Horrible, horrible, horrible service. Sitting and waiting and waiting and I have "Fast Break" service. Just might be the worst car rental experience in the world. Reserved car. They could not find reservation. Then could not find the car. Then said it was on the way but never was on the way. So we sit and wait. Confusing lines. Sent me to one line and then another. If I could give them a zero I would. We booked our car 6 months in advance. When we arrived, we were helped out quite quickly and told to wait in the area and someone would bring they key to us. We checked in after 45 minutes and were told it would be 15-20 more minutes. after another 20 minutes we checked in again to be told that they couldn't tell us when a car would be available. At the same time they told us that no one else had cars available so it wouldn't make sense to cancel. We then went to Enterprise and were able to rent a vehicle immediately and were out within 10 minutes. Budget did cancel the reservations without any cost, but it was incredibly frustrating and a huge waste of time. Notably, there were also many other people waiting for vehicles at the same time and looking at these reviews, it seems that this is very common. read more

I'm sure nobody working at a car rental business loves their life but the people who work here not only hate their lives, they hate everyone who enters the business. We came to drop off our car that we rented in LA and there are no clear signs on where to park. We pulled past the tiny parking lot where a man was washing cars and he started grunting and complaining and saying we need to park it in the parking lot. There is a total of 10 spots in the "parking lot" and all of them were full. We double parked and when I came in to drop the keys, the lady working the desk didn't even blink. While she was helping another customer, she was not speaking to him or didn't even say hi. I asked her if they needed to inspect the car, give me a receipt, literally nothing. Oh and the kicker is there are no gas stations anywhere near so if they are about to close and you need to fill up the car, there's nowhere convenient. read more

Rented a truck in advance, was told $29.99 + mileage. Asked twice about pick up time, and was misinformed. My movers had to stand around for an hour. We had everything loaded, transported to the thrift store and the truck back within an hour. Around 3 mile trip. Received a receipt for $175. Went in to question the bill next day, and the door was locked, even though sign posted said open at 8am on Mondays. Returned later, and asked for bill explanation, and advised the employee about the hours conflict. This person is became very confrontational, and I finally had to yell at him to stop. I rented a Budget moving truck for one day and the truck was not safe as the steering wheel was unsteady. The truck's air conditioner was not blowing cool air when outside temperature was 102 degrees. I was charged with two days of insurance coverage when Donald, the customer representative said that I would get one day refund if I used it for one day. I have used Budget In The past and was very pleased. This time we needed to extend and wanted to speak to someone locally. I called the number listed in the paperwork and it kept transferred me to a "budget Representative" this obviously was outsourced to India or the like. They gave me another number to call which I did but it again took me to the same budget reps in India. The second time I called I explained about how the automation process on the phone kept directing me back to them. I was told not to enter any prompts or say anything which it just ended up hanging up in me. I was unable to reach anyone at the Palm Desert location which is unacceptable. read more

We Rent a truck every year for a charity event. This year under the new franchisee owners, I received a call two hours before I was supposed to pick up the truck and told I would have to get one elsewhere because they did not have one. We ended up spending $150 more to get a truck. I then received a $50 no-show fee on my credit card from budget the next day. When I called, I was told I would need to call the national number and that they could do nothing. We will no longer rent from this location. read more
