This was a super cute place and I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the empanadas are. The spicy meat one was amazing. BAC is a cute place! It's over in east Austin in the busiest area so there's lots to do. There's paid street parking but no lot for this place (or most in the area) so plan accordingly - the only day you don't have to pay is Sunday. The restaurant itself is sizable, when I came on a Sunday in March there was plenty of seating available. We came just for drinks, and my friend got a charcuterie board. The drink menu isn't particularly long, but I enjoyed the marg-like drink that I had. My friend got a Buenos Aires tea drink of sorts that he didn't really like, but it looked interesting. The charcuterie board was big! It was like $25 I think? And our server was attentive. Overall - I wasn't blown away by my experience here. It's a nice place, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come again. That said it's in a nice part of east Austin so pretty accessible, and worth a visit if you're nearby. read more

Sunday brunch here was such a delight and left super full! We did Sunday Asado and we're were in for a treat. Stayed off with some black coffee with empanadas. The dough was soft and a little flakey, the filings were so well seasoned. We had Carne Suave and Lenleja. Followed by assortment of the three sausages and breads. Our favorite was Salchicha Rarrillera! Then we had Cesar salad and chefs cut of beef at medium rare and grilled chicken. We definitely had to take some stuff home because we were stuffed. Then we were treated for a desert (it was our anniversary!) I LOVE tres leches and....guess what...? They have Quatro Leches !!!! This one of the best ones I've had so far: not too sweet, be very delicate and fluffy texture, just right! Our server recommended to try Malbec and I went with Luca. We went for Mothers Day and we got the best service. It was a beautiful atmosphere that was a little boho, old glam, and western. All the decorations kept my attention during the whole meal. Our server was exceptionally kind and he took very good care of us. I ordered the Sunday Asado for 3 of us and I wouldn't want it any other way. It's a great 5 dish meal that was timed perfectly and made us so full. It came with empanadas as a starter, delicious fresh bread with butter, a spinach salad, and two different meat plates. Everything was cooked perfectly and the portions were huge. For dessert, we got some flan and some spicy crème brûlée which wasn't for my taste but it was interesting. It's been about a year since I was here last year and not much has changed. You still have to score a spot on the street and plug in your card in a kiosk. And just like last time, I came in with a group and we were, like last time, located off to the side. This time around, we had a few food offerings we did not have before starting with a charcuterie board and two types of their empanadas. Like last time and every time, the empanadas are the bomb. This was followed by some fries and melted Argentine provolone in a pan. After that came potato salad and a meat board. It was all pretty decent and somewhat memorable, but the chicken and the sausage on the board were dry. Overall, it was a decent meal and I'd definitely come back if someone else is picking up the tab. At least this experience was slightly better than the last one. 31/2*. Came in for lunch while staying at the East Austin Hotel. Cannot say enough good things about the quality of our lunches. We started with the mixed olives that were dressed with orange zest. Service was a tad slow and forgetful at times, but there was only one waiter working. The chimichurri was FANTASTIC on the empanadas, but adds an extra $1 to the order. We've been wanting to come here for at least 5-6 years and whenever we'd think to do it would be a weekend night when they're packed to the gills. Never thought of it ahead of time to actually make reservations. Now we actually live within walking distance and are so very thankful for that. Fast forward a couple of hours from 2 p.m. and it'll be quite different. Walking into the restaurant you're hit with an old-world style decor that's inviting and relaxing. Nice bar area to the right of the entrance and restaurant seating to the left. Comfortable and welcoming. Our server was amazing and she took the time to review the menu with us. We're big fans of Argentinian food so we didn't need much explanation. However, it was nice to get it. My boyfriend and I both opted for the Lomito Beef Sandwich lunch special. Half sandwich & a side. I had chicken tortilla soup as my side and it was fantastic! Packed with Argentinian spices, chicken, tomato, onion, tortilla strips and more. He got Caesar salad as a side and the dressing was popping! The steak sandwiches were pure joy. Topped with the most incredible chimichurri sauce. You could taste every herb and spice in the olive oil based dressing. I could just eat it by the spoonful. The beef was perfectly cooked and it quite literally melted in our mouths. The baguette it was served on had a perfectly crisp crust with a warm and soft center. As an appetizer we shared a Carne Picante empanada. It was filled with ground beef, herbs, and spices. It was a spicy beef but not at all overpowering. Of course we dipped it in a side of chimichurri sauce. The filling was warm and fresh with aromatic flavors. The empanada itself was flaky and light. I've been slacking on going here. Have walked by a million times and finally stopped in. Made a reservation mid-week and wasn't too busy. Ended up sitting at the bar and Alejandro was wonderful. My nephew was in town and we decided to go to Buenos Aires Cafe for a lite evening snack and beverages with authority, for digestive purposes. The atmosphere is nice and cozy and our server Lauren was terrific. I started with a Pisco Sour that I sipped on whilst I waited for my beef empanada appetizer. I do declare that the empanadas here are absolutely delightful, packed with all sorts of deliciousness. For my entrée, I chose the Pastel de Papas, an Argentine style, "Shepherd's pie", with certified Angus ground beef, hard-boiled