I called the number provided for the Alamo Pulliam Airport location and booked a reservation through a customer service representative. When we arrived at the airport, we were told they could not honor our reservation and that they never had the vehicle to begin with. Even worse, the manager, a brunette, was EXTREMELY rude and condescending. We were visibly frustrated, but she was not interested in helping us at all and did not even offer any apologies. When we walked away, she said "good talk guys" in a sarcastic tone. I didn't get her name, so I called Alamo to get the manager's name and was put on hold for 15 minutes before being told her name was Payton. Because we were unable to rent a car and every other place was closed, my boyfriend was unable to pick up his kids from Phoenix. I am shocked and awed by the ineptitude, disrespect, and lack of compassion we experienced. I will never use Alamo again and I suggest using Enterprise or a different car rental company. I got a great deal at Alamo online($20/day compact) at the Flagstaff AZ airport and was told 2 days in a row that they were overbooked. No good!!! I spent over $60 in Lyft fees going back and forth to deal with Alamo. Lyft to get to the airport Lyft to leave airport Lyft back to the airport ***Public transportation DOES NOT go to the airport. So, I went to Budget...they had a Kia Soul...un washed, un cleaned ($49) ...he would not accept AARP, AAA nor USAA for discounts .....($38)...Please beware that you need to book early, call often b4 picking up a vehicle at Alamo. Budget does not wash ANY of their vehicle's nor do they clean the interior...so yes they will smell like cigarette smoke. It's horrible to have this type of piss poor service and at at a small community airport. Only United and American Airlines fly into the Flagstaff airport. So..they can take advantage of folks. Did online booking for an emergency rental need. The reservation booked just fine. Around 4 hours later, when it was to late to call anyone else, I got a call saying they don't have any vehicles at all. This is going to cost me 100s of dollars because they don't bother putting something on the website saying to call for same day reservations. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Sunday, May 27, 2018, I called Alamo to reserve a rental car. My vehicle had just broken down in the town of Winslow, AZ and the nearest rental car companies that were open were based at the Flagstaff, AZ airport. The rep I spoke to when calling Alamo, was very helpful. However, I did inform her that I CANNOT give her a detailed reserve time for me to pick up the rental. The reason, I was at the mercy of the cab company to pick me up at the garage in Winslow and drive the 47 minutes to the Flagstaff airport. The rep put my pickup time in for 1:30pm. Unfortunately, I was dropped off at approx 2:30pm to pick up the rental car. The rep working the Alamo desk that afternoon was very rude and informed me that since I was an hour late, there were no rental cars available anymore and I would have to take a seat and wait. I was infuriated as I had previously stated that I COULD NOT give a pick up time to get the rental car. This is NOT good customer service on Alamo's part. Fortunately, I was able to get a rental car from Avis, which is located right beside your Alamo desk. I left it be known in the airport to anybody that needed a rental car as to the horrible customer service I just received from your rep. I will be posting negative reviews on TripAdvisor, Facebook, Twitter, Yelp, etc etc. Your system should allow the reps to input critical information on the reserve time if the customer is clearly making it known that circumstances may prevent the exact time from taking place. The rental car should have been held. Unfortunately, the desert highway between Winslow, AZ and Flagstaff, AZ is a drop zone for cell service. I will never consider renting from Alamo again. read more

The rental process was easy and the staff were helpful. When we couldn't find the car in the lot, one of the staff went out and drove it to the door for us. Vehicle was super clean, good mileage and comfortable. I want to give a special shoutout to Aimee and Ray at the Alamo Flagstaff for contacting me about prescription medications that I had left in the car. They called and verified my address and sent it via FedEx - I got my meds back within 48 hours of dropping the car off. This was above and beyond. Thank you. read more

