Do not order the chicken rustica a scrawny half chicken with underdone potatoes. It is supposed to feed two or three and is a one person portion. we were shocked at the tenacity in serving this for almost $40 When we complained the manager was not surprised and we were offered a free dessert on request. Unfortunately, our experience on 5/29/2026 was disappointing. Throughout our visit, multiple staff members were gathered near the kitchen area, being excessively loud, unprofessional, and disruptive to the dining atmosphere. Rather than creating a welcoming environment, it felt more like we were sitting in the middle of an employee break room. More concerning, on several occasions, we witnessed staff members chasing one another around with what appeared to be a pocket taser. Whether it was intended as a joke or horseplay, this type of behavior is completely inappropriate in a restaurant setting. It raises legitimate concerns about professionalism, workplace safety, and management oversight. The food was average at best, and the service lacked urgency and attentiveness. Combined with the distracting and unprofessional behavior from the staff, it made for an experience that fell well below expectations. I hope management addresses these issues, as guests should not have to witness unsafe horseplay or disruptive employee behavior while trying to enjoy a meal. read more

Family style Italian restaurant near the Lucas Oil Stadium is nice. The walls are covered with old photos of families and Italian stars. It's a big place with lots of smaller dining areas. Our dining room was loud. The waiter explained the two sizes of servings and how many people each would feed. For the four of us we chose limone chicken with capers and Ziti. The antipasto salad and garlic bread rounded out the meal. We had plenty of food, and no extra. Each bowl of pasta or meat platter to feed four is about $50 each item. Food was good. Stopped in for a quick lunch at this Buca di Beppo location in downtown Indianapolis with colleagues, while visiting the Circle City for a few days. We had decided to walk from a meeting location, the Murat Theater, to our hotel and explore the city a bit. Well worth the effort and about an hour walk around, not including this lunch which added some time to our outing. It is a typical Buca di Beppo if you've been to one of their restaurants... But in this instance, it had a nice covered patio in the front, which I had never experienced at a Bucca. Same great Italian fare on the menu, which was served up hot and quick. serving staff was friendly, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable time. I noted that there were many restaurants open for lunch in the downtown Indianapolis area. All of them looked interesting. This is certainly a city that I look forward to visiting again lots to do here and many fantastic places to eat. read more

When you're this close to the convention center, you just really don't have to try. Walked in to the place through the kitchen which was odd because it was super hot, nowhere to stand. Just wasn't the best entrance to see a guy pouring red pasta sauce into a pan from a plastic bag.. fresh Italian, eh? Also, I did not get to actually dine here. We waited in the hallway for our table, and then they sat our party at two different booths (so, if you're going to be attending with a group, you may not even get to sit with them. The waiter, larger man with facial hair, came over and asked about checks we said yeah our table will do however many checks they can (hey, don't fault us we're on a work trip with per diem) and he said he can only do 3 for the two tables. I said well we aren't even sitting with them so how does that count? He quickly got upset and frustrated - quite uncomfortably and disarming - and said we are one party, etc, at that point I got up and left. I don't understand how someone could be so rude to customers just for asking a question about the checks and clarifying. So inappropriate and left feeling quite uncomfortable and upset. read more