eggs, green onions, raisins, green olives, red bell peppers, and herbs, prepared to perfection. The dessert was quite a surprise, Quatros Leches, instead of Tree Leches, sponge cake soaked in FOUR milks, topped with whipped cream, strawberries, and mint leaves which was a perfect ending to a lite snack. Came here for a school project, which gave me the opportunity to try something outside the usual Austin dining rotation. Sharing what I ordered below, with photos attached. The ambience was casual, but not particularly inviting. It functioned as a place to dine, but lacked the warmth or character that encourages guests to stay longer or return. Service felt neutral and minimal. My server wasn't rude, but also not welcoming or attentive. One detail that stood out was the dine-in tip prompt, which went up to 30% when I visited in September 2025. An unexpected and slightly uncomfortable moment as a guest/customer. Food-wise, I had higher expectations for the achuras, but they were overly salty for my palate, which overshadowed the dish itself. The Cebolla & Queso empanadas, however, were the highlight of the meal- light, well-balanced, and thoughtfully executed. The combination of soft cheese and properly caramelized onions was comforting and clean. The mocktail was refreshing and well-composed, even without added sweetness. One additional note: the bathroom was not functional during my visit. It's been several months since then, so hopefully this has since been addressed. Would I come back? No. While it's a fine place to try something new once, nothing about the food, service, or ambience stood out enough to warrant a return visit. Came on a Sunday because we wanted to try the Gran Asado, which is a multi-course lunch special. For the positives, we really enjoyed the empanadas and the sauces on the side. The amount of food you get is also impressive. My partner and I barely finished half of the meal. The spinach salad was good but nothing special. The achuras were hit or miss for me. The biggest disappointment was the main meat dishes. Almost all the meat was dry and overcooked in my opinion. They were also pretty flavorless and needed the sauces to make them appetizing. Came here on a group dinner on a busy Friday night. The restaurant was bustling at 7pm and they were turning walk-ins away. I ordered half a grill chicken with the Argentinian potato salad. I also had two caipirinha which is a sugar cane cocktail mixed with in my case passion fruit and mint. It was very tasty. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was cozy. The Provoleta was great, very chewy and the sliced bread was fresh. As many have already said, the homemade chimichurri is delicious and pretty much great on anything savory here, we only wish we had more of it! The spicy beef empanada had great flavor, but wish the pastry was a little more cooked, a little soggy on the side and bottom. The filet was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes side was so fluffy, buttery, and yummy. The place is the land of Malbec, and their house red does not disappoint! (I will say the staff is very particular... my stomach can't handle a pisco or brandy cocktail to start a meal and when I asked if it could be subbed by vodka, it was a quick 'No, that will not be good,' and no offer for alternative as he just walked away. I went with a martini and the glass wasn't chilled, so it was a little warm, but it's not on their menu so even though they are bartenders, they were pissed off so I'm lucky I got one at all. I also over heard the servers complaining about other restaurant guest requests as we were sitting at bar, so be prepared for a NO SPECIAL REQUEST service or I'd suggest going else where if you don't want what's exactly on the menu.) Yall already know parking is a challenge on 6th so I parked a block away in a public parking lot next to Good Vets. Inside is cozy with large wooden tables and has plenty of space for larger parties of 6-8 comfortably. We had 7. I've never been here before and we all agreed we were going to order a bunch of stuff and taste everyone's plates. We got a cheese plate and I was underwhelmed and felt it needed more bread but it was a cute starter. The bread and butter was subtle but delicious. The bread is crusty outside and has a good chew and feels really hearty. As a Latina, bread and butter is quintessential staple so just order it. Honey, but the star of the appetizers was Hamon Serrano. It was so divine with thin slices of ham, crustini with tomato is glorious. Feel free to look at the pictures and my recommendations for must orders and can skip. I noticed the meat mains came with completely different sides than the ones I wanted. The sides that came with were like mashed potato or asparagus or fries but I paid extra for the polenta and Brussels and IT WAS WORTH IT! My 6oz fillet was so tender and delicious. But if I had to do it over, I would get the shepherds pie. THAT was amazingly tasty. Also the sandwich which is not in my pictures but the Lomito Beef is a favorite and bolder on the menu for a reason. Meat so tender and it's just delicious. THE EMPANADAS!!! My fav was the carmelized onions and cheese and the mild ground beef!!!!! Don't order a salad here, it's not the place to waste the stomach space. Now dessert! My ultimate recommendation is the lemon pie. Second runner up is the quatro leches. Happy ordering friends. I want to bring my mom here for Christmas week. read more

