I described all of the issues my car was having, and the owner was able to explain the causes and what different solutions would look like. After some back and forth in which I provided more context and he answered all of my questions, we mutually agreed on a solution that made the most sense. The quote went from being $2,000+ to about $500. I felt that his willingness to dialogue with me made all the difference, and I could tell quite plainly that he was completely honest, experienced, and also straightforward. Sure enough, he was able to work some magic on my catalytic converter, replace some spark plugs, and tweak a couple other things here and there. I originally took the car because it had failed an emissions inspection. When I arrived to pick it up, I found that he had taken the liberty of bringing the car to an emissions place and had already gotten it passed. The paperwork was sitting on my dashboard. It's been about 3 months since then; I wanted to wait some time to confirm that my issues would not return. I was looking for a place that was open around the holidays, & found A&S based on reviews. They were able to get me in same day and had it diagnosed and repaired by the next day despite being quite busy. After they made the repairs, they told me to let them know if there were any problems. After about a day, my check engine light was back on so it took it back in. They were able get me in right away and kept the car to diagnose and troubleshoot further. They eventually figured out the problem and fixed it with no additional charge. Emil said at this point, if the car had any other issues, that I would need to take it to the dealership but they would take care of things. This time I drove it around a few days and did not have any further issues. I had 2 places try to convince me other things were wrong with my vehicle, that it would take multiple days of man hours, removing engine, charge me upwards of 2400$ for a complete overhaul of my cooling system. After a brief conversation and a walk thru, and a diagnostic test.. he assured me he would resolve the issue by the morning. About 2 hours after leaving he calls and tells me he has figured the issue and that I'm he would be replacing items, totaling 1/5 of the price of the other stores and within a half day turnaround. Had an emergency and found A&S based upon the reviews. First off, they did the work requested and everything was solved in a very timely manner. For that, they definitely get a "good" review. The reason it's not a 5-star review was for the hustle. Basically, they heavily overcharged for parts and labor by giving a lump sum pricing .. instead of a detailed quote. I get it .. charge as much as the person will pay ... not what it really costs, but this is a heads up for future customers. Watch the hustle. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!! I brought my car in because of an oil leak. I payed a large amount of money and he said it was fixed. My car would take a minute just to accelerate making it dangerous to drive AFTER I took it in for the first problem. This was never a problem before. Now it has broken down 4 days later. He told me it would be 2k more. After this happened, everyone at my job told me I should have never taken my car there because they do a horrible job and they have messed up everyone's car that has brought their car there. These guys are ok, but they charge an arm and leg for their services. Go here if you can't find anyone else. They work fast, know their stuff (most of the time) and there are good restaurants nearby if you need to kill time. After a couple of visits to them, I thought they were chumy. Then they had to go and break my trust: I had a overheating problem, and like the lady in the other review, I feel like I got ripped off on a thermostat (went to other mechanics and they said it wasn't a good replacement). I took it back, they said it was fine, but that the overheating could be a result of the head gasket that may have gotten damaged and wanted to charge close to a $1000 to shave the head gasket. The fix ended up being something really minor and was less than $30. I also came here to get my car checked out for an oil leak, and it took about 2 or 3 more visits until I went to another place.They didn't charge a fee for diagnostics since they needed to keep running tests. Don't know if business is going bad, but once you break the customers' trust that's it pal. read more

I've been coming to these guys for awhile now and just thought to put up a review! They are absolutely the best. Very trustworthy and always explain what needs to be done in detail before even working on the car or accepting payment. I appreciate that because some shops don't and you have no idea what's being done to the car and why the bill is what it is. They are big on car education so you can be a more informed patron, not just someone coming and going without any idea what general maintenance needs to be done or what needs to be monitored in the future. They'll even show you what's going wrong with your car by bringing example models as a way to illustrate the situation. They did that to explain my brake pads filling down once. They are willing to work with you and still give the best service. They have all their rates and policy information smack in the front of the lobby so you know what to expect and the policy is very understandable and not at all harsh on patrons. I don't think I'll be going anywhere else any time soon. I lucked up on finding them just moving out here a few months ago. It's hard finding a reliable and honest mechanic so I appreciate them so much. If there is one complaint it would be the telephone. Sometimes it's hard to reach them on busy days via phone because everyone here works on the cars. But it's not too bad since you can always just stop by and they'll quickly take care of you. read more

