Was a staple for us in Italy Truffle fondue pasta - 5/5 DELICIOUS. I always try to choose the most interesting and my parents, who said they never would have ordered it based on the description, LOVED IT. Visited this restaurant with my coworkers for a team dinner on a Tuesday. The space is large and inviting. Great for small or large groups. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. Had an early family dinner here. Made a reservation for 4:30pm on a Saturday. We had to wait a few mins before we were sat. We had a table in the back right next to the kitchen. I am a wine club member and gave the server my member card. She explained they had all the same wines as Coopers plus a few different ones. I ordered the frozen Bellini sangria which is my fav. This was the 1st time I've tried this restaurant since being diagnosed with celiac so I was excited to try their GF dishes. I informed the server that I had a gluten allergy. We shared a tre carne yellow pizza on GF crust. We could see everything that the kitchen staff was doing to make the pizzas. I was a little worried since all the pizzas go on the same counter station and I was hoping they did something different with the GF ones. Unfortunately they did not. I saw two GF pizzas ahead of mine be made and the kitchen did not change their gloves nor use different utensils. They were also put on the same counter as the rest. The counter was full of crumbs and there were so many pizzas that it can easily touch others. I was hoping mine would be different but it wasn't the case. The server brought out the pizza and I informed her that I do not feel safe eating it. I explained the situation and let her know that I cannot have even a crumb of gluten. She let the managers know and said the pizza would be remade safely. The manager talked with the kitchen staff and oversaw how my pizza was being handled. They do have a dedicated oven space for GF pizzas but just need to implement some protocols. They ended up wiping down the counter and made sure there weren't a lot of pizzas when mine came out. For my entree, I had the hand rolled three finger cavatelli with GF linguine instead. They indicated a manager was overseeing that it was made properly and safely. The food came out at the same time since the pizza was a re-fire. The food was fantastic! Everything tasted really good. But as I continued to watch the pizzas being made, I saw the same things happening with another GF pizza. I really hope they can find a dedicated spot to keep the GF pizzas separate when they are ready to be ran to the tables. A manager isn't going to be able to monitor everything that comes out. I understand it isn't a dedicated gluten free restaurant but they can definitely take precautions to avoid as much cross contamination as they can. The server did apology and thanked me for creating awareness. The GF pizza was comped from the check. Again the food was delicious so I really hope they can put better procedures together to ensure guests safety around allergies. read more

I've been to the restaurant a couple times but decided to try take out and see how it was. Everything was still a 10/10. For appetizers i got the chopped salad and the truffle fondue cappellacci. I didn't know what to expect because sometimes take out salads can be hit or miss but this tasted just as good as it would ordering it there. There were plenty of toppings including their dressing all chopped together. It was fresh and all the toppings blended well with eachother. The pasta dish is a must get! I think about this pasta a lot. The pistachios with the balsamic and truffle is unlike anything i have tasted. The flavors all complement eachother and for not having any sauce this dish is packed with flavor. For the pizza i got the spicy pepperoni. Cannot go wrong with any of their pizza here. It tastes like the real pizza in italy! The riccota and crispy yet light crust are my favorite part. Overall i would recommend for anyone to come here if they are in the area. We have been wanting to check out piccolo buco since they opened a few years ago & glad we finally had the time to. Right now the closest location to use is this one in oakbrook but there is another location in Naperville and Tampa (we are located in Indy and hopefully will have one in the future!) We came here on a Thursday evening around 430 and there was plenty of seating (much busier by the time we left around 6) they also have a happy hour with $15 pizzas during this time. The atmosphere is relaxing and casual and a bar area with TVs is an option as well Our server was super friendly which also made the experience great. They have a lot of the Cooper's hawk wines here but also some unique ones as well. Just like at Cooper's hawk; you can try some samples before ordering & can use your tasting here if you are a wine club member. Pizza was delicious! Definitely better fresh but we did get one to go and still tasted good. Next time I'm here I am definitely getting the yellow sauce pizzas- a yellow tomato base that was excellent! They were easily able to make accommodations to the pizzas on the menu - I added ricotta to the pepperoni pizza and also pleased there was no upcharge! Cooper's Hawk has most definitely excelled with their new restaurant Piccolo Bucco! I was visiting Naperville and decided to try out this restaurant as we don't have any in AZ. At first glance the restaurant was super modern yet welcoming and had a cool Italian vibe. The turnstile door was a great touch as it took you straight into the Wine Bar. We were quickly greeted by the bartender then directed to the host desk who quickly seated us for our reservation. It was quite empty at 11am on Friday as they had just opened. The decor was absolutely fabulous and charming. Our server was so friendly and explained highlights for Piccolo Bucco's menu as it was our first time. I tried the Chianti reserva, but it wasn't for me. As a Cooper's Hawk wine club member I was already familiar with their wine menu and went with the wine of the month instead My daughter and I shared a yellow pizza with pepperoni and sausage, the short rib Parpardelle pasta, and even ended up getting the limoncello dessert as it sounded AMAZING. Everything was played to perfection and looked so tasty....and delivered on every single bite! The pizza has a light crust that is charred from the pizza oven, and the yellow tomato sauce was full of flavor. The pasta dish was fantastic and full of a meaty ragu sauce. As for the dessert - it was tarte, sweet, and honestly so perfect. I hope a location is built in AZ soon as this place is absolutely PERFECT for a date night or lunch with friends. read more

