Customer Service drastically went downhill. Not sure what happened. We've use Budget Appliance Repair in the past with good results. Called repair tech Nathan M, directly since we had his cell number. Spoke with him on the phone and explained that our refrigerator was no longer blowing cold. Gave him the symptoms and he told me he thinks it's probably a compressor or computer problem. He told me he was busy the next few days and to send him a picture (text) of the model number sticker information on the inside of the refrigerator. He said he would research and get back to me. A week goes by and....Nothing. I politely text him and ask for an update. He replies back, "?", "who is this", "I don't know you". I tell him my name. Totally "bizarre behavior " He tells me that they don't fix compressors, but could possibly fix the computer, and that I should call the company to schedule. He should have said that from the get go, or on day 1 when we spoke. I've been waiting over 1 week for nothing. My 4 year old washing machine malfunctioned and stopped working. Alfredo at Budget Appliance was recommended to me. I was able to book an appointment with him on a Saturday. He showed up on time and was ready to help solve my problem. The error message suggested a new part was needed and it had to be ordered from the mainland. We both were bummed out that the machine wouldn't be fixed until the part arrived, one month later. When it came in Alfredo returned and we were hopeful that everything would be fixed. Unfortunately, we continued to get the error message. Alfredo opened up the machine and investigated what else might be causing the error message. The machine was in excellent shape; Alfredo concluded that the motherboard most likely needed to be replaced. He was very honest and told me the price and that he couldn't guarantee it would fix the issue. He recommended that I shop around for a new machine. I was totally bummed, as my machine was only 4 years old, but I appreciated his honest opinion and ultimately agreed with him. He didn't charge anything additional (for the 2nd service call) since he wasn't able to remedy the issue. Alfredo was wonderful and I will definitely reach out to him, if needed, in the future. I've used this company several times in the last few years for problems with dishwashers and refrigerators. This last visit was for a 2 year old Maytag dishwasher that stopped draining and gave error codes. Technician, Robert, was awesome, he troubleshooted the issue and explained what the issues could be. He researched the issues reported on my particular dishwasher model. We chose to fix the least expensive way by replacing the drain pump and the dishwasher is working well. read more

I was able to schedule an appointment within a couple of days with one phone call. Nathan arrived on time and worked on our old washer for a quite a while. It's roughly 9 years old and Nathan found the issue, advised us it was going to be an expensive repair, and one of the parts was not on island. While we were thinking about it, he noted the transmission was making noises and gently lead us to deciding against fixing it. What really impressed me though was he spent more time AFTER the diagnosis leveling the unit several times, then found another cause of all the noises the machine was making and fixed that too. The unit is now running smoother and quieter than it has in years. Now we can take our time looking for a replacement. The $95 service fee was well worth it. We're really glad we called Budget. My service man Isaiah was in the neighborhood and was done early with his previous job so he phoned to ask if he could come. I said "of course" and he was over in minutes. Super polite, friendly and he knew a lot! Not only did he clean out a tube, he asked me what soap I was using, because my drain had lots of soap residue mixed in with "old pipe" dirt. He showed me how much soap to properly use, how to clean the drain pipe with a wrench myself next time, how to use the "afresh" cleansing cycle for just basic cleaning of the appliance every 6 month, and finally not to use the light or extra heavy buttons because of the unique stress it puts on the system when used ALL THE TIME on behalf of how the water and equipment work together. I had been having issues with my dishwasher and clothes dryer that I had been dealing with for too long. The property management company that I rent from uses Budget Appliance Repair, and they were very timely in setting up an appt only a few days after I received an email from them and contacted them. On the day of the appt., Isaiah (the repair tech) arrived promptly, fixed the dryer issue within 10 mins., and determined the issue with the dishwasher and notified the property manager. My refrigerator was not working for a couple of days when I called Budget. They told me a technician could come out in 9 days. This was sooner than other companies I contacted. I contacted them later when another refrigerator was not working. They agreed to have their technician look st that, too, which turned out to not be needed. Isiah called 10 minutesy before coming. He was friendly, efficient, and diagnosed the problem quickly. He replaced the broken fan and explained to me what signs to look for to determine if the fan was not working or other problems I may encounter. It took less than an hour. Honolulu, HI- Budget Appliance Repair In Honolulu has a great employee named Isaiah. He has been to my house several times. He replaced my fridge's broken ice maker and also the cracked coiled burner beneath my glass topped GE stove (no easy task to locate the right parts and to install) and each time he demonstrated keen smarts and intuition about appliances and was able to quickly locate the parts and diagnose the problem, saving me