For the square pizza, I thought it was a little much dough. Although it was soft, the flavor seemed a little lacking. My fiancé had yet to try Buddy's Pizza ever and tonight was the night. I had the original once before at their main location and already love it. We polished off several sizes this pizza! It is well made from high-quality ingredients and the cheese! Can we talk about the cheese!! The crush is pure parmigiana perfection! It is not greasy at all and I noticed a hint of spice in the tomato sauce but I am a weakling when it comes to heat They put plenty of sauce on as well. I detest a dry pizza slice . Was eager to try some Detroit-style pizza places after moving here, and this one actually delivered on quality. It's easy for the rectangular pies to be overly greasy, but this one was not. Great crust, toppings covering the entire pizza to the edges, and the flavors were spot on. We opted for a Gourmet Veggie and then a 2-topping with pepperoni. Buddy bread was pretty solid, and the greek salad was very fresh and an extremely generous portion. Definitely like the style, and this has been the best Detroit-style pie I've had yet. So I have been here a few times since my first review. This is probably one of the most inconsistent restaurants I've been to. Sometimes the pizza is great, other times it's barely edible and cardboard-like. Last time I ordered a few ready to go slices, that I'm pretty sure were long past their expiration time. They were hard and dry and should have been tossed long before they made it out of the door. Messed up orders and mistakes I can deal with, but when a restaurant serves food that they know should not be served it is a huge deterrent for me. I simply adore the original buddy's. This location was a surprise to me when I drove by. Went in and ordered the lunch combo. Cheese slice with buddy bread and a pop. First sign this was not going to be good. No Diet Coke! Lol. They had coke, and Coke Zero. The pizza was cold. It obviously had been sitting out for a while because the box was soaked in grease and it was cold when I ate it in my car after walking out. My experience was great, I called about 15 minutes before closing time and they took my order. I was grateful because I was in town visiting and every time I come back home I make it my goal to get a Buddy's pizza. This place is great because of the pizza but sometimes the execution misses the mark. For example sometimes the pizza is undercooked or wilted, missing something like the signature crust is lacking proper cooking or something. Otherwise this pizza is the bomb. This location is inside a strip mall so it's kind of small and doesn't have beer or wine. Also, where are the little pepperoni's? They were better by far, anybody older than 30 knows what I'm talking about. Better pizza execution is at the original location on Conant in Hamtramck and a better sit down location is on 13 mile and Van Dyke. Those are closer to 5 Stars. read more

Buddy's is my favorite pizza place but I dislike this location. On Friday (9/20/19) I ordered an 8 square super add seasoned grown beef,an antipasti salad with the house dressing and a 4 piece bread stick. The pizza had entirely too much sauce on it,the salad was really wet,the dressing wasn't made properly it just tasted like oil and the bread sticks just tasted like buttery garlic. The wait is always more than what you're told,during this particular visit I had to wait an additional 25 minutes at which point I was given cold food;needless to say,that doesn't make sense. The cashier had a horrible personality and wasn't very friendly. I attempted to call and report the issue and the manager was combative opposed to offering solutions to rectify my complaints. The staff moves extremely slow and they don't put care into the food. If you're looking for the great taste of Buddy's I suggest going to a different location. I returned for hoping them to redeem themselves on 4/3/2020. My pizza was dry and burned. The manager was rude and the staff doesn't seem very capable of being efficient and professional. Customer service is about what you would expect, some days it's great other days it's average but the food quality is enough to overlook the off days. I've been coming to this buddy's for years, especially since they started offering gluten free pizza. I always give them the benefit of a doubt but every time I order a gluten free pizza they mess the order up and make a regular pizza. Im not even exaggerating, sadly. First time here; I understand from talking to others that this is a hometown favorite in Detroit, with several locations in the Metro area. I didn't get a whole pie, but rather, two slices, which I wolfed down in a hurry while sitting at one of the small tables in the place. The restaurant is quite convenient to the small Barnes and Noble that is in the same shopping/medical complex. There are other retail stores nearby, and a large fitness center, so I imagine that propinquity helps in terms of walk-in business. Maybe not so much (laughs) with the fitness center users, but certainly in regards to the shoppers at the other places. Coincidentally, this restaurant is also quite small. It's got a counter, and a few small tables, and that's about it. The pizza slices were quite good, although the service was a bit slow. And this was with only one other customer in the place, and she had already gotten her slices, and was eating those at one of the other tables. They did, however, seem to be doing a fair amount of business vis-à-vis pick-up orders, so maybe that was the reason my slices took so long to come out. But, overall, a positive experience, and I'd definitely eat here again. read more

The pizza was great, but there are a lot of great pizzas out there. I'm giving them 4 stars because the staff was so helpful. It was 5 but I took one away because it took a while to get the pie. I had never been to Buddy's before, and I don't eat pork products, so I was stressing about what to order till Xavier suggested the Margherita specialty pizza. That wasn't what my date wanted so he did a half and half (not everyone will do that with specialty pizzas). We couldn't find a coupon, but he offered one of his own that was better anyway. He gave me a good recipe for homemade Gatorade, and a free soda (I'm from the south and they are called SODAS people) for the long wait. This could have been an awkward disaster of a cheap date, but it turned out to be a pleasant cheap date and Xavier had a lot to do with the good experience. Enjoy him while you have him Buddy, try to get him to train someone before he moves on, but don't think you can keep him there. Kids like that usually rise to the top. read more

This Buddy's Pizza is a smaller version that have a few tables inside to sit at but none the less it still a Buddy's Pizzeria and you know Detroit you know Buddy's. When you order there make sure you noticed the coupon that's on the pizza box it's usually $0.75 off or more if you are order a larger Pizza they usually always have slices hot and ready as well as breadsticks and antipasto pasta salad which are absolutely amazing I always stop here when I go to Barnes Noble or Claire's with the kids it's nice to have the convenience of it being right in the neighborhood and it's a consistent flavor and the same pizza every time they always cook it perfect. read more

The manager on duty on Friday, August 10 was amazing. My husband was getting discharged from the hospital, and I wanted to get him something special so I ordered a Hawaiian pizza. Now, we just recently returned from 11 years in Austin Texas so ordering from Buddy's again is new. I forgot that their Hawaiian pizza actually has barbecue sauce on it. So disappointing when we opened the box. My husband wanted to get some red sauce and drove back to Buddy's. He returned to home 25 minutes later with an entirely new pizza. When he went in he explained to the manager what had happened, the manager informed him that nobody leaves unhappy and made us a whole new pie. They didn't have to do that. As much as I love the other Buddy's locations this has to be my new favorite. Why? The prices! You can get individual-ready made slices for 1.99 each. That's like getting a 4 square for $8! And even better are their specials. 2 slices of pizza and a pop for under $5 OR 1 slice, a side salad (which was awesome BTW) and a pop for under $5. And the pieces seem to have more cheese than a traditional Buddy's slice, so if you're a cheese lover this is a place. I love Buddy's Pizza. They are the original Detroit style pizza. My go-to is the greek pizza with greek dressing and a antipasto salad. The house dressing for the salad is simple, but it is the most amazing salad dressing I have ever had. The staff is extremely nice, respectful, and fast. The only reason they get 4 stars in stead of 5, is because this is a full Buddy's. There is a limited menu, and there is no wait staff.
