist should be. Professional, meticulous, and (long lost in this industry)- PERSONABLE!!! While waiting for my dearly beloved, she was quick to offer me refreshments. She kept her engaged in conversation and also included me when and where possible. The manager on deck (I didn't catch her name, but she's got great make-up!) was working with a young child and really showed a fantastic ability to work with young kids. I'm surprised such a young person (8 years?) was getting a $35 hair cut, but hey- to each their own. Pricing was beyond fair for the quality of work and quality of staff. Although we live an hour away, I will gladly traverse the legendary 495 traffic to visit again and again. My stylist Jane was awesome. My hair was done exactly the way I wanted but BETTER. She did an amazing job cutting my hair and styling it. She is a driven worker and is great at delegating work and responsiblities to her other stylists while working on her own appointments, and managing the store! Customer service was great, client interaction was great, and the results of her work were even better. Store was clean and well organized and convienently located in the middle of other great shops. I just left Bubbles with my mother. (Approx 4:45pm) After standing at the counter for more than five minutes we were told no one could wash/cut her hair until 7pm. This is noteworthy because there were about 6-7 stylists there and no customers I could see. They may have been changing shifts. I went to this salon for the first time yesterday on a whim. I'm very glad I did! As soon as I walked in, Courtney (the front desk receptionist) greeted me with a big smile and set me up with a walk-in appointment. She offered me coffee and water and was very sweet. My stylist, Mary, was awesome as well. She let me explain how I wanted my hair cut and then she'd repeat what I had said, which showed me that she really understood what I wanted. There's nothing worse than a stylist who just nods while you're explaining what you want, only to totally get it wrong! Mary cut it perfectly, gave me some good suggestions for styling it on my own and was super friendly. Just recently moved to this area so I've been looking for someone to treat my processed bleach blonde hair. I called in requesting someone who is experienced or specialized in blonde hair and that I was willing to wait. When arriving that day I was put with someone who is brand new..... to doing hair. The whole entire appointment she kept going to the experienced stylists to ask what to do. The color ended up looking nice the only problem was she missed a few places in my hair so I had to go and buy color to cover it up. There is nothing more annoying than requesting a specialist or someone experienced and getting the complete opposite. You have lost me as a potential client and I am sure that you will lose plenty more because of the awful front desk customer service (and this comes from someone with years of customer service experience). read more

I had an amazing haircut here pre-COVID and decided to go back. Boy was that a mistake. I used to have layered hair but I decided that look was no longer for me. I spent the last year patiently growing it to one length. I loved it all one length, I just needed to get a trim. They BUTCHERED my hair. Without even asking, the stylist put in these chunky layers that are hard to style. My hair looks like a child got into a pair of scissors and started going at it while I was asleep. I want to cry so badly. I spent so long growing my hair to a uniform length and the stylist just ruined it. This was my second or third time going to a Bubbles Salon and I was right this place is awful. I had Jenn cut and style my hair. First of all, the receptionist told me to wait 10 minutes to come in bcs I came in at 10:50 and I get that they are a small salon and cdc protocols. But I came in at 11 when my appointment was and jenn was still blow drying someone's hair for 10 minutes after 11. She didn't even greet me. She told me to wash my hands and wait. And that's not the worst part of it, the shampooing process felt so forced and rough like she was pulling my hair. The shampoo had an awful mint smell too. And when I told her what style I wanted she didn't even to talk to me afterward when I tried to make conversation. I asked her about my layers and she talked back to me like she knew everything about layers. And when she blew dried my hair she was tugging and pulling at it like I was a doll. I like the haircut and style but the service was awful. Like you don't even have a coat rack? I just put my stuff where all the hair materials were on her counter. And I couldn't use my 10% off coupon bcs apparently "there service or brand name changed to another bubbles" no one ever posted that online. I've been to a few Bubbles salons in the DMV, and have had the best experience by far at the Olney location. Erin has done my hair (blowout) a few times, and it always looks great. She's an excellent stylist- friendly, listens, works fast. I would absolutely recommend her as well as the Olney salon. read more

