Worst customer service ever. Booked 'Hertz manager specials,' day before, using our corporate account. Uber up to location with my daughter, 15 minutes before our scheduled time. Total chaos, not sure who actually worked there, waited about 20 minutes and finally get told, there is no vehicles left. 8:45 AM. Disheveled young man, with beard, claiming to be manager tells me, it's my fault for waiting until last minute (booked 14 hours prior). Claims they tried calling me and left message (no phone calls). Despite having 2 emails verifying the rental, one at 4pm prior day, and another at midnight. Had to walk to Enterprise who actually had customer service saved the day. Don't fall for the Hertz manager specials, total scheme. read more

A few weeks back I went to this location to pick up a vehicle that I had already reserved and paid for a week prior. Pick up time was set for 12P and I arrived at 1:45P. Late due to prior engagements and traffic. Upon arrival, the Atlantic Blvd location manager, Evan Mullen, advised me that my reserved and paid for vehicle was no longer available because he rented it to another customer. When asked why he released my reserved and paid for vehicle, he stated it was because I was not there for pick up by 12P. When asked why he did not hold it, seeing how no call was made to me to confirm I was still coming and also because I ALREADY PAID FOR It, all he could do was look at me blankly and stated that he had too many people to call, and that I was not there by 12P, implying that it was my fault that he released a pre-paid for vehicle to another customer. When asked if this was Hertz policy and practice and where in the order documents does it state this policy, he was unable to provide an answer or any document reflecting this policy. All he offered was a blank look. When asked again, he stated that it was store policy. Evan offered no resolution, compensation, refund, or at the very least an apology for the situation and inconvenience he placed me in. The level of empathy or accountability offered was zero. The level of incompetence this person displayed truly left me at a loss for words. Evan should not be a location manager. To put this in perspective, I still needed to drive another 2 hours+ to another city to start a much needed vacation and to celebrate a birthday. THANKS EVAN FOR LEAVING ME STRANDED! I finally had to suggest to Evan to reach out to other locations to see if they can fulfill the reservation because apparently that solution did not cross his mind. Evan was able to direct me to another location 30 minutes (due to traffic) away. I will never go to the Atlantic Blvd location again and nor will I ever recommend that location. I left, highly dissatisfied, frustrated, and an hour further behind schedule. read more

The car was fine. The customer service at this location is not. I came in to drop off my rental. Three employees sitting at their stations, no one greeted me. I literally had to drop my keys on the counter to get a reaction. All three of them saw me and continued to have their conversation, as if a customer wasn't present. A fourth employee came out during my checkout process, he was the only who actually asked me how was my experience. I don't know his name, but he has salt and pepper hair. read more

He took the time to listen and write down exactly what we needed when I called in for a rental that was needed right away. I was relieved to see him in person when we got there. Their office was very busy that day but I made sure I waited for him. As promised, he had what we discussed. Was very clear on going over everything with us and walked outside to check over the vehicle. He was patient & friendly and acted like he enjoyed his job. Had a reservation booked and went to location to pick up car and they told me they only had electric cars. Could not honor my reservation. I had to rebook for Jax airport location and my price doubled immediately and inconvenienced pick up and drop off location. I'm a gold member with presidential status and felt like I was rated zero. Now Hertz is overcharging my credit card for use of rental while my car was being repaired. Deposit of $50.00 was charged to my credit card. It was to be refunded when car returned. An employee named Sasha, is the person who issued the rental, but is little to no help! She offered me a receipt! No explanation for overcharge's. I had been issued two cars. The first a Nissan Rogue that had issues (dirty, AC, not working. So, the first car was replaced with a Chevrolet, Equinox. I filled both cars to specified gas requirements. And have pictures. Sasha was dumbfounded without a clue on how to resolve the problem. Like I stated, she offered me a receipt. But wouldn't intervene even though she was responsible for the misinformation. Specifically did not choose an electric vehicle, get to pick up my car today. Thats all they had available unless i wanted to upcharged another $150. Didn't state any of this when i made reservation. Told me there would be a lot of electric charging stations i could find through the app (took me over an hour to find one), vehicle died within an hour of having it. The employee without asking put the car in my dads name but it was under my insurance so the car had to be in my name. Horrible customer service They charged me $200 more than my agreement said. Once i start to inquire they were really rude as if i was trying to pull a fast one. Although my contract clearly stated including taxes and everything $1248 I was charged $1486. They