Will never return! Been to this location twice and both times left disappointed. Once was to get layers cut into my long hair- the lady who did it left me with really uneven layers that made it really hard to style. The second time I took my daughter in as a last resort but quick fix to get her hair even'd out bc we had to cut a round brush out of her hair. Well the chick didn't listen when I said she had a lob before (shorter in the back, longer in the front) and we just want an even cut all around this time. I had to stop her mid way when I realized that she was doing a lob again!!! Ended up with cutting off more than what was necessary, and when we got home to blow dry (bc they charge extra for that) we saw how reallllllly uneven it was. she left pieces in it that were at least 2 inches longer than the rest of her hair! Does bubbles just hire anyone willing to cut hair? I could have done a better job at home myself with my husbands clippers. Mad that I was nice enough to leave her a tip. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

I went as a walk in last Sunday and saw Jen J for all over color, add in foils, and a cut. A week later I must say that I have never loved the color of my hair more than what Jen has done. I have gone to Bubbles a few times now and have had Lily both times. I absolutely love her and how well she does my hair. Both times I have made a drastic cut. I almost did not return after my first visit here. On both trips the greeting was friendly and warm at the reception desk. I was taken promptly as the salon is not busy. The big difference was in stylists. I saw Eliane who was very charming and engaging. She truly listened to me and fulfilled my needs. I saw Staci on my first trip who seems an adequate stylist. However, unless you want to spend the entire time of your service listening to her push product. Stay away! It was throughly obnoxious and she is a rather sullen individual. This salon was recommended to me by a co-worker, and I am really kicking myself for not reading the reviews here before I decided to go. I see my experience here was NOT unique...(See DL's review below) I fell victim to Lee as well. I went in with brown hair that was long, down below my bra line. I asked for 2 inches off, and auburn color. I was very clear. What I walked out with was shoulder length, choppy, black hair. I tried making several comments along the way, to express my concern, but she would just get annoyed with me and tell me that I would see once it was done and dry (since it was wet, and she as behind me, I really couldn't tell). She asked me about layers during the shampoo...I clearly said I didn't want layers or thinning--my hair is (was) long and thick and I wanted to keep it that way--but she did it anyway! I didn't realize, of course, that's what she was cutting, or I would have stopped it sooner.. But unfortunately, it wasn't until halfway through the cut as she moved around to the front of my head, that I realized I had made a huge mistake-it was too late. At the end, I was visibly upset. They said not to worry, I would go home and it would look better. I pointed to the picture that I showed them when I arrived (example I was going for) and asked if they thought Lee had given me the cut/color I asked for. The girl diplomatically said 'its just blow dried and styled differently. That's $130. I didn't want to be 'that person', so I paid (what can I really do?). I went home and tried to do something, but this is going to take another year to grow back out and fix. Worst of all, I had done this on a Friday morning in anticipation for a weekend event. I am not ashamed to say that the excitement and relaxation of getting your hair done for a big day, for me, turn into a very upsetting and traumatic experience. My hair takes a long time to grow, and I had grown it out for 2 years. LEE managed to destroy it in 1 hour. If you insist on going to this place, here are 3 pieces of advice: == I would STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU AVOID LEE, ==DON'T GO HERE FOR COLOR. ==Lastly, this is NOT A PLACE TO TRUST YOUR HAIR TO FOR A BIG DAY OR EVENT either. Keep in mind they have a strict NO REFUND policy, so you loose your money right along with your time and hair. read more

My first review of Bubbles was four stars but I only had about half of an inch removed & long bangs added. I realize you can't fault an entire salon for a bad haircut because there are 'less than average' hairdressers everywhere. My last experience though makes me not want to go back. My hair was noticeably uneven and more than I wanted was taken off so I ended up going to another salon to have it fixed. I had also purchased dry shampoo (it was the last one on the shelf) and I only got 3 uses out of it. I took it back thinking I grabbed the tester but they insisted it wasn't and refused to reimburse without the receipt or give me another one. I understand it was my word against theirs but whatever happened to genuine customer service? I paid decent money for a product and clearly must have grabbed one that had been used. I wasn't rude when I went back. I explained the situation but the receptionist called the manager (via phone) and the manager wouldn't offer anything. read more

So happy with my hair! This was the first time I had ever been here and I was given Lee as my stylist. I wanted to get my highlights touched up and a trim. I told her I didn't want the highlights to be noticeable because the last few times I got my hair highlighted it came out streaky looking and I was not happy with it. She explained that she would put in a few more highlights than normal in order for it to come out natural looking. She gave me a free glaze treatment as well. I am so happy with my color!! The highlights are so natural looking and were exactly what I wanted. I also told her to only take off an inch or so from the ends and that's exactly what she did. I am so happy with the results! Will definitely be back here and will definitely ask for Lee again. read more

