1 Star - Avoid Budget at JAX Absolutely terrible experience with Budget Rent a Car at Jacksonville International Airport. Our flight was delayed, and we called Budget multiple times while traveling to notify them. Despite this, the employee still left and closed the counter, leaving us stranded at the airport with our young children in the middle of the night. We then spent three hours trying to get help on the phone. One representative told us to go pick up a car in Miami or Fort Lauderdale (200+ miles away). Another told us we should have notified them of a flight delay 24 hours in advance... which is obviously impossible. When the next shift employee arrived at 5 AM, he told us he couldn't help us until 6 AM, even though we had already been waiting for hours. Completely unacceptable customer service. Budget left a family with small children stranded overnight at the airport despite multiple calls notifying them of the delay. Rent somewhere else. read more

Avoid this location, there is one lady at the counter who is extremely rude & unprofessional. The other employees & manager both ignore and allow the behavior. They will also not have the class of vehicle that you book & you may be forced to alter your booking due to their shortages or service issues. If you do have issues with the car, I have seen them shrug & send you away without listening or attempting to help. Location may not be ideal but unfortunately, I highly recommend the baymeadows or airport locations over this one due the staff. read more

Waited over an hour at JAX airport Budget Car Rental. Despite having FastPass, was required to wait in line. At this major airport, there was ONLY 1 representative to address a line of at least 40 people. Every other car rental place had 2+ representatives......Strike 1. Finally received car but the previous renter CLEARLY SMOKED in this car. Budget's feeble attempt to cover the smell with perfume was a complete fail and made us nauseated. Strike 2. The windows were FILTHY and impaired our ability to see the road. Strike 3. We called customer support on day 1 only to be told a) we could go get it washed and be reimbursed (sorry, ain't doing their work for them) or b) go to the nearest Budget office to trade out the car. We opted to do this but we were told there were no cars. Strike 4 This is the 3rd and final time we will rent with Budget. Had same issues with previous cars in other cities but kept thinking it was a "one off"---- silly us. We've learned our lesson. Their prices are lower because they force their customers to sit in cars laden with others filth, rarely adequately address concerns of customers and are just plain sub par. Terrible experience after flying across country to Jacksonville, FL. There was a long line to get the car with one employee working. I finally get to the counter, and they don't have the car I rented weeks in advance, so I settled on another one. I was told to go to the parking garage to get the key. That was confusing and after dealing with a rude Budget employee, I finally got the key. The van smelled like wet/ mold, had 3/4 tank of gas and a chip in the windshield. Budget doesn't walk you to the vehicle so it can't be inspected with an employee, but lucky I did take pictures of the gas gauge and windshield, because the paperwork they emailed me after I got the van said it had a full tank of gas. I had no intention of waiting in a long line again to talk to an employee at the airport 10PM at night. While on my vacation, I wasted an hour of my time on the phone with Budget to make sure I wasn't going to get charged for retuning the van back without a full tank or the damage to the windshield. They assured me I wouldn't, and I sent the pictures via email as proof. After I returned the van, I received an invoice through email, and they charged me for gas. I had to emailed them again and tell them about the situation. I finally got charge on my credit card and there was no gas fee. Now, nearly two weeks after returning home, I get another bill for over $500 for the damaged to the windshield that I reported previously. So, I had to call Budget again and explain everything. After their customer service looked through the emails and correspondence I previously sent, and I'm told the charge will not go to my credit card. This is the worst experience ever with renting a car. I rented through Costco travel and Budget is their carrier. IMO, Costco needs to look for another provided, as I won't go through Costco travel again until they do. read more

