The meal started off on a high note. The complimentary bread was served hot with a perfectly soft interior and a delicious crusty exterior. We also ordered the arancini as an appetizer. The tomato sauce was flavorful, and the shaved Parmesan and arugula complemented the dish beautifully. Unfortunately, the arancini themselves were disappointing, as the coating was much too thick compared to the small amount of rice filling inside. For our entrées, my husband ordered the Chicken Parmigiana. The chicken was unfortunately very dry and overly salted. I chose the pappardelle with short rib ragù. The fresh pasta was excellent--perfectly made with a wonderful texture--but the ragù was also overly salted, which overshadowed what could have been a great dish. One of the highlights of our evening was the service. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service throughout our meal. The hostess, who may have been the owner, also stopped by our table to check on us, which we appreciated. Overall, this certainly wasn't the worst Italian restaurant we've visited, and there were several things we enjoyed. We were greeted and seated promptly for our dinner reservations. The place is neat and has a nice vibe. Our server took our drink orders and gave us bread service. For this visit, I've tried: CALAMARI, CHICKEN MARSALA, RIGATONI BARAGIANO, and PENNE ABBRUZZESSE. All of the dishes we ordered were flavorful, tasty, and a little on the heavy side. We had a lot of leftovers since the portions were big. For cocktails, we had a FRENCH MARTINI and a NEGRONI. They were STRONG and delicious. Parking is easy, the place is clean, and the food was good. The service was not consistent though. Our entrees took a long time to be served. Our server was attentive when we started, but we he was MIA after getting our orders in. We tried to get his attention to follow up on our food, but it seemed like he was actually trying to avoid our table (knowing that our food was taking a long time). I've had the same waiter each time and he was less attentive as the night went on, both times. I ate at the bar by myself on the weekend. While it has simpler decor is well furnished. I was comfortable at the bar and the bartender was friendly and helpful. For a cocktail I got the tiramisu martini, wow was that good. I should have had someone with me who could drive so I could drink like 4 more. For my dinner I got a pork special which was a thin piece of breaded pork with peppers in a Marsala sauce with large potato quarters. The potatoes were decent but not exceptional. I went to Positano's with my sister and cousins for a girls night dinner. It was my first visit to this restaurant at either of its locations. The Oak Brook location is an aesthetically pleasing space with a large dining area and also an outdoor space. Junior was our server and provided good service and was friendly. The four of us started with wine and cocktails. We decided not to order any appetizers and went straight for the entrées. My cousin had the rigatoni vodka which was fabulous. I asked her for a taste because it looked so good. My sister had the crabcakes appetizer which she thoroughly enjoyed, and my other cousin had a chicken and pasta dish. I had the cavatelli alla nonna for dinner. Positano makes all their pastas in house and they're perfectly prepared. The rich tomato sauce on my cavatelli was delicious. We ordered a limoncello cheesecake for the four of us to split at the end of the meal. It was good but very dense. I like a creamier texture cheesecake. I would definitely come back to this restaurant. The menu is extensive and there's a lot of items that I saw that I would want to try. Okay, friends. This joint knows what they're doing. Positano Ristorante's food was top-notch. Fresh and flavorful. When we arrived, we were greeted by no fewer than three(!) men at the host stand. Though we didn't have reservations on a Friday night, they managed to find us a table on their heated patio. When you're seated, you're presented with fresh (yes) hot (yes!) bread (yes!!!). It tasted like it was made in-house. Five stars for the attention to detail. I ordered the Pollo Vesuvio and it was a slam-dunk success. The sauce was bright and slightly acidic. The potatoes were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned. Suburban dining can be hit or miss, but Positano is a certifiable Italian bullseye. read more