After a horrendous experience at the Wheaton Bubbles (see Yelp review), the Olney location saved the day. I called at 7:10 and asked how late they were open. 9pm was the response. Score. I asked if they had any availability before closing. Yes they had an available stylist. Score again. I arrived to a smiling receptionist who clearly wanted to ensure I had a positive experience. She showed me to Sonjai's station. Sonjai is lovely. She is warm, friendly, and also wanted to ensure I enjoyed my visit to Bubbles Olney. My haircut is exactly what I was looking for. Sonjai told me what to expect (time my appointment would take, cost, etc). They also do waxing at this location (not sure to what extent), but I'll keep that in mind for my next visit. Olney Bubbles has earned a satisfied and repeat customer. read more

Nice people, but they gave me an uneven haircut? It was harder to tell when I was there, because my hair was wet and flat and I wasn't trying to pay an extra $5 just to blow dry it, but it was definitely uneven later on. Plus the cut was just not really what I asked for (I had a photo, I described it, it was something that I've gotten with no problem elsewhere--they gave me a lopsided bowl cut). I went here because it's closer to where I live now, but I think I'll be going back to my old place even though it's a little further away. I might even go to my old place in a couple weeks just to get this reshaped after it grows out a little. Everyone was very friendly and professional, but I'm not a fan of their work. read more

This is a new salon that is still building customer base so you can easily get a same day appointment or just walk in, especially during the week. It is neat and organized, and they maintain a customer database so they remember who you are are and who you saw last time. I have straight hair but with several cowlicks that can fluster some stylists. Jane was able to handle it very well, in fact best style I've had in a while. So this will be my new place. Their line of Cibu hair care products are great, the Sticky Rice is perfect for my hair type and hairstyle and makes me look younger;-) The price is very reasonable, you will get as good or better style here than more expensive and upscale places. For example I have a better experience at this bubbles than when I used to go to Rainbow Hair Salon in White Flint which was 50-75% higher price. read more

As for the cut (or actually just a trim), she managed to mess up a nice bob by chopping making it an inch a half shorter on one side than the other side (not by design). By lucky chance I ended up with Ali, and will now never go to anyone else but her again. She was AMAZING. I'm surprised at the 5 star reviews, despite the lower priced haircuts. I asked for a trim with subtle layering on the bottom. I'll try to upload a photo of what I received. It was a disaster. I am not picky, but after seeing the back (Ni (sp?) didn't show me the back, nor did I remember to ask for a mirror at the time), I had to go back and get it corrected. The front layering was not great either, but not nearly as bad as the back. The correction was much better, but it is still crooked, the left side is longer than the right side. If my husband points it out, it's pretty obvious. So much for saving money or time. I'll go elsewhere and pay more for my final correction. I'm 36, and this is the first time I've been greatly disappointed with a haircut (or asked for a correction). It's also the first time I tried this salon. read more

first the receptionist was super friendly. got my hair cut into a bob from mary. she cut it and asked me about the length and even took into consideration that i didnt like to do too much with blow drying and coming in relatively regularly to keep it trimmed and in shape but when i told her i didnt mind the extra time i might need to put into doing my hair in the mornings she trimmed my hair alittle shorter. she also used this all natural oil in my hair at the ends to keep it sleek and shiny but didnt pressure me into buying it. will def go back to her again. my sister who cut her hair by another stylist on the other hand was pretty bad. she pushed products on her and my sister had to tell her that her hair was uneven and when we went outside i noticed the back was choppy uneven too. so def go with mary. read more

I got my hair cut here a few weeks ago and I am still really enjoying it!! Jane was my stylist and she did a WONDERFUL job! I showed her a few pictures of the style that I was going for and she delivered exactly that. She also spent time to blow out and curl my hair (*loved it*), I am so glad that I had plans to meet friends afterwards. :) As for the salon, it has a great atmosphere and all of the employees seemed friendly. I had gone to a few other places and thought they were too expensive relative to what I wanted done or took 3+ hours for highlights and a cut. Jane was super. I had an amazing experience here! I was so nervous about cutting my hair because years ago I had a horrible experience at the Hair Cuttery. My hairstylist name was Ali, and she's absolutely amazing. I put all my trust in her and she has me hooked. I am going to continue going here. They have a long hair $10 fee, but hey, I'd rather my hair done right than to be rushed. The money wasn't too bad. I always go to Bubbles to get my hair done and I only go because of Jennifer R. She always does an amazing job with coloring and cutting my hair and I would never go anywhere else to have my hair done! It takes her about an hour to put the coloring on my hair, have me rinsed and blow-dried, and have me sent out on my way. My hair always looks absolutely perfect when walking out the door and she is always asking me if I like how it looks. Jennifer R is so patient, kind, talkative, and great at what she does. Jennifer R is super amazing. I really cant say enough about her- consultations are awesome, she's honest with what she can accomplish, and her blow outs... Oh dear lord her blow outs. I've actually come to her to just have her blow my hair out before a weekend trip. She also gives me all the info I need to make them last the whole weekend. Super amazing.