Honestly the worst Bubbles location I've been. Have tried this location for myself three times and my 2 year old once and they're impossible. They claim to take walk ins, yet every time I've called for a kids hair cut I am given 1-2 time slots for the entire day. It takes 15 min, if that.. they don't even wash her hair. The one time I did have my child there, the stylist was super uninterested, not confident, and made no efforts to talk to my child. Won't go back to this location. read more

Let e begin by saying this is my first Yelp. It was my experience here at this Bubbles that prompted me to get on here and start reviewing. I also have to add that I don't ever get any sort of beautifying procedures done at all, let a lone a hair cut, so when I came in to get a deep condition treatment(my hair is really long and I had ran out of conditioner a few months back) I was extremely and pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere of the place. I had always been intimidated to go in due to the differences in demeanor a regular patron would have as compared to me but I'm really glad I took the chance that day. The receptionist was extremely amiable and even provided her personal phone charger for my use when I asked. They were able to see me within five minutes despite me being a walk in and the stylist Jennifer was both professional and friendly. Not only did she engage you in an easy conversational manner, she was able to convince me(without my later regrets) to get a trim on my hair. I thoroughly enjoyed one of my only lifetime experiences getting my hair done and have already booked an appointment to come back. I had Verna for my first ombre and I loved it! I am a brunette, and I wanted blonde ombre, but I didn't want the color to wash out my olive skin tone. She knew exactly what I was talking about! She gave me a caramel ombre and I loved it. I asked for long layers, and I liked the texture I had. I have thin hair - she made my hair have a little more oomph. I am going in today for my second time with her! I really like the salon. For years I have been going to the Hair Cuttery. While this is more expensive, I do think the quality is good. I love seeing the hair styles on the people that work there! I liked the ambience of the place. I have been going to this hair salon for many months now. I have a very short pixie hair cut and Erin does an amazing job cutting my hair ! It is very easy to schedule my next app and i love them for reminding me of my next app. I have a busy life and this place is very convenient, friendly , pleasant and I love all the staff specially Erin ! Erin is the best! I've never had my hair dyed because I've always loved the color and natural highlights. When I started getting gray hair I was so nervous the dye wouldn't look as great, but Erin worked with me on what I wanted and was able to completely match my hair color and make it look like I was young again even with the natural highlights. AND THERE SHE WAS....her name is Lee, gentle, understanding, comforting, not critical of the awfulness I was walking in with....she trimmed just enough...not like she was excited to see so much damaged hair and chop it off. Lee washed my hair, cut with a precision of a seamstress... Within minutes, I trusted her, she delivered, my whines of keeping my hair at a length while her sharp scissors were held on her hands... Will I come back? Hell YES.. Did she trim as she thought reasonable? Hell YES Did I walk out happy I did not get chopped off? Hell YES Will I go back again HELL YESS!!! Did I pay $250? Hell NO...I paid $30 plus tip! Thank you Lee. I will be back. Even though she said to come back in 4 weeks...I will come back earlier 1) My split ends are out of control 2) You earned my Trust Lee! Had the worst experience at this salon. I call to make an appointment and specifically ask for a hairstylist that is good with thick curly hair and I get Zaira, then the day of the appointment not only did we have to wait a bit for her but there was no where to sit (really cramped environment). She ends up using really hot water and being so rough with the shampooing and haircut that I speak up and say to be more gentle and she continued being heavy handed. I will never be going back to this salon again and definitely was not worth $35 for what seemed like a beyond rushed 10 min shampoo and cut. Absolutely disgusted with the service, even the haircutter down the street treats one better. Went home to a crying sister asking how come they treated her hair like a rag doll. read more

