I'll start by stating that this was the best moving experience I've ever had. This company is a unicorn as far as Phoenix local area movers are concerned. They arrived a little late, but they subtracted out the tardiness and their breaks. Nothing arrived at the new home broken or damaged. They plastic wrapped my furniture items and put pads up on the walls of the staircases. In addition, none of my things ended up missing. Also, there were a couple of instances where they landed an item in the wrong room in the new home and they moved it to the correct room without the attitude you sometimes get from other companies. I've moved a few times in my lifetime and as you know, moving day is stressful. This was the least stressful move I've ever had, props to Budget Movers and their top notch work ethic from the initial phone conversation to their departure. Did not have a good experience with this business. We had 3 movers come out to move our stuff and they broke multiple items. I told them multiple times to be careful with certain glass pieces and they clearly didn't listen. When we were going to leave to follow the truck we saw all this broken glass behind it and realized they had broken a couple things. The movers didn't say anything until I mentioned it. They were trying to just ignore and hide the fact that they broke the glass cover to our table. They also dropped a glass lamp and dropped a whole container of crate and barrel glass ornaments. The worst part was that I called the owner to get some money back for the damages and he argued with me over the cost! I barely got $50 out of him. The damages was at least $300. They broke probably 20 glass ornaments (crate and barrel ornaments are $7-10). I couldn't believe how much the owner wanted to argue with me about the cost of what was broken. The $50 he gave back to me was honestly insulting. Get some perspective on how much things cost. Completely dishonest company. I would never work with them again. read more

Scheduling was a breeze and the communication was transparent. Jim was very helpful coordinating my move. Something happened with my closing the day of moving and I needed to reschedule last minute. Jim was able to accommodate the new schedule. There were 2 movers as what fit my needs, they arrived in the time frame provided. These guys really came through for me in my time of need! I had another moving company booked 3 weeks prior and was called the morning if the move to be told that their driver would not be able to make the move possible that day due to a death in the family. It was a very unfortunate situation, but understandable. I must have called 15 places before Jim and Budget Movers and nobody was able to accommodate us. I explained to Jim what had happened and he was more than willing to see if he could help. I can't say enough good things about this company. Scheduling the move itself was hassle free and I was given an accurate quote with no hidden fees or surprises when the movers showed up. I grossly underestimated the size of the UHaul I rented but the movers were very strategic about packing the truck and with the exception of a TV and one box, were able to get all of my belongings inside without damaging or breaking a single item. Unpacking was no easy feat- 3 flights of a stairs and a loft is not for the faint of heart or unexperienced. Nevertheless, the guys hustled and were able to get everything unloaded in the two hour time frame they gave me. I have never had a better experience with a moving company and would highly recommend them to anyone. If you are looking for a stress free move, look no further. read more

I hired them for the minimum required 2 hours and they charged me for the two hours. I said I mainly just needed help with big stuff, but if we finished early I could use their help moving small stuff. So they just moved the big stuff which took a little over an hour and then they left with out completing the two hours of service I paid for. Additionally, even more problematic, they tore both edges of my leather couch. Which I didn't notice immediately in the chaos of moving. I would recommend not using this company. read more

We recommend Budget Movers, especially to people moving to AZ from out of state (we came from IL). We also recommend Budget on large moves involving luxury level furniture and decorative items. We used Budget twice in the last year...first on a major move-in to our Scottsdale residence with furniture from our Chicago Gold Coast apartment. Budget coordinates with the mover in your city to accept your shipment here in Phoenix to handle the local move. They can combine teams as well. Second was a large furniture install of a shipment that came from Europe through the Port of Los Angeles. We coordinated Budget with this shipment to receive it at our Scottsdale residence and install it. On both occasions the crews were superlative. The first install was led by our Chicago mover Alliance Moving supplemented by two Budget crew members. The second install was all Budget led by Don Frey who has been with Budget a long time. Don and his crew were careful, detail-oriented, and a pleasure to interact with. We had no damage and they cleaned up all refuse in thorough fashion. They were very patient in considering different placements of rugs and furniture and made recommendations. We feel we got white give service. Finally, we note that 5* rated Alliance Moving in the Chicagoland area highly recommended Budget Movers in the Phoenix area and told us they are their go to movers on the AZ end of all their moves. From the first contact until our goodbye's as we moved our daughter back to California from Scottsdale AZ, we had the PERFECT experience. I just feel badly how long overdue this review is. Jim was wonderful on the phone and I felt completely confident that he and his team were competent to get the job done. My two man team, Sean and Joseph, arrived on time and ready to roll, when Sean wasn't sure the content of the apartment would fit properly in the size truck we rented, even though the size was recommended by UHaul. Sean jumped in to action and contacted his office and from there, they were willing to move appointments around, giving us time to exchange the truck and only charged us 30 minutes of work. Sean wanted me to know that they would take good care of us and not to worry. Joseph and Sean were so kind and polite and kept assuring me they were prepared for these types of situations. I only wish they actually moved out of state, I certainly would have had them drive all the way to California and unload on the other end. These guys were awesome. I have used them 4 times now, twice packing and twice unloading. Each time I had two movers come that were very polite and conscientious of taking care of the furniture and items they were loading/unloading. They took about 3 hours to fully load and unload a large truck. On my first usage, the owner actually came out and was 1 of the 2 movers working! Speaks volumes that the owner is willing to get his hands dirty in a business that he started from his own experience as a loader. I had forgotten to take apart a large pottery barn bed frame and a crib from IKEA, they swiftly disassembled the both and then reassembled both once they unloaded (for a small additional cost). Really pleasant, hardworking operation for an unbeatable price. I recommend these guys to everyone I know that is looking for movers. read more