Food entree is very small portions for the cost, the eggplant parmigiana is ridiculously small, no pasta, egg plant is so cheap to buy and the portion was so small. What!! No bread!! One of my favorite places to visit for tempura zucchini blossoms! I sat at the bar, Zoe my very patient and knowledgeable server. She is excellent- kind, efficient & ready to make recommendations! Yes, I did order the squash blossoms with a white wine tasting!!! Perfect pairing. The blossoms were so light and airy, cheese filling- just the right amount to not overpower the delicate blossom. My only critique is that the lemon sauce was a little heavy compared to the marinara- which would have added a little more balance to the tart. After all this time, I paid Piccolo Buco another visit to give it another shot. And I'm very happy I did. I enjoyed my second visit much more than the first one, but I think that's because we included more variety in our order besides pizza. We ordered the zucchini flowers as an appetizer, which were great. However, this pasta we ordered was absolutely phenomenal and one of the best pastas I've ever had - and I just came back from Rome and the Tuscany region. I actually genuinely believe it's better than most pastas I've had in Italy. The salad was delicious too. The pizza we ordered was my least favorite thing we ordered. Alright, let's talk Piccolo Buco. Back in town for New Year's. Same trip my wife and I make every year. Same city that always feels like home. We wanted something simple. A good meal. A couple glasses of wine. Nothing complicated. We've been Cooper's Hawk members for more than a decade. And everyone, everywhere, keeps telling us the same thing. You have to try their sister restaurant. So we finally did. We grabbed our usual Cooper's Hawk wines. No surprises there. Always dependable. Always strong. Then we went in on the squash blossoms to start. Light. Fresh. Nice flavor. After that we split two pies. A Margherita and a pepperoni. Food was solid. Crust had personality. Ingredients tasted clean. No complaints there. But here is where I call it straight. The menu feels thin. And vague. I walked in ready for a steak. Maybe filet medallions. Maybe something with some depth. Instead it is mostly pizza, salads, pasta, a few starters, and dessert. Nothing wrong with that, but it feels limited. And vague descriptions do not help. I like to know what I am ordering. Wine, though. That is where they win. A plus. No argument. It is Cooper's Hawk wine. It carries the whole night. Staff was fantastic. Friendly. Attentive. Quick. No issues. Restrooms were clean. Restaurant itself was tidy and dialed in. Good energy. Comfortable space. So here is where I land. Food. Good. Wine. Strong. Menu. Needs work. If you are a Cooper's Hawk fan, you will enjoy it. If you want pizza and wine, it hits. If you walk in wanting a steak night or something heavier, you will feel boxed in. Would I return? Sure. Piccolo Buco was awesome!!!! It was the perfect way to end a long shopping day. It was high energy in there, lots of people eating and drinking their hearts away. We got the chopped salad, fungi pizza, yellow margarita pizza and pepperoni pizza. Everything was really good. The pizza dough had the fluffiest crust ever while still being slightly crispy on the outside. The rest of the pizza was thin like classic neapolitan pizza. The fungi was my favorite, a really well done white pizza. The yellow margarita was good, but I didn't realize that it was basically just a white cheese pizza so that was my mistake. Thursday night @ 5:30 Mixed review. Very good food...we all had pizzas...one vegan, one Italian sausage, one 'ndjua. The pizzas were very tasty, but none were served hot. Lukewarm at best. Very poor service. Slow approach. Antiwan was totally inattentive. Once he brought the food, he was AWOL. No check back. No drink refills. No nothing. We had to flag him down to get a check and boxes. We had been done for over 20 minutes. Then he brought us the wrong check, and we had to flag him down again to tell him. There was a large party right next to us, and they seemed to be getting very good service from their server, so maybe we just got the wrong server. The acoustics in the restaurant were horrible. You could barely hear yourself talk. Same issue we had in the Naperville location. We probably won't be back. read more