If you want a stylist who is young and hip with the latests hair trends then you should 100% call to make an appointment with Jen J. I have been going to Jen for a couple years now to get a blonde ombre and cut. I have naturally dark brown hair and I wanted to ombre my hair to a pale white. This is very hard to do without brutally damaging my hair...but Jen seems to make sure it stays nice and healthy. It took a few times of bleaching to get it to that pale white color that I wanted, but she is patient and always does exactly what you ask her to do. She also does an AMAZING job of blending between the two colors..and puts lots of passion and creativity into her work. She is very friendly and open to many new hair ideas! She has also ombred my hair to a beautiful teal color, which looked amazing too! I give her a lot of credit because i am a very picky client, but she remains patient :) read more

I needed a haircut, badly. For one reason and another, I was long overdue. It was a Sunday, so the salon I'd previously been to wasn't open, and my roommate suggested Bubbles. She and a friend had been there each a couple of times, had different stylists each time and been happy with all results. I did not have their luck. Bubbles is a cute place, is open on Sundays, they got me in with short notice, and the staff were friendly. Those are the good points, but they are not enough for me to go back. Unfortunately, the woman who cut my hair was distracted and my haircut suffered from it. She was finishing someone else's hair at the same time, washing out color, conditioning, and blow-drying, in between bursts of working on my hair. That didn't really bother me at the time, but when I got home and found the many flaws in my cut, it did. My hair is fine and very straight, so shows flaws easily, and there were quite a few places where it was uneven. I am trying to grow my hair out from short, so though I wasn't loving the cut even in the salon, I didn't want her to try to fix it and end up cutting it way short again. There, though, it just looked sort of boring, but ok, so I figured when I got home I could mess with the curling iron and accessories to make it more fun. It wasn't until I washed all of the many products and styling she had done (yes, many products and styling and it was still kind of "meh" there) that the uneven spots became glaring. Oh, yeah, the products. Bubbles is a selling salon. They are clearly trying to upsell and sell products from the moment you come in until the moment you leave. Obnoxious! I like that they have products for sale, but chill out, people. My stylist used about 8 products on my hair, which she told me about as she used them, then when I was leaving she came over and picked each one up off the shelf to tell me about it again. The gal behind the counter also tried to get me to buy products. My stylist talked to me about color for an unreasonable amount of time after I had stated I was not getting color that day, and brought it up again at the end. She gave me a little packet of her cards, which the check out gal then asked me if she had done, so clearly it's expected of them to do so. All of these things together felt really pushy. Even if I had been super happy with the cut, that would have felt pushy. So, sorry Bubbles, but I won't be back. I'll make my appointment ahead of time and drive the 45 min to an hour up to Baltimore next time to go back to Flaunt, where I had a spectacularly good experience and cut. read more

Verna is a fantastic stylist. She is professional, and she knows her craft. She does both my mother's hair and mine. Whenever we visit the salon we both leave feeling more beautiful. It will be a year this month that Verna has been coloring my mom's hair! She's cut my hair into a very jazzy style. My mother and I both get compliments all the time on our hair! I've been going to bubbles for almost 5, 6? years and my entire mom's side also goes to this Bubbles. My stylist has always been Jane from the beginning. I think what I love about this Bubbles and my stylist Jane is that I have been able to try so many new looks with it all being executed very nicely. I went from all black natural long hair to very short hair (almost a bob), to blonde hair, to an Anne Hathaway Devil meets Prada straight cut bangs with brown hair look, to currently an ombré. I have done this all with Jane and she has been great at consulting me before executing these looks, and at executing these looks. I think I always get the hair I asked for every time. I definitely do see why some people might say its a lot of money for a hair cut or for color, but I honestly think it is worth it. Your hair is something you have on show almost everyday. It makes sense to me to invest in it more than you would an article of clothing, etc. Plus Jane is incredibly consistent with her hair styling skills. I have never gotten a hair cut or color where I thought she didn't do as well as last time. My mom and my sister both have curly hair and they recommend Mary, especially to those that are looking for a stylist that can manage cutting your curls artistically. 12/3/2016 update: I went to Mary for the first time and I got my hair cut and I love it! She did an amazing job and was so nice and easy to talk to. I went from very long hair to a long bob with light layers and framing in the front! I would definitely go to Mary again.