I used Budget Movers three times in a year, due to some difficult and unfortunate events. I can honestly say that these guys are the best value in town. They aren't the cheapest, but they are definitely one of the lower cost movers overall - and the best value. They are extremely professional and careful. Michael and Rich are great, and Jim, the owner, helped with one of my moves and I could tell that the company really cares about their customers. Michael even helped me fix a jammed drawer on a piece of furniture - and it wasn't their fault it was jammed. These guys hustle! They are a well-oiled machine. This is the second time I have used this company to move. And let me be honest. I have soooo much stuff. I have a 1 year old and I was really not as prepared as I would have liked. I was stressed with a teething baby that wouldn't let me pack. These guys came over and literally helped tape undone boxes and box things that weren't boxed and jigsawed all of my stuff in my truck somehow. The crew was awesome.....especially Don. He had a funny sense of humor and came back the next day when I know they didn't have a space for us. He even helped me pick stuff up afterword when the other guys were tired and needed to go home. This company is lucky to have such a hard working crew. I wish I had used them on all 4 of my moves. Can i give this place 6 stars? What a great company. The crew showed up on time, with a call 30 min ahead. They had all the tools and knowhow to move a 3300 sq/ft 2 story house into another 3000 sq/ft 2 story house in one day. They totally killed it! In addition you couldnt ask for a nicer group of guys. After reading several reviews of different moving companies, I scehduled with Budget due to their good reviews, BBB ratings and fixed price. Overall, it was really an excellent experience. Normally I move my TV's myself, but after getting the first one in the car, I asked if they would wrap my others and they said "Of course." Quite a bit of care was taken with my furniture, as well as smaller items and pictures... including plastic wrapping and blankets to keep everything protected. My bed and dresser/mirror were taken apart and re-assembled at the other end. Plus, they had 4 wardrobe boxes for me to use, so I could simply empty my linen closet and bedroom closets easily and unpack them while my furniture was being unloaded. So easy and handy! The 3 men worked hard, only stopping once for a quick break. Considering it was August and 100 degrees, I felt the 10 minute break was well-deserved. Additionally, the men were quick and efficient. I will not hesitate to use this company in the future. I'd definitely recommend the Monday thru Thursday special to save a few bucks too! (They have 2 men and 3 men rates available.) read more

First of all, moving is no fun - no matter who your movers are. I found this company on Yelp and gave them a call after all of the great reviews. Jim, the owner, answered the phone and was immediately comforting and helpful. He admitted that they wouldn't be the cheapest price we could find, but it also was cheaper than others I had called. I would call it fair and honest. The 3-man crew worked so hard, and yet never lost their positive and respectful attitude. Of course, I moved in August, so it was miserably hot. I felt so bad for them, but they never stopped. They were very mindful of our time and were careful and concerned about doing the job right and with care. They always greeted us with a smile and addressed us as 'yes ma'am and sir". I don't know how they do this every day - they definitely earned our respect! I was in a quandry because I needed a mover and my track record of picking an honest and reasonable one has not been stellar! I like the word "Budget", read some reviews and requested a quote. Within 5 minutes I had a call from Jim, the owner. My problem was I needed the service the next day as the company I had previously used left me in a lurch. Jim told me, yes the had availability and gave me a reasonable quote, he gave me the number to call his wife to book it which I did. The next morning, right on the dot, Don and Joe showed up. Now my major experience with movers is they are in no rush when charging by the hour, but these two were amazing. I hired this company because of the great reviews that i saw here on yelp.The owner Jim is the one who responds to the emails and phone calls. He was very upfront about the costs and extra charges (Stair Charges- living on second floor of an apartment complex) as well as a fuel surcharge fee. The movers arrived on time and moved very quickly. They were very careful with my items and were very courteous. Honestly, I was surprised how quickly these guys moved given their age...it was pretty impressive! I moved from Avondale to Chandler and the guys trailed behind us on the treck to my new apartment. The only strange thing was we sat and waited for 45 minutes at my new apartment waiting for them to arrive. It turns out they decided to take a lunch while on the road? Which is kind of strange... but they did not charge us for the extra hour that it took them to arrive at my new home. I had a few broken dishes that i noticed while unpacking but hey... things happen right (not a big deal). Maybe I didn't pad them good enough? I budgeted about $550 for the move but it was only $365. Budget Movers were awesome. They were supposed to be there at 8am. Just when I was calling to find out when they coming, Jim, the owner was calling me. Some of his guys had overslept but they were on their way. Jim reassured me that that was not a common practice. They arrived at 9:15, and by 9:30 had started. Paul and Rocky were very polite, respectful, did everything I asked and then some. It took longer than I expected, but I was happy they were there. This is overdue. I've used Budget several times. These guys are such hard workers and I really think they go above and beyond. Each team works differently to move items so you definitely have to extend some trust with whoever shows up but I've never had any issues with lost items or damage. They've been good with being careful. And I've had teams move my piano up and down two flights of stairs. As well as a rare dresser mirror. The first time they impressed me was being available after other movers stiffed me and also being available late into the night to help move stuff to a storage unit after a regular move. I remember thinking, "I don't know of other storage movers that would still be working at this time, for real" This second (or third, I swear I've used them more than twice it feels like) time, they were able to book me within a few days and the team worked really hard to put my stuff where I wanted it in the apartment and helped me be as OCD as I wanted to be about certain items. i got reccommended this company from a co-worker and found the experience less than satisfied. Movers showed up late and later tried to bill for the hour claiming they were there. Their original estimate was 4 hours and it took them over 7. Two of the movers worked, one did not and looked homeless, smelled bad and got his dirty hands on my clean expensive sofa while claiming his hands were 'clean'. Later after a ridiculous 1.5hr wait at the storage facility, after their "half hr break" they finally showed up. When the hand written, messy, illegible invoice arrived, I was again charged for materials I did not ask for and time they did not work. I am disputing them with my charge company. You can do better, they can't even do simple addition. If you want to pay over 1,000 for a move that should cost 400, call these geniuses. read more

