I visited Novi and I really wanted to try Detroit style pizza during my stay. Buddy's is definitely a nice spot to come in and have a beer, and stay for the pizza. It really felt like a nice pizza joint with all the decor. We were promptly seated and had some local craft beers which were great. We decided to go with a Caesar salad and the Detroiter (when in Rome). The salad was well executed, and the pizza was great. It had a crust that was crispy on the outside but softer on the inside. The toppings complimented the pizza quite well. I usually prefer thin crust pizza, but I really enjoyed the Detroiter. I'll definitely come back if I'm back in the area! Although it is not the original, this is my favorite Buddy's location. The dining room has tall ceilings and is decorated with iconic Buddy's memorabilia. My aunt, uncle, boyfriend and I are here for dinner on a Saturday night while we were in town. This was my bf 's first taste of true Detroit style pizza! This location is quite busy and they must just be cranking out the pizzas. I admit that the crust of our pizza wasn't as fully browned as it usually is: too big a hurry? Whenever we visit family in Michigan, I have to make at least one stop at Buddy's. There is nothing like this in Southern California. Been going to this location every year since 2005. We love this location. Parking is easy and plenty room for drop off of elderly relatives. The furniture is well kept and restaurant is really clean. Tables are nicely spread out. Service from the staff is always friendly despite sometimes difficult older patrons. The pizza is always good. Nice crusty edges with appropriate greased bottom. Buddy's is a multi- generational family favorite!decorated with Detroit memorabilia! This location is new but the same quality we have grown to love. The service was wonderful, wait staff are attentive, manager was so friendly and constantly making sure guests were cared for. 5 people split a medium house salad, 2 four piece pizzas, and cheese bread. Delicious meal here! I loved the pepperoni slice. Very tasty. Large square pieces. For 5 adults and 2 kids, we did 2 medium salads and 2 8-piece pizzas. Perfect amount. The salads were really really good. The Greek and house salad, I can't pick a favorite. Great dressings and accompany the pizzas well. I have always enjoyed this space, large, lively and a lot of Buddy's and Detroit-centered decor! We enjoyed a couple of cheesy, tasty pizzas, the loaded fries and the fried mushrooms! All really good! All high caliber food! The pizza is more than a pizza, it's a deep, spiced up treat with great toppings, all baked to crispy and chewy in the traditional Detroit-style way. IYKYK! We also have had really reliable, friendly and efficient service the past several times visiting this location. I love the Livonia location as well. Popped in to get a soup on this cold winter day. It has been years since I've had Buddy's minestrone soup, but it's always been one of my favs. What I'm eating is NOT Buddy's classic minestrone soup! No longer smooth, creamy and flavorful. It tastes like any other restaurant, acidic broth with vegetables, kinda like the Olive Garden. So disappointing. I called up there to see if they did change the recipe, and they confirmed that they did change it a few years ago. Go back, to what made it the greatest, please! Customer service was good though. Came back into town and 1 night we save for Buddy's. We got take out to the hotel. It was a long day and we just wanted to chill at the hotel. And I have to say it was not up to par. Pizza order was wrong. The salad was just ok and the dressing was just a packet of Kraft dressing. I thought it lacked the usual freshness and ingredients. We ended up getting a few dollars back for the messed up order. But it was still not up to par. After years of coming here I look forward to it and it wasn't that great more lackluster than anything. It's 5 stars because the staff seemed nice, efficient, and the place looked clean. The pizza was good and pretty much as I remembered. Even with a little wait we were in, seated, and out in an hour. I wanted to go to the original on 6 & Conant, but caught a bug on my trip out here so we stayed closer to our hotel. Went to Detroit with a goal of trying Detroit-style pizzas from various places. Of the 3 places I tried within the span of 24 hours, this was our second favorite. I ordered for pickup at the Novi location and it was easy for pickup as they had a different door for dine in vs pick up. Upon pick-up they flashed the pizza to confirm if the order was right with the customer. It was a little too quick and I didn't notice that they put the onions that I didn't want on it but it was still fairly good (I just picked out the onions and put it on the slices my partner was eating). The pizza itself was nice and crispy, more crispy throughout the entire pizza vs the crust being crispy and the body of the pizza being more of a pizza dough. All in all still pretty good and I would order again if I'm lazy to wait, call in, or travel to the one location for the other pizza places (as Buddy's has many locations throughout Detroit). read more

My total was about $24 and I only waited about 7 - 9 minutes before my pizza was ready! When I got back to my hotel it was still hot and tasted great!