Reserved a car several weeks in advance - noticed the airport website indicated that Alamo desk closed at 9:00pm. Called Alamo's main customer service line (it is very, very, very difficult to get through to a specific location using the automated phone tool which keeps you going in circles). Explained that our flight would not be arriving until after 9:00PM and asked if we would still be able to pick up our rental. The Alamo Agent assured me we would - said car is available 24/7 at airport locations. At 10:45PM, we found ourselves stranded in the small, dark FLAGSTAFF airport because the ALAMO counter (and all other rental car counters) were closed. No UBER or LYFT here - No Taxi's! Our hotel was 55 minutes away. A wonderful person from Flagstaff saw that my husband and I were in a panic and was so very kind to drive us to our hotel. We paid her (of course for her trouble). The next day we had to waste most of our day trying to find another rental in Sedona AZ - none to be found. Then we had to get a car service ($130) to drive us back to the airport to pick up the Alamo vehicle. Horrible experience. Cost us a lot more money out of pocket and we lost a vacation day. Contacted Alamo Customer Service (via email) when we returned home to ask for a reduced rental fee. NO response whatever. Do Not Use Alamo. read more

KJ was absolutely the most helpful manager I've ever dealt with in a rental car situation. I boxed myself in by reserving through a third party who would not let me change dates after booking and no rental cars were available. The third party was not helpful so I called him a couple times and he was able to calm my fears and help me out! I can't thank him enough for helping my vacation happen! I wouldn't have been able to do it without him going above and beyond to make sure I got the help I needed and was very responsive. read more

I booked my car a few weeks before my arrival on-line. I originally secured a economy car but when I arrive I was offered an upgrade of a full size car for $33(+tax) more. My concern with the car was to be well kept and new and I actually ended up with a new 2018 Toyota Camry. I was concerned only because on a recent trip elsewhere (Hawaii) through a different car agency the car broke down, had no spare, but that is a different issue. Anyways, I explained to the rep Suzie that I needed reliability in a location I am not familiar with and traveling with my daughter. Suzie assured me the car was in excellent condition and even gave me her direct number at Alamo if I had any concerns. I rented the car for 3 days and everything went well, no problems. Suzie the Management Assistant was very nice, professional and kind. My advice to others complaining go on line to secure the car you get better deals than walking in or calling in. Also when returning the car we experienced monsoon weather (pouring rain) unstoppable in Flagstaff, Az. Weather conditions I'm not used to being from California. My husband, sister and I rented a full size car for a week and a day and a half. When we went to pick up the car, they didn't have one but they upgraded us to a small sized truck, a Nissan Frontier, which initially I was worried about, we wanted a car because we were going to LA and it's hard enough to park and drive there as it is. I was also worried about the suitcases, they had to ride in the bed of the truck of course which wasn't bad but every time we stopped somewhere we had to put the cases inside the truck so we could feel safe leaving them. Also, gas mileage wasn't great, we had to fuel up a fair few more times than we would have had to with a car. Overall though, it wasn't a huge inconvenience, at least we had transportation! Before we ever left the desk they credited us a free tank of gas so we didn't have to bring it back full. Upon returning the vehicle, the guy at the desk couldn't be more helpful. First he said he'd credit us for this current day since we returned early, then he went on to say that gas mileage couldn't have been very good, I'll go ahead and credit you the previous day as well to offset the fuel costs. Amazing! Thank you guys so much. I unfortunately came back from vacation feeling so, so sick, some kind of sinus infection type thing, and this was amazing customer service to experience at any time, especially while not feeling well. I reserved online months ago, asking for an economy car. When we got to Flagstaff, we had to choose between a Chevy Camero or a Dodge minivan. The people we talked to were nice and apologetic, saying they were happy they even had a car for us to take at all. After driving the Camero for about an hour, we called and asked to be put on a waiting list over the week we were here for anything else. The poor visibility, uncomfortable seats, and awkward two doors were disappointing as we were driving around Flagstaff. We were hoping for a better fit before traveling down to Sedona or out to the Grand Canyon. Again, the people were nice and put us on a list but we never heard back. I wish we had gone with a different rental company. There were much better choices in the lot for Avis - which I would recommend for anyone in the future. read more

The manager was dismissive and rude. We waited 40 plus minutes for our car. Just to be lazily handed the keys and told to click the lock button to find out our car it is. I don't mean this funny, it's your job to be in hospitable and you made it a negative start to our trip. I suggest choosing anywhere but Alamo. read more

Our rental from Phoenix broke down, we made it to this location. They say they have no cars and can do nothing for us. Say the airport even shuts down, so we will be kicked out. I'm 7 months pregnant and trying to get home to my 2 year old, and they don't care at all. Horrible customer service! I'm almost in tears and they are laughing behind counter. Worst ever! read more

