MY MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH A CAR RENTAL COMPANY. THEY SHOULD CLOSE THIS PLACE IMMEDIATELY AND FIRE ALL THEIR EMPLOYEES. I returned the car at the right time and dropped the keys off with a guy working in the garage. Then, I went in the admin office and returned contract to a young man. He dais that the manager was temporarily out and that he couldn't give me the receipt. Fine, I (stupidly) trusted the young man. After a few days I was charged with another day because my return was recorded on the following day! Moral of the story, I had to pay 200$ more because 1) the manager was out while he should have been at work, 2) this young man replacing the manager could not do something basic as recording a return. Obviously, the customer service did not help as I don't have any proof that the car was returned the day before. I am thinking that maybe this was done on propose. Unfortunately I cannot really do anything more than not renting a car with budget anymore, but this kind of behaviors should be stopped. read more

He also gave great prices and was fair. We are now safely out of the city, united with our families, and completing the mandated 14 day quarantine for New Yorkers. Thank you! If you enjoy standing in line for 2 hours this is definitely the place for you. Get here a couple hours before your pick up time if you have somewhere to be. I rented my car with plenty of time to make it to my destination, and was still an hour late. Wouldn't have been a big deal if the times were flexible, but a funeral happens once. Budget car rental office at Adams Street in Brooklyn was a nightmare. Waited in line for over an hour to pick up reserved car. People waiting in line were both picking up - and dropping off with no guidance as far as being able to drop off their paper work. The people working at the counter were not helpful or friendly. I had a "maintenance required - see dealer" alert come on the screen of my rental car during the course of my rental time and needed to find out if the car was safe to drive. It took me an hour and 5 phone calls for someone who could actually help me and tell me my vehicle was safe to drive back to my drop off location. No wonder these rental car businesses are going under with poor customer service. I only rent from them because they are convenient. If I had another option I would definitely not use this location or any rental car business. read more

Woof. Bit of a rough one here. We showed up on-time for a work rental. Maybe waited 20-30 minutes while a worker spoke on the phone. Everything seemed a bit sloppy, yet kind. The price though was rock-solid and that's what's preventing this from being a 1-Star review. If being on time for your trip isn't an issue, use this place as the price is great. After booking online, my pickup was smooth. (Aug 7 9a). Gentleman with Jamaican accent) was friendly and quick. But the real treat was Anastasia down at car pick up. She was outgoing, friendly, thorough and kind. Customer service 10/10. Incidentally, I dropped a rental off here last month and her level of service was exactly the same. Rude car attendants try to scam you on damage/scratches by not marking things on inspection sheet at pickup and doing inspection in DARK, unlit part of the garage! Also marking gas tanks full when they are only 1/4 full (!). BEWARE. Be very careful at pickup. Every time I have rented here they pull the same tricks. I am done with them, won't be back. read more

We are currently waiting in our 5th hour, have been to two locations, and the first location NO ONE showed up to work. Convenient location for sure. My rental car was new and clean. Front desk did little to explain things so be on top of it. The woman was vague if I asked anything. I know little stuff to look for since I rent a lot, and cover myself as much as I can. I choose to fill the gas tank to where it is now when I return it. Every rental place I have been to gives you a full tank. This wasn't and the games begin,.,,, When the office asked the fuel level over the radio, the lot/garage guy on the radio said G4? Not clear, I checked. The car had a half a tank so I took a picture of it with the millage. I asked about that and the guy at return said half. I mentioned I had a photo anyway. There's over 3/4's so they can't charge me. They also have a dishonest practice I caught, and confronted them in the garage, and office. They PURPOSELY put the EZ PASS/EZ TOLL SENSOR DOWN when you pick up your car. Tricky.. Every single place gives you that choice, and tells you to flip down if you want it. If you don't check it, and pay cash on the Bridge or turnpike, you'll have to call a number, too bad.. Lame stuff but true. Some woman was picking up a car and I pointed it out. She wasn't happy. Every car all over there I seen had it down!! BS! Customers in the office were curious when I mentioned it. Nothing was said but call a number if charged. That proves its scammy. They'll probably say you bumped it, or show us your cash receipts.. Your screwed. Using Kayak/Priceline type of combination the insurance is cheapest of you want it. And the cost was lowest I found. So check your GAS tank before and after with a photo, Check the EZ FLIPPER to be UP! And buy the cheap insurance so you can get a surprise. Get a receipt when you leave, and confront what I mentioned so they think twice about deception. Great world we live in these days, huh. Only one thing I'm waiting for is them to say there's some damage. The office woman seemed cheery when I mentioned I had coverage from elsewhere. ?? The car is the way I got it. I found the check out process to go as expected, in fact I received an upgrade for no other reason than 'my pleasant attitude. Nice touch be the Team there. The real test would be the return. That is where I would have expected issues if there were going to be any. Nope, smooth and simple. There is new leadership at this location and folks need to understand this establishment is just fine. Don't shy away, the local Team is doing its best to make your experience pleasurable. Agree w/ all the other bad reviews. Our experience w/ this place was terrible. I'm loathe to blame the actual employees -- I suspect it's more of a case of bad management -- but it's really just miserable trying to get a car our of there. Among other things, I think they're using computers and printers from, like, 1998. We waited an hour on an ever growing line, watching almost everyone have some legitimate complaint about something. And when we finally got our car, it had no relationship whatsoever to the actual car we had reserved. There didn't seem to be anything shady going on, at least that we experienced -- they just seemed spectacularly incompetent. Really a convenient location, but I will do my best to never rent a car here again. read more