We started with two delicious appetizers for our group of four. My wife and I then split a Lomito (steak sandwich). Our other two guest split a Parrillada and a Salmon plato. Everything was good however, there were minor issues. I ordered the Lomito with egg which didn't make it on the sandwich, the steak was a bit over done and the chicken on the Parrillada was dry. The salmon was cooked perfectly and they do make a delicious chimichurri sauce in house. To be fair we were compensated by the add on egg price removed, the chicken was re-fired and one of our deserts were free. Buenos Aires will always be near and dear to our hearts, as it was one of the first true dates spots my husband and I ever went to. The ambiance is intimate, and it is always bustling when we go. We were particularly hungry this time after a very long day and decided to start off with a full order of fries that come with garlic, parsley, and chili aioli. When fries are done well, you just know. We ate this entire basket, almost a little embarrassing, before our meal arrived. Our drinks were both delicious, though I will note I could have gone with a little less lime chunks in my Caipirhina(just personal preference). I went with 2 empanadas, which after years of visits, I have determined are a must have. I did the carne picante and cebolla & queso- they were both excellent as usual. My husband got a steak and baby carrots that were delicious and cooked to perfection. But the star of the show is always the dark and spicy crème brûlée! My favorite dessert of all time that I've never seen replicated. Rich dark chocolate with a touch of heat, crispy sugar top, paired with strawberry and mint. I could eat it everyday! My boyfriend and I stumbled upon Brenos Aries Café on 6th Street in Austin while we were looking for something to eat. We were waiting for a wine bar to open and decided to check this place out and so glad we did. We arrived at the restaurant at about 4 p.m. on a Saturday, and it turned out to be the perfect time to enjoy a quiet, cozy meal. The restaurant has a unique South American interior that really sets it apart from other restaurants in the area and honestly, from other places in Austin. I truly loved the interior design. I thought it was warm, vibrant, and full of charm. Even the menus were beautifully done and thoughtfully designed. The menu mentioned that the empanadas are made fresh daily, and you can tell. They had about six different empanadas to choose from, and we went with the two beef ones that our waitress recommended. They were incredibly flaky and golden on the outside, with perfectly seasoned meat on the inside, so satisfying and flavorful. The chimichurri sauce was also delicious and authentic. We also shared the Argentinian-style shepherd's pie, which was absolutely delicious. It had mashed potatoes on the bottom, a layer of seasoned meat and vegetables in the middle, and was topped with melted cheese. It was so good we almost ordered a second one. Both dishes were warm, hearty, and comforting, truly perfect for an impromptu date. The staff was genuinely kind and attentive, not just to us but to the other guests as well. There was a visually impaired couple seated near us, and I noticed how the staff helped them with ordering, as well as entering and exiting the restaurant. The hospitality and service really stood out to me, not just in how they treated us, but in how thoughtfully they cared for everyone around them. This has long been on the list of places to visit in East Austin, so it was nice to finally try their food. We went around 5:00pm on a weekday and it was thankfully easy to find a parking meter right out front. Sadly no free parking! I imagine the metered spots fill up quickly at other times too, so be prepared. At that time of day it didn't take long to get seated or for our food to arrive either. I ordered their sandwich that is famous according to the menu, and it definitely made an impression. The beef was cut thick between ciabatta style bread with aioli and I opted to pay 50 cents extra for provolone. Incredibly, the meat was so tender it almost melted with each bite and there was no difficulty biting through it like there would have been at any other place. And it was so flavorful and delicious! The fries were nice too and came with aioli but weren't that special. The steak looked even better and came with chimichurri sauce, salad, and wonderful gold mashed potatoes. It's several dollars more expensive, but looks worth it although I thoroughly enjoyed the sandwich. There are also many desserts that look quite interesting but we ended up with the chocolate mousse which was perhaps least unusual. I confess the interior seems rather aged and worn to me and even the tables with photos of Argentina shellaced on the top, while amusing, seem more suited to the 1980s, but it's all comfortable enough. The prices are eye-wateringly expensive, but the food is mouth-wateringly delicious so it's worth it for a special occasion I would think. read more

This place has a beautiful ambience, and it's one of the only places in Austin where I have tried blood sausage (morcilla), which I love. I recently went in to buy some chimichurri cause I was running short on time and didn't make it myself. Upon receiving the chimichurri, I inquired and found out some equally unfortunate and aggravating news. THEIR OLIVE OIL IS CUT WITH VEGETABLE OIL! Why?! That's so disappointing considering this place is represented as being authentic. An authentic chimichurri uses a quality olive oil, something to further enrich and enhance the health benefits of the sauce, not to mention add to the overall flavor profile. I know I would rather spend more money to receive a product that is actually healthy, delicious, and made with quality ingredients. So disappointed and will unfortunately not be returning, cause if they are willing to cut corners on something as simple- yet quintessential- as chimichurri, what else are they cutting corners on/what other inferior and inauthentic ingredients are they utilizing? read more

Crust was flaky and buttery without being greasy. Filling was so tasty. Next had the Jamón Serrano salty thin slices of ham. OMG good. This is a very cute spot on East Sixth to grab dinner on a date or with friends. The servers will answer any of your questions and make recommendations which are helpful when many things from the menu sound tasty. It makes for a great experience to start off with. The empanadas (carne suave and lentejas) were flaky and tasted very good. I also really enjoyed their steaks (churrasquita and carne milanesa) even though they were prepared differently, they both had great flavor. Their drinks were good too. I enjoyed the Mate Iced Tea. The only downside is that there weren't very many desserts left by the time we were done with our meal but that means they were probably good! read more
