On 11/8/25 we rented a car from Avis Budget group at Flagstaff Airport to be returned on 11/14, at a cost of $423.94. On 11/13 my husband lost vision in his left eye. We went to the ER and were told he might need surgery and could not fly home 11/14. He was to see a specialist the morning of the 14th and possibly be brought to Phoenix Hospital. I called Budget the night of 11/13 and was told by their agent that we could bring the car to Phoenix airport on 11/15 and would be charged $525 total, instead of $423.94 as we would have the car an extra day. I asked if they needed medical support and was told no. Then we receive our credit card bill and were charged $922.87. When we called we were told to supply proof that their representative said $525. We had his name but had no means to record the call. But Budget did record the call. We were advised it was being recorded for training purposes or something like that. They can go back and check the recording if they want. All we are asking is for them to honor the price that their agent acting on their behalf told us. We told them we were contacting the BBB and then they asked for medical support which we promptly provided on 12/24 and we can't get a response since. read more

First they gave me a car that Horn didn't work Backup cam didn't work "Engine/oil service light" was on Tire kept going flat as tpms light was on They claimed it "just had a little bit of sand in it" and that they "took pictures and noted it so you won't be charged". I have pictures of how I received the car and it was full of sticky substances, sand everywhere, stains, etc Now they're trying to lie and claim I did that mess and owe them $450. First, I love flying in and out of FLG airport. It's so small and quick to get in and out of. But this review is specifically for the fabulous service I received from the GM at the Avis/Budget counter at FLG. We had flown into St George, UT with the plan to drive to Flagstaff after hitting some tourist spots along the way. We were in a round trip reservation and planned to return to St George, but while in Page, we experienced a problem with our 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The key fob would not acknowledge the car (or vice versa). When we called Avis roadside, their only suggestion was to tow it and give us another car. But we were in Page where there is only one rental location and it had no cars. After stressing out all night because we had to be in Flagstaff the next day, the key fob miraculously opened the car and we were on our way. Once in Flagstaff, we didn't drive the car again and were worried about driving back to St George. We called Avis toll free number and they were unable to change the reservation to allow us to drop it anywhere other than St George. So the next morning, I called St George and the rep there was rather unhelpful. Just kept telling me it was a Budget UT car and it needed to be returned there. I did not feel comfortable driving 7-8 hours thru small towns and nothingness but she was not willing to make any alternate arrangements. I then took the car to the Flagstaff airport and talked to Darron Story. I told him my story and he was immediately understanding and more than willing to help me out. He gave me a one-way rental to go to PHX where i changed my flight to. I showed him a blog I found about the Grand Cherokee this being a known issue. He agreed and said there are other issues beyond that and didn't question me further. We filled out an incident report, waived the drop fee, and sent me on my way with a new $99 one way rental. I was all prepared to hug him when he brought me the replacement car, but someone different was in the car. Anyway, from this Presidents Club member and her daughter, we thank Darron from the bottom of our hearts for helping us. What's worse than the fact that I'm forced to sit in the Flagstaff airport while they prepare a car they sold me for a specific pickup time, is the fact that the staff, and then the manager, treated me like a piece of hot steamy dog poo when I asked for a discount to make up for the lost vacation time. I recently rented a vehicle and it was suppose to be a sedan and I was told all they had was a van. As I was traveling to Phoenix and the van kept giving out and at the stop signs it was almost ready to stall. I reported it and was told it will be noted. I was also trying to fill the tank and the gas kept spitting out all over. The gas Guage was incorrect and it kept fluxating full to half a tank. Very annoying. Conversation opened. 1 read message. I picked up my jeep cherokee from Flagstaff airport on Thursday June 29, 2023. The front right tire had low tire pressure and when I turned the car on the PSI was below normal in the 30's. I went back into the store to alert the Budget people. I was told that the car had just come in from the shop and that it was a new tire. Sometimes the tire pressure monitor does not register the new tire pressure right away. I said OK and drove away. One hour away I was on 17 south and the tire was completely flat. Pressure was down to 2 PSI. I had to pull off onto a service road in the middle of the desert heat. I called roadside assistance. The roadside assistance took so long, I was desperate to find help. LUCKILY, a highway crew was nearby and the foreman came to help. Otherwise my assistance would have been 2 hours in the mid day desert sun. The Budget office gave me a faulty car. I was in a precarious situation in the middle of nowhere - 17 south where it crosses 179. At least 15 miles from any towns. I got a new tire the next day. The time and expense all this took reflects so badly on Budget. I called the Flagstaff airport Budget counter and got a man who had been told about the low tire pressure. He said he would talk to his manager to see if there was something else Budget could do for me. Just got an email that Budget will not pay for the new tire I put on the car. I alerted them. I took the car. I was stuck in the desert for 2 hours. I replaced the tire and I did them a favor I paid for. OK so here's the deal. Sign up for fast break -it doesn't cost anything but the first time you use it you still have to wait in line. I did my research and the reason why the line is so long for budget is because most of the other rental car places around here don't have cars. When we went downstairs to finally get our car after a 50 minute wait in line -budget was the only center that actually had cards to give out. Devry checked us out and was very pleasant to deal with. It's Christmas week so a lot of people in-line were kind of on edge. There will be an extra charge when you get your bill but it is some thing like a 30 day charge per day that they said it would be reimbursed at the end of the rental. I will update to see if that is what happened. We booked our car through Expedia hopefully no hidden fees if there are I will post. read more

