We were staying in Kanab, Utah and realized there were no bars in this town, so after a quick Yelp search we found this gem on HWY 89, just a little across the AZ border, about 10 minutes from Kanab. It features some good pub food, but the highlight is the AMAZING bar which is the longest bar in AZ. Seats 70+, and the bartenders are great. So if you like to eat at the bar, this is the place! Also features live music some days of the week, and has an outdoor stage for the warmer months. Great time! read more

Newly reopened! We are so happy to have a place to socialize in Southern Utah/Northern AZ area of Kanab. This historic business was originally opened in 1932. Some of the original features are still there but it closed in 2019 due to Covid which was followed by the death of its owner. New owners with vision and energy have given the Buckskin Tavern a facelift and slightly new direction as a tap house service craft beers, wine, seltzers and specialty cocktails. When we were there last we played pool on the free, quality pool tables while we listened to a duet sing and play their acoustic guitars. We were excited to see this addition to Kanab / Fredonia as there isn't much for entertainment in the area. The owners did a tremendous job remodeling, are a few pool tables and cornhole and the food truck pizza was amazing!! (Try the short rib pizza!). They were going to try doing their own food for the first time the following day so they may have more food options in the future as well. read more

Loved our stop here! We were camping in Kanab and Buckskin Tavern is just a short drive (really short) across the Utah/Arizona border. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. We really enjoyed talking with "Jersey" she made us feel comfortable and welcomed. Her service was awesome. They serve food - heard the pulled pork is amazing. It's not a huge menu but a nice selection and again reasonably priced. There's a coffee bar there as well - looked like lots of choices, Starbucks style. There were several TVs for sport watching and weekend entertainment. We will definitely stop in again when in Kanab! Oh! They are also dog friendly. read more

The other reviews are perfect, and funny. We too were in Utah and wanted to wind down after volunteering at Best Friends in Kanab, UT, so we drove across the border to Arizona! I chuckle remember thinking how funny it was that there were liquor stores just across the border. This bar was the last place to get a drink for a decent price in the area. No frills for sure. Unfortunately, my most recent drink order was about double the cost for the same drink last month. I'm not sure if prices were increased on all drinks, or what is happening here. There is no food other than some small bags of chips, but you can bring your own food. read more

I can't explain to you the pure joy of being faced with oppressive Utah liquor laws, and then defying all odds by driving a mere 7 minutes away to find Buckskin Tavern. This Dive Bar has pool tables (50 cents a game), affordable drinks, and is cash only. It is also a package store for our friends posted up in Utah. While this place is mostly locals, bartenders were great and we didn't feel like we got a judge-y vibe like you sometimes do. Would go back if I'm ever in the area again! read more

Perhaps some bottled or boxed wine? No problem, Buckaroo! They have quite a selection. They don't put on airs in this place so don't expect any of that hipster stuff. We got there around 5-ish and were greeted warmly and served attentively by the bartender. When her shift ended, she was replaced by someone who didn't give us the time of day (or ask if we needed anything). They lost a sale to the cat-pee infested border liquor store on that fumbled play. The locals here are too friendly and our first bartender too terrific to give them a low rating. It is worth a visit after a long hike or drive. read more

Buckskin Tavern was the oasis after wandering into the worst smelling (insert cat urine stank here) Liquor Store just over the AZ border from Utah. It was a slow night there but the bartender spent time talking with us, sharing her story of how she ended up in Utah from Cali and served my good friend ice cold Bud bottle and myself Grand Marnier up. The jukebox had a fab selection and another patron offered the rest of her plays to us- not sure if she enjoyed Snoop Dog but her generosity was unexpected. This place rocked. read more