did some discounts and acted as if they were doing me a favor (the discounts equaled to $1486) The manager at the location said she would be using this as a training experience for her employees. This doesn't help me at all. At one point the lady at the front desk said "what do you want me to do?" Lol I don't know... your job? The manager also said it was busy Monday morning as if me trying to figure where a magic $300 came from shouldn't be in question Pretty much even though i have a contract. Even though they confirmed the price on the phone call. Car extension rates are not guaranteed. I also kept the car for one day extra after calling hertz number telling them my return date location is closed. They said just return it first thing next day. I asked will i be charged extra? They said no. I called the location several times Saturday where google says they were open. They weren't. My return day was on Sunday which they were closed so i brought first thing Monday 8am. I also asked if i can be dropped off at the next hertz which was a 14 minute drive , the website says they will anything under 15 minutes. Lady at front desk says they don't go past 5 miles. I show her the website and again she got rude. I left never wanting to rent from there. Hertz is actually one of the better rental companies just not this location. Well, that most certainly wasn't my experience with Hertz. I booked my reservation online with a rate I was happy with considering it was the 4th of July weekend, and 2 (!!) confirmation emails, one right after I booked, and the second the day before the pick up. I called the branch multiple times to make sure that things would go smoothly, and they were pleasant. Well, lo and behold, we arrived there promptly Saturday 9 AM, and were asked to wait even though there was a rep that was free. When we eventually got to the counter, my reservation wasn't in the system. Say what?! Eventually, they got it in the system, without checking if I could get a better rate (which I could, $50 cheaper, but I deviate). We got to the paying stage and they said "the credit card company declined the transaction". Called my bank for an explanation, but they said they never even got a request for the funds. I hate this back and forth. Hertz wouldn't let me pay any other way, with any other card, and casually said I can pay an extra $300 to put the reservation in my brother's name, who's under 25. Yeah, that's not happening. And in the end, I'm not happy, not satisfied, and most definitely not eager to be back. read more

Worst Hertz to rent from. Waited 45 minutes to pick up my vehicle that was suppose to be ready at noon and it was 12:45 when they handed it to me with the excuse that they had to clean and sanitize it. Yet I found a tablet and water bottle under the front passenger seat. Really good cleaning they gave that car. Had a mishap myself and forgot the kids stroller and car seats in the back never got a call that I had left them in the minivan and when I went to pick up the item they had put them in the dumpster. Lied to me on the phone saying that they had them in the lost and found. I guess the dumpster is the new lost and found. Then the day i was supposed to pick up the van at 2PM they said they didnt have a car available. Recently rented a car at this location through a Progressive Insurance claim. Everything went smoothly until I returned the car. Not 5 min after I left did I get a call saying that I smoked in the car and that I would be charged $300. I DO NOT SMOKE let me repeat I DO NOT SMOKE. Melissa the local manager was very accuistory and unhelpful. When I requested to speak to the regional manager, Derek Cason, I was told I would revieve a call. No response. When I picked up the car I trusted that the car was up to spec and I did not need to go through the car with a fine tooth comb. I will not make this mistake again. I rented a Nissan Versa from a manager named Wade on 10-22-18. It had been hit on the driver's side front near headlight and there were a number of big scratches around the car. I told him that they are hard on their cars. I pointed out the big stuff and then he proceeded to take pictures around the car. Two days later on the 24th I dropped off my car. After a min and a half of them walking around and inspecting it for damages, Luis told me I put a crack in the windshield near the dash. It was 1cm, smaller than the size of a dime, and would never have shown up on the before pictures taken by Wade. I told them that I would've known if this happened since I've only cracked one windshield in my entire life and doubt this happened in 3 days. I then asked to see the before picture. The manager Melyssa said it was blurry, had a glare, and that when you zoomed in, it got worse. She had no way to prove that it was not there prior from the pictures they took. They had me sign a form stating there was a crack in my windshield even though I told them I did not do it. A young lady drove me over to pick up my car from Osteens. She asked if they had sent me before pictures. I told her they had not and she said that Wade preaches that you are supposed to send before pictures to the customer and that he doesn't take his own advice. I got out of the car I had rented that she drove me over in, and took photos of the rental car from different distances to prove that there is no way they can tell me it wasn't there before with the pictures they took. You would've had to be less than a foot away. She asked to see my pictures and when I handed her my