The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff are so kind and helpful (despite a severe and stressful storm outside). For appetizers this is a non-negotiable-- you need to order the calamari. I'm so glad the waitress recommended we get half of it grilled because that was the highlight of the meal for me. We got ravioli and a spicy eggplant rigatoni dish, both were phenomenal and had fresh mozzarella crumbled on top. Towards the end of our dinner, the storm intensified with more lightening and soon after every phone in the restaurant received an emergency alert with tornado sirens blaring outside. Wine prices were good and we had a bottle of the Italian interesting white but I can't remember r the name. Either way would recommend and we would go again the next time we come to Lombord. Friends and I went on a Friday night, with a reservation of course. We were seated right away on our scheduled time, and service was prompt and friendly. Our waiter was experienced and had a lot of knowledge of the food and drinks. He was able to answer our questions and provide us with feedback that we could use to make our selection. The food was quick and service was prompt. We had a larger party, and that did not seem to affect the waiter, which is great. What I tried: Calamari Chilean Sea Bass Apple Crostata Old Fashioned The star of the show was the Apple Crostata! It wasn't overly sweet, the Carmel and apple were so good! The dough didn't taste refrigerated which is always something I can always pick up on. I loved the Chilean Seabass, but did have to add additional salt and pepper and I added some grated Parmesan cheese as well; it was perfect after that. Also, the red pasta wasn't spicy! Our waitress was so sweet and professional. She spoke highly of the food, and I could tell that her suggestions and opinions came from a genuine place, and not just because she worked there. Words can really describe how happy I am to have gone here. The menu is a bit deceiving for us gluten free folks, it says gluten free pasta available upon request but I am happy to report they can make almost the whole menu aside from pizza - gluten free! When I say I almost cried hearing this - it is the truth. We started with gluten free bruschetta and bread for the table. Plus caprese. DELICOUS. We had a wonderful dinner tonight!! We had delicious Grilled Calamari which was quite substantial. This was a generous portion and sooooo good! Our server was a young man, named, Max!! Definitely on his A game tonight, thorough, he checked with the chef about my gluten allergies and described the special dishes of the night with great enthusiasm. I had the Chilean Seabass that had an Avocado topping and Asparagus on the side. Definitely a combination of delicate sweetness of the Seabass with a slightly salty and crispness of the outside of the crust of the fish. Linguine vongole - 3/5 stars Pasta cooked perfectly al dente, but it definitelyyy needed some salt/seasoning. V and I were celebrating my birthday and selected Positano Ristorante based on reviews and ambiance. I'm happy to report, that the restaurant was a hit on all points. Regarding the ambiance, it's a busy restaurant, yet felt cozy in a way, and the individual table lamps added a nice touch. We had reservations for Friday at 7:30, we arrived at 7:38 and found four couples/groups ahead of us. It took at most 15 minutes to be seated. It was interesting to note that anyone without reservations was being told they'd have to wait until those with reservations were seated, as it should be. We did have the option of sitting immediately in their heated outdoor space but opted to wait. Once seated, warm bread with tasty olive oil and grated parm arrived, and soon after our waiter. Throughout our visit, the waiter was attentive and helpful. One couldn't ask for more. We started with chocolate martinis which were not only tasty but contained clearly alcohol. Sometimes you wonder, but no wondering here :) We ordered Grigliato Misto which is shrimp, octopus, and calamari over mixed greens. It was an excellent change from our typical selection of fried calamari. It was perfect. The proportion size would have been fine for three people, but we polished it off. For our main course, I ordered Veal Marsala while V ordered another Veal dish which I believe was a special. Both were similarly prepared, though his was a bit sweeter, mine a bit more savory. Both were a delight. The owner stopped by near the end of our meal to see how everything was. He also seated us, so it was great to see the owner involved and taking an interest in the customer experience. We had no issues with carrying on a conversation, just a matter of focusing. It started out fine, then as it got busier, our waitress disappeared. I had to physically go looking for her to get my glass of wine. Then I asked her about a veal dish and she described it wrong. It was awful. Then she left a dessert menu and never came back to take our order. Obviously the management is to blame for not enough staffing. We will never go there again. The owner responded. He wants to make it up to me. Yeah. Maybe he will give me a free cup of ice cream. I dine out a lot. I can see when a restaurant is poorly managed and apparently cuts corners.