Ray Adieh is the best. I don't know why there are any bad reviews for this business, but I was 110% satisfied with the assistance he provided with my problem. In April, I was staying in Jacksonville for a couple nights on my way down to Sarasota from Augusta, Georgia. I found out I needed the vehicle I had for two weeks instead of one. I had to extend my rental an extra week which meant changing the drop off from Sarasota airport the next day to Tampa airport a week later. I thought this was going to be a real problem logistically and monetarily until Ray took over. In 5 minutes, he not only printed out my new contract for the extended week, he got me the same price I paid on the original contract with no extra charge for switching drop off locations. I found out from talking to Ray that he had extensive experience in prior employment in the field of "logistics" (perfect for his present position). It was also good to find out he was a Budget Independent Operator which means he had a vested interest in customer satisfaction. Thanks again, Ray. read more

Never rent from budget rental cars especially this location. Management was rude and ruined Christmas for my family. They did not have the mid size suv I reserved and month earlier but she said I could come back later. I came back later that day but she offered me a dirty small car that had not been cleaned since the last rental when there was a Jeep Wrangler parked out front. Got there and all they had for us was a Hyundai Elantra. Not enough room, but we made do. Our car got fixed a day earlier than expected so we called to turn our rental in and we were told would still have to pay for the full time because we paid in advance. If we would have paid when we turned in our vehicle, we would have saved a whole days charges, but as we paid in full in advance we could not get what we paid for the day we did not use back. So basically we paid for a day we did not have the car, and because we turned the rental in early, they are able to re-rent it for the day we paid for. The car had a few scratches and dents that my husband took pics of before he left the lot. The inside passenger door was full of gunk. Really sticky and gross. Passenger side carpet was full of light colored sand. The 2 12v and USB plug-ins did not work at all, so we could not use our dash-cam or our music. I called to ask if we could get a break on the day we did not use and the representative kind of laughed and told us it says no refunds. If we could have been refunded for the extra day, We might not have complained, but since the car was nasty, yeah. Not going to use Budget or ANY of their affiliates ever again. When we turned the car in, they seemed unhappy that we used the AMAC and Groupon discounts. Suggestion... Just don't! read more

I rented a car from Budget to go out of town for the weekend. The place was busy on Saturday morning when I picked it up so they brought the car around that they cleaned. I jumped in the car and got on the road. I decided to make a pit stop before I got on the road at TJ Maxx. When I turned off the AC to the car I noticed a smell of smoke. Avoid renting from this place. I have had issues here on multiple occasions, and for the last time today. I reserved a 16' truck with a lift gate that I required for my business. I was supposed to pick up a truck at 9:30 am. At 9:20 I called to let them know I was running a little late. I was then told the lift gate on the truck I reserved wasn't working. When I asked when they were going to tell me that, since I was supposed to be there in 10 minutes, the store rep became EXTREMELY defensive. I questioned how he didn't know his inventory, and he said "I don't drive the trucks!" He very rudely told me that HE was refusing me service and cancelling my reservation, which obviously doesn't even matter cause he didn't even have a working truck for me. This was a horrible experience. I normally rent with U-haul, but chose budget because the person I spoke with over the phone at my requested drop off location for storage was very nice. To start with when I arrived at the pick-up location I was told repeatedly that they didn't have my truck. That the truck size I was asking for was already rented to others. After being persistent the guy then said I found your paperwork. He was extremely rude, short, and unpleasant throughout the entire process. He then tried to sell me the insurance. As I told him that I didn't want the insurance he then told me I needed to fill out a paper answering questions from my insurance company. I then returned the form signed declining the insurance. He continue to try to imply that the insurance was necessary, as well as contacting the insurance company. When the form clearly states "option" and "should". When he pulled around the truck after the walk around we asked if the dolly was in the truck. It is a good thing we did because the dolly was not in the truck even though I requested this on my reservation. He then reiterated the "suggestion" (since he knew now that I was aware that it was not necessary at this time) to get the insurance. My mom asked him "how much is it?" he said 29.99. So at this point she then said "okay we will take it". At this point she asked to pay for it in cash since she wanted to make sure I had it. Because I refused it. He then said that you can't pay for it in cash that it would be charged to the card for the purchase. At this time he also stated that the 150.00 deposit would be refunded at the time of closeout at the drop off location. The truck was filthy inside the cabin. The back of the truck had stuff left over from the previous move. As we assumed the truck was safe to drive we did not see anything wrong with leaving at a particular time. We didn't finish loading until lake so we didn't leave until after midnight. The truck road rough the whole way. The windshield wipers didn't work. The service engine light was on the whole time. The tires were so bald when we dropped off the truck they could believe we made it there safely. He told me to contact customer service. I called in to contact customer service with questions about why my deposit wasn't released. I was then told that my deposit wouldn't be released for 5-8 business days. I returned the truck 10/21 at 10:00am and still have yet to receive my deposit to my account. I was then told while on the phone with customer service that the insurance (that i never wanted in the first place) was 29.99 /day. Also, I was told since this was "3 day move package" that they charge me per day. First of all, I was told that it was 29.99 not per day. I returned the truck in 1 day! I also told them about the horrible customer service, and overall product quality. I spent over 2 hours on the phone with customer service just to be offered a 37.65 refund for ALL of my inconveniences. read more