This review was from our move in August 2016. I originally posted it in December but due to an account snafu with my Yelp email it didn't post: This was our first move which necessitated a professional mover, and I was extremely anxious about choosing a company and entrusting them with our stuff. Yelp reviews helped me pick this company, along with a few people we knew that used them (including the owners of the home we were moving into). I saw that the owner, Jim, responded to the Yelp comments in a constructive way which was encouraging (he must care, right?). He also personally responded to our initial inquiry which is more than I can say about the other companies we contacted. Day 1 - Packing Day - Jim sent out two people to pack up our 3 bedroom house. They did a good job packing breakables and marking boxes. I had previously packed and moved breakables that I didn't want anyone to move, but they did pack our entire kitchen without any damage. They told me they'd be back the next day, and that I could direct where everything would go in the new house. I don't think they stayed long enough to pack, since on day 2 the movers still had to do a lot of packing. Day 2 - Move Day - Three completely different movers showed up. This was not a major issue as two of them were great, and they placed our items wherever we wanted them. However, one mover was visibly annoyed that the packing was not finished, hastily completed the packing without any markings on the boxes (which would cause days of headaches as we unpacked), was rude when I made requests regarding placement of our boxes and furniture, and eventually got into a verbal altercation with me. I called Jim regarding this employee, and he promptly met with me. He removed the employee from the job and took his place to finish the move. Jim and I talked at the end of the day and he took ownership of the issues I had and by his great attitude, I have to believe he took action to ensure these issues didn't happen again. We were told upfront about the costs for wardrobe boxes, stair charges, etc. There were no surprises on the final bill, and it was about what I expected. Jim presented me with the bill personally and made sure I understood all of the charges and answered all of my questions. One of our dressers had a crushed corner which we noticed a few days after the move. We were not notified of the damage, yet we noticed the pieces were epoxied back into place. I was upset at the deception. I contacted Jim about our options, and within a week or so Jim had scheduled a furniture restorer to make the repair. He did a great job with the repair, and Jim contacted me after to make sure I was satisfied. I felt no matter what issues came up during the move, Jim was going to be open and attentive to make sure we received good customer service. My daughter still marvels at how fast and professionally Jim re-assembled her loft bed. I don't think I could have expected anything more, and I'm happy we chose Budget Movers. I would give 5-stars had it not been for the abusive employee and not fully disclosing the furniture damage to us when it occurred. read more

Budget was recommended by a friend who used them previously and has them as a client. The three man crew showed up on time and immediately got to work. I was impressed with their thoughtfulness and planning as they surveyed the entire unit before starting. The crew was very efficient and took great care with all of the pieces that were moved. In four hours of work, they only asked to take one break. Once they finished moving everything, one of the guys offered to help repair my entertainment center, which had a broken support leg from an incident that happened three years ago. Definitely something most movers would not do. As for the cost, I found the hourly rate to be very competitive, if not better than the market average. The owner was also spot on with the time estimate and his calculation that I would end up saving money by selecting a three man crew, so my bill was exactly as expected. Moving day made breezy easy! Like for real!!! I did have everything packed up already, but the guys came with their furniture pads and dollies and got it all moved in just 2 hours!!! I will never move myself again after this experience!!! I priced out a truck, with helpers on each end, and some other moving companies. (with gas and mileage the self truck was about the same price!) Budget Movers came in somewhere in the middle- and boy it was worth it! The men that came were a little early, friendly, professional, and took great care of my stuff! All I really had to do was put my plants, cat and me in my car and BOOM! Budget Movers did the rest! They even set up my furniture! I've only been in my new home about 5 days, but I am almost unpacked already!
