This spot is a hidden gem! Don't let anyone tell you different! The food was awesome and I enjoyed the mimosas as well. One of the few spots left where you can get unlimited mimosas and for ONLY $7! For my appetizer, I had the boudin balls, they were flavorful and delish! My entree was the chicken and jalapeño waffle. It was something different but I enjoyed the chicken tenders more than the waffle. I would definitely return because all of my friends' dishes were super good. Let's start with the waitresses! They were super friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and the moonshine options for the moonshine flights. I had the Gator Bites with ranch and a side of remoulade sauce, the bites were perfectly portioned and crispy. I would definitely recommend those! I should have gotten the fried green maters, but I'll get those next time because I will be returning. Anyway, I got the Catfish Pontchartrain as the entree over penne pasta instead of rice, it was delicious, but it needed a tad bit more salt. I visited during lunchtime, and there were probably only three other people there, although I imagine it's busier earlier in the day. The blackened catfish ponchartrainn I had was 10/10. I got the lunch portion which was still too much but was just as great warmed up as it was the fresh. Bottomless mimosas are $7 but mostly orange juice with a splash of sparkling wine. I wouldn't recommend. Dive bar feel, not super clean, nor was the service all that great despite being super slow. My friend J is from Louisiana and I lived in New Orleans for 7 years, so when J told me that the etouffee at this place was good, I couldn't wait to try it. One day in May, we decided that I'd go pick up the food and J would come over. I placed a phone order for two orders of the crawfish etouffee with fried catfish (the Atchafalaya on the menu). I was asked if I wanted to upgrade the rice to dirty rice. Never previously having had etouffee and dirty rice together (always just white rice for etouffee), I wasn't sure what to do. The person taking the order said to try one of them with dirty rice so I decided to do just that. I drove over and picked up the order. Everything was packaged very well and no etouffee was wasted in the transport. I was a little worried about the fried fish getting soggy, but it did ok considering the time it took before we dug in. I personally do not think the upgrade to dirty rice was necessary for this dish. I love me some dirty rice, but I would have been just as happy with regular old white rice. The etouffee is really good and I cleaned up my plate and the takeout container with the French bread. Trust that 60 yo family recipe! I will be back when I get that random craving for etouffee (always crawfish!). read more

I had some family in town from the east coast and decided to get them some true southern cuisine and Texas alone wouldn't get it done. Louisiana does good right and this spot did not disappoint. I opted for the crawfish étouffée which, in my opinion, is the true test of Cajun/creole cuisine. It was absolutely perfect to the point that I can't wait to get back there maybe before the end of this week (less than a week since my first visit). Everyone loved their meals from the atchafalaya, to the Cajun pasta, it was wins all around the table.
