Nice place to go with a large party or visitors that want a Chicago Italian retro feel. I think the food is very good, I didn't know it was a chain at first. I love the egg plant parmesan and my family liked the rib tips, but it was a special for that particular night. I ordered the house wine, but it was average. We ate in the kitchen once, it was fun. I'd give this a zero rating. My kids and I ordered fettuccini alfredo with chicken and lasagna. We were hungry. Once the food came we started eating and the alfredo was bland with no taste. Our lasagna was brown and soggy. Everything tastes old and the cheese is so crumble like it's old. The environment we outdated, dusty, and so dark.. not comforting at all. When some bread was served the waiter poured some oil in a plate and took the decanter away. We were never given bread plates. The food was good but not the quaility of 2 other Italian restaurants I visit. Dishes are served in small and large, both meant to be shared with others. We got PROSCIUTTO STUFFED CHICKEN which I thought would be like a dish we had at another restaurant, and I might have enjoyed it more if I had not had the other. The cost at the other restaurant was more costly though. Surprisef to find that a pasta side was extra and not included. Is this restaurant Italian. The service was poor, my son received his meal 10 minutes before my husband and myself. Both my husband and son sat without a drink for most of the meal. The food was mediocre and overpriced. Most disturbing however was the men's restroom. There was diarrhea on the walls and toilet seat. A worker from the restaurant walked in while my husband was in the bathroom looked around, but did not clean the bathroom. I called the restaurant 2 hours after we left, the manager was not aware of the problem, so most likely the mess stayed there for hours. Disappointed and disgusted. read more

Ordered on-line yesterday for my wife's birthday celebration. Got home after picking up the food and the order was missing a couple items. An order of spaghetti with meat balls ($34.50) and the kid's apple juice. I called immediately and the hostess said the manager was too busy to talk and that they would call me back either later that night or the next day. Still waiting for a call back. Very poor response for a huge error on their part . Buca di Beppo should have taken immediate ownership of the problem and issued an immediate refund or had the missing items plus a dessert for our inconvenience immediately delivered to our house by their home delivery service or at the very, very least available to us for immediate pick-up. I do not recommend ordering anything beyond a single dish or two online for pickup from this establishment. Complicated orders of 5 or 6 items are beyond their capability. read more

I've been to Buca di Beppo many times in Columbus, OH and have pretty much always enjoyed my dining experience. However, we ordered Buca to Go from the Lombard, IL restaurant and were very dissapointed. It was fairly expensive ($60-$10 coupon) for garlic bread, small mashed potatoes, small spaghetti and meatballs and the chicken saltimboca. The chicken saltimboca was really good. It had 3 chicken breasts, plenty of artichoke hearts and lots of capers. We also liked the meatballs. Otherwise, we didn't really like anything else. The mashed potatoes, which we normally love, were very dry and not good at all. The garlic bread is waaaay overpriced. It was $9.99 and we received 8 small, fairly dry pieces. The spaghetti is the equivalent of Ragu brand sauce but not quite as good. I doubt we will every do the Buca to Go again. read more

I don't know why I have come here as many times as I have. I always leave disappointed. This time we got the pasta al forno and it was inedible! It tasted like they drenched everything in gorgonzola cheese and basil. Horrible! The 2 stars instead of 1 are for chopped salad (which, even though we asked for no gorgonzola it still had some) is very delicious and service was great. They even got rid of the purple plum drink which probably could have earned them an extra star! Lame! read more