I made a reservation through priceline and it turned out to be a car through Budget. I had never rented from them so I had no opinion. I was renting a vehicle for 9 days with some family members that were visiting from outside of the country in order to tour around. When I got to the counter the man that appeared to be in charge was extremely rude. Our flight got cancelled for a second time so the agent at American suggested we rent a car and drive to Phoenix to catch our connection to San Diego. So we got to the counter and the rep says it will be $179 to rent the car for 4 hours to drive from Flagstaff to Phoenix. I show her the online price of $58 and some change. She says she can give us that price if we want to wait 3 hours until it "gets in their system". Nice way to take complete advantage and gouge people who are stuck in a situation like this. read more

Even when it may have hurt his bottom line he stepped up to provide me with great service and was professional throughout my visit. NEVER AGAIN. I originally rented a car through Hertz, but they "ran out" of vehicles, leaving me to practically BEG Budget for their last vehicle. My entire 2 day reservation with Hertz came to a total of $87, but Budget rented me their VW Bug for $119 A DAY. Because it was their last car and I was desperate, I agreed to it. My final charge posted today and it came to $344 for a two day rental! I never received a final bill, forcing me to call their office and hear the breakdown of ridiculous charges. Can someone explain to me how it costs $54 dollars to fill up a VW Bug with gas that was already at 3/4 of the way full?? I felt like Budget took advantage of my situation by price gouging the rental and then just hammered me with over $100 worth of added fees. Go elsewhere. Not Hertz though, they'll just give away your car. read more

This location was limited on the number of cars they had available so I had to take what I could get. When I got in the car it was the most filthy car I have ever been in! And I have kids so I know what can happen in a car. There was a sticker that said the car had been cleaned using EPA certified sanitizing agents (due to COVID) and even the sticker had a stain on it! Absolutely incompetent staff. Rude to customers and does nothing but refer to corporate when they make billing errors. I returned a car after a weekend rental and the staff did not check in the car for four days after it was returned (with a full tank of gas) and proceeded to charge me the additional four days it was sitting on the lot while they were too lazy to check it in - and then also tagged for for the tank of gas despite the fact the car was returned full. Took over 2 weeks to get refunded and then five more days for the funds to actually show up in my account. Go elsewhere - the Budget branch at the Flagstaff airport is not worth the aggravation and lack of service they provide. No stars. read more