I ordered a pizza and the stuffed squash blossoms, the food was delicious. The pizza had a nice crisp and chewy crust. You know what you're getting when you dine here from the food to the atmosphere. I have to brag about the service I received. I had to get some last min work done and was on my phone (not an ideal "work" place, but I needed wine) and the server was so accommodating. He saw when I was busy and didn't interrupt, but the second I was free he was at my table offering more wine. I wish I remembered his name, but all the receipt said is employee 160. Awesome dinner. Overall, we had a positive experience coming here for my mom's birthday. The pizzas were excellent, and the squash appetizer had a lot of unique flavors. We also benefitted from having an attentive server, who was able to manage differing requests across our table in a professional and composed way. Reason for a star reduction is it took forever for our food to come out, despite asking for our food ASAP as we had two cranky and hungry children with us. Evidently, the kitchen was so backed up that they couldn't manage order flow. Further, they ran out of some dishes, like the eggplant Parmesan, by 7 pm! Not a knock on our server at all - she pushed for us and ultimately got our food out quickly after sharing the update, and she didn't have any control on inventory, but just made for a downer on the dining experience. We're willing to come back though as there were some items on the menu we want to try out, especially given the out of stock. read more

We had an out of town guest visit us for the week and we wanted to take her to a one of kind (In the United States) restaurant, so we took her to Piccolo Buco in Oakbrook, IL. There are only 2 restaurants of the kind, the original is in Rome and the other is in Illinois. You'll have to read how the founder of Cooper's Hawk Tim McEnery collaborated with Chef Luca Issa to bring his Neapolitan Pizza to Illinois. Making reservations online was easy! We were able to enter notes regarding allergies for our son. When we arrived we were seated immediately and the server provided water and took drink orders. He also mentioned that he is aware that there are food allergies for one of us. He was great at explaining their process and gave us choices, in addition he said he would double check with the chef to ensure the ingredients. Also, that they can make modifications if needed. The atmosphere was lively and the restaurant is well lit. Tables were spaced out nicely and had a nice open floor. Now let's talk about the food and drink! The start off. - we ordered an Espresso Classico Martini and the Frozen Bellini Sangria. The martini had a perfect blend of vanilla vodka and espresso. The Bellini was refreshing and included the Cooper's Hawk Rose. And as an appetizer, the Meat and Cheese that had prosciutto di Parma, stracciatella, whipped ricotta, tomato confit, salami, arugula, olives, Parmesan and roasted ciabatta. We tried the Crispy Stuffed Squash Blossoms which was stuffed with cheese and laid on top of lemon aioli and tomato fondue. The table ordered the following dishes: Gluten-Free Fettuccine in creamy Alfredo sauce., which was rich and buttery, Truffle Fondue Cappellacci which is contained black truffle brown butter with some honey, pistachios, balasmic. The cappellacci was perfectly cooked, the truffle was no over bearing and the Parmesan and basil balanced the dish nicely. Another dish ordered was the Mezzi Rigatoni Alla Vodka, made with Italian Sausage, drenched in a vodka cream, basil and Parmesan. Now for the main event: The Pizzas! We ordered the following: Classic Red Charred Pepperoni and the White Fungo. Their pizza sauce is Red, Yellow or White sauce. The Fungo was topped with wild mushrooms, black garlic, Parmesan fonduta, basil and white truffle oil. I really loved the dough! The crust was fluffy and had the right amount of chewiness. Overall, the food was good! The service was great! Dining here makes me want to go visit Italy! I love Piccolo Buco! It's so different from Cooper's Hawk except for the wine of course. It's in Oak Brook mall so that can be a hassle sometimes finding parking. I try to go for lunch or happy hour to avoid the weekend mall crowd. The food is more like northern Italian. Lighter, fresher dishes than you would find at a typical Italian restaurant. The Calabrian shrimp pasta is one of my favorites, spicy and well balanced flavors. I also love the (fungho) mushroom pizza. If you're a mushroom lover then this is the pizza for you. All pizzas are cooked fresh so if you want modifications they are happy to accommodate. My favorite waitress/bartender is Kandy she's the absolute best, warm and welcoming. We shared the Sangria Mango Dragonfruit. A little sweet but it is served chill, which is great to have during the summer heat. We started out with crisp calamari, which isn't fried all the way through like other restaurants. You actually do taste the edible squid. Next we shared the stuff squash blossom. They are tiny and crispy, very light and flavors are delicious. We had a large group, so we were only able to have one piece. Main course we shared the spicy pepperoni pizza. The pepperoni had some spice and the ricotta helped tame the heat. The basil are very fresh. The spaghetti carbonara was my favorite. Just had the right amount of Parmesan and was creamy. Last dish we had the truffle fondue cappellacci and asked to add chicken. Each bite was just heaven. Pasta was soft and just melted in your mouth with buttery, sweet, and a hint of savory flavor from the balsamic, For dessert we shared the tiramisu and the chocolate hazelnut cake. The tiramisu was light. They provided a citrus sauce that you can pour on top and gave it more of a summer taste. The chocolate hazelnut cake is more dense and rich, so very filling. read more

