Might be able to see it a little better here because of the reflection
    Jeff S.

When I first arrived and pull into the lot, I found that there was only one parking space left. They must have a lot of business! I walked inside and there was a comfortable enough waiting room between a couple receptionist spaces. There was also a window that allowed people to see into the shop where they were doing their work. As should probably be expected, there were fumes in the air from the paint. They had three vehicles in the shop. One was an old pick up truck that someone had fixed up and it was getting a brand new paint job with some 70's-type yellow, red, and blue striping on the side. It looked very nice. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, and after waiting for a moment, the guy asked me what I needed. I let him know that I had called ahead and requested that they look at my RAV4 Hybrid. I wanted him to either give me an estimate or tell me if it's something that they could just do right then... (Previously, I had tried calling three different MAACO's, and each MAACO didn't have an adjuster available... I don't know why they needed an adjuster. However, they said that their adjusters do their estimates.) Here, the guy said, let's go out and take a look at the vehicle to see what it looks like. I took him out to my RAV4 and showed him the area that I was inquiring about. I told him upfront: "Normally, I wouldn't be getting this kind of minor damage repaired. However, another car had hit me, so insurance said that they would pay for it if it needs to be done." Other places had told me over the phone, based on my description, it could be a scratch deep into the paint or that it might be a light scratch, and either way the whole door would have to be repainted. My thoughts were that it was just a scuff that could be buffed out with some form of polish. I'm not very familiar with polishing cars. I don't... I have never... I mean I'm not a car aficionado. I've never polished a car in my life. He looked at the minor damage, and he confirmed what I was thinking: it's something that needs to be buffed out with some polish. He said this would not require really heavy polishing, "You just need a fine polish." He also said that his shop does not do that kind of thing unless they're doing some other job and that can be done along with it. So, I did not get the work done here and I can't really talk or speak to the quality of their actual work aside from what I saw in the shop. It did look good, but I didn't see the starting canvas... All I could see was the finished product. However, I was happy with the fact that he was willing to take the time to look and give me advice on what to do. He also mentioned that (after I asked if he had any recommendations for someone that could do the work, that he didn't know anyone that actually did such minor policy work. So, if you have a minor scuff of this kind (you can look at my pictures) you should be looking for some polish to do it yourself. He also gave me an estimate on the hood... I have several rock chips on the hood and I do have a paint pen from my dealership that matches the paint, so I can touch it up. However, it still doesn't look very good in the end. So, eventually, I will probably be getting the hood painted. He told me that if a hood gets painted, on its own, it's around $600. However, he said it's difficult because it has to be matched to the paint on either side of the hood- and in my case: the paint is a unique color, so it would be even more difficult to blend or match the paint. In the end, the guy was helpful, courteous, and willing to give ballparks (I've asked other people for ballpark estimates before, and most people don't care to give you a ballpark anymore - I really don't know what that's about). Note: The first question he had, for me was whether or not my vehicle was a fleet vehicle. So, I would assume that they do fleet jobs. All in all, I would recommend this business simply because it seems like working with the staff here would be really easy and would not grate on your nerves like I've seen with (kind of a lot of) other people at lot of other businesses. Give them a shot! Check out some of the other reviews, because that's the reason I chose to check them out in the first place!

Ask the Community - Budget Auto Painting

Do you paint cars. 2003 Subaru?

They told me that they primarily work on "industry cars", but they also said that if you need a whole car painted, they could fit it in.

The Dealer wanted 1,500 and Good Year wanted $1,200. I checked a couple of auto part stores and I could buy a catalytic converter for $120. I didn't understand why they were charging so much at the national repair chains. My research said it was a simple install job that would take less than an hour. I found Acapulco's Mufflers & Auto on they web and they said I could bring my own part and they would install it for $50. They also offered to sell me the part and install it for $180. That the option I took. They had me in and out in forty minutes and did a great job.

The muffler I bought from there has not given me any problems so far. The second time I went there was to get my alternator replaced. I had bought the alternator from Auto Zone and they replaced it for 1/3 the repair price that Pep Boys would have charged. They got the repair done in about an hour and it's great. I highly recommend this place, the service is great and the staff is amazing. The only problem that one may have is that the staff does not speak English that well, but I haven't had any other problems.

The Jeep passed Emission Testing a week later (yeah!) and is running well. We still "heard a noise" and brought it back for another inspection. The Wright Team inspected the Jeep and determined that an inexpensive repair by the former owner (strut assembly) was causing the noise. They determined it was not a safety issue and advised we could wait, or repair. I appreciated their honesty as my goal is to provide my youngest daughter with a safe vehicle to use in College. Wright could easily have told me "it's a safety issue" and I would have paid for the repair but they were honest, and they have earned my business for many, many years. If you need an honest and very capable repair shop, THIS is the place.

When I was shopping for a car, I brought a vehicle in for a general inspection. I scheduled the day beforehand, and although I was advised that it would be better to bring the vehicle in first thing in the morning, I was unable to do so because I couldn't get ahold of it until noon. I made the receptionist aware of this, and he scheduled my appointment for the afternoon. I brought the vehicle in at the agreed time the following day and called an hour and a half later for a simple ETA on the inspection. I was not rude or aggressive in any way, yet the owner David took it upon himself to rudely tell me that he had not looked at it, would get to it when he could, and that this wouldn't have happened if I had just bought it in first thing in the morning, even though I made it clear to the receptionist a day beforehand that I wouldn't have the vehicle that early. Heated and irrational, I decided to leave a two-star review on Google about David's rudeness. Admittedly, this was not a wise decision, but at the same time, how could I have known that he keeps a sharp eye out for bad reviews when he's supposedly swamped with work? Sure enough, I get a call from him demanding that I take it down. I refused and decided to just go get my car, ignoring the angry, long-winded text he sent me, in which he said he would no longer do any of the non-existent repairs on a vehicle I had brought in for a general inspection. When I arrived at the shop, he refused to give up my keys, physically holding on to them and actually snatching them out of my reach when I tried to get them back. I could have called the police since he legally had no right to withhold my vehicle, but I had more pressing matters to attend to. He gave up the keys and glared at me as I left, leaving me in absolute awe of the unprofessionalism I experienced. I regret writing that first review for sure, as it was purely reactionary, but if they had simply told me they were fully booked and could not accept my appointment, then none of this would have happened. David might be a great auto mechanic, judging by the many perfect reviews his company has, but it is clear to me that he becomes quite rude and aggressive towards customers whenever he's in the wrong. If you look at some of the other one-star reviews here and on Google and see how he replies to them, you'll see what I mean. Somehow, some way, it's always the customers' fault when something goes wrong. Never his.
