I am very picky with bagels, but Buddy's does a solid job. I find that they're always fresh, have a nice chew, and are consistent, including across both locations. Buddy's offers a large variety of classic flavors including sesame, everything, asiago, poppy seed, salt, cinnamon raisin, and more. They also offer a number of flavored cream cheeses, bialys, sandwiches, and muffins. But my go-to order is a classic sesame seed bagel with lox cream cheese (which is made with fresh whole chunks of smoked salmon, yum). Of note, the Cattleman rd location is on the smaller size with limited indoor seating, but the store on 41 is much larger. read more

I was so excited to try Buddy's Bagels in Sarasota as I'm on the hunt for the best bagel spot. I ordered their Lox special and was shocked at the price tag - we paid $13.50/bagel, but I figured it would be worth it for a great bagel. I specifically asked for the bagel to be double toasted so they marked it as well done. Upon getting my bagel, I was shocked at how small the bagel was, how little cream cheese there was, and how untoasted the bagel was. The bagel didn't look like it had been toasted once, let alone twice. I went up to the lady to clarify to give them a chance to make things right. She said yes this is double toasted and just stared at me... if she's right that this was double toasted I think they need to check their oven settings as the bagel was cold and we ate there so I have a hard time believing it was double toasted. For the price, the size and the lack of toasting, I'm not sure that I will be back. The bagel itself was tasty but the whole order just wasn't great. I would perhaps come back just to buy the bagels themselves and make it at home. read more

Located where Lox & Egg was, next to Trader Joe's. Parking is adequate. Don't like that the overhead menu is not behind the order station. You have to cut ahead in line in order to read the menu, then back track to the register. However, ordering was efficient, and prices are agreeable. Did not have a bagel, but they get 5 starts because the Carnegie Deli sandwich was great. For an eat-in order, I did not like it served in a Styrofoam clam-shell box. It seems wasteful. It is also strange that they use cocktail napkins. read more

To start off with the bold man at the register always smells of alcohol. My first time there he straight up grabbed a bagel after rubbing his bold head several times, handled money, and with his hands (no gloves) grabbed a customers bagel.