If you've never been here before you should definately try it. The food is served in platters and then everyone sitting at the table shares those. You can easily feed 2-3 people on one platter. My favorite dish by far is the Penne Cardinale which has chicken, artichokes in a cream sauce. We have since starting making this at home by adopting our own recipie, its that good. We were staying at Westin, we decided to venture out to look for a place to eat close to our hotel. My wife says how about this place, place was pack , it was Saturday around 6. But, luckily we got a seat at the bar, Sharon was most gracious telling us about the menu. We try the baked ziti which was absolutely fantastic!!! The bread was great also. , Then we decided to get the dessert the Italian Lemon Cake was simply put awesome, not heavy, just right. We've ordered from here quite a few times, and more than half of them are for the carry out. They have a really good spicy chicken rigatoni that we can't seem to get enough of, and the family style dining means you get to try a little bit of everything. You must try to the apple gorgonzola salad when you come here, it is excellent. They serve family style here, so there are huge portions and lots of sharing. The service was good as well. My only gripe was that the dishes that were initially placed at our table were noticeably dirty. This is located off of a big shopping mall. We were a group of 12. The food and service were very good. They serve alcohol and I had a glass of merlot. We were told on the weekend, it is family style ordering, so the minimum order for a dish is 3 for about $33. Some of the dishes are just meat, so to get a complete meal you may need to order the salad and pasta separately. Someone else did the overall ordering. We had a ton of food left over. So this is not the place to go for a couple on a Saturday night as you can't order just for two! However, we had a great time. read more

Had a taste for their lasagna. It used to be an every-so-often item, but now it's on the regular menu. It used to be 9 layers, if I remember correctly, and was delicious. Tonight's lasagna seemed to be 5 layers, had overcooked (mushy) lasagna noodles, and way too much ricotta cheese. The calamari portion of the "triple" appetizer had mostly "bodies". I was so excited to try this restaurant as I heard people ranting and raving about it at work. Some coworkers and I went over lunch and had the absolute worst experience! The four of us were sat in a booth. The booth looked clean but it was disgusting, there was nose snot on the sides of the booth, hence getting on my hands (when I sat down), my purse that was placed beside the booth and on my pants. It absolutely made me vomit. I understand a restaurant cannot control what others do but this was absolutely disgusting. Overall, it was just a terrible experience. I will NEVER go back! The food is terrible, you can tell it's either microwaved or out of a frozen bag or can. I would highly recommend steering clear. If you want good Italian food, go anywhere but here! read more

Went last night for the first time in a few years and once again the food was outstanding the service was great and everyone had a great time. The calamari is fresh and not tangy, the sausage and mostacioli was good, both the sweet and hot sausage were original in flavor. I know there is a lot of Italian food in the Chicagoland area, but for me this is extremely close to grandmas/moms cooking which is what I look for in Italian food. read more

Went there last night with my two sons hoping to have some good Italian. The free bread with olive oil was standard, not super fresh. My son's sangria was very good. So far a decent start. Then came the entrees. We ordered the small veal parm for 3 and the small linguini frutti de mare for 3. 2 of the 3 veal parms were cafeteria grade acceptable, one was grisly and inedible. The linguini sauce was very good but there were several broken mussel shell pieces in the pasta. VERY DANGEROUS if accidentally unnoticed and swallowed. So, I ventured off last night to Lombard to have a nice Italian dinner with my nice coupon (if you have not signed up for Buca's email list, don't sleep on it as they send awesome discounts). I was immediately greeted and seated, which was great. I also noticed that they now have a "Create Your Own Pasta Bowl" option on the menu, which was also awesome as I find that I often try to create my own pasta dish with the menu options anyway. After placing my order, the waiter brought me a warm, soft loaf of bread and the olive oil that Buca is known for. I was thoroughly enjoying my carb treat when another waitress swiftly swiped the olive oil from my table and gave it to another table. Keep in mind that I still had half a loaf of bread on my plate and no oil. The fact that the waitress just took away the oil without even asking if I was finished definitely put a sour taste in my mouth. As always, the portion was plentiful (I had to take home half of my entree) and the pricing was fair. I also found the pasta to be tasty. However, I will most likely be ordering carry out if I choose to visit this restaurant in the future. read more