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had. They provided me with a damaged car and a slip that had the small crack in the window marked. Then they waited nearly two months to send an invoice for the damage and their customer service has the audacity to tell me that this location "doesn't provide that slip." The onus is on me to find a receipt from a car I returned two months ago. Be aware! Bad service here. We will not go back. Today I tried to pick up a car that my wife reserved. Kimberly at the desk told me that their computer system was not functioning for five days and so they could not let me pick up the car she had reserved. Agent Kimberly told me basically to go away and call Budget's main service number to update the reservation so my wife would not need to come into the office. After I suggested that we could call the service number together from the Budget office, she grudgingly dialed and handed me the phone. Remote customer service dude Marko tells me he can't change reservation from my wife to my name without charging more. It's a useless call, 15 minutes wasted. Nobody at Budget tries to be helpful. Finally, the manager shouts out from another room something, and it seems she may be in position to helpful. But she is shouting unseen from another room, and I tell her that it would be helpful if she came out so we could talk like human beings without shouting to each other. She says she will not come out because she is eating her lunch. So my wife comes to the office 30 minutes later to pick it up. Kimberly has a different story now about how they tried to be helpful but that I was a jerk. Now they tell her that she didn't need to come after all. Why did this need to be confrontational? Why was it not possible to let me pick up the car that my wife reserved, without jacking up the price? Why would an office be non-functional because a computer is broken for 5 days and it did not get fixed? Am I supposed to feel sympathetic that they don't know how to get their computer fixed, and celebrate their incompetence? Why did Kimberly tell me to waste time talking to Marko, when Marko says he can't be helpful unless we pay more money. Why would the manager sit out-of-sight and try to converse with a customer by screaming? Why make a simple transaction into a really annoying episode? The 333 Adams Budget office staff is not interested in being helpful, just eating their lunch, avoiding work, and getting customers to pay more than the agreed price. My wife could have picked up the car, finally, after she arrived at the office. However, on the walk over to the Budget office she called our good friends to ask if we could borrow their Lexus instead of renting from Budget. We do many favors for one another, and we'll be going up in our friend's Lexus and saving $400 that would have gone to Budget. We will send the $400 savings to a shelter for homeless youths that we like to support. Thank you Budget! read more

Their service is as corporate as it gets. It's like they forgot what being a person is. The guy behind the counter is like a robot and couldn't possibly be any slower. Came in with 2 people in line in front of me, and I'm writing this review as I currently am still waiting. Someone else came in and asked if anyone else was working, and the guy behind the counter rudely answered "No." To be fair, the guy wasn't horrible during my renting process, reasonably nice, but the one star is for the awfulness of the company as a whole, and as sympathy for some of the other people's bad experiences that I'm sure are accurate after being here for more than half an hour. After having called the 1-800 number to let them know I would be late and having been told by the 800 people there would be No additional charge, the location charged me $144.00 extra, when i told them what i had been told they told me at the 800 number they said they don't care what the 800 number people say. When i called the 800 people to complain, they told me that whoever i spoke with , didn't write anything in the notes! BUDGET BIG scam! Second time they burn me with well over $125. charge, never again. They apologize and want to give a $10. Coupon. They can put their coupon where the sun never shines!!! Car overheated very soon after picking it up while in the Holland Tunnel. After letting it cool down for half an hour, I had a look under the hood, and the oil and coolant levels were both below minimum (as was the brake fluid). I bought oil, coolant, and brake fluid, leaving the bottles with remaining fluids in the trunk. When I raised the issue with the manager upon dropping off the car, he basically blamed me, saying I should have called their roadside assistance (I had actually called the rental office, who just told me to keep my receipts and said nothing about their roadside service). The manager refused to take any responsibility for the car's condition, saying maintanence is done elsewhere, and told me to call the national hotline for a reimbursement. After 15 minutes on hold with the national line I decided not to waste any more time on it, and will just take my business elsewhere in the future. If you want a car with proper levels of coolant and oil that won't overheat in a crowded tunnel, maybe skip this one. read more