We had a volleyball team playing at the convention center. Although we thought our party of 32 had a reservation, apparently someone failed to sign us up. Steven Enriquez stepped up and places our entire party in an area together in the time we thought we had reserved. The staff got our food and drinks out in a timely manner and we were able to get back to the gym in plenty of time. I just can't seem to fathom why this place only has like 3.9 almost 4 stars. When I tell you, I just experienced the best customer service by TC, I have not experienced anything like this before. He was clever, hilarious, communicative, and he does a great job at his job. My food was hot and fresh and he brought that out pretty fast. The food was absolutely amazing. The price is here was very high for something that tasted like Olive Garden $25 for fried mozzarella was crazy. It tasted like TGI Fridays. The frozen box that you get at home. If anyone wants delicious Italian food go to Carrabba's. But I do have to say the truth. The ambience here is fabulous. A cozy, welcoming first night in Indy! Our first night after moving to Indianapolis, it was a freezing 7 degrees outside--and Buca di Beppo turned out to be the perfect warm welcome. As a family coming from a small island, this was my kids' first time in a big, bustling restaurant, and the staff made them feel like absolute VIPs, even with the dinner rush. The service was quick, the energy was upbeat, and the eclectic decor gave us the perfect opportunity to play "I Spy" while we waited. And let's talk about that Fried Mozzarella--it's hands-down the best I've ever had, and the homemade marinara sauce took it to another level. The dessert plate was as big as my face and delicious. We took clients to dinner during FDIC. It was busy and I understand that. First round of drinks took around 25 minutes to come out to us. Appetizers were very good but unfortunately that's the only positive we had for the night. We waited for our food. Some of our entrees came out and they were very lackluster. The penne pasta had a funky taste to it. The chicken parm had soggy breadcrumbs and was very dry. After another 25 or so minutes the chicken Marsala came out which we sent back because we had already finished eating. We did order a second round of drinks when the meal was first served but they showed up very late to the table well after we were done eating. The low ceilings, eclectic picture frames, and almost back door entrance make it feel like a secret spot. Two colleagues and I ate dinner here. All the portions are large enough to serve three people. We had the Caesar Salad, Garlic Bread, and Shrimp Fra Diavolo. The Caesar Salad had a good creamy dressing that did not taste like what I expected. The Garlic Bread was buttery and had minced garlic pieces. We were in town for a Knicks/Pacers game and came across this restaurant around the corner from our hotel. I've always wanted to go to one of these restaurants. I've seen them various cities and am glad we came. It was a quiet Monday night. Thank goodness the server told us about the family portions because they are huge! I was on business and had a large group of 11 to take to dinner. We were in Indy for a very busy convention which seemed to book every other popular restaurant in the city. We arrived to a very family oriented type restaurant chain. The servers were attentive and explained everything was served family style. However when you pay $40 for 3 pieces of chicken you expect it to come with a side of pasta. Well not here. You have to order a whole separate dish of pasta for another $35 dollars. The quality of food was a step above an Olive Garden but not what I expected for the price. The saving grace was the service was good. They were also very accommodating to sing a special birthday song for one of our members. It was an adequate meal but definitely pricey for the portions. read more

Terrible experience! We had a reservation, but our larger party (17) was split up amongst three tables that didn't connect. The tables that were closer in proximity were dirty and never bussed/cleaned. We ordered an item on the menu and were told it's new and they can't make it. Food took over an hour to be brought to us and we had to ask for several things ordered, several times. Food was just okay to decent. After way too long being there and looking around at numerous tables stacked with dirty dishes and even more time waiting for the bill, we found it was not split up as we had asked from the start. The waiter again was of no help. He legitimately didn't seem to care. We had to go through the $700+ bill and itemize things that were combined, etc. Finally another wait staff took pity on us and helped us charge each of our cards individually. It was awful. Most of us have been to different Buca's before and have never had anything close to this poor of service and quality. Having been a waiter myself for a long time (awhile ago) and having dealt with every situation imaginable, this was plainly unacceptable. Buca di Bummer!! read more