I just had my birthday dinner here on Saturday with 25 people. The food was delicious and came out at the same time. The service was the best service I've ever had at a restaurant. We were a big party and I was expecting it to be busy. The server jen was so welcoming, she knew everyone's name, and really made us feel well taken care of. Loved everything about this place!! Buca Di Beppo is one place I will never go to again... unless my wife and I end up having 5 or 6 more children. The food is tasteless and terrible. I've had better pasta sauce out of a jar. I guess I shouldn't have expected much from this place since it's a value-oriented restaurant. I gave it two stars because of the large portions... which work out fine if you're trying to feed a larger number of people. There's just so many better options in the area for Italian food. I could not see myself going back to this place. I've never tried this place before and just got to try it this past Weds night for dinner. They seated us right away even though we were a party of 7. We originally wanted to go to PF Changs down the street but they were so packed. We ordered the calamari appetizer (which was so good!) that came with quite chunky marinara sauce which I enjoyed. It went well with the bread too. The kids loved the bread and the calamari. We also got the Linguini Frutti di Mare which was basically linguini with mussels, shrimp, squid, in a type of marinara sauce. It was so yummy. The linguini was cooked just right (i loved the texture as you bit down into it) and the seafood was not fishy at all. Very tasty and blended very well. We also ordered a margherita pizza with spicy italian sausage add-on. MM the sausage was good. For me the crust and the sausage is very important to me in making a pizza taste good. I like thin crust which this had (though I liked crust at other restaurants a bit better) and the sausage was not too spicy which was good for me since I can't take it if it's TOO hot. I don't think I'd order the pizza again though because I liked the linguini better. :) Portions were huge as warned by people before. We got the large size for both and we had enough leftover to feed my hubby and I for dinner on the next night and we eat a lot. It was well worth it too since those 3 dishes were at the classic pricing (meaning their price is cheaper than usual only on 15 of their select items) because Buca's celebrating 15 years anniversary. I'd go there again. It is definitely a family restaurant too. It was kinda weird when we came in they led us through the kitchen to get to our table though. Is that at all Bucas? Service was friendly but I think our waitress was having an off day or something because she had trouble speaking and seemed to be all over the place. Parking is easy of course. I have to say that I was definitely disappointed when I recently visited Buca. I have been there a few times before which was probably about 4 yrs ago. I feel as though the portions have gotten significantly smaller and the prices have gone up. We paid $10 for Mozzarella Garlic Bread which was like 5 tiny little pieces of bread that weren't all that special. I just am no longer impressed by the amount they are charging when the quality of the food has definitely dropped. The service was okay but nothing special. I know they were busy but we had to ask for everything. The parmesan shaker was out so we put it at the end of the table and the server never noticed and we had to ask for more. We also had to keep asking for refills because he did not notice that we were low. Not sure if I will be back anytime soon. read more

For this location they suck meaning the service so unfriendly and just plain stupid. Ok so my cousin handicap she has a walker (not a wheel-chair) and made a excuse so we don't have a ramp but were going to take you the kitchen to be seated. They litterally wanted us to sit in the kitchen. They had a booth in the kitchen and said that's our special seating. When they really did have a ramp and just didn't want us to have a bigger table. We ended up having a bigger table. The food wad good their sauce is yum. The service was horrible. The decor is a little off. The downtown location is way better with service and food. read more

I was shopping in Yorktown yesterday and was planning to go to The Capital Grille. It was closed and we came to this place. First we got there and there was a strange odor that was very unpleasant. To get to our table they took us through the kitchen. Weird. We sat at our table and it took at least 15 minutes to get water. We were told how the menu works. We ordered the chopped salad which was $11 per person. Kinda pricey. We then ordered the chicken Limone which was also split by 3. When the chicken arrived there were 3 tiny pieces with no sides or pasta. We ordered pasta it was drenched in butter. Nothing else. This is all we had to eat with 3 soft drinks. $ 82 with a $16 tip. Absolutely terrible service and way way over priced. We live in the city and dine out often at authentic Italian restaurants. This place is an insult to Italian cuisine. Do people really enjoy this place? Never ever again. Buyer beware. read more