Avoid renting from budget and particularly this place where the customer service is terrible. You only have to look at all the lousy reviews from the company online. Go to avis or enterprise around the corner where i have previously rented cars for a much better experience. I returned a car here and was told by the returns guy that there would be a cleaning charge applied due to the interior floor of the car. The interior was actually fine and only had minimal dirt you would expect from a weeks rental. After a ten minute argument I eventually just borrowed his Hoover and cleaned it myself which took all of 3 minutes to do. In summary if you don't want a rental car that you have to clean yourself before you return it then book elsewhere! read more

This is based on a return of a car I rented elsewhere. Return could not have been more convenient. The office is located in the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott. Car return is in the hotel parking garage down a few levels. Route within the garage is clearly marked. Turn in was very easy. Dropped the car off, to the elevator up to the Budget office to get the receipt. In and out in 5 minutes. read more

When I returned the car, the guy who works in the return area said the car is too dirty, and he wanted to charge me $250 for unusual wear and tear even though the only thing the car needed was an easy vacuuming. This was absolutely ridiculous, but he shamelessly insisted on such nonsense, and there was no manager available. He was clearly looking for a payout! After arguing for a long time and cleaning the car myself, he reluctantly let this go. Avoid this criminal enterprise! read more

The car was dirty, clearly not sanitized for COVID-19 (crumbs in seats, litter), there was a 2 hour long wait to get our vehicle, and the windshield wipers were old and cracked, causing INCREDIBLY limited visibility when we got caught in the rain during our trip which was DANGEROUS and caused us a great deal of stress. Even after speaking with your customer service, we only were offered a measly $30 coupon, we could not get a hold of the local Brooklyn facility manager after calling for 2 weeks, and I will NOT rent a car from Budget again. You can also count on the fact that I will let all loved ones, friends, and colleagues in my network know your service is terrible, so much so it can be life threatening. read more

Beware renting at this location. If you do, document all damage, exterior and underneath the car with time stamped photos. Note the mileage and gas tank with photos as well. When I rented the vehicle the car had numerous scratches and dents. I asked the attendant if he was aware of the damage to the car and he replied yes. I should have returned to the office and asked the manager to sign off on that damage to the rental agreement before I left the lot, but I was in a hurry so I took photos on my phone instead. Three months later I received a bill for $800 saying I was responsible for the damage. Budget uses a subcontractor to asses and charge damages and It took me about twenty hours of my time to resolve the issue. I had to upload time stamped photos, fill out a report and mail all my correspondence, because the claims adjuster did not answer or return my calls. I suspect the attendant who gave me the keys to the car probably did the damage himself and tried to get me to pay for it. I will never rent form this location again. read more

Car was clean, service was quick BUT BE CAREFUL and make sure you document everything!!! I got a car rented to me that was below 3/4 gas and I returned it the same way; I got charged 33 dollars the next day for not restoring to 3/4 a tank even though that's not how it was given to me. I was also told by an employee there that I would get a certain amount for tolls a day- I get a bill a week later for 119 dollars. Ridiculous. read more

I've rented a car from this place 3 different times. I never had to wait and the staff is incredibly nice! Every time the process was so easy, fast and efficient. On two out of those three rentals I got a brand new car, (and I mean literally: 19 miles on it, stickers still on the handles!). It's been a pleasure renting from them every single time. Great cars, fantastic staff and a very convenient location (close to the trains). read more

We rented a car on a Friday afternoon, no wait, staff amazing and a reasonable upgrade price to the next level vehicle. Jeep was clean, ran well.
