From the initial phone call to make a reservation to the drop off, everyone was friendly and helpful. The vehicle itself was quite nice by the usual truck rental standards, and included EZ Pass, which was very convenient for my brief trip to South Jersey. Tolls are billed to your credit card with an additional charge of $1.50 per instance; this is fine on the Turnpike, but might feel a little burdensome on a long Parkway trip. No hidden costs, no nonsense, and frankly quite inexpensive when compared to my expectations. There is no question whatsoever whom I will be contacting for this type of rental moving forward.

My flight landed shortly after midnight last night, and I proceeded to the rental counter where I waited in a very long line. By the time I reached the desk, it was already quite late. While preparing to complete my rental transaction, I realized I could not immediately locate my credit card. I asked if I could use my debit card, regardless of the available balance, and was told by the customer service representative, Hannah, that this was not permitted. She responded in an extremely rude and dismissive manner, stating, "I do not care how much money you have in your debit card." I then politely asked her to give me a moment to check my carry-on bag. I was able to locate my credit card within minutes. When I informed her that I had found it, she responded, "That's great, but I am off shift now so you can go back to the end of the line." I expressed that this was poor customer service, to which she replied, "Well you do not need to rent to us and we do not need to rent to you." I then returned to the back of the line. Shortly afterward, Hannah and another employee left the counter, leaving one young woman alone to manage several waiting customers. Fortunately, a gentleman came to assist her. At that time, I expressed my concern regarding Hannah's disrespectful and unprofessional behavior. By this point, it was after 1:00 a.m. After traveling all day and waiting in line for an extended period, the lack of professionalism and courtesy displayed was extremely disappointing. I travel frequently throughout the United States and have used Alamo several times in the past. This experience does not reflect the level of service I have come to expect and is concerning from a customer service standpoint. I am very concerned about the conduct and professionalism demonstrated during this interaction. Such behavior reflects poorly on your company and is simply not acceptable. Hannah has a lot to learn about life and how to treat people if she is going to work with the public.

I made a mistake in not reading all of the fine print (they did it all right - I did not see something - it was my error) and upon returning the car both Paul and Rico resolved and handled it with such kindness, understanding and total professionalism. They didn't just fix my issue when I was in a panic - they made me feel valued at National car rental throughout the entire return process. An hour late, 45 minutes it with customer service, we had to fish or cut bait. So off we went to National/Alamo and Josh!!!! Josh was there behind the counter and when he saw us (how many months later???) he smiled and gently asked "Zip Car?" There were NO cars left but there was this mini-van. We took it! And then we had to figure out how to open doors and move seats and Josh patiently showed us, even though the rental office was busy and people were on line and ok some were a bit cranky. The cost of this FANTASTIC mini-van was the same as the Zip Car. Both our neighbors and we are planning on using Alamo/National before we do Zip again. With customer service from Josh and all the folks at the counter (honestly everyone there has been so wonderful), we always get a great car at a great price and we don't ever panic or get late to a party. Their fine print says if you prepay and drop the car off early, there is no credit. I didn't even have the car a few hours! THIS IS THEFT!!!