phone, she deleted all the photos off my personal phone that I had just taken stating that I could not take photos of the car after I had checked it out. I went back to Hertz asking for pictures to be emailed. They emailed them, but you could not zoom in or make them bigger. They also added to the email "resend" as if I was asking for them the 2nd time. I checked my spam, inbox, and trash and they were never sent originally when I checked out the car. I then asked for printed copies of the photo and the manager Melyssa went into her office, closed the door, and returned 15min later stating her printer was down. She stated that she would use "airport technology" to look at the picture in more detail and we would discuss in two days. She never called me but charged my insurance company for something I told them I did not do nor could they prove. I called Corporate Hertz to complain and spoke with Stephanie. She said the district manager would call me. I repeated my phone number to her twice and they never called either. I called Enterprise to see if they would have charged me for a crack they couldn't prove and they said it would've had to be the size of a quarter in order to charge the customer. Everything in me tells me this place is dishonest and that they are scamming us. They put a claim against my insurance company even though the entire time I insisted it was not me. Please do not use them. This is the first and only negative review I've ever written. Everything about them screams dishonesty and poor customer service. read more

DO NOT EVER USE HERTZ!! They are the worst rental company. I got out here to Jacksonville FL. Because my Godfather needs a liver transplant. Staying at The Inn at The Mayo Clinic. I reserved a rental car in the Atlantic office and was told that they would pick me up..They never even bothered showing up!! I didn't even get a call to say they're sorry..called their branch on Beach Blvd. the next day n got a ride over there. When I get there, they charged me more for the same vehicle I had reserved at the store in Atlantic. That wasn't even the bad part..the guy Chris who helped me there asked me if I wanted to get insurance. I ask him how much the full coverage ins. will cost. He tells me $50 dollars a day. I tell him that doesn't even make any sense that if I'm paying only $22.00 a day for the car, how can the ins. be $50 dollars?? He gives me a bs reason. I decline the ins. and tell him that I have full coverage ins. and that my ins. policy extends to my rentals. Chris acts all pissed off.. He walks me out to my rental n hands me the key. Doesn't even bother walking me around the vehicle that has dents n dings all over it. I was an ins. agent prior getting into real estate n rent enough rental cars to know that they ARE suppose to walk u around the vehicle n have u point out any dents or dings on the car so that u will not be held liable n responsible for those damages when u bring the car back (Especially when u decline their ins.). I open the car door n realize that it smells of stale cigarettes. I was already annoyed n wanted to get out of there..I am not a smoker n when I'm around cigarette smoke..I get light headed n dizzy spells. I don't want to make it worst so I try to turn the ac on n sat in their parking lot hoping that the smell would clear up. I decided to take a chance n started driving off. I barely got down the street n the smell got worse. I turned right back n decided I needed to give them the car back n try n get another one. Chris argued w me that the car didn't smell n that he couldn't smell cigarettes in there. He asked another one of their employers to go smell the car..N she said that yes the car smelled like cigarettes. He told me he would have to call other stores n get one brought out to me n I would have to sit there n wait some more. I asked to speak to a supervisor n he told me the supervisor would not be back anytime soon. I sat outside because by now I had spent 3 hrs there trying to get a rental..n yet I'm still sitting there waiting. They had plenty of cars in the lot but made me sit there n wait. About another 1/2 hr hoes by n then his supervisor comes back. I explained the situation n instead of being apologetic about it n trying to do what he can to make me happy he tells me I'll have to wait some more so that they can call around other locations to look for another car for me. I'm furious by then because I've rented enough rentals to know that they can make u happy n upgrade u into another car for the same price for the inconvience . I tell them I don't want to wait any longer n that I'm leaving n to refund me my $650.00 they took out of my card. The supervisor then tells me he had to charge me for a day because I took the car . At that moment I decided to leave n walk to Enterprise Rental down the street m called my bank to let them know what had happened n that I was disputing that transaction. The walk to Enterprise calmed me down.. I was able to get in a better car for less then what Hertz was going to charge me . I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!! They suck big time !!! Do not use this local edition. They are liars and thieves. I was driving an insurance loaner car. The Hertz local edition people told me when I was driven to their location to get my rental car that to return the car I would hand the keys to the service adviser at the collision center when I returned the rental car to the collision center and picked up my repaired car. The Hertz driver who picked me up told me this. The