Under Lowe's extended warranty representatives of Oahu Appliance Repair Service were sent out to fix my leaking washing machine. The repair person opened the front load washing machine, stated a pipe needed replacing and he would depart to obtain the pipe and call back the same day to update. Not only did they not call back, but they broke something in the machine such that it won't run. After 7 phone messages to the repair service, 6 calls to Lowes service plus, nobody has contacted me in 3 weeks. Under these circumstances, would I recommend anyone use Oahu Appliance Repair Service in the future? read more

I was so grateful for Quang - I failed to mention a special detail about how my stacked dryer was situated (requiring an extra set of hands to access it) and he so graciously rescheduled quickly without any attitude and fixed my dryer promptly upon returning with help. I needed an appliance repairman and my contractor gave me Quang number. Quang came the very next day and repaired my dishwasher. Lowes warranty (Assurant) will tell you they messaged him to call you - but he wont. The third number is Quang's - so here it is for those of you looking to try to actually speak to him (808) 372-7253. I have a warranty under Lowes for my 2 year old refrigerator. It stopped working, starting oozing something that caused skin burns and headaches. I emptied it out, unplugged it, moved it as best as I could, and waited for Quang. Quang comes to our house, opens the back - and I mean that is it - he just opened the back panel - and tells me 'i dont know what's wrong with it.' Does not plug the refrigerator in!!! - not ONE time. So OF COURSE he doesnt know what's wrong with it - he didnt even bother to turn the damn thing on!!! I check back in with Lowes Warranty and he has submitted in his report that there is nothing wrong with my refrigerator. Lowe's extended warranty service scheduled a repair f our oven and the company never showed or called. Wasted my entire day. Strike 1 The second company that is not on their list was excellent. Called in for another service to our refrigerator on Monday 3/2. No communication from the service department all week. Called on Friday to follow up only to find it was pending and that nothing had been scheduled. Strike 2 Called again on Monday 3/11 and Tuesday 3/12 only to find it was still pending, but approved for the good company to service it. Again, no communication and I wouldn't have known had I not called back. Strike 3 Sadly...the abysmal quality of the extended warranty and the first/recommended service repair company match! Don't waste your time and money on the Lowe's Extended Warranty...it's horrible! I'll never buy another big ticket item from Lowe's! read more

I have a warranty under Lowe's so they sent Quang out. He showed up on time and quickly diagnosed my washer issue. He did not have the parts to fix it so he went into town to get the parts and came back later that evening to fix my washer. He went above and beyond and helped with my dryer vent. I have to update my review and unfortunately, take back my previous one in order to inform potential customers of the risk they are taking with doing business with Oahu Appliance Repair. A couple of weeks after our washer repair was completed, the washer started to make the same noises it had before the repair. I contacted the technician directly (which he had suggested we do if something came up) and received no response. I messaged the company via Yelp Messenger and did not get a reply. I have also tried numerous times to call, only to have no one pick up and not be able to leave a voicemail. Then, the past couple of times I have called the voicemail-box was full. I have been patient and had tried to be very understanding, given it was recently the holidays and whatnot. However, it seems to be very poor business protocol to not return phone calls or messages after more than 10-14 business days. I feel disgruntled and disappointed as a consumer. I had an appointment scheduled for a refrigerator repair and there was no call and no show by Oahu Appliance Repair. Wasted our entire day! I called my warranty company and asked for another company to come out instead. I've had the same problem with a different company in the past with no call no show and I did call them for an explanation and ended up having someone else come out because that company said they were under staffed. As a customer, I don't feel like it's my responsibility to chase these no call no show companies. I'll just end up having to call back for a different service company anyway. At the very least a courtesy call would be nice. Poor service, OAR!! read more

Scheduled an appointment for today 4/8/19 at 9 a.m. Received an email and a text reminder from tbem. No show. The email reminder lists a number that's I not in service Emailed an "are you still coming." Still no response Actually not surprised as communication back in October 2018 was lacking also. Michelle was very apologetic. Only contacting them again because they repaired my icemaker and it's not working again and they offer a one-year warranty. $300 repair lasted us 5 months. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt but doubting them more and more. I guess I count this a loss and not use them again. You can take a chan ce with them.. Late last year, unfortunately, the washing machine was making loud squeaky noises during the wash cycle - something was broken or in the process of breaking further. I came across Oahu Appliance Repair Service on Yelp and thought they would be able to help repair our washing machine. After messaging the business, we got a response to schedule a service appointment the next week. They were up front with an automatic charge to come out and take a look at the issue which could be applied to the full cost of the issue - no issues. The day of our service, Gary came late and only called after our scheduled time to say that he was running late - this should've been red flag #1. After showing up late, Gary came to the conclusion that we would need a new part which would take a few weeks to get here and cost an extra 300 and some change. Fine, sounded like he knew what he was talking about. Finally a month later the part came in and we scheduled another appointment. Can you guess what happened? Gary showed up late again after our scheduled time and only showed up after notifying the business that he didn't show up - red flag #2. He changed the part that day and said the noise should be gone or will go away after a few cycles. If the issue continued, he said to contact him and assured us that he can come back and fix it at no extra cost. We ran the washing machine a few times that week and the noise was slightly subdued but then it got worse and louder than ever before. We have been trying to contact this business for over a month with no success. I find this type of practice extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. I would advise those who need washing machines repaired to look elsewhere. read more