After looking around a bit and doing price comparisons I decided to go with Budget Truck rental for my move from Flagstaff to Phoenix. The situation started off bad because the actual trucks are located at the airport, not at the address where the payment counter is on Route 66 just down the street from downtown Flagstaff. Super inconvenient. So had to drive to the airport to pick up the truck, which I did not check before leaving (my fault) and I noticed when I get home I was not given the dolly and moving blankets I included with my rental of the truck. Called Budget and spoke to Cody and had to drive back to the airport to get these only to be told they only had appliance dollys and none for boxes and such, which was no use to me so I did not take it. After getting back to my place and meeting up with the movers, we started getting our belongings packed into the truck, and what a wonderful time for some monsoon rains to come by. It started dumping rain on us pretty good when the movers noticed the roof of the truck was leaking. Fucking perfect. So I called Budget and spoke to Cody (again) whose suggestion was to "put a tarp over it"or to bring the truck back and exchange it. After having nearly half of our stuff moved we could not unload and take the truck back. And after telling my wife Cody said to "put a tarp over it" she was livid. She called Cody and asked him to come and fix it, as the mere suggestion of asking a customer to climb on top of a 15' truck to perform repairs was a little unsafe (to say the very least) at which point he hung up on her. She called back and asked for Cody a second time and was hung up on again. After this exchange I called the customer service line to report this behavior and was told a repair crew would be sent to fix the leak. After waiting over an hour and watching the rain come and go, someone finally showed up to repair the leak. But the fun doesn't end here folks. We get to Phoenix and get our stuff unloaded and go to return the truck two days later. We are told that since the dolly was included on the invoice that it would be marked as "missing" and we would likely be charged for it. So I called the customer service line (again) and explained the situation and was told I could expect a refund for the dolly charge ($22) in 5-7 business days. Not a problem, as long as I'm not going to be charged for something I didn't get or use. About a week later my wife asks why my bank account is in the negative. I checked my statement and found that Budget had not only failed to reimburse me for the $22 charge, they double charged my account for the same truck rental. So now had to dispute the charges with my bank to get the funds reversed which just happened a few days ago. The entire process with Budget has been a complete nightmare. Not only horrid customer service from a "service manager" who is a complete douche bag POS and then to have them try to steal money from me after the fact. Honestly, I feel like 1 star is too good for them. Beware of Budget Truck rental in Flagstaff. It may be the cheaper option, but you get what you pay for. Fuck you, Cody. read more

The 2 times that I've returned my car after hours at this location, I feel that I've been taken on my bill. The first time they charged me for pet hair in the vehicle of which, they charged me about 4 times what it would have cost to have had it detailed at a detail shop. And I didn't have a pet in the vehicle. The second time they charged me $772 for a 2 week rental that should have only been charged at $212/week. The manager agreed to refund only $60. I'm not a mathematician, but I think he is still about $288 short give or take a few dollars for taxes. On top of that, he was extremely rude to me when I told him that wasn't nearly enough. He acted like that was doing me some big favor. So, I told him that I would never rent from Budget again because there other rental car companies that don't try to take the screws to me every time I rent a car. He was dismissive and stated that he wouldn't return the money if that how I was going to be. I should have went to the location for face to face instead instead of trying to resolve it over the phone. I'm sure there would have been a different result. After the Budget office in Phoenix gave us a rear-wheel-drive car that wasn't safe in snowy Flagstaff, this office swapped out our vehicle for a front-wheel drive with no fees and no hassle. I called to rent a 12 passenger van for a business trip. The man on the phone recognized my number as a W.L. Gore and Associates number. I confirmed that I work for Gore and he said he would take care of me. I needed to book the van a week in advance and I wanted to pay for it over the phone so one of my employees could pick it up with out having to pay. He said they do not normally do that but if I called back after the weekend they would run my card and send me an emailed receipt. When I called back on Monday and spoke to the same man he said he could not take my payment over the phone and in the 20 years he had been working there they have never taken payment over the phone. When I stated that is what we agreed upon last week he got very agitated and eventually hung up on me. I will never do business with this Budget or any other Budget again if I don't have to.