person who did the paperwork when I got the car told me this. The day I was dropping off the Hertz car, I called the Hertz local edition and told them the car was being returned to the collision center that day. They said fine, they'd send someone to pick it up. I gave the keys to the service adviser and he gave me the keys to my car. I thought I was done. Doesn't it sound like I was done to you? Well, then Hertz charged my credit care for an additional 7 days. And, claimed that I had kept the rental car even though my car had been repaired. LIARS! My insurance company and the collision center confirmed that I had returned the car the same day as I had picked up my repaired car. Now, I have to wait until they get around to refunding the over-charge. Liars and thieves. Do not rent with them. How many people have they scammed before this? It appears that is is worth the try and hope to get someone who won't follow thru on getting the false charges reversed. Just go somewhere else. read more

We should be able to put NO stars for companies like this! We had a cruise out of Jacksonville. I had rented a car to drive around before our cruise but after the cruise we needed a can to drive down to Miami more comfortably. Since Hertz advertises that they pick up from the cruise port we decided to go with them because of that. We came off our boat and called to be picked up they said they would be there in 20 minutes. 45 minutes went by and I called again, they said the guy was trying to get into the port that security was holding him back. Mind u we could see the gate and there were no cars! So we waited another 20 minutes went by and I called again, they would pick up the phone and hang it u!! Who does that?! So I called corporate and they tell me when they called the office that there was an answer and that the driver was dropping off someone before picking us up! So he wasn't at the gate obviously! That really pissed me off! We still had to drive to miami and we were leaving the next day so this wait was killing our time in Miami! I called again and they took my number to have the driver call me when he was near...WTF! They had been telling me the whole time he was on his way and now I know they lied and there was no one on their way! 45 minutes after that the guy shows up. I'm pissed and the guy is telling me how he had to drop off someone before us and that the boss wanted that person dropped off before us even though it was closer to get us from the beginning. I walk in and ask for the manager and I tell him he ridiculousness of the wait. He tells me nonchalantly that it's first come first serve. I tell him so you lie? To those who aren't first? He walked away and said he was busy with another customer that he would give me a discount on my NEXT rental with them!! What good does that do me? I never want to use this company ever again! The can was all beat up and smelled like cigarette! It was so gross! That's not the worst of it. There was barely any gas! We pointed it out and all the dents too. The guy wrote them down and I took pictures. We returned the car at FLL airport. When we arrived we were charged twice what I had reserved the car for. I almost blew a gasket! I showed them my agreement and find out the $200 was for the gas. Mind u we brought it with exactly the same amount of gas the van had when we got it. Their records showed they had given it to me with a full tank! I gave them the carbon copy that I had which stated it has 1/8 of gas! Apparently it didn't matter what the cc had, what they enter on the computer is what counts. Oh my god! I told them to figure it out but I wasn't paying a penny over what I had reserved it for. They fixed it and I was charged what I expected but then just a week ago which is a month and a half after, we get $15 charge for a toll fee! We paid cash at every toll road, there was no way we should be charged. LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, I always say the thrifty sixt and dollar and was always scared to go there thinking I would be more likely to get jipped there but our initial rental was with thrifty and it was the most pleasant experience. This was the worst car rental experience ever! Waited in line for over 30 minutes to get the car, the car was dirty with Dog hair and a dog biscuit in the back seat (obviously car was never cleaned). Never had a sorry for the wait, or anything from the staff. The manager seemed to have to stop and answer questions the whole time he was "helping" me. The smell of wet dog was so strong during the whole trip I had. When I went back to get rid of the car, there was no one at the counter. Even the Hertz sales staff were HORRIBLE. No one said sorry. I asked one guy if I could just leave the keys and paperwork somewhere and go and he said no.. that they should be back soon but didn't know where there were. Then he kept avoiding eye contact while we just stood there waiting. I called the number on their sign that said they would be back in 15 minutes but it was busy. When I finally got someone it sounded like they were in the bathroom and he said they would message someone to come up there. No one came. I walked to the back to see if someone was "washing" cars but no one was around. I called the number again, he said that someone will be up shortly but I should just leave the keys with someone there (I thought I wasn't supposed to do that). Then we asked for a regional number and they all said no, we don't have one. Umm.. all those places have a corporate or regional manager.