time and angst. He always gave me quick information about pricing too. I suspect that he has been working on mechanical equipment since a young age. He is also very courteous and has a good work ethic. I called Budget yesterday, spoke to customer service and requested Isaiah. This morning he contacted me about my broken oven, which has not worked since a transformer exploded nearby. He was able to quickly figure out the problem via text messages, and has ordered control panel parts for me, and once they arrive he will take care of the diagnostic visit and parts installation in one visit! How cool is that! Btw, he texted me the listings from Reliable Parts.net, for control panel parts for my particular GE model at the local warehouses and I saw that the parts are on backorder with all of these places, and that it will take several weeks to be received on island. I know that due to the pandemic there has been a shortage of a lot of appliance parts in all the stores, so it is not Budget Appliance's fault. I know that I can live without an oven for a number of weeks, as I have alternate cooking methods, so it makes sense in this case to wait. Getting appliances repaired is already stressful enough, one is inclined to dispense with repairs and simply buy new stuff. BUT IN THIS DAY AND AGE WITH THE STRUGGLING ECONOMY, INFLATION AND CLIMATE CHANGE, I BELIEVE IN REPAIRING WHAT ONE ALREADY HAS SO LONG AS THE REPAIR CAN BE DONE BY A COMPETENT INDIVIDUAL AND SO LONG AS IT MAKES SENSE. SO DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR OLD APPLIANCES, INSTEAD FIND THE RIGHT REPAIR COMPANY, I.E. BUDGET APPLIANCE REPAIR and try to work with what you have. I was lucky to get a service repair the same day for my Whirlpool Duet gas dryer. Robert was my service technician, he services Aiea to Makaha, the West side of Oahu. I had called another repair company and was told it was the control board and they couldn't repair it, due to part no longer available. They charge $55 to diagnose the problem and if they repair it, then they waive the $55 diagnosis charge and just charge you for the repair work. I thought I had a leaking washer, but he quickly figured out that I had a clogged drain!!!..he was very helpful with suggestions and recommendations so it was worth it to have him come by. We had a 1,5 yr-Kenmore refrigerator having noise issue. They charged $99 for the checkup trip. It is pretty reasonable compared to Sears service, but don't be dazzled by their cheap price. We are very disappointed about their service. The repair guy named Isaiah said the fan needed replacement. This company does not stock this replacement part, and he said it took 3 weeks to get the new fan ordered from mainland. We waited 5 weeks, nobody called from the company, neither from Isaiah for any update. Then both my husband and me called and texted. Got a female staff returned our call the day after. Guess what she said. The fan will be delivered in 3-4 weeks. Can anyone leave with the fridge noise with possible food rotten for almost 2 months? We've finally bought a new refrigerator. 10 thumbs up for Budget Appliance Repair if I had 10 thumbs! I had an icemaker that has been broken for months and when my washing machine broke last Saturday, I decided to just call Sears and have them come out and fix both at one time. They wanted to charge me $109/appliance with a small discount for the 2nd one...just to diagnose the problem! I thought I didn't have much choice. Problem? The earliest date they could give me was almost 2 weeks out and that was unacceptable not being able to wash clothes at home for that long. I called Budget Appliance and they were able to send Alfredo out in TWO DAYS! He even arrived 1/2 hour earlier than scheduled, was able to diagnose the issue with my washing machine within probably 30 seconds (no joke) and efficiently fixed it, then proceeded to my icemaker. He worked on the icemaker and asked me to keep an eye on it for 3 days as there was a possibility one more part might need to be changed but it was expensive and maybe not needed. It's been perfectly making ice without any issue. In this day and age where companies are out to make money, I found it refreshing that I was not ripped off by paying for a part that may not have been needed. It tells a LOT about their integrity. I have nothing but praise for Budget Appliance Repair. The values they show are exemplified in their employees. Alfredo was warm, courteous, professional and honest and I could tell he loved what he did. His face exuded this. Thank you for your excellent work! In the process of selling our home and found our washer had a leak that needed to be fixed. Found this company online and called to set up an appointment. Scheduling the appointment and from the time I called till when they came out we received excellent service. Wendell was our tech and he was on time and showed us the problem. No issues there. The reason for my low stars review is because their price for the home visit advertised online versus what they told me on the phone (significant difference - 1 star). That wasn't my real issue though. The issue is that we needed paperwork stating the issue and that it was fixed. I contacted the company 4 times via phone calls, email and text as they have a message stating text message is the way for faster service. I did not receive a reply email or text and each call I was told the email was sent. One rep said they had the wrong email and fixed the issue but still no receipt. Normally this wouldn't be an issue but since we are in the process of selling our home time is of the essence. Overall, they did complete the service within a great time frame and the the representative that came to our home did a great job. It was the aftercare of that led to low rating. read more