All the 5 star reviews on this yelp listing were related to the previous owner. The 1 star reviews (there are a lot of them) are related to the current owner. I doubt they're in business anymore. They probably moved back to the mainland. In any case, DO NOT call these people. Gary is 100% unreliable. He lies through his teeth. He says all kinds of stuff that make you think your situation is SO DIRE, so horrible and then he says he can help you out, leading you to believe he's the savior. But don't believe him. Not only is it nearly impossible to get him to come back to actually do the repair, but he marks up the part FOUR TIMES. So he charged us $480 for a $140 part that is a cinch to install (what I found out later from other appliance part suppliers and repair people). In the end he promised to solve all our problems, and then even when I told him I'm just worried he's not going to come back or respond to my texts and calls like he did the past two times. We were seriously out of the use of our fridge for like a month! Then what does he do--on cue, he doesn't show up when he said he would, he doesn't reply to any of my texts or calls, he just GHOSTS me. WTF? Who does that? Nobody local who would CARE about their reputation as this is a very small island. read more

Gary missed the morning window, called and promised an afternoon window and still didn't show up or respond to calls. Terrible! I'm not sure if something happened or what and how could I know when there was no call. There was also no answer when me and my mother tried to call this number several times. My mom scheduled an appointment for today to get our washer fixed and they told us they would be here at my house between 4 and 6pm. I'm waiting and by 5 there was still nobody calling me yet. At 6 I told my mother the guy hasn't called yet and so she called and so did I. No answer after several attempts and also the mailbox for their voicemail was full so no message could be left. It's just rude and unprofessional when I have an appointment set up and there's no communication at all to let me know what's going on. It's one thing to be busy and not get to the phone every now and then, but it's a completely different story when you've set up an appointment with a customer already and then nobody shows up or even calls. I'd suggest looking elsewhere for repairs otherwise you're taking a chance on them and who has time for that? read more

My washer broke down last week. I thought I'd have to buy a whole new one, but saw this company review and thought I'd try to repair it first. I called and got an appointment for the next day. I also got a call from Michelle, their secretary, who updated me that my repairman was running behind. Gary did the repair on my washer. Turned out I needed a new switch, which he had in his truck. He also tightened up something so my washer didn't shake so much during the wash. The repair itself took about 20-30 minutes. I'm not sure about other places, but a little over $200 versus buying a new washer was well worth it. Plus, it's covered by a 1-year warranty. I also appreciated Gary's advice on cleaning out the washer afterwards. Payment wise - they accept cash, credit cards, or checks. Very grateful for the quick service. It definitely gave me peace of mind that I didn't have to worry about buying a new washer around this time of year. Definitely recommend this company! read more

Our fridge was leaking on a Saturday, Cory came out on Sunday morning and fixed the problem right away at a very good price.

There's been a lot of comments regarding negative experiences. At one time we would have also posted a negative comment due to lack of Returned calls. However, just as we were giving up hope, my husband got a call from the owner apologizing profusely and saying that he was trying to clean up problems from technicians that he had to let go. Our issue was resolved soon after the call. Just this week, we had problems with our freezer. All the appliance repair companies I called could not make it out until next week! Oahu appliance repair was able to come out this morning and fixed our issue! I hope that this company will be able to gain the trust of customers again. They certainly have gained ours. read more

