First of all, this place is no longer located at Sears. The address it gives you is just for the mall so it's super confusing to figure out where in the mall it is located. Living in Raleigh we are more familiar with Crabtree than most but I feel for people from out of town. The positive: they had the minivan we reserved. The negatives: they obviously did not even look at the car after the previous driver turned it on. There was Popeye's trash, half empty cups, unwrapped chocolate, cookie crumbs ground into the carpet and groceries which had rolled under a seat. It was disgusting. Disaster!!! Prepaid for a Prius a week ago and went I arrived to the RDU location they needed a credit card instead of a debit. So they sent me to Crabtree Mall and it took an hour to find the place because no one was answering at the local store. When the location was transferred they charged me $23 when they said there was no fee. Then there was only one car left, a Ford Fiesta, compact. The man at the call center guaranteed me an intermediate car when the location was moved. The car was dirty and scratched up. Never again!!!! read more

Date of Rental: Friday, October 13th 2023. Everything said below was CORRECT. The phone number listed is NOT the phone number to the store. The directions to the store are not properly listed (inside mall, down hallway across from H&M, first floor). Rented a Luxury Sedan for 3 days (Fri-Sun), pick up at 1:30pm, paid in full, with insurance, on a valid Credit Card. Upon arrival, said cars were "sold out" and I took too long (I arrived at 1:28pm???) so they only had a mini van available for an upcharge at $14 per day. I gave in and took the mini van. Upon return, I was charged for 3 extra days + a full tank of gas but I returned it on a full tank of gas resulting in an extra $400 charge. Had to call Budget customer service and prove my correct return + gas (I took a lot of pictures) for a refund. Also, there is no drop box for return after 6pm daily. read more

I try to do good and rent a car for a friend who's car is in the shop and needs to go out of town for a job interview. I prepay for the car. I had the worst experience. I reserved a vehicle online. Arrived and was told there were no cars. The lady in front of me was told there were no cars but they had SUV's. When I asked about SUVs, I was told they had them but they were for people who reserved them. I had a confirmation number and vehicle was reserved the previous day. I was told to call customer service, who did not answer after holding for 30 minutes. The rep at the location told another customer he didn't think a manager was coming in that day. Would not recommend. They are disorganized and clearly don't know what they are doing. First, they were at lunch when we went to pick up the car. Why allow scheduled pick ups for noon if you're not going to be there? You have to bring your credit card for proof of identity, and they somehow didn't even have the right credit card on file and gave us a hard time about it even though we had a receipt that proved we used that specific credit card. Then, when we finally fixed that, they didn't even have the sedan we reserved and gave us a truck instead that smelled like cigarettes. When we said we couldn't drive in a car that smells like cigarettes (the smell gives me bad headaches), they gave us another truck that STILL smelled like cigarettes. Horrible service. Apparently it's not possible to post a zero star review...Prepaid a rental, was told by the desk agent that due to an issue with the availability of the car I had reserved they would waive the insurance coverage and apply that. After arriving, the young man working the desk informed us that it was his THIRD DAY and to be patient with him as he had been left by himself that day. He was doing his best, and I felt bad for him as he had to have somebody walk him through the process on the phone. I've used it twice to give it a second chance, still a horrible experience and a car was not ready for use until half hour later from my reservation. The Indian man that works here is a very mean, spiteful and unprofessional person who should be fired. I reserved an SUV on July 5, 2017 The week prior by phone. I was moving my family out of the state and everything was in place to go I just had to pick up the car which I pre-paid for. When I showed up at the location to pay the $100 deposit my card was declined which is truly weird. I called the bank and they asked to speak with him because they had seen this happen before with certain rental locations. They suggested that the terminal machine was older and wanted to ask that he try the card again. He refused which is understandable, however he then proceeded to yell "I don't need to speak with anybody! I know how to do my job!" I am a very soft-spoken woman so this startled me and I then explained that I never implied anything about his job I just wanted him to know that I wasn't wasting his time by trying to use a card with no funds. He began to ignore me and honestly treat me like a criminal. He ended up shooing me away and referring me to call the credit bureau and Budget customer service. Almost in tears, customer service was only able to cancel my reservation (because a fraud flag was placed on the current one) and start a new one at a different location. The different location was 25 minutes away! But everything went smoothly when I got there. My card worked, of course, as this was a newer location with newer machines. But I was required to pay the deposit and the reservation fee a second time. I even tipped the young lady at the location for being so nice. I will never work with Budget again because of their worker located inside of the Crabtree Valley Mall Sears! His attitude was uncalled for and I wasn't the only one that witnessed it! He should be fired!! It took Budget five days to refund me for the first canceled prepaid reservation which was also annoying. Never ever pre-pay for your rental! I love the convenience of renting a car at the Budget location in Sears at Crabtree Mall. I don't have to trek to the airport. In addition, I always feel welcomed by the owner and staff. I use my AARP discount code and they never have a problem with upgrading me per the AARP rates. Budget at the Sears Auto Center makes renting a car pleasant, not stressful. Professional and polite service, reliable and helpful...that's what I count on when I use Budget at Sears in Crabtree and that's what I get. So I went to Hertz on 2919 Capital Blvd. Raleigh, NC. They were lovely. I wish I had rented with them for the long haul instead of renting with Horrible Budget. My mother was in the hospital and I had to put up with those horrible people from another country that have not respect for Americans. The rate was good. However!!!!! The only associate (young man) that was working at the counter needs more training (probably not his fault) but managers. He didn't realize the difference between a discount code and reward partners even after I tried to explain. Also was preoccupied with one customer while others were waiting quite a while.