I am requesting a refund for this rental car. History: I picked up the rental vehicle on 12/2 as planned. Our hotel was 80 miles away from the airport. I was traveling with 2 kids. We stopped for dinner on the way to the hotel, and the car would not start. The error message in the car stated that the battery was dead. We were in a very remote area of Arizona, so we didn't have cell service. In addition, it was getting dark and it started to snow. I tried several times to start the car, and it would not start. After sitting for about 30 minutes, I tried to start the car again and it did start. We drove straight to the hotel, fearing if we stopped again we would not get the car to re-start. By this time it was dark, and the 80 mile journey to the hotel was driven on miles upon miles of desolate highway. Again, in the dark, in the snow, with no cell service. There were no gas stations or any other businesses along our route. All 3 of us were completely stressed and worried that the car would break down and we would be stranded in a car with no heat, while the temps were below freezing on 12/2/2020. We did finally make it to the hotel, but decided NOT to risk driving the vehicle again for fear of being stranded. So, our first day of vacation we were stuck in the hotel. We had plans for 12/3, that we had to cancel. Not a good way to start a planned vacation with 2 kids. The morning of 12/3, I called the rental company and they informed me that I needed to call their roadside assistance department. I called, and was told that they had NO other vehicles available, and that I should call back daily to see if anything comes available. I called the airport rental location again, and was told that I would need to drive back to the airport (80 miles away), and they would try to get me another vehicle. Of course, I wasn't willing to take the chance and drive the car with a dead battery back to the airport 80 miles away. Then they suggested (I kid you not), that they send a tow truck driver to my hotel to retrieve the dead vehicle and that I ride along with the tow truck driver, a total stranger, during COVID, for the 1.5 hour trip back to the airport to pick up a new vehicle (that they now suddenly have available) and leave my 2 kids in the hotel for the 4 hours hours it would take to travel round trip to the airport to pick up the new vehicle. Are you kidding me???!!! I declined and DEMANDED that they pickup the dead vehicle and deliver a new vehicle to the hotel. After HOURS upon HOURS on the phone with the car rental agency, they finally agreed. However, it took 6 hours to get the new vehicle. During which time, me and 2 kids were stranded at the hotel, unable to enjoy our first day of vacation doing the things we had already paid for and planned. When I returned the vehicle to the airport location yesterday, 12/7/2020...the MOST they were willing to do is not charge me for the first day of rental. However, this is unacceptable. This error on the part of the car rental agency created unnecessary stress on our vacation, and caused a BIG disruption to our plans. Please issue an immediate/full refund. read more

A ZERO!! I've never rated a company a ZERO but Alamo deserves it! We rented a car and the customer service rep told us the counter would be open because their were additional rentals after us. They were right! 3 other families were at the closed Alamo desk with us. Stranded at the airport. To make matters worse, we had called Alamo before our flight to make sure that we could pick up our car after the posted hours, to which they assured us that an agent would be waiting for us. Once we arrived to the closed desk we called Alamo again to which the customer service representative said he could not call anyone, he had no phone numbers or manager! Unbelievable, a company the size of Alamo and you can only speak to a low level customer service rep reading off a script! Needless to say we will NEVER entertain Alamo again. Do NOT listen to Alamo national customer service when they tell you the flagstaff airport Alamo desk will have someone waiting for you if your flight arrives after 9pm. They are flat-out lying to you to get your reservation. The flagstaff airport should do a much better job of taking care of their customers. This is the first and last time we will fly into Flagstaff. Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport has never disappointed. We will continue to fly there, rent our cars there and drive north. read more

I had a recent week long trip to Flagstaff and rented a car with Alamo through a third party. My flight was hours late and I arrived well after Alamo closed. I called ahead to let them know and was told that I could pick it up the next morning at an increased $ Total because of the 3rd party rental agreement. The next morning I arrived at the counter and Holly set me up. Not only did she correct the price but in all my years of travel I never had a customer service representative with such a positive pleasant attitude. She took time to correct the price, check out the car and explain some places to see. She should be teaching classes to customer service representatives! read more