Piccolo Buco was a complete disappointment. We arrived at 6:30 and were seated right away. Our server came by twice quickly, while we were still getting settled, but then vanished. We finally placed our order, and the apps (calamari and squash blossoms) were great. Sadly, that was the high point of the night. After that, our server was MIA. No check-ins, no updates. At 7:40, she reappeared to drop off one pizza and said the rest was "coming right out." Our entrees didn't show up until 7:50, almost 90 minutes after we arrived and by then, we saw multiple tables who came in after us get their food first. My dish was supposed to be mezzi rigatoni alla vodka with sausage. What showed up looked like spaghetti. When I asked, the server casually said they "must have substituted the pasta." No apology. No warning. I asked about the sausage and dug around the pasta, there wasn't any. She offered a new entree if I wanted but I wasn't going to wait again so I asked for my sausage. She said she needed to check with her manager, then came back and said her manager would be bringing it out. Great... except no manager ever showed. Instead, she returned with a sad little bowl of sausage bits that looked like an afterthought. We asked for a water refill and never got it. No updates. No accountability. No effort to make things right. Just indifference from the server and complete absence from management. Food isn't worth it when the service is this bad. Won't be back, and I won't be recommending Piccolo Buco to anyone. read more

We tried this new-to-us restaurant last night. Piccolo Buca is a restaurant by Cooper's Hawk. I have to say the food was amazing and I like Piccolo much better than Coooer's Hawk. The wine, though, is just meh. My husband tried two wines and sent them back and ended up with an old fashioned, which was very good. My glass of rosé was just okay. Next time I'll go the cocktail route or try one of their frozen sangrias. I was never into the wine made by Cooper's Hawk. Give me a Davis Estates or a Sineann wine any day. The restaurant itself is large with a small outdoor seating area by the parking lot. There's a nice bar area when you walk in. True to Cooper's Hawk restaurants, there's wine and gifts to purchase when you enter the restaurant. It's a very noisy restaurant; however I was able to hear my husband across the table. Our server was Maria and she was a delight. Engaging and friendly, she provided good service. Now for the best part...the food. We started out with the crispy stuffed squash blossoms, which were phenomenal. The blossoms had a great crispiness on the outside with a creamy cheesy center. I recently went to Martha Stewart's Vegas restaurant and her squash blossoms couldn't even compare. Piccolo's was the best I've ever eaten. Next we shared a charred pepperoni pizza. That crust had a great char (as did the pepperoni) with a puffy airy edge. Perfect Neapolitan style. The last thing we shared was the mezzo rigatoni à la vodka. The rigatoni was cooked to the right tenderness and the vodka sauce was light, yet creamy. We came late afternoon on a Wednesday and enjoyed great service, happy hour specials, and a lovely wine tasting experience. For my fellow wine club members, know that they do 4 pours versus 6 but they're a little larger to compensate. You can use your monthly tastings here and pick up bottles. There are even a few exclusive bottles only available at Piccolo Buco. The pepperoni pizza is a great option for your happy hour special while you go through your wine tasting. Highly, HIGHLY recommend following that up with the truffle fondue pasta dish before you head out. It's fantastic! We use our pizza crust to clean the plate. read more