I rented a trailer and a truck from this "company". We had a flat on the trailer. That was at 12 am. As you can see by the time on this post. We are still sitting here in the side of 95 semis just whizzing by shaking both the car and trailer. I could have made my destination and been back on my way to Maryland by now. If I could give less than a zero rating I would. Poorly maintained trucks, zero assistance setting up the car trailer, and now almost 6 hours on the side of the road. I won't ever use this company again and I would urge anyone thinking about it to use UHaul or anyone else. I truly appreciate it and it made a huge difference how I view the company, I am much more likely to use their services again, but the customer service at the airport desk needs to match the service I got through their social media team. I picked up a vehicle here and I had to stop and fill all of the tires at the gas station near the rental agency, I just assumed the maintenance was not kept up on the rental fleet as usual. After driving for approximately 3 hours I had to again stop and fill the passenger rear tire with air. I assumed then that the tire had a slow leak. I had to continually stop every 3 or 4 hours to fill the tire. When I reached my destination I called the number for service on the rental agreement and I was told I could do 1 of 3 things: 1. return the car to the nearest agency 35 miles away for a replacement; 2. have the tire repaired and Budget would reimburse me for the cost or 3. replace the tire at my own cost. I decided I would return the car the next day due to the agency being closed for the day. When I got up in the morning the tire was almost flat and was not safe to drive on. I decided to change the tire and proceed to the nearest Budget for replacement. Unfortunately there was no spare tire in the vehicle, who rents a vehicle with no spare?? I then called the roadside assistance again and was told they would replace the car and it would be approximately 90 minutes until they arrived with the replacement, to which I agreed. After waiting 5 1/2 hours the car finally arrived. I had missed all of my appointments for the day. Upon entering the new vehicle the tire low pressure light was on as well as the maintenance required light. I looked in the cars manual and found the maintenance light was for an oil change so I then proceeded to the nearest gas station for air, 3 of the tires were low and one had 46 lbs of air in it. Due to my missed appointments on Friday I was forced to extend my stay through the weekend and reschedule my appointments for Monday. The trip delay cost me $150. extra for the car, $450. extra for the hotel plus the cost of meals for the weekend. To make matters worse I just got a bill for $162 in the mail to repair the tire! I did not get the nice gentleman's name that helped me with my vehicle return ,but it was very nice that he had a great attitude right when the doors open at 7am .He was very informative and took care of all my concerns . I will never use Budget again. I had made a reservation to rent a 12' truck a full month ahead of time. Once I arrived to pick up the truck, the gentleman behind the counter RUDELY told me they didn't have a 12' truck for me, but I could rent a 16' truck instead. I was moving a small amount of furniture into Atlanta where traffic isn't the easiest to maneuver around, so 16 feet was far too large; honestly 12 feet was already on the larger side for what I needed. I left this location and called customer service to find a truck elsewhere in the city. The costumer service rep told me the inventory manager would be giving me a call within 15 minutes. I never received a call. Worst truck rental experience I have ever had. I strongly recommend using U-Haul or another competitor that actually cares about customers. read more
