Bucklyn is a tiny little coffee shop in the heart of Blue Hill. The staff are kind and the drinks are tasty. Because it's a small establishment, the menu is pretty slim, but I enjoyed the maple latte, which was not too sweet (rare to find these days). Other members of our group enjoyed the hot chocolate and iced mocha.

During a recent trip to Maine, I stopped by Bucklyn Coffee for a caffeine fix and a snack on my way to Bar Harbor. I'm so happy that I made the stop, because the friendly and welcoming vibe was amazing and the coffee was also great! I ordered a maple latte, which was not overly sweet and was expertly constructed. I also ordered a cinnamon roll, which was tasty and a perfect snack! I would definitely recommend if you are in the area, and I hope I can try Bucklyn again the next time I'm in town.

Efficient, delicious coffee spot. My Americano was rich and complex and his cold brew nitro mocha was thick and dreamy.

My husband and I came here on a whim once a few years ago, and we were back in the area this week so stopped by for another coffee. This time I got the mocha latte and he has the maple latte. Both were excellent. The owner of the establishment was doing the brewing and he was very friendly and you can tell he really takes pride in his offerings. We also had an Apple fritter which was delicious too. Highly recommend. No sit down area, a walk up window. Pictured our pup Teo.

We wish we had tried the maple latte, but the Spanish latte and grapefruits shakerato was really delicious.

Title: Great vibes, fantastic drinks, but skip the unsolicited lecture…read more We're visiting Bangor for the first time and were absolutely thrilled to stumble upon this spot while walking downtown. The atmosphere is exactly what you hope for in a local coffee shop--loved the aesthetic, the crowd was friendly, and having the lounge area next door is a fantastic touch. The drinks themselves? Delicious. The person at the register clearly knows how to pull a great shot and make a beautiful beverage. However, we had a really odd interaction while ordering. Without any prompting from us, the barista launched into a strange, unsolicited lecture about whether a Café Mocha is Italian or American, speaking to us as if we had never had coffee outside of the U.S. It was especially baffling given that we've visited Italy numerous times. We didn't ask for the history lesson, and being talked down to for no reason definitely left a sour note on an otherwise lovely visit. The bottom line: Absolutely come here for the cozy space and the high-quality drinks. Just hope the person at the register decides to skip the coffee trivia and just make the amazing drinks they clearly know how to make.

We also got the raspberry lemon loaf, and two slices of that made the total over $25! Unfortunately the loaf was completely inedible. So dry I could barely swallow it. I bake quick loaves all the time at home and have never tasted one so dry. The staff were super friendly and I loved the vibe of the place but I wouldn't return.

It's been a while. I figured there would be new, and hopefully friendlier, staff. I was half right. There was new staff, but unfortunately, they were as unwelcoming as the last batch. This place has no prices on any of the premade sandwiches or pastries in their cases (why??), so we asked "Hey there, how much are your pies and cookies?". The employee was in the lobby sweeping and said "I'm not sure. Somewhere between $3- $5. Maybe more". She doesn't look up. Doesn't offer more clarity. She just shrugged this non-answer to us and carried on. It was awkward. So my husband, trying to make light of it, says "Sounds like it's up for debate so how about I give you $2.50" and this girl gives us a dour look and snaps "Well, I'm not behind the cash register so I can't look at the prices, can I?". So, we have now learned our lesson with this place twice. Not sure what it is about the culture there that results in such bad service years apart and by different people. We won't be returning.