Went in to grab a drink. Busy place, but it was a Saturday night so to be expected. All seats at the bar were taken, apparently by others waiting for a table but some were eating at the bar so menu service must be available (making seats harder to come by). Nice atmosphere, friendly server. But my issue was that there were no non-alcoholic items listed on the menu. Now I get it, I'm in a bar, but I don't think it's out of the question that if a group of friends go out that someone might not drink or *gasp* the designated driver. So it'd be nice to be included in the mix. I did ask and the bartender apologized and said they only had flavored lemonades. But when it came she put it in a wine glass with garnish so it at least looked like a "drink". But I think a chain like Cooper's Hawk should do more to acknowledge the NA audience. read more

The table was set up for 3 adults and one baby. When we asked for a new table, they pushed another table to make it a table of 6. So they were very accommodating to our needs. The menu is very clear to understand and all the ingredients are listed. My group decided to go with one salad, two pizza, and one pasta. It was the perfect amount for us. We went with the chopped salad, the 'nudja and the charred pepperoni. For the pasta, we decided on truffle fondue cappellacci and added chicken. All the food was delightful and we finished every bite. The freshness of the salad, the charred and sweet taste of the pepperoni pizza paired so well with the savory truffle fondue pasta. Our waitress made sure to stop by our table to see if everything was alright and also made sure our table had sufficient water. This is a great place for lunch/dinner. They have enough room for large groups as well. We also had a little surprise as we were celebrating our friend's birthday. They bought out a mini vanilla gelato with a piece of pistachio bread! I'm sorry we went there. Had 6:30 reservations, we were seated at 7:10. The service was terrible. We ordered dinner and 10 minutes later the server came to our table and said half the stuff we ordered was out for the evening. We ordered 2 appetizers and they came 15 minutes apart. The prices are kind of high for what you get. I's not worth the price. I would not go back to this place or recommend it to anyone. read more

Wow, what a let down. My first visit here back in December was great, my wife and I have been looking forward to going back. This time it was one disappointment after another. Our waiter was terrible, brings our drinks with no straws. He returns a few minutes later to take our appetizer order and we request some straws, he says he will be right back with straws. Nope 10 minutes pass and we have to waive down the manager or hostess to request straws. Our salad and meatballs appetizers took forever, people sitting around us who got seated after us had received their appetizers. Our waiter was nowhere to be found. Finally the manager ( I think she was a manager) could tell something wasn't right and asked us if we needed anything, and we told her we were just waiting for appetizers but had not seen our waiter in a while. She went back and grabbed out appetizers. They must have been sitting there a while because our meatballs were not even warm. Again waiter disappeared and I had to waive down the manager again to request a new order of meatballs. Now, I'm about two bites into my meatball appetizer when our entrees show up. We waited 20 minutes for appetizers but they managed to make our entrees in under 10 minutes. Food quality was not as good as last time, the chicken parm was rubbery and fatty. Meatballs were still delicious once they brought out the hot fresh ones. Oh and as for the bathrooms, remember my first review when I said they had no hand soap in the bathroom? Well they were out of paper towels in both the men's and ladies restrooms today(see photos). I recently saw they are building a new Piccolo Buco a couple miles from my house in Naperville, I was very excited about that but after today's experience I'm not sure I'll even go to the new location. read more

Met a friend for dinner here and like that you can make reservations. It is nice and airy inside, with friendly staff. We were seated right away, despite arriving early for our rez. Our server was very sweet. We ordered the stuffed squash appetizer which was very good. My friend ordered pasta, I ordered the Margherita pizza - both were delicious. We opted in for dessert and did their seasonal dessert which was some sort of apple item with vanilla ice cream. It was scrumptious. We had a lovely dinner from start to finish, I will definitely return when I am back in the area for work. read more