Just left here....and I received amazing service of honesty and care from this shop. I was in this area for an interview and my car stopped.... And it's never done that before. . But I'm new to the area, just moved here so it quickly became a nightmare for me. I finally found a shop that would listen... And it was Emil who answered the phone. He quickly became way more then a mechanic. Lol. I'm sure he didn't see this coming! But I am forever grateful. He kept me calm, & since I was so close to his shop, he and another mechanic came to me, got my car started then took me back to the shop for a diagnostic tests. He was honest with me... He told me that the amount of things wrong with the car that will eventually have to be fixed. . Cost more then the car is worth and that I shouldn't put anymore money into the car... But instead I shld just use the amoutn of money it would cost to get another car. My car drives fine, however the check engine light has been on for yrs....i have asked other shops abt it and they say it's just an electrical thing due to my car being an Lt version of its model... but today... It was out of oil and it caused the engine to shut down. The oil light never came on, so I had no idea the oil ran out so fast. . He explained the problems with the engine light and what happened in result of the engine light never being fixed and all the problems that had occurred over time that I wasn't aware of becuase of the check engine light never going off. . He even used car parts to explain my problems to me. He could have clearly charged me for everything that was wrong and let me leave. But instead he educated me on the problems, told me my options then gave me his advice. Even the other lady in the weight room was like... "wow he was honest.. He could have just taken your money".. And that was so true. He gave me an oil changed, a diagnostic test, and cleaned my throttle body.. Now my car runs just like it did before. Fine.... But I will def start looking for another car. . He is definitely reasonably priced! . I currently live in Marietta.. But I will def travel there to get any car services that I'll need from here on out! . I was struggling to find a mechanic around town that was fairly priced, honest and trustworthy. I needed a fix in order to pass my emissions test and Emil not only fixed it on the first try but he made sure that we would get it fixed no matter how many attempts it would take. To the women reading this; I know it's incredibly important that we find mechanics who are honest and don't try to take advantage of our sometimes (depending on your experience with cars) limited knowledge. Especially when it comes to up-selling you parts that you may not even actually need. (I'm looking at you, Jiffy Lube and Midas!) I have to say that every time I've come to A&S Auto, not only are they especially welcoming, but they are timely and very transparent. Usually I am greeted by Emil who then listens intently to the concerns with my car and takes it in to be assessed. Once he has checked it he comes out and discusses the issue with me and shows me the part and how it's supposed to work versus how mine is working. Never do I feel pressured to accept the service, he simply states what the issue is and how he and his awesome team can fix it. And he always gives me a fair and reasonable price (I know because I have cross checked with other business prices) and the work is done efficiently and in a timely manner. There is respect, there is honesty, and I have not once felt condescended to or swindled. My old car is running as good as is mechanically possible and I have become a loyal customer. I was told by another shop that I had to replace the entire headlights which would have been an arm and a leg. I called this shop and spoke to Mike he told me to come by and let him check. Once they looked at my car all I needed was to replace my bulb. It was a breath of fresh air. I would highly recommend this shop. It is very hard to find genuine mechanics that obviously love what they do and is reasonable with the prices. I will be going back for other maintenance work. Don't EVER go there! A&S is one of the best place to get RIPPED OFF if you are a woman! I had my car towed there because of the good reviews on Internet, but it is a SCAM. They overcharged me for a simple job which was the replacement of a thermostat on a Chevy Aveo... Not only they overcharged me but this thermostat broke after 3 weeks, and my car had then some overheating issues! I had to go to another place who found out that the thermostat was bad, and NOT a brand new!!! When I went back to this place, they told me I was lying, and the other place didn't change anything!!! The only thing they did was to refund me the bill of the other place who charged me 4 times less than them!!! What a great customer service! SCAMMERS FROM A TO Z!!!! If you want to save dollars, and not being RIPPED OFF, AVOID this place! They are always nice when you get there but become EVIL when you figure out they are scammers! Also, they tried to charge me for an additional work (replacement of the valve cover gasket) for a price higher than the dealership! This place is A JOKE!!!! I have to say this is probably one of the best auto repair shops in the city. Our household has two older cars (20+ years old) that needed some TLC. When I first took my car there, the service mechanic brought me to the garage and actually SHOWED me the issues with it (in my case, the steering system in the undercarriage was visibly busted). The parts were immediately ordered and my car was repaired within the day. On another vehicle, I and the service mechanic went out for multiple test drives before and after the repairs make sure that the problem was resolved. I brought my VW CC were most mechanics are hesitant to touch german cars. Mike and his team fixed the issue around overheating and also the timing belt.