We are in town for a conference and went walking looking for dinner. The old sign out front just spoke to us so we went in. You enter and pass right by the kitchen that was spotless. We were seated in a booth looking out at the street, greeted by a super friendly lady who explained that it is served family style (big portions for 3 or more). We ordered the Quattro al Forno, bread half and half and mozzarella caprese. Absolutely some of the best Italian food I've ever eaten. Balanced flavors and delicious sauce. Service was a 10/10. Learned our lesson. Never again, Buca, never again. I've never had a restaurant experience where the guests actually started talking from table to table to each other about how bad the food was. "Is your food bad? Tasteless?" (In that case, one table was talking about meatballs. The other table acknowledged that that was the way this restaurant is. You just gotta add salt/pepper to get it to what you like.) I felt like I was on a reality TV show. We stopped in just after 9pm after a major event downtown (closing time is 11pm). On a hot summer night, we were looking for a little dessert, some refreshing beverage, and be on our way. The restaurant only had maybe 3-4 patrons in it. The bottom line is that the service was slow, the prices were (deceptively) high, and our tiramisu was hardly edible and bore no resemblance to anything you'd call tiramisu. For $18.99, we got a brick of what seemed like manufactured cake layers, tasteless & sugary icing, topped with cocoa powder of some kind. Mind you - I didn't come in expecting authentic Italian. I don't think anyone does when they go to Buca. But I didn't expect the tiramisu to have the density of clay brick and to rest in the pit of one's stomach like you ate a rock. I was apparently feeling in a particularly kind mood - we paid without complaint and got out of there. We got a to-go box for the 50-60% of the tiramisu-brick that we did not eat. (It went into a nearby trash can on the sidewalk outside the restaurant.) I came home and brushed my teeth twice to get rid of the taste. Oh - the dessert portion of the menu said it was $10.99. When I asked about the $18.99 on the bill, they pointed out the $10.99 was the lunch portion. $18.99 was the dinner portion. (We never saw dinner dessert menu area.) read more

Shana provided AMAZING service. A group of 30 coworkers made a reservation for this past Thursday night. We had a little room all to ourselves which was great since we got a little rowdy! Shana was our server and did 99% of the work herself for our entire party! While remaining friendly and social with the group, Shana provided perfect service. We learned in the beginning that the bartender was not there so Shana was taking drink orders, making AND serving the drinks for 30 people! (and yes...we all ordered several rounds from the bar) We received complimentary bread and oil/vinegar before our appetizers came out. Even though we had a large party, we definitely over ordered! My table alone had the chopped antipasti salad, calamari, spaghetti with meat sauce, chicken carbanaro and chicken limone. Other tables had chicken parm, shrimp pastas and a myriad of other entrees. Once we realized we had so much left over and no way to take leftovers, Shana offered to put the food in the alley for the homeless. We were thankful for her offer since that is what we wanted to do with the food but didn't know how to make it happen! My group of 14 went to Bucca and reserved the Pope table. Our waitress was Angie who was outstanding. Angie was kind, professional and attentive to our large party. The food was delicious. Particularly the arrabbiata pizza, fettuccine alfredo and the shrimp fra diavlo. We come to Indy once a year for a work event and always have a meal at Bucca. They never disappoint. My Family and I came here to celebrate my girlfriends sisters college graduation. The restaurant as you walk in has lots of photos to start an interesting conversation. We were sat in a very timely manner. The service was great, our server Asia was fantastic. Asia was very attentive to our needs. This is a family style place, they serve meals that feed 3-5 which was new to our family. We ordered the trio appetizer, it was pretty good the group would rate the appetizer a 6/10. We ordered our entrees, and they were just okay. Not our favorite. The chicken was very dry and rubbery. The pasta was too hard. Food quality was just okay all around. Definitely nothing to come back for. We will be looking to other Italian restaurants for our food needs. read more

Buca has always been a special place for me. From birthday parties to celebrating life events in college to dates, Buca was always one of my favorites. Unfortunately my most recent visit didn't live up to my expectations. The portions are still huge, delicious, and decently priced; however, the booth seating was terribly uncomfortable and worn, the table was dirty, the plates were dirty, and our wrapped silverware had old spaghetti sauce on it. The server was quick to get us new cutlery, but my son was so grossed out he refused to eat for half the meal. Our server was super sweet and attentive, but the upkeep could definitely use some attention. The booth seats were just gross and unacceptable when at a restaurant like that. read more