My washing machine broke down, and laundry was beginning to pile up. I didn't know who to call, so looked on Yelp. I left messages for several highly rated companies, but either no reply, replied too many days too late, and one was booked for the next two weeks. But, just as they say on their website, Oahu Appliance Repair contacted me within 10 minutes! Gary came over the next day, and repaired my washer. I was so happy. But, then, something happened, and I had to call him back. This was on a Saturday. I had scheduled an appointment for Monday, first thing in the morning. But, to my surprised, Gary called on Sunday, and showed up at my house, on his DAY OFF, to take a look and see what was wrong. I could not believe the customer service, for him to come on a day off. I'm not sure what he did, but he got it to work. He made sure to leave me his cell number, and it's just reassuring to know that I can call him anytime if problems arise. Have you ever tried to get same day service for a broken appliance? It is nearly impossible and I know since the I called about a half dozen of the most highly rated repair services. They either didn't answer the phone or their voice mailbox was full or they were fully booked ten days out. I had a malfunctioning refrigerator and all I could think of was all the frozen food that would have to be thrown out. Then I found Oahu Appliance Repair. The friendly voice at the other end of the line assured me that a service person could be at my house in a few hours and would be able to look at my refrigerator. And that actually happened! My refrigerator is fixed, cleaned, and happily humming away thanks to Dave who explained what he was doing and what I should do in the future to keep the fridge running (clean out the back of the condenser). I consider it a minor miracle that my machine was same day fixed and I can stop reading internet reviews on new refrigerators. (I was told I should just buy a new fridge since my GE was 10 years old and not worth fixing.) Do call these folks if you want a speedy repair. They don't have many Yelp reviews so they were not at the top of my list, but I am happy to add another five star review to their listing. read more

Like one reviewer wrote, "I don't know how they stay in business." First, when you call the main number you get a voice message saying "leave your message and we'll get back to you." The message is a female voice so that the caller thinks they actually have office staff. They apparently don't since NO ONE EVER CALLS BACK. I called my management company and they gave me Quan's cell phone. I called and he answered saying that he would call me back later that day. Never called. The next day, I called his cell several times and it always went to voicemail. So I phoned the management company hoping they could get through to him. He answered their call. Quan told them that he would try to make it later that day or the next day for sure. He would call me to schedule a time. The next day I took off a day from work and no show or calls. The management company has taken Oahu Repair off their list of vendors. A word of caution.... If you want your appliance repaired find another company. Great experience working with Oahu appliance repair, Michelle who took my call and organized everything and the repairman Paul! I'm off island and my fridge stopped working. I found out this morning and called, Paul was able to come to my house within 2 hours. The response time was unreal and above what I expected. Paul and Michelle were so easy to work with and kept in contact with me throughout the whole process. The repair was also very affordable and they made the whole thing stress free. If I could give negative stars I would! ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! On 12/5/18 scheduled an appointment for 9:00 a.m. The appt. was rescheduled to 11:00. No problem. Gary called at 12:45 to say he was finishing up another job and he would come right away. He did not show up until 3:00. Fine, not a big deal. At least he came. We paid $167 for servicing our refrigerator. Then he insisted to replace the water line, which I'm pretty sure was perfectly fine. Okay fine, you're the expert, go ahead and fix that too. Another $125 charge. 12/6/18 refrigerator still not working properly, not cold at all. Texted and called Gary. No response. On 12/7/18 he finally texted at 8:00 a.m. and said he will come by 12. He came at 10:00 a.m., which was great. He said he was "100%" sure the circuit board was the problem and he guaranteed that would solve the prob., and if not he would continue to fix it until it was working properly. Okay, fine, do the repair. Another $366 charge to replace the board. 12/8/18 still not working properly. fridge/freezer not cold at all. Texted him at his personal number he provided. No response. 12/9/18 texted and called him numerous times. No response. 12/10/18 - He responded and scheduled an appointment for 12/11/18 between 12 - 3. He did not show up at all, no response to numerous texts and calls. Mind you we took off of work for the appointment. He finally responded at 7:00 p.m. that night and scheduled an appt. for 12/12/18. He never showed up to that appointment. No calls from him, and no response at all to our calls and text messages. Refrigerator still broken. No shows to 2 scheduled appointments, for which we missed 2 days of work. No response to text message requesting a refund of the $366 charge for the circuit board, which he guaranteed was the problem. Absolutely horrible. read more

We used Oahu Appliance (OA) as directed by Lowe's for extended warranty service on our LG refrigerator/freezer. Lowe's set up an appointment with OA for 2 days later, between 8 AM and 4 PM, and said OA would call to confirm the time. We waited all day for the call that never came. After 4 PM, we called the OA office and got their answering machine, and left a message requesting a return call to reschedule. By next day, there was no return call. We have gone back to Lowe's with this complaint. read more

If I could give a zero star, I would. I paid $83 for an estimate/assessment appointment for a broken refrigerator. A technician came that night. I agreed to hire them for the repair job. Which would mean the the $83 would then be applied to the cost of service. Technician called once to say he was ordering parts and after that I never heard from them again. Phone calls and messages to the business went unanswered. This is despite that fact that I was told the refrigerator had an electrical short that could seriously harm us and we were instructed to wear rubber slippers and gloves opening the fridge.