We literally had the worst experience we have ever had renting a vehicle at the Alamo in Flagstaff, AZ. We prepaid a reservation for today at 12 pm. No one ever told us we had to pick it up by 12 pm. We tried to pick it up at 5pm so we could get our car to drive to Phoenix tomorrow morning. Because we did not arrive at 12 they gave our reservation away and have no other cars to give to us. Then the staff said we needed to call a customer service number to get our money back. What a complete joke! Why did I even make a reservation?! No one ever told us or even contacted us before giving our car away. The staff was so rude and apathetic to our situation. We called corporate and they said company policy states you have 12 HOURS to pick up your car. WE WILL NEVER USE ALAMO EVER! And I will tell my story to all who will ever listen. I can't say enough about this Alamo location. American airline were American Airlines, meaning our flight was severally delayed. We landed after Alamo's hours of operation. The Alamo worker stayed until my plane landed, rented me the car and then went home. We were the last flight in for the night. I was very impress, had a great vacation. It could have started out shaky, but Alamo saved the day. We came in the night of 10/19/17....I know this is delayed, but better late then never. read more

To make up for us having to wait he gave us a credit of $50. And, then, since we had time to kill we grilled him on Flagstaff since he is a resident and got all great inside information! read more

I've had some bad experiences with car rentals and certainly today with our delayed flight and missed connection...but...Joe at the Alamo/National rental desk made us feel at ease. Was very polite, reassuring and had a great personality helping to put my husband and in laws in a better mood. Anthony behind the desk helped make recommendations for activities showing us the map and great attractions not to miss in the area. I would recommend using this company from the service and great attitudes alone. Also the price for a standard suv was very competitive compared to other companies we were looking at. read more

I had the same experience as someone two years ago. Booked through Expedia - called a few weeks before my reservation to confirm our SUV to accommodate 6 people (they confirmed) - went to the desk - was told there was no car from us. Jeff Spellman (rental agent) offered no apology - and didnt even seem to care. He told us to go to Budget. So while we waited for Budget to "find us a car" (actually trying to do something about us stranded at the airport) I called Alamo customer service and told them we had a reservation but no car. Whats the point of making a reservation if you aren't going to have a car for me - yet tell me there is? So the first woman said she would transfer me to her supervisor (she didnt want to deal with the issue.) so the second woman didnt want to deal with me either so who does she transfer me to? Thomas Finneran (assistant manager) - standing right infront of me at the airport. Where was he when Jeff told me they had no car? Standing right next to him. He only seemed to car after I was transferred to him. He offered me a "20% discount" the next time im in flagstaff - except I live in PA so I wasn't exactly planning on coming again anytime soon. He also only offered this after I asked him what he was going to do about it. The difference? Jeff cared 0%. He spoke cold - insincere, and didnt care about our business. Tom? He actually SEEMED to care, although its probably because I was making a scene in front of other customers. Daniel Pridham - the Branch Manager who was not there that day. Dan - Please retrain Jeff (or just get rid of him) on customer service and maybe offering some solutions. Like the second woman on the phone told us to "just come back tomorrow" to get a car. or "get two smaller cars" since thats so convenient for us. Bottom line - don't go to Alamo - especially if you are trying to rent a larger car. read more

Thomas Finnerman from the Flagstaff Alamo Rent A Car really helped us out. We had a horrible horrible experience with a women named Faidat from the 800 number. About 20 minutes into our trip from Phoenix to Flagstaff the car started to shake when breaking, and you could imagine how terrifying that is driving through the hills of Arizona. We called the 800 number to see if we could switch out the car and the women was rude and wanted us to drive even further in the unsafe car, as well as telling us we would be charged for the trip. She then proceeded to send us to Flagstaff Airport and assured us that there would be a car there waiting for us. I asked for a confirmation and she had said she was unable to give me one. With no other option we chose to trust her and head to Flagstaff, upon arriving they told us they never even received a call and they had absolutely no cars to rent us. So the women basically sent us on our way in an unsafe car knowing she hadn't checked if there was a car. Thomas was able to give us our money back so that we could rent a car from another company. I would not recommend calling the 1-800 number for Alamo, terribly rude and lied to us, sending us on our way in an unsafe car. read more
